Equity Residential has to be one of the worst community investment companies out there.Does not care about their tenants health or well being. Does not employ professionals that show empathy toward their consumer. When I rented here it was under Greystar then got sold to Equity. I had already signed the contract. Equity properties do not run efficiently. Their "modern and upscale" appliances break and not able to be fixed properly. Emergency situations have to be dealt with when management in the office and that is usually never. If they're in the office you have to call several times to get a response. Equity Residential name if you see on apartment complex. Run!! read more

I'm now in a very disappointed situation with the LEX apartment and I think I'm fooled by the management team and I will have to pay $900 more than I expected. In April, I decide to renew my lease for 'two months'. However, the contract showed a 'two months plus eleven days' lease term. When I asked why the lease term is longer than I expected. They told me 'It is the date the system puts that way you have some wiggle room to let us know what your plans are for the next lease term, if any.'. I believe everyone who see this reply will think that the lease term is still 'two months', but the resident have 11 more days to decide whether to move out or renew their lease, which the wiggle room stands for.(From my perspective of view, that is: instead of a 30 day notice, we can inform the management team 20 days before the lease ends.) Then in this month, I told the management team I'm going to move out right before 20 days of my current lease. And I found that: I AM responsible for that 11 more days. I prepared my moving out and planned everything and now my planned is ruined and plus, I have to pay more money for that. When I discussed this issue with the management team, their attitude made me that I was fooled again, the only two options I have now: 1)Responsible for the 11 more days since I have signed the contract 2)Responsible for the 9 more days since I made a 20 day notice instead of the 30 day notice. That is so clever of you! I was truly shocked. From the beginning to the end, no one ever clearly told that me my lease term is 'two month plus eleven days' after I cleared stated I want to sign a 'two month' lease. Furthermore, I was fooled twice by the word 'wiggle room', now whatever I choose, I need to pay 10 more days! The very first fault was that the management team ruined my lease term and used ambiguous words while explaining to me. Guess what kind of lease will be two month plus eleven days? The management team never ever admitted this is actually their fault and tried to make me be the one who is responsible. That is super UNFAIR. read more

All in all, a fantastic place to live. read more

PROS: Good location Large rooms Super friendly doormen/women Power never goes out b/c it's a medical building CONS: The management company nickles & dimes you (it's $300 for the pool, which they don't tell you when you pay your $500 amenities fee in the fall). The heat/AC is on a single system, and you can't turn it on, you just have a fan. So when the seasons change, your apartment is either freezing or extremely hot for a month or two when they've only got one system on. Currently, neither system is on, it was 80+ last weekend, and 40s at night this week. This is a big deal in a city with such variable weather like Boston. If your neighbor smokes, you will smell it. My apartment smells like I smoke a pack a day, and management won't do anything. They didn't tell me this, even when I signed MY lease and it said smoking was forbidden. They jack the rent 10% every year. BOTTOM LINE: This place is a big clean box with a good view, and everything else about it sucks. read more

Horrible company, that does not take care of their properties or tenants. If you see their name, rent someplace else.

I live in 180riverside Blvd. I am paying top rent for a penthouse unit. My refrigerator is disgusting they refuse to replace it. My floors are so uneven it is scary. I get dizzy walking around my apartment. The cabinets in may bathroom and in the kitchen are completely falling apart it's actually so embarrassing. They are so old inside and rusty and molding. I can't believe they won't change and fix these issue. I'm paying 13k month. The first day I used my Brand New Washer/Dryer all the water was pouring out and an entire section of my floors buckled up. Still has not been fixed. My kids are tripping on it all the time. I really can't believe a building of such high status is not taking care of my needs. It's not like I'm living for free here. read more

If I could leave one star I would. We rented our apartment with one management and then we were switched to equity residential. The level of service and management standard are so poor that I feel I am in constant grievance. We rent a 2bdr 2bath apartment and never had a reason to complain before. Here comes Equity and our life has turned into daily anger. The arrogance with which they excuse the low management standard are translated in "thank you for your patience", we originally rented in a luxury building that lost all luxury feeling since the neglect and cut in expenses have turned this experience in a legalized steal on Equity part. To top it all off we just had our rent go up 6%. I wish them hell as we are experiencing having them managing the building. read more

