Small as nail salons go but probably the best I've been to. Great customer service and never overly crowded.

I've come here for about 6 appointments, which was one full nail set and about 5 fills. The nails were done well, but the customer service with Sheryl was not good. I'm never greeted, maybe just a head nod to indicate where she wants me to go. When I sit, I may show a photo or explain what I want. It's hard to know if the request was received, as there usually isn't a verbal indication that I was heard. I've also made other requests during the appointment, such as "I like rounded edges please" and do not get any acknowledgment. Sheryl doesn't chat. Not that I'm chatty, but a simple 'how are you?' or 'did you like your nails?' is just part of normal customer service, in my opinion. I've begun to feel very awkward there, like saying anything to her is not welcome, even a hello. Other places will learn your name, thank you for your patronage, say "see you next time"--anything, really. I asked the friend who recommended this shop to me if Sheryl's customer service was the same for her. She said yes, and that Sheryl just focuses on the nails. While I understand that, this type of service (or lack thereof) is rude. I asked my friend because I thought maybe Sheryl didn't like something about ME--age, race, size, etc. Once, in an effort to break the ice, I asked her what she was watching. She had AirPods in and was looking at the iPad. She snapped at me that she wasn't watching anything. I thought maybe as a newer customer she was cold because she didn't know me. When I've asked for a few things, like ombré, it's always explained to me why that isn't possible. I started to show the photo via their instagram page to get a confirmation that she will do what I want before I go. I don't ask for anything complicated and my nails are short. The last time, to ensure that I'm not told she can't do it, I pulled the photo of what I wanted directly from their instagram page. Sheryl called me once before an appointment to confirm what I wanted as her time was short. As I said hello, there was just a rushed query without a greeting. It took me 2 repeats of her query to even understand who I was talking to. I've never been offered a beverage, a greeting, an offer to make the next appointment, etc. Sheryl's responses to some of these low reviews is the most I've heard from her in about 6 hours in her chair. I will say that Sheryl does great nails. I really like their online appointment system. If only nails are important to you, and not the customer service experience, then I can recommend this shop. I guess I'm finding the overall customer service experience lacking, and that always feel awkward and very uncomfortable. For me, this shop isn't a good fit. I'm in ELP working as a travel nurse, on a COVID contract. I decided I wanted to get a pedicure and get some dip on my nails. After searching, I loved everything about Star Nails! I had an appointment today, and Kenny greater me as soon as I walked in! I had just gotten off of work, and he could tell that I was tired. While doing my nails, he made me laugh so hard and feel so welcome! He was actually familiar with my hometown in VA, so we talked about that amongst other things. I had a pedicure too!! I chose the Peppermint/Cucumber pedi! Let me just say, that this was by far the BEST pedicure I had ever had in my life! Every part of it was fabulous. I encourage anyone to go here! Let's be honest, nail/beauty salons are essential. I checked Yelp before booking to make sure they had the necessary protections, which they do: pexiglass between nail technicians and customers, and between pedicure chairs as well as mandatory masks. That being said, I saw many disinfectants available, plus hand sanitizers, and they were kick to wipe down the seats once customers got up from them. I felt relatively safe, so that being said, back to the regular review: I was abLe to book online: gel manicure and deluxe pedi. Once arrived, Kenny was ready for me immediately. He is very helpful and honest, and wanted to make sure I had a great experience. He even suggested a better nail color than the one I had originally chose, as it looked better on my skin tone, and wasn't as "watered down" He did a wonderful job. Next up, I was placed on the pedi chairs, with massage, and the nail technician was also very attentive, so I upgraded from the deluxe pedi to the lux. This comes with exfoliation, stone massage and paraffin wax. The massage gave me chills. It was so good. I left floating on cloud nine. Remember to bring cash for tips, although one can pay with cards, or Apple/google pay. Plenty of parking. And there's a coffee shop next door that offers superb ice coffee. And here is what a great lash place looks like!! After a terrible experience at Berry Lash at the fountains, Star nails saved me! The previous lashes had fallen off by half in only 4 days (despite after care) and the girl at star nails saved me! The fill was at the right price point $60, and normal time, about 45 min. My only complaint which did not take away from the experience was that the girl was a little heavy handed and kind of almost poked me in the eye a couple times trying to disconnect some of the lashes that were clumped together at the end but honestly it was fine. Zero burning or stinging at all, lashes looked the exact same even after sleeping on them. Go here if you need new lashes or a fill bc they absolutely rock. read more

