In the age of getting stuff delivered, it's amazing that Staples still goes. But here it is, buried way in the back of the Promenade on Providence shopping center. All the office supplies you could possibly need from paper to paper clips to desks to printer ink. I did not have a specific shopping list when I popped in, taking the time to browse and maybe something would remind me that I needed to restock. The "clearance" area at the back was very helpful and I did find that I needed a USB fan from there. Not a big purchase but hey, it's something. Went to upload n print two sets of documents but only one of two printers were working. A person was before me n she just stood in front of the only printer working. ‍ I found out when it was my turn that u had to put in your credit card info n they'll email your printing code. That was the day Verizon had issues in the cloud. ‍ Didn't get that email so I asked the printing rep n she helped me print them behind her counter on a laser printer which was probably more costly. I made an APPOINTMENT at 12:30, so I drove 30 minutes during my lunch break, and when I get there I'm told their software is down and they won't be able to service me. DON'T TAKE UPS PACKAGES TO STAPLES! We just had the absolute WORST experience with sending a package via UPS at the Staples #1223 10850 Providence Rd. We dropped it off (book-size) on Wed 12/24 knowing it would not be sent until Fri 12/26 because of the holiday. [We usually use The UPS Store at the Arboretum--Mike the manager is most accommodating--but they had closed for the day.] At the end of day Fri 12/26 there was no movement of the package on the UPS site ("label created" only) and none through Sat 12/27 afternoon. We called Staples and even spoke to the manager there who claimed that it was UPS' business, not theirs. He claimed UPS had not picked up there even though there are regularly scheduled pickup times on both Staples and the UPS websites. He was just plain rude about it. So we picked up our package and took it to The UPS Store who had a UPS pickup at 3:30 this afternoon. Staples knew full well who we were when we picked up the package--still nothing. Absolutely NO shred of caring. And, for those of you who shop there, beware! I recently found the best price for paper at Staples online, but went to the store and the price was $10 more!! We scheduled an appointment to register to TSA Precheck a service used at the airport to assist passengers with the check-in and security process. This was the closest location that was accepting appointments this month. We arrived to enrollment center to be told they were having computer issues. Thankfully, the issue was resolved in 30 minutes and we were ready to enroll. The process was quick and easy. The TSA Precheck is good for 5 years and is only $85. It's definitely worth it in large airports like Charlotte especially during the weekends and holidays. read more

I had no idea this location existed. I came here to look for a laptop. They were not busy at all and it was hard to get help. Finally, someone asked if we needed help and I said yes and they said they were going to get a tech staff to help me. Tech staff wasn't that helpful. Didn't really sell the laptop to me. Only read off the pamphlet which I could do myself. I decided to leave and checkout other locations. I came back a few days later to look at another laptop and the staff seemed friendlier. I went there to try out office chairs. I didn't see anything that indicated that any safety precautions were being followed. The merchandise was visibility dirty. After looking at a few chairs, not a single one of the associates who were clearly not busy and saw me there didn't offer any assistance. As soon as a family came in they went right over. Lady at self serve asked me what I need and I told her I needed something laminated. She said okay and walked away to the computer. I stood there for about twenty minutes. Eventually I asked her if this is something I can do myself and then she asked if I have my own laminator. Obviously I didn't come to staples instead of using my own laminator to get something laminated. She then told me it will be at least an hour. Christmas cards were supposed be ready within 24hrs. Then I received a card machines were down. Then I called that Sunday as stated they would be ready, put on hold for 20 mins and hung up on. Called back Monday and they were not scheduled for that Wednesday. I asked for a manager which they couldn't help so she said she would contact the head manager and they would get back to me. Ordered next day Christmas cards and received a call the next day saying that they would not be ready till 5 or 6 days later. I find out that they sent my cards out to be printed. So why was next day even an option? This is a management issue not a staff issue. The print department has to take on everything from printing to receiving Amazon returns however the store management never has this department fully staffed, especially during busy seasons like Christmas. So many times have I been in the store and there's only one person in the print department and they're handling a long line of customers on their own. One time the manager was just hanging out talking to another employee when they could have been helping. The print department staff is always so nice but they deserve better than how this Staples is treating them. read more

This location is super hidden when entering the complex on Providence as it's way in the BACK BACK BACK. I got an amazing Groupon for 50 Holiday cards with same day pick from here so after creating our holiday photo card with 6 photos on JT I got the email that it would be ready later that evening. While out and about I was notified that it was ready so we headed over and drove around and around the parking lot looking for this place. Once we found it and entered the staff was helpful. We quickly obtained our orders in the copy section which is labeled clearly. As we headed to the door we came across a table or Amazing gifts which had us stuck for about 30 minutes as we went through the items and verified some of the awesome pricing (GREAT Marketing Staples *SLAMS on EASY button*) and ended up with a couple items for the gift exchanges we had coming up. I'm one of those people who can totally get addicted to office supplies stores, this I avoid them so I don't go broke. But I've recently been given the opportunity to work for home (score!) and needed some accessories to make the dream happen. I love this store! It's organized logically, so I didn't have to spend an hour trying to figure out which aisle the gadgets I need are located (score again!). The store is clean, has multiple options on almost everything you could imagine , and while I didn't need help today, no less than 3 store associates checked in with me while I was browsing. Don't come here for color copies... they are pretty slow and fairly expensive. However, if you are just shopping for office supplies, they have a pretty good selection. Beware though, the layout of the store is not very inviting. Things are pretty spread out and it is not always easy to find what you are looking for. read more

