Horrible service, we had made an appointment early in the week hoping it would help, not the case! Then after 1 hour and 35 minutes we were told we could not have our prescription unless we purchased contacts right then. We did not need contacts right at that moment. My daughter still has 2 boxes before we needed to order some. We had to wait an additional 20 minutes for a manager who just ended up handing it to us. Very frustrating experience! read more

Awful experience! They say the exam is free but they charge you 45$ in the beginning saying it's refundable if you need glasses. I had the test positive but I didn't get the exam's fee back and was told the glasses are 400$! I went back the next day saying I don't want the glasses anymore but I was told it's too late to cancel(lol like 1 day would make any difference) and that they can split my bill in half. They make up prices! and it's been 2 weeks already I don't have them yet. never ever walk there again. neither do I recommend them to anyone read more

I went to Stanton Optical on Saturday, and should have known better from the start. I called to make an appointment. Asked if they took my insurance VSP, the call center said yes. The day before the appointment they called to confirm and again, I asked if they took VSP-they said yes. I get there. Lie #1: The manager leads me right to the back, and says that the FREE eye exam is $45.00. Lie #2: They don't take VSP. So why do they say they do? To get you in the door. The 2 for $69 are ugly glasses, called the "Budget" glasses. And the manager was such a scammer, he tried all kinds of ways to make his math work to show that the exam was FREE. I'm sorry, sir, I'm not an illiterate, or a child. I know how to add, I know what your banners and your commercials say. I say, save your money, and stay away from this scammer and this obvious ploy to get you into their store. We don't have to take this kind of treatment. They should be ashamed. read more

I was very pleased with the services when I first went in, I ordered 2 sets of glasses and contacts. I spent $724.00 on my glasses, the exam, but not the actual contacts. I have not yet received my glasses, I am worried now that I am reading these comments. I was told that I could try out the contacts and if necessary return for more if I needed them. I was going to order the contacts, but I only had a 4 day supply of the trials left. Ordering the contacts would take 5 to 7 days. I asked if they could provide me with extra trial contacts to get me through till the new ones arrived. They were out. They were so indifferent about my needs. They don't care. "We don't have any, sorry". I am not sure this is they type of company that I want to continue to do business with. Very disappointed with their inability to meet my needs as a consumer. When this happens, a company will not survive. I don't think this company is going to survive. It is probably the last time I plan to use them. Lets see how the rest of this situation transpires. I will hopefully upgrade this review, but until I am treated like a valued customer... they get a negative 1 star. Yes, there is a minus sign in front of that star up there! You're gonna want to read this!! Where's the negative stars option?? Where do I begin... The last pair of contacts that I had gotten from my previous eye doctor had gotten bad and tore so I needed new ones ASAP. My usual doctor wasn't available until a month which was not good so I googled "eye exams" and Stanton was the first place that came up. I called, made an appointment for that day, and everything was fine. A week later I couldn't find my prescription so I went in today to pick up a copy of it. The first gentleman that helped me was very kind and printed it out for me but said he needed to get it signed by the doctor. The doctor was busy with an exam so he told me to wait a couple of minutes in the waiting area. 20 minutes goes by... 40 minutes... I finally got up and asked the assistant at the desk if my prescription was signed yet. She asked for my name and looked down at her papers and said, "No, not yet but she will soon." At that time my prescription was at the top of the pile of papers. I assumed it would get signed right away since it was at the top so I stood against the wall near the desk. 30 minutes goes by... That makes it a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes that I had already been waiting. I had noticed a man in a suit had been walking around helping out the employees here and there and then noticed he was behind the assistants desk. I got in line to ask about my prescription one more time and the man acknowledged me. I told him that I had been waiting for my prescription for over an hour and it still hasn't been signed yet. He then says to me "You've been waiting for over an hour? I've been walking around the area and haven't noticed you." Really? The man basically called me a liar. I replied back with a smile and said, "I've been standing right there and you've passed by me three times. I know how to tell time and it's been an hour and 30 minutes." The man gave me a shocked look and asked the assistant to find my prescription which she claimed she didn't have. The man walks away and asks her to print one out but then she looks at the bottom of the stack of papers and says, "oh, it's right here." She finally got up and asked the doctor to sign it. I never write reviews. I get upset and get over it but this experience made me WANT to write the truth about this place. Their staff never smiles, the bald gentleman in the tacky suit called me a liar, and they are completely unorganized. Don't go here! No stars. The first time I was there I waited over an hour & was never acknowledged. If it weren't for the fact that I liked the glasses so much I would have left. I specifically asked the clerk if the lenses were too small because I had progressive bifocals. He checked & said they would be fine. It turns out on my 6th visit there when I spoke to the manager, he told me that they were 1mm too small. I was getting horrific headaches & had to come back prior to this & got new frames. The day after I got the new frames the lens fell out of them. The following week, the nose piece fell off. I went to see them in June & I am still waiting for my third set of glasses because I still can't see out of them. They questioned my ophthalmologist doing the eye exam correctly & made me have another eye exam done with their optometrist. Every time I order a new pair I have to wait 2 weeks for them to come in. I pay for scratch resistant & my new sunglasses are already scratched. I am extremely careful with my glasses. In the past when I would go to other eyeglass places, I would never have a scratch on my lenses for a very long time. It has been less than a week & I already have a scratch. I don't even think they are scratch resistant! I reported them to the Attorney General. They can't keep having this many bad days. The manager & assistant manager are terrible!!! read more

