I was looking for a property for a family member and I'm appalled at the treatment we have received. I own and invest in property in the South End area and I would avoid using this agency! In particular, there is an extreme lack of communication, large gaps in customer service, and an unprofessional staff. We first had contact with an associate named Alex Gagne. Initially, he was very responsive to our questions concerning the unit. Yet an issue arose when we tried scheduling an appointment to see the unit. Because of my schedule, we requested a same day appointment. He informed us that his office had a policy of giving current tenants 24 hour notice before showing the unit. Now I agree and fully respect that tenants should be given adequate notice before a showing. However, I also know that some tenants are flexible and will allow same day showings. We asked him if he could contact the tenants to see if a same day appointment would be possible, but he did not even want to contact them. (We thought it was odd that he refused to even ask the tenants; other agencies I have worked with in the past never had a problem running such a request by the current tenants. It never hurts to ask and if the tenants declined, we would have completely understood.) We then asked Alex for an evening appointment for the next day and he said he would not do a showing later than 6:30 pm. We weren't sure if a 6:30 pm appointment would work for us so he told us to call back once we had selected a time. About 30 minutes later, we contacted him and asked if 6:30 pm the next day (an appointment time HE had originally suggested) would work for him. We received no response from him (opposite of his initial behavior of being very responsive), so we called one of the main office numbers listed on their website. Brett Star, who we suppose is the owner of the agency, answered the phone. We told him we were interested in making an appointment to see the particular unit and he stated that since we had made contact with Alex first, we would need to go through him. We told Brett that we contacted Alex, but did not receive a response. We still wanted to make an appointment and we asked if Brett could contact Alex. We don't know what made Brett lose his cool, but he quickly became rude and exhibited himself in such a way that lacked class and professionalism. His tone became demeaning and he stated "I don't know what you're not understanding, you have to go through Alex!" Now we're not sure how commissions work in that office, but we are sure it would not hurt for the person who answered the office phone to give a message to the realtor we were attempting to reach. We are very surprised that the owner of an agency would display such behavior. We told him he shouldn't be rude and then he stated "OK what do you want me to do?!" in an annoyed tone. Brett finally agreed to relay a message to Alex. Two days have passed and we still have not heard from Alex, but given our initial experience with this agency, I'm not expecting much in terms of professional courtesy. If you are a property owner considering their services, I would avoid this company. Their inability to maintain professionalism will quickly drive away potential tenants! read more