I lived here for 2 years. At first my husband and I were in love with the place because of the views, all the amenities and location but all of that quickly changed the longer we lived there. Read below and be warned! 1.) HEAT - First of all heat is not included and we all know Boston is cold. When we were shown the apt I asked the leasing agent what the average heating bill was during the winter months. She told me - "Oh not bad at all - Very reasonable around $150 - $200 a month". I guess she meant if you turn on your heat for 2 hours a day!!! To conserve energy my husband I and ran our heat the 1st cold month we had in the morning for about 1.5 hours before work, turned it off when we left, turned it back on when we got home at 6pm and ran it until 11pm and then turned it off when we went to bed. We also ran it whenever we were home on the weekends, turning it off when we left and at night when sleeping. First electric bill $430 and that was not the highest we had. At one point it reached almost $600 for ONE month!!!!! Our apt is about 1000 sq ft. and a 1 bedroom. Are you kidding me???? 2.) AMENITIES: When we moved in we were under the impression that besides the small gym facility, which is $25 per month, that all other amenities were free. At least that is how it has worked at EVERY OTHER apt. complex I have rented from in the last 12 years! Not here. The pool was $100 to use for 3 months in the summer the 1st year we were here. This year it went up to $150. We tried to use the tennis courts this summer to find it locked. We asked why. You need to reserve it and it cost $80 to use for the few months they are opened. 24-hour concierge security. Yeah right, half the time they are sleep if it is after 11pm and only a handful of times have they asked our guests to stop and check in. Anyone can walk right in the building. This place nickels and dimes you for everything! 3.) RENT: The rent for 1 and 4 Longfellow place is outrageous for what you get. And if you renew, most of the time you can expect a large rental increase. Do not be tricked. This place is not what it seems!!! read more

1 Longfellow Place is a nightmare and so is Equity Residential. We had our apartment broken into by employees and made a police report to the Boston Police who did investigate. My pregnant wife and daughter were terrified. We notified them that we were leaving our 12 month lease 2 months early. They did nothing to make us feel safe and have reported us as delinquent on our credit report. Not only were we not safe but the noise every night of our neighbors was complained about 20 times and the police called 3 times. The noise was at 3 or 4 AM. The costs to move out were high and now the credit damage. They will not respond of correct the credit report. Stay away from Equity Residential!! read more

I lived in a apartment belongs to this company for 1 year and 3 months and here are my comments. Pros: large rooms, good service team. Cons: 1. Pricy. For a apartment in the middle of no where they charge over a $1000 for a one bed and jack the rent 10% every year. 2. Highly greedy. They tried to rob me two months early termination fee without stating in lease; trying to take all my security deposit for cleanning even I have done my part well enough. 3. Management team is good when you paying the rent, once you want to leave they turned into cold stones. Trying to take as many penny as they can. 4. 200 people with only one pool that is shared with another apartment building, total of 500 people in summer but only one pool to use. 5. Laundry room is horrible. Water leak a lot. Don't recommend to live with this company's property at any level. I am an angry customer who don't felt being treated correctly. read more

I lived in 1 Emerson place for 2 years. For the most part, my living experience had been very pleasant. PROS: Though some of my neighbors can be really noisy and inconsiderate (Note to the person who thought blasting electronica music at 2am on a school night: SO NOT COOL!), most of my neighbors were cordial. The concierges assigned at 1 Emerson were really nice, helpful and friendly. (Shout out to Hussein and Kedist!). My studio was fairly spacious in comparison to a lot of the studios in the city proper. Their response time to maintenance request is fairly quick. I usually put in maintenance requests online before I leave for work and by the time I get home, they were taken care of. The location of 1 Emerson is probably THE best feature for me since it is within walking distance to just about every single spectacular place in Boston - Charles River, T stations, Beacon Hill, Esplanade, Boston Common, TD Garden, Faneuil Hall.. I could go on and on.. CONS: They will lure you in with a move-in special rate so low that you think you hit the rental jackpot in the context of Boston rental prices only to be slapped with a 20% increase in rent after you renew. In fairness, they only did that to me as I was signing on for year 3. It was non-negotiable too! If it weren't for this deceptive sales move on their part, I would have rated this place higher as over-all my living condition was very good. A special tip: Ask for Melissa Reis if you are interested in looking at places in any of the west end building (and don't do it through a broker! So unnecessary). She helped me tremendously! read more