I read the reviews prior to going and decided to give Stanton Optical a chance and was disappointed. One they give you a hard time when you ask for just your prescription and let them know you are not interested in purchasing your glasses there. If that's not enough they hold your prescription for 16 days to prevent you from purchasing glasses else where so you will pay more. They just lost four new customers due to this. I will not recommend this place to anyone. The Optometrist is great but we have a choice as to where we choose to purchase our glasses. read more

I went to Stanton Optical to get an eye examination and glasses. I received a eye examination over the internet. Waited about 2 hrs for that and another 20 for my glasses. They were the wrong prescription and even the person who was helping me stated so. I was told to come back the next day with an appointment to get a examination by a doctor in person to get the right prescription. I show up and check in and 1hr15min later I get asked to go to the main area away from the doctors. I stated that I needed a new exam and it was replied to with did you wear them? I tried explaining that I wear glasses and my 2yr old script was more powerful than the one they gave me and it was to weak. That the girl the day before confirmed this fact. That was met with hostility and then ignored. Was told that I was provided long vision script and I needed one for short vision. I tried to explain that with the current one I couldn't see long vision ither but again that was ignored. I received in the end two pair of reading glasses good for about 3ft, good for my phone. Something I could have got at many stores for $10. My 2yr old glasses let's me see better. Still need another exam, wasted $60... read more

Cheap Frames!! Poor workmanship on lenses, Blurry. Arrogant Management. Tried to get money back and they said no. Then after getting home and cleaning the lens the nose piece broke off. What? Cheap Crap!! Frame broke just gently cleaning. They won't give us our money back for sure now. At least at Lenscrafters and others they try to satisfy you. This place is nothing but Salesmen & cattle pushers. They really don't care what the customer wants. Please save your money and go to Costco or Sam's anywhere but there. Waited at new Sunland Park location in El Paso, Tx for over hour only to be told machines were down and to reschedule. Had previously gotten contacts for my son at east side location and he ended up throwing lenses away because they were painful to wear. I couldn't understand it, but II ordered Accuvue thru 1-800contacts. (He has worn contacts for years) I asked for Accuvue brand this time and guy at counter actually tells me "To be honest, the advertised contact lens exam special comes with really uncomfortable contacts, we've had a lot of complaints" (That explains the hell my son went through last year.) So I opted for just exam with their "trial" pair of off brand contacts. They then inform me they do not have any trial pairs in house at the time. I was actually happy I had another reason to leave. I scheduled service with another provider. This is a low-end discount company with service and products to match. I don't trust them at all. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have had in El Paso. I gave them a prescription from an outside optometrist and they said fine we can do it charged an arm and leg for frames and contacts. The next day when I picked up the frames the glasses were blurry and I could not see. They understood and said come back in an hour we will try to have them ready. I came back and again they were horrible couldn't see at all. I complained and they had the audacity to force me to see the optometrist there which they wanted to charge 45 dollars plus any of the fees that came with this appointment. As it is it was their mistake they made me sit there for hours in an unorganized store, incompetent employees, with crappy and flimsy lens. Needless to say I had to take my business elsewhere, when they would not refund my money and tried cheating me out of a deal. This store was unethical and has horrible business practices. Stanton optical corporate should be ashamed of this location and push a formal investigation. There are numerous complaints about this business and I will be pursuing some legal action against this store and its rude, incompetent employees. If you have a chance to go somewhere else please do the 69 dollar two glasses is an outright lie and It will not help you at all. I went in to Stanton Optical on a Weds after hearing about an amazing deal on glass. I walked in and was not even greeted. I walked up to whom I later found out was an assistant manager and asked him about the specials. He was very unprofessional not wearing a tie and appeared very sloppy. He directed me to a lady with glass who was very young and had an exotic name. I can not remember her name. She gave me some prices on a sticky note and I left. The reason I did not buy from them is because while I was there I witnessed the assistant manager yelling at an employee and it made me very uncomfortable. The lady was nice but she seemed like she didn't even want to sell. It felt very uncomfortable to be in there and some what unprofessional getting prices on a sticky note.. I had many questions because I've been burned by other opticals before, and to see how knowledgable they were put me at ease. The UV coating on the glasses leaves a glare that is very distracting. The selection of mens frames is very limited. I had my daughters contact exam done at the fountain location in el paso and went back for a copy of the prescription and they said the exam was never done at their location and refused to release the prescription. That exam was performed at their store, they obviously don't like it if you choose to order your own contacts. My family will never set foot in that store again. read more

