This review has been long overdue, but after the amount of times my family and I have been here,…read moreit's easy to say I can leave this raving review in complete confidence. My family and I have been eating at the butcher shop for a little over a year, pretty much weekly. It's our go to spot. We take our friends and family here anytime we want to treat them to a tasty meal! I have tried most of the items on the menu and truly have never been disappointed. For the longest time, the burger was my go to choice and the patty melt was my husband's go to. Both delicious! But our absolute favorite meal here lately is the brisket sandwich, a Thursday special, and I hate to even share this because I don't want them to sell out of it before we make it there on Thursday nights. It is SO tasty. The brisket is nice and juicy, and the sourdough bun makes for the perfect combination. You can't go wrong with the side you choose - French fries delicious, onion rings delicious, chips - you guessed it, also delicious. Kids meals - the grilled cheese is good, the chicken tenders are top notch. My husband and I often steal a bite of our kids' chicken fingers and every single time we say, "man these are good". Other meals I have tried that are delicious- chicken salad sandwich, hot ham and cheese, beef stew (so good!!!). Appetizers - Texas toothpicks are a must! And if talking about how good their food is wasn't enough to make you plan your next meal here... the staff are so incredibly kind. We love them! My husband and I truly love this restaurant and love everything we've tried. Try it out, but don't eat all the brisket!!

When I opened up the 1st one, it was huge. Burrito would be a better description. Tortilla y beans were homemade. You can just tell. Lots of bacon and fresh cilantro. So very good. I ate about 1/2. Finished the other half off later that afternoon. So, yep, they got good breakfast stuff.

My taco had brisket which I wasn't that impressed with. (Note- I am a foodie & live close to several Texas Monthly ranked BBQ joints in Houston.) However, with the salsa & tons of refried beans & potatoes it might get me all the way to Alpine. I am posting photos of the menu. After eating my taco, I will stick with Mexican food in the future. We have a long drive ahead, but were almost disappointed that we were too early for the extensive lunch menu.We really appreciated the kind young woman at the register. She made our stop 5 star.Unfortunately she is headed back to college on Monday. She shared that the owners are fairly new & also own Polo's Mexican Restaurant in Weatherford. We definitely will make Outlaw a breakfast stop on our drive west in the future. I will get a more traditional taco with eggs next time. I will also ask for an extra salsa verde! Perhaps one day we can make hours for Mexican food!

I would like to personally thank Mesquite Pit for taking me on an emotional journey I did NOT sign…read moreup for. Picture this: I'm craving prime rib like it's my last meal on earth. I do the responsible thing and CALL AHEAD like a civilized human being. "Do y'all have prime rib?" I ask. "Yes," they say--with confidence. With conviction. With what I can only assume was zero verification. So I drive my hungry, hopeful self all the way there, already tasting that juicy, perfect bite in my mind... only to be told: "Oops, no they told you wrong, we dont have prime rib " Oops? That's not a minor inconvenience. That's betrayal. That's psychological damage. That's me sitting there questioning my life choices while staring at a menu I no longer trust. No apology worth mentioning, no effort to make it right--just vibes and disappointment. If you're going to crush someone's dinner dreams, at least have the decency to do it over the phone so I can cry in my car at home instead of your parking lot. 10/10 for building anticipation. 0/10 for delivering anything resembling prime rib. Would I come back? Only if I'm emotionally stronger.

The two entrees we ordered for our preteens and it was also a generous portion but they finished it! Two adults ordered the filet steaks. Mine cooked medium was a bit dry. The other cooked medium rare was much juicier. So lean towards medium rare. The shape of the filet was wonky. I'm used to a firm tall filet. I think I saw these are cut in house? Maybe that's why it was wonky. It tasted good tons of grill/smoke flavor which I could have done at home. I don't usually order steak here and I probably won't again. But the sides are great- the green beans have brisket and bacon? Not sure but they were yummy. The baked potato only came with sour cream and cheese. Maybe butter too but it must have melted on the line. No bacon or chives... I was happy to share this restaurant with my family but note to self- try somewhere else next time in town. Ambiance was chill and it's nice that they close at 8:30. Keeps the trouble out. Our server wasn't the best but it looked like other tables had good service.
