I prefer this Starbucks to the others near Harvard square as it is often less crowded, cleaner, and more well staffed. However, I have noticed that kids from Cambridge Ridge and Latin come at around ~3 pm, so it may be busier at that time. Of course, it's going to be your classic Starbucks, but I think it lends itself nicely as a place to do homework midday--especially if you get a spot at one of the high table or at the counter. This Starbucks also feels more neighborhood-y than the others around. The one downside is they have no bathroom, so you have to go next-door to broadway market. read more

i've stopped by this starbucks a few times and have always been happy with my experience! drinks and food are always made on time and i've never experienced any problems. it's not too busy compared to the one at harvard square, which is why i like going to this location. it still does get a little cramped at times, but still in a bearable way haha. the baristas are super nice and friendly. there's plenty of street parking right outside as well. overall rating: 10/10 read more

We ordered 25 minutes before we had to urgently leave (with barely any people in the store) and they did not give our drinks for 15 minutes. We asked for our charge back and told them we were in a rush. They told us our drinks were about to be done so we waited even longer. The people behind the counter were obviously not doing their work and the second charge back took forever. There was another guy in the store who came in before us and he waited like 30+ minutes for a coffee. Do not go here. read more

One of the nicest SBUX in the chain. Hands down. Friendly, laid back, clean. Doesn't look like a chain store. Same standard selections as the rest, but much more laid back than the vertiginous pace and crowds of the other coffee houses in the area. And right next to the Broadway yuppie mart. I am however, pissed when I order my caramel macchiato, breve (w/half n half) and don't get it. I frequent this location but noticed my drink didn't taste right, Finally, I watched is being prepared and poof. All of my doubt was gone. There is no use of half n half, just milk. I just started frequenting this store on the mornings I feel the need for a familiar drink! The location is small, but the morning crew are quick & courteous and I never have to wait more than 4-6 minutes from the moment I walk into the store and when I leave. It can get a bit cramped with everyone waiting for their drinks, but if you are just swinging through to take something to go this is an excellent location! read more

I visited Cambridge for about 2 months this summer and I would go to this Starbucks almost everyday. Everyone was so kind and professional. Something that stood out to me was how the head manager 100% led his team in the best way possible. Although I would only be in the Starbucks for a few minutes a day, I noticed that he would greet everyone, if there was ever a situation with an employee he would make sure to step out of the main area and speak to them in private, also he always stepped in to help his team when needed. This was really inspiring to see, and I hope to come back to this Starbucks next time I visit. 10/10! read more

Disclaimer: I don't usually even want to acknowledge chains, let alone (gasp!) give them 5 stars, but I've got to give the hard working folks at this location props. My 83 year old grandfather lives in the neighborhood and has adopted this starbucks as his second home. He is an awfully loud (i.e. deaf) eccentric old man. As he gets older he is more difficult to take in public. I have met him here twice (for coffee, but managed not to get to drink any) and both times it was a somewhat embarrassing, awkward experience. The people at this starbucks are awfully kind to him, they even allow him to keep a dictionary behind the counter for his random quizzes. I'm happy that grandpa has a place that he can walk to and meet new friends. At the same time I'm amazed that he hasn't been kicked out or banned for disturbance. The employees at the Broadway location are doubling as care givers as far as I'm concerned. Thank you!! read more

Thank you to the kind barista working today, I didn't get your name, but you were very pleasant. You took my order and it was correct and you even complimented me on my old starbucks card (the one with flowers on it and a bird from 2006/2007). And, thank you to the manager, Kate -- who kindly offered to make me an iced orange spice coffee since I told her I wasn't a coffee drinker (I ONLY drink tea). Well, guess what?! I liked the orange spice coffee and may consider drinking coffee again. The last time I had coffee was the 90s. I can see why people love coffee, it's an instant pick me up. I still love my non fat, no water, extra hot chai and my iced passion tea with a splash of lemonade and my iced tea/ black tea lemonade. This is one of my most favorite of all the Starbucks locations because of the quiet, mellow, and calm atmposphere and great service. It's a Starbucks, and as others said, you pretty much know what you're going to get here. Given its tiny space and awkward set-up, this is not a place where I would ever go to sit. Unlike other coffee shops in the area, this one has parking. Most days the service is fine and the staff is friendly. Every so often, however, they are so busy giggling and gossiping with each other they they become needlessly distracted and mess up orders. This happened to me yesterday, and while he barista apologized, if she had been more focused on her customers than her colleagues, this would not have happened. It's fine to have fun at work, but the fun shouldn't come at the expense of customer service. read more

I'm a bit confused because some of these reviews seem to be for the much larger Starbucks in Harvard Square (unless this tiny Starbuck adjacent to the Broadway Market has a ridiculously well hidden staircase and upstairs portion). Anyway, the review below is for the Broadway location. I get it -- Starbucks is a chain, the offerings tend to be identical, and the differences are extraordinarily subtle. That said, there are good Starbucks and there are bad Starbucks, and this one is near the top of the spectrum. Here's why: (1) You have a choice of well lit window tables, or darker tables in the back, depending on what you're in the mood for. I hesitate to call the back tables cozy or anything, but they're totally serviceable, and you don't have to deal with glare if you're working on a computer. (2) The tables are frequently available. This is freaking key. Bad Starbucks locations are often bad because you can't get a seat. (3) The staff rock. Look, I've almost never had a bad staff experience in any Starbucks, but the ones here are particularly friendly. (4) The line is rarely long, but when it is, it moves fast. This is (bizarrely) less true for the location in Harvard Square, which seems to have throughput issues, even though in theory it should be faster due to the great capacity. (5) Tired of the Starbucks pastry offerings? There's a huge supermarket four feet away! You can totally buy a muffin there or whatever and eat it at Starbucks if you like. So yeah, this is a great Starbucks. 5 stars on the Starbucks scale. read more