Terrible-The eye exam was fabulous-but as many others have stated buy one get one free-hahaha!- my price started at 400 and down to 238....then I was told my eyeglasses (2) would be done on Sunday and I stated I would pick them up on Monday. I drive over 100 mi one way get there at 430pm to find that my glasses were not done! Then promised they would be sent fed-ex the next morning and they did not go out UPS until Wed morning. What??? cmon now. They then put the wrong shipping address. Im offered a coupon for free frames, but the Manager I dealt with (Chris) did not sign his authorization on the authorization line nor write in the exp date. Therefore this coupon does me no justice! To top it off my 2nd pair of glasses is not good at all. All I see is BLURS! I Thought I may need to get used to them, so I have wore them a few days, and still BLURS AND DIZZINESS! I am 100 mi away one way, and scared to go take them back, not to get them fixed or returned. I will stick from now on to Eyemart Vision in EP there are no hidden costs, the store is clean, the staff is great and they never question your complaints or needs. If the there is a problem they fix it right away! Stanton Optical on Gateway was filthy, the mgr lacked problem resolution and bs me as the customer. This place definitely lies about their prices just to get you into their doors. First of all I called and spoke with a person who lied through their teeth. They told me that they had the special with 2 pairs of glasses at 59.99 with free exam and it included frames, and lenses. When I told them I would be needing Bifocals I was told even those were included. What a scam! They pretty much told me to find frames when I walked in which I did and then when the time came to talk about prices it started off with like 259.00 (129.50 each) and 49.00 for a decent pair of frames and the other was free. I was still in disbelief "What the heck happened to the 59.99 oh right he says we should get rid of that because it is really not a good deal and we steer people away from that blah blah blah. Stop it right now! It is the Bait and Switch and they should be ashamed. Now I believe the other stores when they told me that they get a lot of clients from Stanton especially the elders because they are on a fixed income and then when they get told it is $308.00 they are too embarrassed to say anything and cannot leave the store. My daughter also got glasses from here BUT this is the Last time we will buy glasses from here. I am so upset with this but it is my lesson learned. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! Horrible place to go get glasses or contacts!!! First I tried it out getting two pairs of glasses it was going ok until after I paid they said my glasses would be ready in a few minutes!!! So I waited after receiving them I noticed there were some bubbles on my lense I let them know and they "fixed it" as soon as I walk out I try them on and the bubble was still there they said it was because of a special coat on them so they fixed them they were finally fine!! I had also bought a second pair that day but had to pick up the next day because they did not have the lens I needed!! So I go in the next day with my boyfriend and it was a huge different experience!! As soon as I walk in i get a "hi welcome how can I help you today?" They help us get us to where we have to be and we sat down for a bit! Then I start thinking how I did not receive any of that politeness yesterday! I start looking around and I noticed how many Caucasian and African American people were being treated with big smiles on their face even the optometrist came out laughed a bit with them but there were some hispanics who had just entered and nobody even said hi to them!! And then I realized there is a bit of racism at that location you see my boyfriend is full on light skin, blue eyes!! That is why I was treated differently!! The first day I was in there for 5 hours!!! And the second it didn't even take 30 min!!! I mean really!!? My sister said I was exaggerating so she went with my brother to get contacts and glasses and don't even get me started!! They lied to her so many times and I know this because the employees kept contradicting each other with many things!! There was a guy who told her that the temporary contacts my brother needed were somehow rare that they did not have in stock that they would have to be ordered!! But when the manager came over he said "that was weird that they were the most common!! Are you serious!! They had also told her that my brothers glasses would be ready in about 20 min but after she was done paying they told her to go pick up the glasses the next day!! What gets me even more mad is that their visit just