New HVAC filter, reset breaker. Thermostat batteries are fine. Still not kicking on. Sent Yelp message to RES because they have always been quick to respond. And they did this time as well and the woman who gave me a call was nice and tried to help. Pretty disappointed that they can't quickly swing by today. From what I've read, it's likely a dirty flame sensor or the ignitor switch (neither of which is a long job - I just don't have the tools). HVAC less than 5 years old, so parts are under warranty with RES; however, I had to call someone else. Bottom line: Someone else is coming today, but I could end up paying for parts. Kind of feels like my current needs weren't lucrative enough for RES to make a concerted effort to swing by.

Our unit was 13 years old, so it was about time for a new system. We decided to replace whole system as replacing a compressor is quite expensive basically half the cost of a new one. Mike came that night to price out a new system. I got two quotes from other companies. But decided on Shanahan because of their reputation, service as well as pricing. Talked with Mike and Conner (the owner) about our options and they came on a Saturday to install even though they didn't have an opening until Thursday. After using a roster of independent plumbers and electricians, I wanted an established company for reliability and communication. Michael & Sons does both. They will have someone to you quickly, including in emergencies. Scheduling is easy and communication helpful. There's a peace of mind that comes with both. However, we (and our friends) find that they are hit or miss. Some people they send are excellent and others aren't great. Additionally, their services are expensive to other companies and people. Also, a very bad experience clouds my opinion. An AC guy came out for our annual checkup. He put more refrigerant in. 12 hours later, the coil exploded. An odd coincidence. After looking at our unit, we were promised a unit the next day for $25,000. (What the what?!) Once they tried to get it in, it wouldn't fit because the initial guy didn't measure the space. He admitted his mistake, but as we unraveled, all of his promises were wrong and empty. I'll never use Michael & Sons again.
