Place is not bad $10 for a manicure is a great price. The only problem is the acrylic smell kills me I am so used to not having to smell that in a salon anymore. I did wait 30 minutes on friday around 3:00. Also, NOTHING is disinfected which is gross. The reuse the foot pumice 100 times and people's dead skin is stuck in it! Won't be going back here. But I just wanted to leave and the factor that she saw what she had done to my nails with the top coat and did not fix it is why I just wanted to leave. I am visiting from out of town. Staying at Sleep Inn across the street. Stopped in last minute late Saturday afternoon and they were so kind to accommodate me for a pedicure. Very pleased with care and results. She suggested a darker shade of polish and thought what I selected might not show up on light skin. She was absolutely correct. I went to Star Nails today after having a terrible experience at another salon. I got a French manicure elsewhere, acrylic powder fill... Days later the nails were chipping, and breaking! I've been getting fills for quite a while now and never have I had a nail break let alone multiple nails! Today they completely fixed the damage and rebuilt my poor broken off thumb and pinky nail, I was looking haggard. The pedicure was good, cheap $20 and a really nice massage. I think it was Sarah who did my nails and she kept them nice and thin how I like, made sure nails on both hands matched and went very quick but still did a good job. I moved down here a month ago and have found my local nail salon. read more

Took my cousins for a girls day and we got our nails done. We got the mani and pedi combo. Usually I get my nails done to a place near my house, but since I was visiting from out of state, decided to get in done to bond with the girls. I was not impressed with the quality of service. I mean, sure they do your nails... but that's it. No scrubs or massages or keratin treatment... apparently everything that normally goes for a mani and pedi isn't normal for them, and each additional feature costs more. My aching feet were craving a pedicure and massage today. I had been here before and received a satisfactory pedicure. This woman never even massaged my feet! She massaged my legs for a few moments,and then proceded to do my polish! I guess I should have asked for a foot massage? Some spas pay extra attention to this-it's usually my favorite part! She also dipped the nail clippers into the water my feet had been soaking in and put them back in her drawer!Then when she was doing my maincure, she took the tools out of her drawer in a packet that you put in an autoclave to sterilize them, The packet was already open, so I was thinking-OK, they have them open ahead of time. But when she put them back in the same packet when she was done, I was a bit shocked! I think that's the last time for that place! I came into this place around 5pm and wanted a pedicure and full set French manicure. I got passed around with 3 workers because the second guy CLEARLY did not know how to do a French manicure. OK so it reaches 7pm and the guy literally gave up and another worker had to help this disaster of a manicure. Not only did he still do a bad job, but he filed my nail so hard that he cut me. I thought ok I get it, it's the end of the day but I'm paying for this and I deserve good service. Now it's 715 and they're closed and I'm with the last worker. I read a lot of the earlier reviews and was really looking forward to this place. I found it to be impersonal and sloppy, although a couple of patrons who were obviously regulars to be having a nice time. I was greeted but not told where to find colors to pick. Two different technicians worked on my service (I've no problem with that) but neither spoke to me. Each of them had LOTS to say to each other, but I didn't get the feel that the friendliness extended to an occasional customer. I am looking for a place I can go repeatedly and a technician I can rely on. I'm going to keep looking maybe I'll go back when I'm in a pinch. read more

I had been a customer of this nail salon for years. Tried three different nail techs, all of whom, developed an attitude, were bordering on rude and difficult to communicate with. I wanted to stay a customer as I live down the block and it was convenient but eventually, I had to leave for my sanity. I refuse to pay for a service if the provider is not interested in pleasing me and act like they are doing me a favor. Tina, the owner also has an attitude as well. You know when you have your favorite place to get your nails done but it's too far and you're still hesitant about trying somewhere new ?? Well I was impatient and went to this place to get a much needed pedicure ... It was busy but I got in right away , the chairs were comfy and they had a big selection of polishes , I was told to sit so I did , right next to some lady eating some really smelly oniony food .. Now as you all know getting a pedi is some what relaxing , you can read a mag , put the massager on your chair , there's no reason why I want to smell onions .. Anyhow the lady didn't speak much nor want to get to know me so luckily she asked before using any of the tools she wanted to use . I work in luxury spa so I watch everything ! She was about to cut my nails on the side w the cuticle cutter and I stopped her right away .. Not sure why some places do this ! It's painful and awful !! Then she wanted to use that machine w the metal round tip and I said no thank you , that's not for short nails and that's painful too ! Each tool she pulled up was not disinfected and they were re used especially the pumice , it was worn down and still had other people's dead skin on it !! Ewww foot fungus , cross contamination !! I at that moment said this was express because you don't want to contract an infection from these tools , I've seen people who had to have surgery or serious antibiotics for that . The hot towels were dirty and re used so much that they still smelled old . Needless to say I was dying to get out of there ! At the end if you don't pay w cash you can't leave a tip on your card , yes I would still leave a tip I'm not mean ! But she said not to worry to pay a tip next time I come .. But you see lady , I'm not ever coming back ! Next time I'll drive to my fav nail place Toi Spa where it's clean and each tool is in a band new plastic bag and they offer champagne , wine or coffee ! Never again..... I rarely review anywhere but felt this needed to be said. The salon is ok - classic nail salon, bit dated but clean and tidy. I have just had the worst gel fill-in that I have had. I have had gel nails for 2 years+ and never have I been left with little spikes and lumps. The fill is very thick and within 4 days has come away from the cuticle and nail to the point of a very jagged look around the base of the nail. The guy seemed fine at first but as he neared the end he obviously needed a cigarette break which couldn't wait until I was finished but had to be done while I was under the dryer, then he had to smooth 4 nails and re do the top coat and still I have come out with lumps and bumps. What a waste of $35 - and that is expensive for a fill. read more

I started going here in 2010, they do an ok job, they rush the work, they don't sanitize their equipment properly, they even use a grater to get off hard skin, i had never seen this it was very disturbing, they don't clean their pedicure tubs properly, thanks to them i got a nail fungus. I will never go back to this place, its disgusting! I'1d rather pay my $50 - $70 at a high end spa than pay $30 here so not worth it! read more