reinforces my racism theory; my sister told me there was only another 4 Caucasian families in there with her and that they left faster than she did with their glasses and two of them arrived after she did!! RANT for the day! Ok so two weeks ago I finally decided and was healthy enough to go get Eye Glasses. I researched and went with the new store Stanton Optical. BIG mistake!!! Appointment was a 2:15 walked into store and noone was at front desk. No signs telling you directing you what to do all of emploees were busy and noone looked up to ask. I finally grabbed someone who was walking by and asked where to go. Got in the exam room 1 1/2 later and was told we don't take your insurance. I made sure that they did when i made appt. Manager stepped up when he noticed I was walking out...He took care me and said it was a mix up. Okay 4 hours later i was leaving the store for eye exam and glasses. Been calling for 2 days noone picks up the darn phone. Oh lines are out of order. People I can't see! Never going back thereagain unless I need to fix my eye wear which my insurance covers!!! We left super happy and I would definitely recommend this place. I called and explained that I'm covered under my insurance & under my husband's insurance. They told me they accepted both, I made an appointment asked for the afternoon off from work. When I arrived I was told my secondary insurance was not contracted with S.O. & that if I called the number mentioned on line that they accidentally gave me the wrong information & that's it's a telemarketing company that sets appointments. I gave the representative my insurance name and she assured me that both were accepted. Since its hard for me to take time off I ended up having to pay the copayment of 40.00 after using my insurance. The information given to me was misleading and I felt like I had no option but to keep my appointment since my secondary insurance Tricare was not accepted. I'm disappointed with this company and will not be purchasing my eye glasses here. I liked the doctor and the service she provided. However, this company is not trustworthy and yet they seemed surprised when I said I would NOT be purchasing my eye glasses there. Brought my son for an eye exam earlier today. His glasses broke recently and they were giving him headaches, so I made an appointment as soon. As possible. We called the call-center ahead of time and they told us about their current free eye exam promotion. We went in and not only was the promotion completely different from what we were told on the phone, the manager told us that the call center often gives wrong information and/or information that doesn't apply to this store (and I assume others). If that's the case, why even have a call center if they're going to give false information like this? It's unprofessional and it's infuriating, and me and my son are far from the last customers to run into this exact problem. The manager was like a broken record and simply repeated the same two sentences regarding the promotion and the rest of the staff was wholly unhelpful. I feel bad for the woman who actually performed the eye exam, she had no idea they ran their business like this and she actually knew what she was doing. What a waste of skills! Oh, and the selection they had for the promotion was what you'd find at a Dollar Store for $6, but apparently eyeglasses and lenses can run $250+ and take two whole weeks to get. The whole experience was simply horrific. My advice to any other prospective customers? Go somewhere else. If you're going here because of the offer where you get two boxes of lenses in that exam bundle, do not make it! They do not offer it!! False advertising!! And you'll be wasting your time just as I did. Very disappointed in my experience here. I have tricare so it does not cover an exam for contact lenses. I called here and they told me about their package that they are doing that is usually $129 for $99 and it includes 2 boxes of lenses. So I made the appointment thinking I would be saving because that's about how much I would pay for lenses on their own but I get an exam in as well. Came in on a Sunday and apparently that location does not offer the boxes of lenses?? That's the only reason I made the appointment here! I called the number I used to make the appointment and they said supposedly the system said that the location says it does it carry the lenses for that promotion. But the receptionist made it very clear they do not, not that they are out of stock but they do not do that offer and they don't even have any boxes of contact lenses just the trial pairs. Ridiculous! And I can't submit a complaint via their customer service department because they're closed. read more

