This was my first visit to Stanton Optical in Mishawaka, Indiana and it couldn't have been a more disappointing experience. While most of the staff were professional and pleasant, Dr. Anthony Gish was the complete opposite. He came across as short-tempered, unprofessional, a man-child who is unable to regulate his emotions. He expressed irritation about a staff member to me, which was completely inappropriate. When I asked a simple question to clarify my prescription, he responded in a dismissive and irritated tone, as if my question was challenging his expertise. At one point, while I was being helped by Kristen with ordering my frames, he interrupted and demanded to speak with her immediately, pulling her away mid-conversation. There was no regard for the fact that she was actively assisting a patient. His behavior created an uncomfortable and tense environment throughout my visit. Quite frankly, his lack of professionalism and inability to maintain his composure makes him ill-suited for a role that requires direct interaction with patients. read more

Horrible. I have tried multiple times to make an appointment. Every time I do I get a call saying I have to change it. The first time they double booked... sounds like your problem, not mine. They wanted me to bump my appointment an hour later... Except I cannot come in an hour later because my I had to pick my child up out of state an hour later. That gives me time for a 5 minute appointment. The second time I'm told I have to reschedule because the doctor isn't there past 5:30. Again, not my problem. You offer the appointments. It's honestly ridiculous and I guess I will just go elsewhere and make sure I refer everyone else to other doctors as well. This place is a joke. Absolutely no urgency here. The doctor is so unsure of himself in almost every movement he makes. It's actually sickening. It's dirt cheap so people will always come. Great business model i must admit. Waste of time. Why would i plan to stay at the eye doctors office all day long?! Stanton Optical in Mishawaka is not run properly or fairly. Customer service is very poor. Kayla is not only a liar but very difficult to deal with and needs to review her customer service basics. Heather also lied and covered up her lie at the cost of a dedicated and consistent customer. Pathetic how this branch is ran. Claims will be filed, as well as word of mouth in Michiana. I took a pair of glasses they were purchased from Stanton and asked for them to be repaired. I was told that a screw had broke off and that it wasn't possible to get it out. Then was told I'd have to buy new frames. I was told it was from over tightening the screw. At which I let them know that we had never touched the screw, let alone tighten it. I never actually saw them attempt to remove the screw. After I took the glasses home, my husband very easily, removed the screw. I took them to Walmart in Niles MI and a very nice young women was more than happy to repair them after I explained wgat took place at StNton. It took her about 5 minutes and it was free of charge. I went for the appointment both for an Rx and a concern. There was no doctor on site, nor was a doctor even available for remote interaction. Initial screenings (e.g., glaucoma air puff) were done by an in-person technician, and the exam itself was done on a screen with a virtual technician reading a script. The technician claimed that a doctor would review the results of the screening and tests and then would create a Rx and make recommendations based on this review, but I do not believe any doctor reviewed anything. At no point was there an opportunity to interact with the "doctor" and I could not address my concern. I also did not trust the prescription created by this appointment, developed as they were by an unfriendly remote technician reading a script. She never showed me my optimal Rx, nor describe my current vs. the new Rx. If I indicated that a particular view was quite unclear, the remote technician read a scripted response in an impatient patronizing tone. The exam is a scam. I advise against trusting this establishment for an exam, will likely report them to the licensing authority, and wish I had refused to pay. In fact, I may still call back and ask for a refund. read more

We went in and a lady offered to help us. She took all info and gave us pricing and everything. She said sit tight and then never came back! We waited over 45 minutes and then some other lady came over. She wanted all our info again! When I said we gave everything to the other lady she got snotty and said well I am the only sales person here and we are doing best we can. At that point we had been there about 90 minutes. 3 years ago I would 100% have said Stanton was top quality and one of the best Eyewear places to go. I even had an amazing review I submitted at that time then! However, now, I have photo evidence that the place is run down. Carpet squares tornup, drywall and paint done lazily, wood flooring scraped and scratched, signage crooked, missing baseboard/trim, the displays are falling apart, and the chairs are falling apart as well. The shape of how the building leaves customers wondering if the business actually cares about the customer experience. Overall if you are looking for a quality eyewear place, due to how they treat their infrastructure I would not recommend them to anyone I personally know. Then as he's trying to sell me frames says that he can't address any of the issues I came in for. My daughter and I went to Stanton in need of glasses for her the same day. However, it was Saturday and the lab was closed. She was leaving on a trip the next day and we were desperate. Thanks to the best customer service ladies ever, they took the time that day to fill her prescription with not only a pair of glasses but sunglasses as well! I have a health condition which makes eye appointments difficult due to uncontrollable head movements. However they accommodated me and made it possible to get what I needed done. They are knowledgeable in their field AND caring of patients which you don't come by often these days. After the initial eye exam, Heather helped me with the glasses I chose. She was really sweet and definitely a people person. Plus, I got a great deal on glasses and eye exam! I recommend others to go here if they're looking for inexpensive but exquisite eye care. :) read more

