I highly recommend Star Plumbing for the most challenging plumbing issues. They are busy so I recommend contacting them early to give lead time to get on their calendar. I also recommend sending photos as Mark correctly diagnosed my top issue and came up with a plan to help me bring a legacy water heater situation into compliance and make a home habitable. What I liked most was that Bill was a licensed plumber who was experienced enough to test his pipework for leaks before leaving. Star is reasonably priced for its quality of work. What I would liked even more is if Jason had showed up earlier to assist Bill earlier in carrying a water heater and uninstalling a legacy water heater. Note that it has a wide cargo truck for delivering long pipes or water heater and every foreseeable plumbing tool so it needs a larger than average parking above ground spot to succeed. I had a small leak in one bathroom that was leaking down to the ceiling, plumber had to cut open the ceiling to find it but didn't find what the issue was with that one. I told him the bathtub in another bathroom was draining slowly and asked if he could take a look at it, he did but could not figure out what was causing the water to drain slowly, he moved a pipe around and was running the water for awhile, eventually he said he didn't know what the issue was but he could try to figure it out, I said I'll worry about it later, it wasn't a pressing problem as I never had a leak or any issues aside from water draining *slightly* slowly. We come downstairs as he's walking out, I look behind me and MY CEILING UNDER THAT BATHROOM IS ENTIRELY FLOODED. I called Mark who sent someone over but didn't offer to do anything, he left a couple of pipes for us to fix ourselves. I have an infant and water/pieces were falling out of the ceiling where she plays, we had to cut it out ourselves. After that, once it was clear this was a troubleshooting situation (not a straightforward swap), communication stopped - voicemail, an iOS "can I call you later?" auto-text, and then no callback even after I followed up. If you already know what needs to be replaced and want quick, straightforward work, they may be a good fit. In the Spring of 2023, my outdoor spigot broke, along with the copper feed. It was complicated accessing the pipe inside the wall. My 83 year old mom called me to tell me that "water was pouring out of her ice maker." She lives in Springfield, and I live about 45 minutes away. Anyway, I was referred to Star Plumbing by a friend, for which I am VERY grateful! I called them and they answered right away, and after I explained the situation, they assured me that they would have somebody take care of it right away. Within minutes, I received a call from Mark, who explained that the issue was probably not plumbing related, but regardless, he would check it out and do what he could to at least stop the flow of water to the fridge, while ensuring that that she still had water to the rest of the house. Mark got to my mom's house within the hour (AMAZING!!), and was able to locate and close the shut off valve to the fridge to stop the flooding. Because the valve was difficult to access, Mark extended and replaced it, so that it will be much easier to access in the future. Bottom line, Star Plumbing/Mark went above and beyond to respond to this urgent situation, and the cost was reasonable. I can't recommend them highly enough!!! read more

All the reviews are correct - Star Plumbing is a GREAT plumbing company. Professional, competent, responsive and reasonably priced. I believe John (Jon) was the Plumber that came to my home and he was great. He arrived to my house right on time, was very professional, quickly assessed the issue and got right to work. I am now going to use Star Plumbing for my own home and rentals. Everything below is written for the person that feels like they have been taken advantage of in the past. There is never a time when I need svc more urgently than when I call a plumber - burst pipes, leaks, clogged drains, etc. - I always feel at a disadvantage as once the company is out there, in this kind of situation, I am going to say yes no matter how expensive and how would I really know if they are being honest - I'm not the expert. I don't mind reasonable charges - plumbers work hard, they need a lot of equipment and the work can be messy- but you know when something does not seem reasonable or you wonder if you're being hoodwinked. Scheduling: Someone answered right away, took my info and within a few hours, a person named Mark called to gather more info and scheduled right away. I gave him a window of a week and he said, let's just get this fixed ASAP. Estimate/Cost: He provided a quote right on the phone. No we'll come out and give you an estimate, etc. I was charged exactly what he quoted Integrity/Honestly: I'm going w/my gut here but I think this is the kind of company that they are here to do the job, do it well and not make it more onerous than it has to be Clean: I had a clogged drain, the work was likely harder than originally envisioned, definitely messier and John mustered through with complete professionalism and kept the area scrupulously clean (which was hard because he had to remove waste from the trap underneath the sink) I love doing my Google and Yelp reviews as well to find the BEST company, offering the BEST value (notice not cheap, just a company that will offer you fair prices and are honest) and would highly recommend you stop your research and just call this company if you need a Plumber. p.s. If you use this company, you'll notice they have a really large truck. Not a van but a UHAUL kind of truck. There was no formal greeting before barging in the door and was rude when she asked him very simple questions. I read all the great reviews for this company so I had high hopes of good service. I asked them to diagnose and find the source of a minor leak. While on the service call I pointed out three jobs I needed done (replacing a shower/tub faucet, and replacing a water supply valve and an outside spigot). The plumber discussed with me, took photos and promised to provide an estimate. I did not receive an estimate for a week so I called for status and left a message with the person who answered. Still nothing. Several more weeks went by. I called for status again and left a message with a company rep again inquiring about when I might receive the estimate. Another week has gone by with no response from Star Plumbing. So I am giving up. Very disappointed in this company -- I don't know what's going on with them but my advice is -- don't waste your time with them. If my three jobs were too small to warrant their time fine -- at least have the decency to tell me so instead of wasting my time. How dishonest and unprofessional! read more

I am sure I have written a review on Star Plumbing before but it may have been on a Vienna closed Facebook group. I wonder if other plumbers get five stars but I would give them six if I could. I first used them when I moved to Falls Church in 2002 when I needed a new A.G. Smith water heater. I didn't pay much attention to price because I had so many other things to take care of. I moved to Vienna in 2012 and somehow found that very old Star invoice AFTER I had already had Booze install an A.G. Smith water heater (same specs) for about $900. (In the intervening years I had used Booze exclusively. Having lived previously in Vienna from 1977 to 1998, they were the only show in town since there was no Internet to compare prices and I continued to use them in Falls Church for ten years--and always groused about their prices.) Just out of curiosity, I anonymously called Star Plumbing and asked what the same water heater would have cost. SLIGHTLY OVER HALF! Mark, a 30-year plumber, is always here quickly.
