Since moving to SV & my new job I've been going here. These massage therapists know what they are doing and they offer different massage therapy techniques. NaNa/YaYa, I've only had her once but she was amazing and then she left back home :( she was amazing ! However I also had Penkawee the front/manager couple of times and another therapist who are great! I've tried the deep tissue, traditional Swedish, & Thai Swedish combo. All are amazing. I can't say which is my favorite bc I've gone for different occasions. They do stretching in all of them and have some acupuncture pressure points. Nana told me to try a full Thai massage however, I need to prepare for it. I've gone for various MSK injuries and just for relaxation. I just had a Swedish with Penkawee for stress and tension of my upper back & neck due to work and my body feels like butter. I also had a deep tissue massage with her for sports injury and it was so good that I didn't need to come back for a couple of months. They have male therapists for stronger pressure and for deep tissue, medium-strong is just right for me. I really like how they emphasize the different techniques and they are different. You are not paying just for the same massage with different prices. I also appreciate how they focus on trouble spots that you mark so every massage is different based on area of concerns. Parking was convenient with plenty of street options nearby, and the check-in process was seamless--we quickly filled out a short intake form with the receptionist. We were asked to remove our shoes before being escorted to our room, which added to the authentic and calming ambiance of the space. The massage itself was excellent. This was my first time seeing this doctor and I thought it went alright. I wasn't sure what to expect but I ended up feeling comfortable talking through some issues that I normally put off. The waiting room was a bit cold and not much seating but the staff kept things moving. The doctor took their time and really explained things in a way that didn't feel rushed. They made eye contact and didn't seem glued to the computer the whole time like I've seen in other places. They asked about family history and went over my past records before making any comments which made it seem like they cared about the big picture. I liked how they didn't jump to any strong conclusions right away but instead suggested a few practical steps and told me what signs to watch for. After the appointment they made sure I understood what to follow up on and the assistant gave me some notes to take home. It's nice when things are explained without being too technical. Came by the other day for a traditional Thai massage and it was a great experience! Called in the morning for an appointment in the afternoon and they were able to accommodate! Street parking was plentiful. Checked in with the receptionist that was wearing a chin guard and filled in the patient intake form before shown my room. The room had two walls and curtains to the hallway and to the room next door. There was a massage table in the room along with sheets covering the table. The masseur started off with a warm towel on the feet then proceeded to walk across different areas of my body, including my back, arm, legs, thighs. Pressure was strong and fantastic! Interestingly enough, despite requesting a traditional Thai massage, there was an oil portion for the back which I thought was slightly odd. The massage was good. I got the aromatherapy one in a couples room. I chose medium pressure but this was my first Thai massage and I had to ask for less pressure especially around my neck; she was very accommodating and asked a few times if the pressure was ok. They also ask for permission if they can walk on your back (over the sheet) and it's only a short portion of the hour. The masseuse and staff were friendly and the facility was nice. I came here yesterday for a massage for the very first time and it was fantastic! Relaxing massage, good price (especially the early bird special 10am - 2pm), and nice environment overall. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time and filled out the intake form where there's a diagram for you to circle areas on your body that you want them to pay attention to. I was then shown to my room where I got changed into a pair of flowy pants that they provided. The masseuse started out with no oils and massaged my upper and lower body before moving on to using oil all over. She definitely knew what she was doing and it felt great to have all of my muscles stretched and pulled. Overall a great place for a massage and I will definitely be back! I have gotten 2 deep tissue massages and 1 thai massage here, and all were done by YaYa. She is absolutely amazing at deep tissue massage and will focus on your problem areas. Her thai massage was very good too, but if you have deep knots and tension like me, I would most highly recommend deep tissue by her. I always leave feeling sooo relaxed and during the massage I'm almost in a trance since it feels so good! She is also very sweet, and the prices of both massages are reasonable for this area (Thai = $90, Deep tissue = $120 (so worth it)- not including tip!) One thing I would recommend is to make sure you get a confirmation message once you schedule or else you may not be officially booked (this happened to me today, but luckily they were still able to take me). They always send a text after you book. If not, they have a helpful receptionist you can always call to double check & confirm your appointment. Great place! Visiting San Jose and came here once with my husband and it was nice! My only downside with it is that there's only a curtain separating me between everyone else so I can hear everything the front desk is saying and everyone walking around. I have a feeling they keep a curtain for the safety of the masseuses which I totally respect but I'm wondering if (for the price of the massage which is much more than a foot spa which would all be open) maybe they could add doors or try to keep it a bit more quiet. This is one of the worst places to get