Literally the worst company I've ever lived in. I live in Alton apt Irvine. On site office people are nice, so I really do feel really bad going at it with them. But unfortunately, the equity company does not give any choice and is apparently very discreet about their contact info that all we have is the poor onsite office people to approach. Problems come up and no one to take care of the problems except the on site office people with little to no power to do anything. Equity's mistakes, I shouldn't have to pay for it and office people shouldn't have to apologize but in then end residents are paying for it. Example, I was charged twice for January rent because their mobile app was "processing" and I guess I am stupid for letting it process for 10mins while I watch tv and didn't jump out or cancel the processing. The same payment went through twice, so I'm seeing $4400 from my acct deducted. I was told to go to my bank to block the processing payment. So that I did, on hold with the bank for one whole hr to get the answer, they cannot block merchant claims, it is not legal to do so. And btw they implied that I did this myself aka I signed into my mobile app twice and made the payment twice... when I clearly told them that it was stuck on processing screen for awhile. Im sure this has happened before right to someone? Stuck on processing screen and then ended up being charged twice.. it happens so just apologize and don't accuse me of logging in twice to make two payments. Anyways I went to the office to stop one of the processing fees. And they told me they don't have authority to cancel the processing payments. My only option is to wait for BOTH charges to go through and then I can be refunded one of them once they have shown they both went through. Good thing I have the funds for equity to make their mistakes on my account right? What if this is happening to someone without the extra fund? How will they be able to let the double payments go through and the wait for the refund? And better yet, all this time I cannot get a good equity number to contact to resolve this problem. So my only option now is to let the double payments go through. A LOT of other problems that are just left unresolved. Literally you will be sitting there feeling hopeless Bc the place you are renting from that is suppose to solve THEIR problems will not be doing so. And you will be left with their mistakes at your cost. Don't rent from this company. It is absolutely horrible. Irvine company is better. Equity is honestly I have no more energy to say anything. I will buys the bullet and get out of here ASAP read more

