I appreciate the last minute walk in accommodation...but to rush through the job with no attention to detail or proper care is unacceptable. I went in for a simple gel manicure and left with my nails looking like they were done by my 5 year old niece. I had to ask the nail tech for an additional coat; and even still she ignored the flaws. First I would like to say a huge thanks to Christy/Christine for doing an incredible job on my acrylics. I had came in new to the area in search for a nail spa. A week earlier I had gotten an awful acrylic set in California from a place called carnation nails in Ventura Blvd in one day they had all fallen off after doing nothing and they where lifting after an hour. I went into star nails for an acrylic full set and the atmosphere was clean and up to date. I came in as a walk in and was taken in five minutes later Christy was kind and did great on my full set and did exactly what I had asked for the price was $50 and we had given a 10 dollar tip and the price was pretty reasonable and it was in a nice area. I have been getting mani/pedi services here for many years. I always see Lin, I find her to be the best for all my services. She is thorough and thoughtful. If you have health issues or hang nails, she knows how to care for you properly. She also waxes my eyebrows perfectly.There are other technicians who are fabulous too. I called ahead and asked if they could accommodate me as I was 10 minutes away and needed a refill ASAP. They said yes to "come now" so I took an Uber there. As soon as I walked in they stared at me like I had ten heads, no warm greeting. They told me they didn't have anyone to take me for another 2 hours. Communication is obviously lacking, I'm glad I found this out now before giving them the chance to further disappoint me. I'm very disappointed. I was really looking forward to getting my nails done here and had so much excitement due to all the nice nails/designs in the photos. I unfortunately will not return to this place. I don't know the name of the lady that did my nails. She never told me. I think she was Asian American. Good English. She kept talking to me in a weird uncomfortable way. Asking what am I doing. Why are you doing that. Don't do this...don't do that. Her tonality was horrible and I am a quiet person who doesn't do a lot of talking or make a lot of movement. The chair that I was sitting in was semi broken so I couldn't control that either. I never had a pedicure that was painful until I went here. The lady was extremely rough, cutting my skin, I bled a little, and my feet had some pain for about a week. She was rough with my manicure as well. I just never had issues that should allow my manicure and pedicure to hurt. The gel manicure actually looked nice. I was torn on if I should go back or not because the appearance of my hand was good. But then I decided not to go back at all because the gel manicure only lasted A WEEK!! Usually it lasts 3-5 weeks with no peeling. On top of that when I removed the polish from my pedicure I noticed some discoloring in my toes. I never had the issue either! I am highly disappointed especially because the photos of others look good, but t it's not worth it. read more

Been going to Lynn at Star Nails for over a year now. I love her! She does my acrylic nails with gel and eyebrows perfectly every time I visit. My brows were thin and had a little bald spot when I first started going to her and she nursed them back to health! She always makes my nails look super natural to the point no one thinks my nails are acrylic. They last for weeks on end so even when I'm overdue for a fill I never need a repair. If there are any separations she gladly removes the nail or re-secures it without me even having to ask. read more

Don't be fooled. This place is awful. It has been nearly 2 years since they did my pedicure and the nail on my right big toe still hasn't grown in right. Immediately after leaving, I knew my nails didn't look right. Soon after my right big toe nail lifted off of the bed and eventually fell off. It grew back, but never looked right again. I never had a pedicure before this place and Star Nails has fully turned me off of ever doing it again. I would've complained earlier, but I was only visiting from UT for the holiday and paid them with cash, so I had no way of getting my reimbursement. However, every time I look at my toe nail, I regret ever making the decision to use them. read more

I have some arthritis in my feet and explained to woman doing the pedicure. Even so, throughout the manicure she would pull on a toe etc. and it hurt. She seemed 'put out' that I would mention it. She also seemed put out that I asked her to open a polish that was stuck and that I couldn't find a color that was vinyl. She had recommended vinyl polish. Travel in several states and not had this low level customer service in other salons, basically unfriendly. Nails look fine but manicure included no work on my heels. I come here when my regular nail salon is booked but if I wasn't a regular at my place I would be here! Great customer service. A young girl who sits near the phone has done my nails the few times I have been. She is very pretty and friendly. They have a huge selection of colors. Including a matte top coat that looks amazing on nails that not all salons have. My nails always come out great and they're quick and don't skip steps. I would recommend this salon to anyone. The décor isn't too fancy but the customer service makes up for it. They also have complimentary drinks and aren't too expensive. I believe a fill is $18 which is average. read more

I have been going to Star Nails for the past 3 months after a disastrous set of acrylic nails were done by anohter company in West Roxbury. I had a full set put on prior to a trip to NY City and in less than a week several of them had come off and they did not look natural at all. I decided to try Star Nails in Dedham Square, I have had pedicures and another full set of nails put on and they look beautful, never break or chip. Only giving this place a one star because there isn't a choice of giving zero. Got my nails done the day before I left for vacation, got a full set and my eyebrows done along with my mom getting a gel manicure. First the lady picked out the color my nails were going to be and didn't listen when I said I didn't like it and decided to put it on my nails anyway because "it was a new fall color and would look good" second she didn't ask the length I wanted and cut them way shorter than I like them, not to mention they were all uneven. She also cut my moms nails when before she even started getting her nails done, told the lady she wanted to keep them the length they are. Not even a week goes by and three of my nails are falling off and four of my nails have lost the polish completely. My moms nails are also ALL chipped...not to mention we got GEL COLOR so the wouldn't chip, but they ended up chipping anyways. Over $100 dollars later and two very unhappy customers who will not return to the salon or tell anyone to ever go here. The people barley spoke to us or made us feel welcome, definitely not a good way to run a business! read more
