They are deceptive about costs. Also, the eye exam is AI & remotely overseen ( I was told that part).The remote tech I had was rude, in a hurry/impatient (I'm a little slow because of my age) & his accent was very strong! (The young person in the office was very nice & polite.) Then I was told to see an ophthalmologist too (more cost). I can now go to an ophthalmologist & pay $18.50 & let my medical insurance pay for it. I picked up the glasses & I couldn't see out of them. I was told I could upgrade to better lenses ( I was never told I had any choices when I ordered). I think the prescription is wrong because of miscommunication with the online tech. I was told I could return the glasses, but I had to pay for the exam. "How much?" I asked. The girl said $79.00. I said OK. But I was charged $118.00. I did not know until I had left & started to look over my receipt versus the amount I was refunded. I was not given a true receipt for my refund, only written on the sales receipt without a signature or even initials. I WILL TELL ALL FAMILY & FRIENDS TO STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! It's in the window when you walk in, on the website when you schedule, and posted on every wall of glasses. It's a SCAM to get you in the door. They want $119. The manager is rude and a liar. She doesn't understand that "we don't accept your insurance" and "your insurance requires us to have a consult". She went as far as to say they were the only location in Texas And Oklahoma that DOESN'T take our insurance, which is a lie. Terrible service. Please go somewhere else. They don't accept my VSP insurance and it cost me almost $800 for a pair of progressive eyeglasses and sunglasses. I brought them my prescription. The eyeglasses came in incorrectly made. The left lens was way off. They would not check them that they were made properly, but they said I need to go back to the optometrist and have them confirm the prescription. Which I did and they measured that Stanton had made them incorrectly. So I went back to Stanton and they put the order in to have new glasses made. I got notified that they were ready for pickup. The sunglasses were ready (and correct) but the glasses did not arrive and they don't know where they are. Customer service is lacking. They have broken processes and a lack of leadership to resolve issues. read more

If I could give a lower star I would. Went in for just a contact prescription. I wanted my old brand of contacts but they suggested a different brand. I didn't like the new brand tried to go back to old brand they told me I would have to pay for another prescription. Even though it was them who suggested it. DO NOT go to Stanton Optical! It is a joke. My husband went in for an eye exam and it was a virtual exam..ridiculous! Then he picked out his glasses and waited for several minutes only to be called back to do another exam (which again was virtual)to, "get him as close to 20/20 as they could". The doctor then told him he needed to go have a physical/in person doctor exam. He was there for over 2 hours, charged for the exam, but still has no glasses. RIP OFF!!! OH man, not sure if all Stanton Opticals are like this but my experience at the local Sherman Stanton was rough. First they advised they would take my insurance if I would be able to look it up myself, otherwise I have to pay full price and get reimbursed myself. ok, then when I take the exam, the tech on the tv ran the test, asked no questions about how I use my contacts or glasses. Or my intentions, no questions about previous contacts etc. Just did the exam exited and some dr in another city signed off on the exam and sent the script to the store. After I leave without purchasing anything b/c scared to at this point, I realize my script was off and wasn't even written correctly from glasses to contacts. I had to go all the way back and instead of fixing it, they had to have me do a whole NEW EXAM. REALLY, I still don't trust it and am just going to wait until January to go to another eye dr. So disappointing. Stay away if you want good customer service or a real eye dr on hand. read more

Called to get more information on the promotion they have posted in their window. They told me and my boyfriend two different things, told him we had to pay for the eye exam and it wasn't included in the promotion (which said free eye exam and two pairs of glasses for 79.99) then someone told me it was included. I really liked the staff at the facility but whole process is sort of sucky. The eye exams are conducted remotely via a telemedicine app. They left off the prescription for my left eye on my eye glasses but put it on my contact lenses. They are remaking my glasses so I guess I will see if that works. My husband's glasses were another story. They got his eye glasses but never made his prescription safety glasses. We waited 4 weeks and kept being told that the safety glasses were in the lab being made. I never heard from them so we went in to check since we had to go to the Tractor Supply and were told that they had been dispensed. When I insisted that they had not been dispensed, what came out was that their corporate office had decided to mark everything that was more than 2 weeks old as being dispensed "to clear them out of the system". Never mind that people have paid for these and not gotten them. We got a refund on his safety glasses and we will not be back. I would recommend going almost anywhere else. read more