I have been living in 10 emerson for four months now, I will put it very simply, the only reason for living here is the location. That's it, and sometimes I even wonder if it is worse the price and the pain. Building is old, elevators break down all the time, plumbing is quite terrible and, noise is just too much. Noise from the neighbours, you can hear them shower sometimes... and noise from the high traffic neighbourhood. Again the only reason for living here is the location. READ THE FINE PRINT when signing a lease!!!! If you have even the slightest doubt that you may not be there for the entire year, STAY AS FAR AWAY as you can! Your rent will jump in cost (not by $10's & $20's, but by $100's) when you receive your statement monthly. They will tell you that you have to give a 60 day notice and there will be no repercussions, but it is quite the opposite. Your rent will jump in cost when you receive your statement monthly and vary. We hit a personal tragedy with our family, gave our notice and paid until we left. I was told that they would make an effort to rent out my unit as a top priority, and 4 months later, it still has not been rented. And they are STILL BILLING ME! Now I am showing a bill for $31,000! Please do not make the same mistake that we did, and do not take anybody at face value. Do yourself the favor and rent from a smaller agency that has a heart and not this company. I was told that they would make an effort to rent out my unit a top priority, and 4 months later, it still has not been rented and they are STILL BILLING ME. This event has completely destroyed my credit score. Yes, the building is attractive, but I promise, it is not worth the risk. My honest and in-depth review of the Pegasus apartment We lived at the Pegasus Apartments for 2 years starting in April of 2017 and I would like to give my honest account of the pros and cons of living here. Buckle up this is a long one, but I promise it is helpful. Let's start off with the Pros * Rooftop pool/gym/hangout/BBQ area was one of the best features of Pegasus. * All the concierge and leasing agents were extremely helpful throughout our stay anytime we needed help (big ups to Amal, Avery, & Alex. I apologize for missing some other names!) * Can't forget the maintenance guys either, they were always quick and extremely helpful! * The apartments are small (that's just DTLA) but they are nice and set up well (minus the all-in-one washer/Dryer). The AC worked great for somebody that likes to keep it cold in their apartment. * Mixer events! I have never stayed anywhere that did this, but these were great, and we did make a few friends that have moved on from the Pegasus that we are still in touch with. Anybody that is not from LA knows how hard it is to make friends and having them in the same apartment as you make it easier to hang out! * These guys are pet friendly and extremely welcoming of them. I have found this to not to be common in places that even claim to be pet friendly. * Freight elevator is a godsend for moving in/out. This is not common but an amazing feature of this place. The Cons * To start, I had scheduled an apartment walk and show up to see we are double booked (oldest trick in the book to put the sales pressure on). Well it worked because we were blinded by that glorious rooftop pool. We jumped into our apartment before taking a minute to consider other factors. (see below) * I will accept partial responsibility for this, but we were never clued in that the apartment we were moving into would have the new metro construction going on around the clock for the next year or so. (Arc flashes lighting up the entire room at night, and the sounds of cutting and grinding that were supposed to stop at 9 P.M. keeping us up) not fun for people that wake up for work at 4 A.M. would have been nice to get a heads up to potentially consider another area of the building. * The lighting in these apartments is pathetic even by California apartment standards. 2 terribly dim lights in the kitchen and dining room using some goofy bulb that can't be swapped out with something better. Normally I wouldn't write this item down but for an apartment that costs 2500+ dollars for a 1 bedroom I felt it belonged here. * The all-in-one washers and dryers got to go. They cannot keep up with people that go to work/gym/outs demand. 1 load can take up to 3 hours from beginning to end and your clothes will still wind up wrinkled. They have on site laundry, but this rant is long enough without diving into that mess. Again, probably not worthy of putting on a con list but I will refer you to my last statement regarding apartment cost. * Our neighbors F@*!&#g sucked. This isn't necessarily the Pegasus' fault but after a 9+ months of off and on battle over banging a subwoofer loud enough so you cant even carry a conversation in your apartment without hearing (thun, thun, thun) rattle through your head, I can't help but wish they would have done more with them. (I may be asking a bit much here, but it was the #1 reason we decided to leave). I am still in the process of dealing with this item, but the deposit charges process has been a mess so-far. A week after my departure I was hit with nearly 900$ in "damages". I am fully aware that I am not perfect and that there would be deductions, but this has felt excessive. The biggest mistake being that I requested an initial inspection to fix potential "damages". The inspection was performed but I never received a follow up on these items. This has left me blindsided. I will update this review depending on the outcome. Word of advice DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT!! Take pictures, save your emails, and make copies of all paperwork you submit and receive. I am usually on these items but moving is stressful and when you have one day to move out and into a new spot its easy to miss those last critical steps. DO NOT wind up in the same position as me! Overall, we liked our stay at the Pegasus Apartments. It's unfortunate that our neighbors and this deposit dispute have left a sour taste in our mouth, but we did enjoy our time here before that started up. We liked living in downtown and would consider living there again in the future with a smarter approach. read more

Review of Church Corner Apartments (10 Magazine St, Cambridge): Living in this apartment was possibly one of the worst decisions I've ever made in my life. There are no positives except that the building has a good location, something that resembles a gym, an Amazon locker, and an attached parking garage (with falling ceilings that have damaged the car next to me). SO MANY issues - where do I begin? 1) The community manager Colleen is by far the worst part of this building. She was unresponsive to me and my roommate about issues we've had - such as a leaking roof that couldn't get fixed for a month and kept recurring because instead of renovating the roof, they just kept cheaply patching it up. Then the vendor they hired to re-paint the water damages indoors dropped paint all over the carpet in an area they weren't even supposed to be painting and dripped paint all over my things! I asked Colleen about this and I was patient in that she had to follow up with the vendor, but then she straight up ghosted me after telling me she'd have an answer for me by the next business day. I've been trying to contact her for over a month now and her associates keep telling me she'd get back to me. The vendor damaged $300 worth of stuff. All in all, Colleen is RUDE, unresponsive, and incompetent as a building manager. My friends in the building have had similar experiences. Colleen was the worst part of our living experience. 2) Part of my closet had a broken rod when I moved in. Instead of replacing it, maintenance put DUCT TAPE on the rod as a fix. WTF 3) Again, the ceiling is LITERALLY falling down. I lived right below their sundeck roof (if you can call it that), and I'd wake up to pieces of the disgusting white plastered ceiling on my face and my bed sheets. My clothes in the closet were constantly covered in white residue from the ceiling. THEY REALLY NEED TO REPLACE THAT ROOF/CEILING. Disgusting. 4) They will also try to charge you fees wherever possible.. they tried to charge me for a full month of June parking when my lease ended on June 1st. 5) The office's posted hours are a joke. It's never open, especially in the summer and fall months. Don't rely on the office being open to accept your packages. If you don't mind dealing with an incompetent building manager that allows vendors to damage your belongings and leaves your roof leaking for a month while slapping back with rude emails, be my guest. read more