EVEN THOUGH THE ENTIRE CASE IS LIT UP WITH A HUGE $20 BILL AND THE GIANT TEXT READS "2 FOR $20 !!!" This is SO misleading, disingenuous and really a classic "bait and switch" scheme!!! Recent lies to me about their pricing and when you actually place an order, you find out that they do not honor prices that they said they would in Written form. Then they collect your payment and call you next day to tell you they FORGOT to process something , so you need to come back in so they can fix their mistakes. They do not regularly answer the phones and their Managers do not return your calls. Just try to cancel an order that they have messed up for you!! They have my money now, will not hive me a refund, and admit that they will not process the order that they screwed up. People better be aware of this operation as they are out to get as much money from you, even though they do not process your order correctly. And refunds are very very hard to get from a company like Stanton Optical when they will not talk to you or return any calls. Wow, after I told the truth about this poor company, they replied on line that I could call and they would improve my experience. So I called their directed number 877-518-5788. Again, I got a computerized customer service line. Once I got a human, he could NOT HELP. So he got me to the store. Wow, they answered at Mishawaka IN store.I spoke to Tammy on 5/25/22 who was very nice and understanding of situation. But she had to wait till I could talk to the store manager, Heather, who was not available. I am waiting at 3pm for her call back. Maybe we should have a ZERO STARS rating for some companies too? I am waiting for my improved experience. No call back from the store manager so far today. Still waiting.... She got the message on their overcharge to me and their failure to even process my order properly. They have my money and there is not even a complete order done as the salesperson failed to "trace my frames" - which was the main purpose for my having to come into the store!!!! Also note that the Stanton Optical's reply to complaints is "computer programmed" to say they will make things better. Once you call, they seem unable or unwilling to talk to you as the customer. I bet they give their fake text reply as I am updating this review of terrible service and customer communication. After all, Stanton Optical has my money already. No call all day from store manager. Supposedly she is the ONLY ONE who can help me get my money refunded. I guess I call again tomorrow to beg for any assistance and cooperation. Would rate this a ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK 0/10 if I could. I've been wearing glasses for 20 years. (I'm 25 now) and I came to Stanton because I've had good experiences in the past... In the past are the keywords here. The "pre exam" was totally botched for both myself AND my significant other. (We went together) The air puffing machine didn't work for me (the lady doing the test kept insinuating I was the problem and moving too much while being confused through the whole exam) and I later found out the machine that takes pictures of your retinas didn't function for my s.o! (Which apparently was dismissed in the end and never even got done!) Feeling uneasy and slightly confused we continued on to the "actual exam" I say "actual" cause these clowns REALLY USED ZOOM CALLS. They seriously leave you in a room with a person on a zoom call. There is no actual eye care physician available! On top of that the eye exam machine's lenses were dirty; the rep didn't even check them at all! Fast-forward to after the "professional exam experience": Because we're total doormats and just wanting to end this sketchy unpleasant situation we still yet continued on: picked out frames and got ready to check out. Right before they took my payment information they decided to mention that my s.o's insurance didn't apply. WHY THE HELL DID THEY NOT STATE THAT FIRST BEFORE THE EXAM? THEY NEEDED IT TO TAKE THE EXAM IN THE FIRST PLACE! I ordered a pair of glasses (since I'm one step away from being legally blind) and literally cannot go without them and function as a normal sighted human. I am scheduling new appointments at a LEGITIMATE eyeglasses store and checking the prescriptions. For Stanton's sake I hope they didn't fuck it up. Fun little ending addition: The receipt cheekily states in pt. 5 text at the very bottom of the printed receipt so no hard sighted person can possibly read "eye exams are non refundable" and then states: "refund policy unback" which... Apart from their spelling and grammatical 2-in-1 error Guess what's completely blank. If you guessed "the area where the refund policy should be printed" you are a winner. Ofc the employees also decided to not point out their refund policy or bring one up at all IF they even know they have one. NEVER GOING TO STANTON AGAIN. I've never had such a disappointing, worrying, and downright terrible experience in the 20 yrs I've gone through glasses, doctors, and providers. when I went to go pick up my new glasses, I told them I could not see distance with them.. He told me it was because I didn't pay for the more expensive Progressive and that was the way it was going to be.. unless I wanted to pay $400 more to give me a wider progressive line area. I stated that I literally could not see with them.. I asked whether or not I could get a refund.. he said no you only have 24 hours from the time you order them.. what?? I didn't get my glasses for 2 weeks.. how am I going to know in 24 hours whether or not I am satisfied. He said basically that this is just the way their policy was. So I asked him for a copy of the policy he said he didn't have one, that they had nothing in store to give me.. so I said where can I get a copy of this policy.. he looked at me and said google it!! So I went to my car and called corporate office and also found their policy which states their product has a 30 day guaranteed!! unbelievable too add this buy one get one free is a bunch of lies.. they want $400+ for my one and sec one free.. Good customer service in the office was the only reason for the two stars. They rescheduled my appointment online THREE TIMES in the same day and then cancelled the lady before me as she was sitting in the waiting room. Then their computers went down and they had to do everything by hand. After spending half an hour waiting around and filling out forms, it wasn't worth my time. I've been in and out of the eye doctor in 30 minutes at Eye Care Associates. Why does Stanton take all goddamn day? Great customer service and fabulous trendy eyewear selection, my prescription is spot on and they even put a new screw in my current eyeglasses. I have been to other Stanton optical locations across the country with the same fabulous service and expertise. Very clean and well sanitized. There were 2 emails sent at the exact same time 10:09 am from Stanton Optical. Both emails changing my appointment time. One said 1:50 the other 2:10. Because both emails were sent at the exact same time,I had to call to figure out which time was the most recent change. I was told 1:50. I asked if they would change it again- the man said I don't think so if they do they might call. I canceled the appointment. I have a job that I have to give notice to. Very poor first impression. I was in the store for a good 20 minutes today and was not greeted by one person. I perused the glass selection on my own and was thoroughly disgusted by how dirty everything was. Every single pair of glasses I picked up to try on was smudged and covered in fingerprints. The racks that hold the glasses were obviously never cleaned and caked with dirt in some places.