a massage in the bay area. The owner is one of the most toxic & stressful people I've encountered (see below) . The massages themselves are just OK - I wish they made accommodations for specific body issues (like making sure you are comfortably lying down before the massage). You have to ask repeatedly for this (as I did last time). ---------------------------- Do you like getting a massage at a place where your stern school principal (like Umbridge not McGonagall) reprimands you and yells at you for the sheer audacity to show up 4 mins late or the absolute no-no of asking to reschedule? Well, this is exactly that kind of place. I booked 2 massages with this place. And both times I had to reschedule. If you reschedule, the owner considers this a cancellation and yells at you. Both times I asked for the rescheduling well in advance. * The first time (early Aug), my period came early and I didn't want to get massaged during it - so asked to reschedule. And showed up at the rescheduled date which was 3 days later, got the massage and left. *The second time, I unexpectedly got a meeting scheduled at the time I had picked. So I had to reschedule to the next day - which is today. The owner calls this 'you book and you never show up' . So if you book an appointment, apparently you can't cancel or reschedule it. My appointment today was at 6.30pm. Here are the number of confimation calls I got for this appt : * I got a call yesterday to confirm I was going to show up - I said yes. * I got a call today afternoon (around 2-3) to ask if I was going to show up to my appointment - I politely replied yes. * I got a call 17 mins BEFORE the appointment demanding to know if I was on the way or not - I replied politely that I was on the way. (I was in my uber, on the way to this place.) * At 6:33 , I got yet another call - this time the owner without preamble, angrily yelled at me 'Are you coming or not?' - my uber was 2 blocks from this place. At this point, she had yelled into the phone at me, TWICE. So even though I was just about to get down, and had endured 24 mins of traffic to get there, I told her to cancel the appointment. I told here where I was and why I was cancelling (her disrespectful and rude demeanor) . I live about 10-12 mins drive from this place but today, the traffic was awful - so even though I started at 6:10, It took me till 6:34 to get there. 4 mins delay - shouldn't get you this stressed out. But the horrible owner and her constant phone calls demanding to know if I am going to be there or not, her overbearing demeanor, the yelling and arguing over the phone, all ratchet up the stress and pressure. Nothing is worth dealing with a toxic person like this woman. Especially when you are going to get a massage to relax and relieve stress. She then texted me a screenshot with 3 appointments showing 'No shows' and cancellations asking me 'why do you always do this' . Wow. * 1 appointment - not made by me - sometime in May. * The other 2 appointments - these were the ones in Aug and Sep which I'd asked to reschedule. So even though they were rescheduled and I took up those appointments, she was yelling at me for the 'cancellations' ! She then proceeded to school me on how I should *behave* and not take up therapist's time and block other customers' great opportunities to have their blood boil from having to deal with her. Naturally, I blocked the owner. And obviously, never going to this place. If this is how she treats customers, you have to wonder how she treats the masseuses! In hindsight, her responses to any non-5-star reviews should've been a gigantic red flag. read more

I dreammm of this place! I'm from out of town, couldn't get a last-min booking anywhere, and I found this sketchy place around the corner. I didn't make an appointment obviously. The lady tried her best to call clients to reschedule to accommodate me, no luck. I still appreciate the effort. So I waited an hour for a deep tissue. I felt like Daniel didn't need to read my chart. The instant he touched my body, he knew what needed fixing. He found cracks I didn't know I needed. If it took a while to crack, he'd know. He's insanely professional and you can tell he's the real deal straight from Thailand. I specifically wanted to fix a knot in my lower back. It felt better afterwards, but it took another day before it finally went away. The plus is, the rest of my body feels better and that wasn't even my goal. My go-to massage place for a full body massage! I always get the traditional thai massage for 60-minutes and it's always a great experience. They work your entire body from head to toe, and I love how they add in the different stretches. I always ask for hard pressure-- and they are very consistent with the pressure throughout the hour. I love how they also focus on the spots that hurt the most -- for me the shoulder and neck. I've been here a few times, but I personally enjoyed Kit as my massage person. Great massage. I usually come 1/week for 90 minute traditional Thai (I save deep tissue for Chinese foot spas - STEP ON MY BACK! Lol). It's a little bit cheaper than other Thai massages in the area and the lady in the front is very nice. I've had great massages from most but each one does things a bit differently (which isn't a bad thing) and there is 1 person who I wouldn't recommend but the rest I would. I'd normally mention my go to person but honestly don't want more people to find about them (so I can get my appointments lol!). I recommend this spot for sure. The team at Star Thai Massage was amazing. My wife has had a long time issue with her shoulders from work stress and the team identified and worked through it without much direction. I didn't know what areas of work I needed but the masseuse focused on my IT band and lower back and afterwards, complete looseness and pain / soreness free. By all means, we're not saying the team are miracle workers but they are superbly experienced. Last thing I'll leave is I was a late addition and am super grateful the willingness to make it work to allow me to squeeze into a couples massage program with my wife.