Equity Residential offers attractive, beautifully located "luxury" apartments at staggeringly high rents with zero sensitivity to basic resident concerns about documented forcible intrusions, destruction of property, rats, and ancient, falling-apart appliances. Numerous trespasses, an unlawful entry, destroyed security cameras and padlocks, and not one word of acknowledgement or assistance from the corporate office, just a demand that we re-sign our lease 60 days before expiration at $6,519.20 per month (yes, $6,519.20) or let ER begin showing the apartment. I wonder how prospective renters will feel about the multiple openly visible rat traps (pest control is evidently the resident's responsibility), grisly photos of decapitated rodents, ten individual security cameras (again, the building has none, not in back where it matters most), the oversize photos of previous trespassers and intruders (to remind us in case we spot them lurking in the distance), glass breakage alarms on every window, double siren alarms on our patio gate (Equity Residential won't install a fob system in back, only in front, so individually installed siren alarms were our only practical option), plus myriad tripwires if prospective renters decide to visit the patio. Eventually, a dog or baby will be bitten by the rats, a violent trespasser will injure or kill a tenant, or an ancient appliance will catch fire and destroy multiple units, but ER will no doubt insist it took reasonable precautions (double-speak for hiring lawyers), when the cheapest and most reasonable precautions were systematically ignored. 1 Harborside Place in Jersey City has breathtaking views and is just 2 blocks from PATH, but it is rat-infested and plagued by trespassers. Pack a rifle, mace, a butcher's knife, or whatever, and NEVER leave your door or window ajar. read more

The absolute worst company ever and they should be ashamed of themselves. The way they are handling this pandemic is disgraceful. The managers are not sympathetic and are trash. All they do is charge fees for everything and do not try to work with any of their residents who are mainly young professionals in their early twenties. They are a large company and strong-arm you into making decisions because they know they can. All of their managers should be fire and the problem most likely lies at the top of the chain. There is zero accountability or supervision over the managers. Parc East apartments are an awful place to and I wouldn't recommend that my dog live here. read more

Things have gotten phyiscal with the other tenant and threatened the livelihood of my family. I lived in 1 Emerson Place in Boston for 1.5 years and although most of my living experience was pleasant, I would definitely try to avoid renting from Equity at all costs. Pros: - The location. The main draw for me was how convenient it was to the Red Line stop and other places within Boston. I commuted to work via the T and had friends who lived nearby. - The wonderful concierge staff who are very nice, receive packages and try to help you in any way they can. It's also nice to know that there is someone who stays late at night to watch out for any people who might try to sneak into the apartment. - The space of the apartments. I had a 860 sq. ft. 1-bedroom apartment that overlooked the Charles River. At first, the prices seemed reasonable but they increased the rent price after the 1st year. Cons: - There is high turnover at the leasing office and most leasing consultants are not equipped to help in a meaningful way. They are extremely incompetent. During my rental tour, the leasing consultant couldn't show me a 1-bdrm because she had either mixed up the keys or chosen an apartment that something was living in and we walked in on someone who just got out of the shower (awkward). The leasing consultant also failed at providing me the Rental Bylaws (even though I was bound to these rules if I were to sign the lease). - They charge a $500 amenity fee that is bogus and illegal. In MA, apartment complexes aren't allowed to charge a community fee or amenity fee. Archstone and Equity were sued in a class action lawsuit for this. To this day, Equity tries to evade the law by charging this fee to residents on the 2nd month and by calling it 'additional rent'. - Lack of responsibility for anything. After I moved out and paid a hefty lease breaking fee (~$3500), Nstar continued to charge me for electricity after I had moved out so I called Equity about it. Equity tried to say that this was my fault. After a few phone calls, Equity agreed to reimburse my charges because this was electricity that I had not been using/ Equity was benefiting from. The experience with Equity was terrible. I will never rent from them again- they are AWFUL. read more

