Horrible service- waiting to get a drink or food for 30 minutes. No one coming to the table.

Hits the Korean street food craving! So happy we found this place during our travels in Banff…read more We went during a raining weeknight and it was fairly crowded. At first the restaurant felt small but when you go in further you do notice they have sufficient seating. The restaurant is divided into two sections. When you first walk in you order your main meal at the counter straight ahead from the entrance. To order specialty drinks and deserts you go to the other section of the restaurant to your right. We ordered the bulgogi chicken bowl, the fried chicken bowl, vegetarian chicken bowls and a couple of mozzarella corn dogs. They were all very good. You can pick the level of spiciness and they have extra sauces near the counter that you can add to your bowl. We also ordered one of the bingsu (strawberry flavored shaved ice with ice cream, and fresh strawberries). It was really tasty. We also had the muscat grape drink. It does come carbonated and a little sweeter than anticipated. Overall we were happy with our meal. Happy enough that we are planning on going again before having to leave the area.

Everything is served in a paper cup, and you can decide if you want to dine-in at one of their small tables or take it to-go. Bowl #1 Korean BBQ bowl was the best, with marinated beef, egg strips, salad, and white rice. The menu said it was pork, but it tasted like beef to us. Bowl #6 Korean fried chicken and dumplings bowl was not bad, but the fried chicken wasn't Korean fried chicken. Korean fried chicken usually has a crispy coating and sometimes with a sweet and spicy glaze. Their "Korean fried" chicken had neither (1/2 star off). I still enjoyed the bowl, but it was more like a regular chicken and dumplings bowl. You can request to top your own sauce. They have bottles of garlic mayo, sweet chili sauce, ketchup, etc. in front for you to add as much as you want. This also means that the tables can be left with smears of random sauces. The staff does not clean tables (1/2 star off), so I had to do a thorough wipe-down of a sticky table before sitting down. After your meal, you can also try their bingsoo (Korean shaved ice). Those are probably sticky too...

The…read morerestaurant is kind of tucked away in a mall, but there are signs advertising it on the main street. It was a particularly cold and windy day so some Korean soup sounded amazing. We came around 3PM so it wasn't too busy. The place looks a little dated and seems like it used to be a different type of restaurant but that doesn't really matter to me. The food is good which is the most important part. Then banchan came first and there weren't as many dishes as I'm usually used to. My favorite banchan is definitely fishcakes and they were missed here. The kimchi was good though and so was everything else. I ordered the Sokkoritang or Oxtail Soup. The broth was super flavorful and milky while the oxtail was super tender. This was so comforting after being in the cold for a few hours. I could sip on the broth all day. It wasn't overly salty, in fact it was under salted but they provide salt for you to salt the dish to your liking. My girlfriend got the Galbitang or Short Rib Soup and she seemed to really enjoy it. The short ribs were cooked well and came off the bones easily. The broth was nice and beefy. Service was good. I can definitely recommend Seoul Country.

Gamja Tang - Really nice and comforting. Its exceptionally delish. Meat is super fall off the bone tender. 9/10   Japchae - Noodles are a bit overdone, but the flavors to forgive the soggy noodles. 7.8/10   Hameul Pajoon - Pancake is pretty, a bit skimpish on the ingredients. Other than that its a pretty good pancake. 7.3/10   Assorted Banchan - Kimchi was pretty good, the spinach was ok, the bean spouts are tasty and the reddish was superb. 8/10   Bibimbap - Pretty Good,, a bit more flavor is needed but the Gochujang does take it home. 7.5/1]   Bulgogi - its a bit on the mid side. Some flavor needed, but over all not bad. 7/10   Galbi -  Actually nicely seasoned and marinated. It stands by itself. I adore a good galbi. 8.8/10 The setting is pretty nice. Service was on point and I would highly recommend for a proper sit down meal after a long day of looking around. If youre in the Canmore/Banff area, do give this spot a proper go at it and let me know what you think. Hit that follow for more food and travel adventures by yours truly. My running group that I was traveling with brought our party to the Elk & Oarsman for a quick dinner. This place is a lodge-style sports bar that is located in the heart of the Town of Banff. There are TV screens all around that show live sports and a large fireplace. You can see the beautiful mountain scenery from the rooftop patio. It was nice of Elk & Oarsman to accommodate our large party. The service was great here. Elk & Oarsman is a sports bar that serves good food. The menu has a variety of pub fare favorites like bar snacks, sharables, salads, flatbreads, elk dishes and burgers. I was starving and ordered the Buck Hunter because I wanted to try something with elk in it. This elk & bacon burger patty comes loaded with condiments on a brioche bun. I really liked the tasted of the smoked mayo on my burger. I also got a Broccoli Cheddar Soup on the side. Banded Peak Brewing is a popular beer made in Alberta that is named after a mountain in the Canadian Rockies. I grabbed their Amber Lager to pair with my dinner. There is a fun lively atmosphere here at Elk & Oarsman. I was only here for brief time, but enjoyed it. This is a solid place to check out if you like sports and good food.