I started coming here a few weeks ago and have had 2 great experiences. I never write reviews but I always read them so I thought I'd post one for this salon. I got acrylics because I bite my nails and knew my bf was going to propose that week and wanted them to look good in pictures. I was nervous about going to a nail salon in the time of COVID but they are great with precautions (spacing out clients, hand washing, plexiglass). I felt safe. You can make an appt via call or text. I'd recommend that because they are always busy and limiting # of clients. The only other time I got acrylics years ago they broke off a week later but these lasted beautifully until they grew out. I got them filled today (2.5 weeks but my nails grow fast). I wanted them super short and natural and they did an amazing job. Andy is great and has so much attention to detail. I'm incredibly disappointed. I came here after reading reviews and was happy with the selection of dip powders available. I had a three week old dip manicure that needed to be soaked to be removed; I sat for an hour (I timed it) with my nails soaking, while three different people checked my nails and assured me that they'd be right back to finish. I kept asking how long I'd have to wait while they attended to other customers that arrived after me, but was told my dip manicure would only take twenty minutes and they'd be right with me. I ended up leaving and the man who talked me to me last didn't charge me for removing my previous manicure. I had to leave and my nails were worse than when I walked in. My previous manicure wasn't done very thick and had cracked on several nails, there's no reason it should have taken an HOUR to remove that! Edit: I walked in at 4:35 pm, sat at the station at 4:47 pm (evidenced by time stamps of text messages sent), and left five minutes prior to posting this. I am more disappointed in the way I was treated, and staff's attention to others even when my dip polish was off. I sat with my nails in this state for 10 minutes and was told a new dip manicure would take twenty minutes by staff. Hopefully others have a better experience here than I did. read more

After moving here from Houston, I needed to find a good nail place quick. Overall, I really like this place. They have a lot of selections to choose from with great prices. This has been my second time here. My first time was great. However, the second time could have been better. The lady did not apply the top coat correctly on my gel and I pointed it out on one of my fingers and she seemed annoyed that I did and quickly fixed it but didn't take the time to look at the others. Went in this morning to get a pedi BIGGGGGG MISTAKE!! Couldn't BREATHE because of the strong incense burning. From the back of the shop a woman who identifies herself as the manager acting very weird stomped towards me. She looked annoyed guess I was the wrong color. She never greeted me or looked up at me. She asked what did I need with disgust in her face. She made me feel so uncomfortable so I decided to leave her shop. I would much rather find another place that will appreciate my business. The place can use an updated looks very old and unkept. If she wants to attract customers make everyone feel welcome. I also have screen shots of everything you posted to include your nasty derogatory remarks. I get it you didn't like the color of my skin. Trust me I will never step foot into your shop. Scheduled a Lash Lift and didn't realize you can only schedule 24hrs out. So when I showed up I was told my appt wasn't until tomorrow. However they were very flexible and worked me right in! The process was pain free (first time since I started getting lifts years ago that it didn't burn/itch). The results are amazing so far. I will update in a few days to see how they last. I used to frequent this salon because the overall do a neat job. However, I will not return to this salon. The rudeness is ridiculous. How can you make eye contact with a customer and not greet them. No "hello" or "we'll be right with you". What I got instead after around 2-3 mins of standing at the door looking at everyone was "you have pointment?" I said yes. This time while not making eye contact the "manager" Cherly says "just go wash your hand and pick a color" I should've left at that moment, but I had already booked my services online and would've been charged a penalty. I maybe was a tad overwhelmed with the amount of colors, but honestly who doesn't love some good choices. She soaked off my previous dip and was very patient with me during the process (I've had my current nail person 3 years). She eased all my concerns and anxiety.