So the Longfellow Towers are not all that. The reason is because of the electric bills!!!!! Before we moved in we called to find out the electric bill for the 1000 sq.ft. one BR apartment we were moving into. It was something like $230. We moved in at the end of June. Little did we know that our electric bills for the winter would be $430, $580, $600 for the last three bills!!!!! The insulation in this bldg. is very poor. We sealed off all the giant windows with that shrink wrap but it didn't help. Just beware its going to be expensive. We know people who have studios and they say they pay $200. We didn't believe that it could be so much. Now we're moving when our lease is up, a year earlier than we wanted but there are plenty of places that include heat. I did read yelp reviews about the heat, but I ignored them because all the amenities. After a while who cares about a concierge sitting there, a tiny gym, an expensive dry cleaner, and expensive parking. It's $30 each cat pet rent, and $2.05 for a load of laundry. Can't forget the fire alarm that has gone off 4 times in 7 months and the slow elevators. The only thing that was good is the pool and zip car rental. read more

Get ready to spend all your money on an outdated apartment. I lived at 10 Emerson. CONS: Everything is outdated. The kitchen appliances are old and cheap. The counters are made with that fake granite that you can peel off. Same with the bathrooms. They have hideous 70's style vanities + mirrors. If you don't give two months notice that you are leaving they charge you two months rent after you leave. At the time I wasn't sure if I was moving. I did end up moving and got charged. Such Bullshit. The concierge are useless. Particularly Dwane who just sits and stares at his Android phone all day. I once accidentally got locked out of my apartment and it took him a half an hour to get the key to let me in. A HALF AN HOUR. It was as if he was trying to walk as slow as possible. I watched him stop and chat with people along the way. Meanwhile Im just standing in the lobby waiting to get back into my apartment. The fact that they keep the keys to 10 Emerson in a separate building is pretty idiotic if you ask me. PROS: Large living space + great view. In conclusion, if you have the money to spend on an apartment in that price range don't waste your time here. There are plenty of brand new buildings in Boston with updated features. read more

As everyone comments about Trump Place - the doorman, concierge and maintenance people are wonderful - The management company staff (especially the new "Community Manager") are a bunch of unhelpful, disrespectful to tenants, lying louts who constantly ignore inquiries or problems. Overall, the quality of the tenants has degraded over the year we've been living here, with lots of transient types on short leases or "group housing" going on (young student types with rich Dads and Moms) - We had a nice quiet older couple who lived next door but who moved out; now we have Millenials who blast music through our bedroom wall. When we brought up the noise issue to the newly installed "Community Manager" (the actual manager is never around and the assistant always picks up the phone - probably a family member of some senior management company executive who needed a job), they gave us the run-around without any desire to solve the problem: They always state they have to 'investigate" and then never get back to you....We know other tenants who have complained about living at Trump Place (we talk therapeutical at the in-house gym) - one who has to stuff towels under their front door due to exotic pungent food smells coming from the apartment across the hall (they said their neighbors were a foreign student group living situation - who prop their door open with a chair while they cook to air out the apartment!) My recommendation - Although the Hudson River views and the neighborhood are nice: KEEP AWAY from Trump Place; it's not a quality apartment building (especially not a luxury building) - we will be moving out as soon as our lease expires! read more

Summary: Be warned and DO NOT MOVE HERE. Pros: Great location (929 Mass Ave), Great view from some balconies Cons: Where to start? When you move here, expect constant issues in your apartment, specifically with water intrusion. Water coming in through the balcony door, travelling underneath the wooden floor and soaking everything standing on it, water wetting all your stored items underneath the sinks due to regular leaks, water coming into your closet ruining all your clothes, water coming through the walls building black mold, even where you sleep, water dripping from your windows inside. Elevators break regularly, water shut downs are frequent. The Management team is great for parcels and that's about it. Expect them to be polite, but pretty much completely ignore you if it's not a routine clogged drain request. Ignore you for over a year of constant chasing. That is, if they even stay that long - we currently see a full turnover of staff every 3 months. It's Equity apartments behind this that seems rotten. I don't know a single person in the building that's happy with management and having to chase them to maintain healthy living standards and not sleep in mould or breathe in the asbestos from the floor boards is stressful and impacting my mental health. Not something you expect when you pay $2,700 for a tiny 1-bedroom apartment. We're not getting a lawyer involved for a concession and can't wait to be out of here. read more

