I went into Staples in Duncan to FedexExpress my rent cheques up island and the two clerks in the "copy" section of the store refused to let me send them stating Fedex doesn't allow cheques to be shipped in their envelopes nor does Purolator. They said they could sell me an ExpressPost envelope but when I asked how to use one the clerk snidely replied he's not allowed to tell me because he isn't Canada Post! Why do they sell an item that they can't instruct the customer on how to use?!! After being disrespected and arguing with these two for sometime, for what seemed to be for no other reason than their sole personal amusement on a boring Sunday afternoon at work, I asked to speak to the store manager. The female clerk walked away but returned alone, no manager ever did appear. I was determined to complete the task that I came there to do so I remained and argued with them some more. Now, the two receiving no more enjoyment in this negative interaction that they were solely responsible for creating, wisely changed their minds and allowed me to send my cheques via FedexExpress but stated the store wouldn't guarantee delivery if Fedex refused to deliver them and returned the envelope to me. How the hell would Fedex be able to see what's inside my sealed envelope, they don't have X-Ray vision!
When I returned home I called Fedex and they said they routinely Fedex payroll and other types of cheques for businesses and customers on a daily basis and have no restrictions on shipping envelopes containing cheques, only cash! Fedex also directed me to two other drop-off/pick up locations in Duncan, Copy Cat and Seaside Computers for my future "Fedex needs".
I live alone, I'm battling 2 terminal illnesses and during a pandemic nonetheless. So much for this be kind, be calm, we're all in this together crap I keep hearing on TV and in stores when I have to run essential errands!! Staples, you needn't have bothered making my life a living hell today, the illnesses and pandemic are doing a good enough job on there own. I'd like to say that this is the only bad interaction I've had at this particular store but God might strike me with a bolt of lightning for such a bold face lie! The truth is, this Staples location routinely disappoints in every way.
What those two clerks didn't know, and most likely wouldn't have cared about, was that after I Fedexed my cheques I was planning at looking at laptops and computer accessories as at present I have neither (are you paying attention Duncan Staples Store Manager?). I know, I'm a dinosaur, but I'm trying to change. Instead I walked out pissed off, didn't look at laptops and will never have any further dealings at this store EVER AGAIN!
Stores, their owners/managers and staff in our town tell themselves that losing one customer won't close down their business, and they're right, until these stores continue on with their bad attitudes and services and all those unhappy customers start adding up.
Upon my return home today I searched my iPhone and found a website ca.trustpilot.com. This website currently contains 197 reviews by Canadian customers and their interactions with Staples stores all across Canada. 90% of those 197 reviews the customers gave the lowest rating the could give, and not for nit picky reasons! Look it up and see for yourselves, a lot of the reports are appalling!
I've never wrote a review on Yelp or any other site before now, but people, businesses do this to us because we allow it and say nothing. This is tad amount to a parent never reprimanding their small child for it's bad actions when young and then being bewildered when it's an abusive, selfish adult when it's fully grown! Posting a negative review, that's truthful, isn't being a malicious bully, it's simply warning others in your community before they encounter the same pitfalls with a local business. If you were walking outside in the dark with someone who knew the landscape and was aware of a deep hole in the ground, wouldn't you have appreciated at least a "heads up" before you were swallowed up by it?! I'm sure those 197 people who wrote bad reviews about Staples would have appreciated a "heads up" before their decision to deal with Staples, as should you!
Slander is just noise but the truth is the truth. My review is simply the truth and if Staples doesn't like the truth that's being printed about them, then only they have the ability to change that by losing the bad attitudes, smart mouths and bad service. No customer goes into their store looking for a problem or to be harassed, just to buy a product or complete an errand, walk out happy and go home a content customer (and that's the truth if you're listening Staples, you're not the only game in town)!
There, I'm done. Now God can just let one of my illnesses or the coronavirus determine how I meet my end. No lightning bolts from God for uttering a bold face lie needed! read more