I subleased a place by Harvard Square this summer so I frequented this Starbucks location. It's probably my favorite Starbucks to-date. Love the upstairs lounge area and love the fact that they offer tastings for new coffee brews. I've studied here frequently and absolutely love the atmosphere. I volunteer at a non-profit coffee shop and my paid work at a healthcare facility a couple blocks away from this place; this is one of a few coffee options in the area. Usually decent product and service until past two days. Yesterday the barista attempted to inform me that a latte and a macchiato are the same (umm, no thats why they have different names lol). The drink was horrible-whichever I received. Today ordered chai, a worker with long braids dropped the F-bomb several times as she complained about restocking the straws and emptying trash as two coworkers laughed at her (there were children in the place, geez). Just do your job princess, which probably includes trash and straws. read more

I like this location. It's really calm, there is hardly ever a queue longer than four or five people. You can sit down most times, unless the regulars are there and then it's usually a long wait until a chair opens up. It's also a really nice place to take your lunch and grab a coffee or ice tea, what with the Market right next door. The only thing about this location is that it closes a little bit earlier than other locations in the area. I work here on the weekends. The atmosphere is really fun and nice, the people I work with are really cool - come in and say hi sometime! Also there is more parking here than at any other Starbucks this close to either Central or Harvard. read more

My regular Starbucks, around the corner from my office. This one somehow manages to cultivate a calm atmosphere, even with the chaotic whir of steaming milk and shouted coffee orders. The music seems soothing and the employees are always cheerful. They have the process down to a science: one employee asks you for your drink order while you are in line to pay, so they can stay ahead. You won't wait long for your drink here. My latte is always hot enough and smooth/foamy enough, and the espresso is almost never burned. (Hey, nobody's perfect.) Since the remodel, this location feels a bit "cold" inside (white marble counter; one entire wall is wood, with no shelves or anything on it). Seating options are limited and not comfortable, but there does usually tend to be a table or a seat at the counter free when you want to stick around. read more

It's a perfectly good Starbucks as long as you're the only one there. Once there's a few orders in the queue the action behind the counter turns into the NASDAQ trading floor. There's a lot of screaming, yelling, and drink splashing but not a lot of drinks going out that are actually what you ordered. It's a really small Starbucks, so getting drinks out on time is important. They have no ability to handle the least amount of stress without turning into Royal Rumble 97. read more

She does not reflect the values of Starbucks whatsoever. I just watched her say out loud "Jesus Christ" in response to a customers question. If I could give this Starbucks a zero score I would. As a life long Cantabrigian (Cambridge is my hometown) and avid Starbucks patron, this location and staff is the worse I've ever encountered. The staff aren't knowledgeable about the product and their attitude is atrocious. I pick up my kids from school on Broadway every weekday and bring them to the Starbucks on mass Ave near porter because I refuse to frequent this particular location. The service is horrible and the drinks they make are even worse!!! I once asked for the manager and she wasn't helpful either. I ordered a double espresso and when I received it it look like a single. When I asked the barista (who is not quite friendly, didn't look like she wanted to be there) if it was a single or double she said it's a double but calling it by its "correct name". I order my usual drink and plain bagel, I get my drink and then wait for my bagel for 10 minutes or so, and they weren't many customers. I see that people who came after me received their orders (there was one who served bagels and one in the drinks station). The bagels girl was so rude, after I politely remind her about my bagel while she was on her phone and talking to the other barista, she did not apologize or say anything. Then she goes toasts the bagel and whisper in her coworkers's ear and put the bagel on the counter like nothing happened. Thanks to her I was late to work. I stopped in for some coffee and salad. Yes it's busy so not a big deal that the register person didn't offer me utensils. I thought they might be in the container like at some prepared food places so I didn't ask. Once I sat down it was very hard to get back to the register due to the very crowded waiting area and line area so I asked the barista making the drinks. She said no, I have to ask the register person. So now I have a salad and no fork.....hopefully in another 10-15 minutes I can try again at the register but not ideal if you don't have a lot of time to eat lunch! read more

I tried to pick up a mobile order (I clearly saw that my order was ready), but when I tried to get their attention, the barista ignored me until I got someone else's attention. 5 stars for a Starbucks. I came here for the first time on a really hot day to escape the heat and get some work done. Most Starbucks I have been too are packed with people, but this one always seems to have a few tables open (I guess since it is summer). Never coming to this Starbucks again employees here are so rude. I came in during my lunch break to ask for a medium iced coffee with classic and room for milk the lady filled the entire cup with coffee. I went to the trash and dumped some out to have room to add my milk. As I did so a gentleman working there was next to me and went to the back to talk about how I had dumped some of my coffee in the trash can.. now if it were that big of an issue why voice it publicly to everyone working I could hear you from the door. I could hear every employee talking about how I had dumped coffee in the trash can when I had specifically asked for that when ordering. Talking negatively about customers is bad but talking about them when they are still there and everyone can hear well it causes this. A bad example and even more of a bad reputation. I personally think the managers should probably talk to their employees of how to act in the work place even if it is just Starbucks no one wants to be getting their coffee or spending money on business that thinks treating their customers like that is ok. read more

This is a two floor starbucks. The service table is downstairs, with a some seating and standing room. Upstairs, there are a lot of couches, tables, and lounge-like chairs near the windows for being productive. It's a great place to grab a coffee or to meet others, as almost everyone can find it easily. However, I personally find it difficult to study there, as it's a very large space and is quite crowded. With the high number of people, it's also easy for it to be quite loud. This place is always bustling though--I've never been able to easily find a seat as well, particularly if you have more than two people in your party. read more