Copy center and print center employees are not helpful nor friendly. Went to pick up my emailed in order and they couldn't even find it. I showed my confirmation and they found it, printed it, but never once apologized. There was an issue with the paper cutter (blade was dull) and it messed up one of my papers. I notified them, they were very inconvenienced. Never once apologized or seemed to remotely care. Will not return. read more

(I've done this in Huntersville location NUMEROUS times and have much larger orders-never an issue!) I checked my email and received confirmation. By three I stopped by to see if they were finished or close to being finished.....NOPE. Brandon was walking around scratching his head and appeared as if he didn't know where to look for the copies. Then he acted as if he just received the order. Like I said, I got confirmation about 5 minutes after I emailed the exams. **In all fairness he could've just got on his shift. Maybe someone else didn't relay their work properly. Whatever. He then tells me three more hours. I saw no printers going. No other customers waiting...sort of threw me off. I called at 5:30 to check on the order and someone else answers and informed me they had not yet started and it would be "another 3 hours". I hesitated to go to this Staples for printing b/c of the previous reviews but I'm glad I did! I went this morning at 11:00 and the young woman behind the printing counter was courteous and helpful. She had several customers waiting but I watched as she took her time with each one of them. When it was my turn she kept me informed of te time it would take to complete the job. I had to leave b/c of an appointment and returned 3 hours later. The printing looked perfect and although she was with another customer, she stopped briefly to check if I liked the printing. I would give this store 5 stars but the printing counter needs more sales people assisting customers. I will definitely return. Give them a try. read more

Went yesterday to buy a cover for an Ipad; I'd seen several on their website that looked good but wanted to see them in person. After wandering around (computer cases are not all in one place) a few minutes, I approached a worker behind the wraparound counter at the front of the store. Despite not appearing busy, the woman denied knowledge of such a product and, instead of helping me search, pointed to the Easy Tech counter and said, "Maybe you can ask them." Well, I could, and in fact had to, since she also seemed uninterested in a warm handoff. So I approached the techs, a middle-aged white guy and a younger black guy. The latter tech was disassembling a computer so I approached the older guy and posed my dilemma. Well, you would've thought I'd asked for a kidney given his distasteful grimace. After a few seconds, he grudgingly came out from behind the counter and pointed me first toward PC cases (not what I'd asked him about, and a computer tech should know the difference) and then toward a small, sparsely-stocked Ipad display that didn't have either type of case that I'd liked online. "That's it," the tech said flatly. The younger tech suggested an alternate place to search, but the older tech shrugged off his help. I followed up by asking very clearly if there were, in fact, any other displays that might contain items like I'd seen online, to which he replied, "Nope" (unpersausively, given his unhelpful, callous attitude). So I walked out, sans $50 case and sans any desire to return to this specific store. I bought a $1,000 desktop PC at this same store a year ago, and had been positively impressed with the several staff members I encountered. Not so anymore. Management has obviously changed, poor hiring decisions have been made, and morale has suffered. Management (at some level, if not store-level) needs to wake up and get these staff (re)trained in basic customer service. read more

The copy and print representatives are so rude and unhelpful. Went there today to make copies of a wedding program because due to unforeseen circumstances they were not printed sooner. Needed the programs same day. I explained what I wanted and asked about printing two per page front and back and getting them cut. Was told cutting the pages would be extra but since I wanted them to look nice I said that was fine. Then told they couldn't be ready before 5pm. I explained the wedding was at 5pm and asked if anyway to get them any sooner. Patrice abrasively informed me that I could pay an express fee to get them sooner but that they had other jobs in front of mine. I asked how much the fee would be and agreed to pay extra for them to be ready within the hour. Joe said he would call when they were ready. After an hour and half of not hearing from them I went back to the store. The programs were ready and clearly had been for a while. Joe rang me up at the counter and then told me my receipt would print and I could get it for myself and went back to messing around on his cellphone. Upon reviewing the finished product I noticed that some of the programs were cut wider than the others. Having had a terrible experience I didn't bother asking them to fix it because I am sure they wouldn't have been helpful. Terrible service. Don't get your printing done here! read more

I visited this store on Monday morning. There were maybe 10 customers besides me. I was not finding what I wanted (Magnets for the magnetic board I picked up) and proceeded to try a find someone, anyone to help me. (the boards are in the far back right corner of the store) After getting angrier by the minute, I walked up to the register and was rather loud and asked the young clerk if he was the only person working in the store. I said I needed some help and couldn't find anyone. One gentleman in line said there were 2 guys along the left wall. I headed that way and sure enough, two of them standing there flapping their jowls rather than checking around to see if anyone needed assistance. They didn't have the magnets for the board anyway. I never had an issue shopping at Staples on line but the store...well if or when it does close, those same people who were to busy talking will be unable to understand why they no longer have a JOB! read more

AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COST! I was looking for a draft chair and found it at Staples on Providence Rd. At least on line. I go to the store and they do not have one. Confirmed that the inventory says they have one, but don't. I ask about the floor model, but they will not sell. I asked to see if any other stores have one, they pull up the inventory and show 1 each at 2 stores, but don't call to verify. If their inventory is off, so could another store. They really didn't care. I go home and look again, still showing one in inventory so i called to see if the guy missed it. It took 7.5 minutes for anyone to answer the phone, they after 14 minutes they say they don't and don't know why the inventory is off. Then he offers to sell me the floor model at a discount. This store is more interested in selling paper towels and cleaning supplies than office supplies. But they can always order after you come in to find something - a total waste of time.