1. You make an agreement to pay rent late (by 8 days) and you've paid rent 20 months (4 months shy of 2 years) and the company gives you a notice to quit. 2. The notice to quit is incorrectly drafted in so many ways, that even if their attorneys file an action in the local Court, it will get thrown out! 3. They Retaliate against tenants who provide information to the Attorney General about illegal billing End all end, do not rent from Equity Residential, they are not, and never will be, a good company to rent from. My former landlord (in the BC / Cleveland Circle area) exceeded this company. To bad, the apartments are awesome but you pay for the "awesomeness" aka pool, fitness center, fire place. read more

This company is breaking several laws and is abusive to tenants. There are rats, roaches, and they are not fulfilling any service requests. There are break-ins on a daily basis, home invasions, assaults, and vandalism. If you complain or threaten to make public posts, they will (and have) retaliate against you personally. When moving out, they will charge you for renovations when they refused to do device requests. There are broken lights all over the property and drug dealers working out of some units. Management refuses to do anything. They don't even report when there is an assault of a resident or an assailant on the loose. It looks bad to their image so they just deny it. Lights have not been fixed for more than a year. They deny it. They've been caught lying to the city code enforcements about broken lights and lack of security. This billion dollar company is evil, dangerous, and public health hazard. The black mold spores are very high in their properties. Do not use anything by Equity Residential or they will screw you over while smiling. Do not consider. Especially if you have children, this property is not safe at all for you. read more

If I could give 0 stars, or negative stars, I would. This is quite literally the worst management company I have ever experienced or known about. They are sneaky people with the aboslute worst business practices. They are the proto-typcial "evil corporate entity". I lived in Longfellow place for a year and let me say that all the management (Equity Residential) cares about is money. They say that they are all about customer satisfaction, but they lie and make gross misrepresentations to their prospective tenants. When we asked them what our expected nergy bill would be during peak months (winter/summer) we were told to expect around $60 per person. That was a gross misrepresentation because it ended being about $150-200 per month. They will do whatever they can to get you to sign. They had told us that there would be "minor renovations" for a small amount of time, but in reality there was jackhammering everyday starting at 7am and it continued for 9 months. When we tried to talk to them about it they completely disregarded our complaints and when it came time to renew our lease, they decided to not take our circumstances into consideration whatsoever and raised our rent by almost 30%!!!!! We tried to be reasonable and meet them half way, but they refused to even discuss the matter with us. These are not the type of people that want you to have a good and smooth experience while living there, they want to take as much money as they possibly can from you with hidden charges and fees at the end of your lease. WATCH OUT FOR THESE PEOPLE THEY WILL TRY AND TRICK YOU!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!! read more

The power went out and the entire staff was going up and down stairs to help people out and even had the vice president answering the phone. Great place to live and amazing staff read more

We lived in 10 Emerson for 2 years. First the positives: The location is great and the apartments are spacious. Maintenance is responsive. The downside is that the cost is very high for what you get. Unless you live in one of the new buildings there is nothing luxury about the units. They are old and poorly maintained. The laundry rooms are busy, the elevators are always broken, they will not turn off the heat until there is something like 1 week of days over 65 degrees in a row even if it is 80 degrees like it was a couple of years ago. The worst part of living there is the management. They are unpleasant, impersonal, and care only about getting as much of your money out of you as possible. The leasing office is comprised mainly of a bunch of 20 year olds who do not have experience they need. It is difficult to get in touch with anyone in the leasing office to speak to when they try to jack up your rent every year. But most offensive to me was how impersonal they are. I paid rent by autopay, and one month their system for some reason dropped our autopay and we got an eviction notice on the door and in the mail. No phone call or anything. After finally reaching the manager Kory Lavelle who said "he'd look into it" and that it did show the autopay existed he assured me the problem was fixed. Next month another eviction notice etc. These people are there 9-5 to make money and really could care less about your satisfaction. Also know that your rent will increase by at least 10% every year. They basically don't negotiate that at all, especially if your lease starts in June or July which is the peak time because of the MGH residency cycle. To break your lease you need to fork out 1.5 months rent. read more