VERY, VERY UPSET with this optical. My daughter and I went in to get an eye exam, and I paid for the eye exam. I did not like the price/quotes they were giving us both for our eye wear. I asked to give me the eye prescription, so we could go somewhere else; in which, I think I would get a lower and better price. The customer service rep. would not release our eye prescription and was very, very persistent of purchasing their eye glasses. I kept on refusing to, but she still would not give us our eye exam. I felt that I had to purchase their glasses forcefully. I knew that there were other places that would offer a better deal. The customer rep. suggested that she will save me a trip for going to that specific place, if she would call them herself. As she called, she did not ask for any of there promotions or sales for children's and adults. Instead she only asked for price range in hi-index lenses (even though I did not want high-index lenses). The rep. suggested to purchase my frames with them since the other place were too expensive compared to there price range. I argued with the rep. that I don't care for hi -index lenses, and argued with the rep. never asked for the price range for poly-carbonated and other promotions. it was very frustrating, annoying, and disappointing that they could not respect your decision, NOT only your decision BUT WRONG when they refuse to release your eye exam. I cannot explain in detail the ORDEAL/SITUATION that I went through with them, especially with their manager there is more detail to this story. It is sad how merchants want to steal you blind and its a pity when a person/rep. try to make you feel stupid and uneducated. I give this place a very NEGATIVE review!! Ok, so this information might not be pertinent but here it goes... I am a military wife with 4 kids... I went to this location because 2 of my kids need eye glasses as do I. Well when we got there it was kind of full but nothing to bad. My kids and i are walking around and looking at the frames ( in which there isn't a very big selection)... It took someone over 20 minutes to acknowledge us and that young lady was helping someone else at that moment. Well when i finally got someone to help us out and give us information - he was very rude!!! Guess what... it was the manager himself. As my youngest began to cry he was making horrible expressions and asked me to return or to atleast try and control my kids. I became LIVID!!!! well when i began to ask questions and he was just being rude then he tells me that if i am going to be rude --- he IS NOT GOING TO HELP ME!! i asked him for his name and asked to speak to his supervisor... he just said my name is JOSEPH and I AM THE MANAGER. well mind you... i walked out. you would think that he being the manager he would have good customer service or go out of his way to help me with the information i was seeking for myself as well as my 2 boys that need to wear glasses. by the way... their AD or PROMOTION is VERY MISLEADING!!!!! the worst and most horrible customer service!!!!! I am extremely disappointed with Stanton Optical because they deceive the customers, the eye exam is supposed to be free of charge and I was still charged for it. That means that they're promoting FALSE ADVERTISING!! The total for frames and everything came out to $365.00, that is outrageous!! I went there exactly two years ago and got the exact same thing and I paid only $140.00!! Plus, to top it off, they gave me two lame and flimsy rag bags to store my glasses, instead of the sturdy plastic glass cases. COME'N!! They're SCAMMING people left and right. I will NEVER go to Stanton Optical again and I will also tell friends, family, acquaintances, and co-workers NOT to ever go there. DO NOT waste your money in this place. I would give NO stars if that were an option. They sell you all kinds of no scratch, no glare garbage that racks up the price of your glasses and a "guarantee" - at a cost of course- and then when the lenses start to shed the junk they put on it, they give you some lousy excuse that your guarantee was only good for 30 days and charge you to fix them, only to have it all shed off again. They try to tell you that you used the wrong product to clean your glasses when the only thing I used was the very expensive spray they sell you to clean your glasses. They are a bunch of sham artists. Don't be fooled by the "buy one, get one free" come-on because you pay out the nose for that first pair, so in fact you are paying for the second pair as well (and then some). The manager is very nice while he is selling you their line of bunk, but when you come back with a defective product, he gets snotty and condescending. This place is full of BS. I bought a pair of glasses got that whole buy one get the other free which I paid and chose "a more durable and expensive, so called design brand" to make it worth it. All was well until about a week later when one of my pair's lens falls while I'm working on my computer, so I use my backup pair that I got for free while they so called fix the first. Turns out that the frame was not tighten enough when first made, so that took them about 3 days to address and despite having my phone number don't call me to tell me they are ready for pickup until I called to ask. Since I had just begun to get comfortable with my backups I decided to keep wearing them for about 2 days cause those brake in half at first drop from about 3ft night stand or on welded as they said, "wow" take those to get fixed and they say it will take 3weeks due to none in stock, oh and it costs me $64 to cover warranty, wow BS. Hey you get what you pay for right, wrong cause that's the reason why I paid more than the so called promotion to avoid having cheap ass glasses and still got poor quality BS!!! read more

I took my mother to Eyemart Express two years ago, and she ended up paying $500 for two pairs of glasses with which she has never been satisfied. So we decided to try Stanton Optical. I'm thinking all optical places are allowed to advertise insanely low prices for TWO pairs of glass, PLUS free exam, but again, her two pair came to $501. Transition lenses cost a bit more, apparently. Anyway, we were shown how dark the lenses would become outdoors, and that was fine. We were not called when the glasses were ready; I finally called and was told they were ready. The young lady helping us was really having a problem getting the earpieces to fit on one pair. She tried several times and finally said that was the best she could do. We came home with the glasses. They barely changed colors; my mother STILL needs sunglasses outdoors. The earpieces appeared to be about two inches too long and one stuck out from my mother's head quite a bit. The other pair sat up too high on the bridge of her nose. We went back with these complaints. The earpieces now wrap around her head a bit more snugly, but look silly and are not comfortable for her. And we were told transition lenses are "temperamental" and don't always gets as dark as one would like. If we had known that at the beginning, my mother wouldn't have paid that extra money for them. The other pair is not comfortable for her, either. So far, she doesn't wear either pair - another $500 down the drain for her. read more