Came in the other day with my husband and we both were seen right away. Linda (our tech) was a dream and super friendly. She walked us thru every step and gave great energy the entire time. It got pretty hectic while we were there and she never once lost her cool or got flustered. We both did the 2 pair for $79 deal (he added $20 to tint one of his pairs), and each found pairs we liked! Super smooth experience and they didn't mind our two toddlers who got a bit impatient and bored while mommy and daddy were conducting business. Def recommend and def will be returning. read more

The special they have are super cheap glasses and not a very good selection at all, and the comment made to me by the person working for Stanton Optical was that most people get out of there by paying about $300 for 2pairs. I made an appointment, arrived early, and while sitting in the waiting room I received a text stating my appointment was canceled. They assured me my appointment was still on. I received my initial screening and then after another long wait I was called to the exam room to finish my exam. They could not find me in their system because they had deleted my information because of the cancellation. After another long wait they said they didn't have internet so the problem couldn't be fixed. The entire experience was negative. The office was chaos and unorganized. I heard many people complaining and some even left before being finished. I was there about 3 hours and didn't receive an exam much less much needed glasses. I will not return. read more

This place is a joke, and not a funny one either. First of all, the place wasn't clean. The tech did not wipe the equipment down before or after using it. Not only that, but the eye doctor visit via telehealth, the doctor spoke in broken English. They prescribed me single focus lenses when I told them I have been using bifocals, which should have been something the doctor discovered in the "exam." After they finally got my contacts prescription correct, they directed me to a dirty mirror and a QR code for "assistance." If I could give this place less than one star, I would. read more

It's a telehealth facility, the exam is done remotely from what feels like a third world country. I prefer my optometrist to be in the same room with me, not viewing me in 720p half a continent away. Went for a contact exam, was told when I called that for $99 included eye exam, 2 boxes of contacts and a trial pair ( 4 pairs of contacts in all). Let me begin that there is NO doctor at the location! You are Skyping with the opthamologist. Then after the shock of that was given my trial pair of contacts to put in, the lady gave me the same prescription for both eyes (I have astigmatism in one eye so obviously my prescription is not the same for both). Then asked for the 2 boxes that I was told came with and she laughed and said that it doesn't come with. So was blatantly lied too. Will never go back..Called to make an appointment asked the salesperson about the 2 pair for $59.95..I said I was on a fixed income and wanted to know if that was the real price cause I didn't want to come down there and they would add a lot of charges..he said that was the real price ..asked him twice got the same answer..I got there and it was about $30.00 more..I went ahead and paid it thinking the balance was paid then when I picked them up I had to pay $23.00 more! Bought glasses for first time at Sherman store paid 400 dollars for 1 pair of glasses plus my insurance bought all the extra coatings etc.. the coating starting peeling off after a year the store manager said it was from wiping with t shirt the other employee said it was getting to hit !!On my face? Age discrimination. After driving 50 miles to get there and waiting 30 minutes WITH an appointment, we were told my husband was too old to get an eye exam. Their policy is no one over 80. By far the best experience at an optical establishment ever!! I went to America's best before this and I have to say I really wish I came here first. Much more selection to choose from, quick and speedy service, and I feel like I really got taken very good care of here. Me and my girlfriend saw the sign driving by, and decided to stop by to see what the deal was. We both needed eye exams and everyone was so helpful and nice. I work part time jobs and go to school so I wasn't looking to spend a lot and they gave me 2 pairs of glasses and replaced the lens in my old glasses for way cheaper then I've seen anywhere else.
