They were having trouble getting the water to work in one of the sinks so they tried hooking it up to all of the sinks and scratched up both of my faucets, then they attached it to my washer to get water and did not connect it back securely so it leaked all over my floor and I had to pull the carpet up in there. I called Stanley Steemer for the first time to clean 2 area rugs, a stairway and a large porcelain tile floor. They came to my house September 30, 2025. The woman cleaned the porcelain floor while the man cleaned the porch rug and stairway. He decided that the other rug, 8x5, would be cleaned off site by their rug division for $140.00. The total bill was $445.00. After they left, I discovered dirt in several corners of the porcelain tile room. The sofa and two chairs were going to be moved so they could clean under them. They evidently were not moved enough and under the couch I found a small soda can and dirt, under the two chairs there were dustballs. So I wrote to the company about this and never received a response. I also mentioned that I thought he had done a good job on the porch rug and stairway. I thought this was very unprofessional not to acknowledge receiving the letter. I called Stanley Steemer 6 times just to find out when they thought the rug that was taken out to be cleaned would be ready. On 10/10 I spoke with Tammy who transferred me to the rug division where I left a message; 10/14 spoke with Joe in the carpet cleaning division who said it would be ready 10/17; 10/25 spoke with Christina who left messages with the managers on duty for someone to call me back; 10/27 spoke with Jordan who transferred me to the rug division again so I could leave a message. On 10/28 I spoke with Melanie. She spoke to dispatch in the field and left my number for him to locate the rug and call me. On 10/31 I spoke with Brittany and she called local dispatch to have the area rug manager call me. I told her I was going to call the corporate office if I didn't hear from that person. AlI I wanted to know was when they thought the rug would be finished - I was not demanding that they have the rug to me by a certain date. I just wanted the information about delivery. And NOT ONE person called me back. I was becoming alarmed that perhaps something had happened to the rug - either they had lost it, or it had been damaged. As soon as I hung up the phone on 10/31 I received a text message on the delivery date which was November 6. I want to say that all of the people who answered the phone when I called were very cordial and tried to help. But I would never recommend this company because of their lack of communication. read more

Where do I begin. I gifted my daughter the service of whole house (carpet) cleaning. She called, ordered the services, got a price & scheduled. I called today (the morning of cleaning) to pay & verified her service. When Stanley Steamer got there, he (ONE person) said that she had to pay more money to do the stairs, which WERE (should have been) part of the verified (and ordered) service. So --- she called me about the extra money needed (remember it was a gift!). I called the company. I was told that she had 2 orders and I must have been quoted for the "cancelled one". Excuse me?? 2 orders were not placed. She (or I) cancelled nothing. I was transferred to the "dispatcher". I explained it AGAIN... he said that they would do the stairs & protector "free". WHAT's free? I paid EXACTLY what we were quoted. Yes, I agree that there were too many convos going on, BUT... Place an order. Schedule said order. Pay for the order. Do the work... Instead, I am fit to be tied mad. The ONE 'cleaner' did her entire house- 2 bdrm, hall, stairs, dining & living, cleaned AND treated in less than 40 minutes. In the past, it took them (Stanley Steamer) well over an hour, with 2 'cleaners'. So never, ever again. They SHOULD have sent a written QUOTE, so NO confusion. Instead of this 'he said', 'she said', 'pay us more', 'we'll give you free' boloney. They made the wrong person angry.... LEARN from my lesson. read more

Had Stanley come out to clean carpets in 3 bedrooms and a hallway. They sent two cleaners who worked at the same time. One went to clean the hallway and 2 smaller bedrooms and stayed busy the entire time working on those areas. The second cleaner started on the main bedroom but during the process he disappeared for about 20 minutes. I could not find him readily, but assumed he had gotten a call or was tending to the equipment on the truck, etc. He reappeared and finished shampooing the main bedroom. While the other cleaner started to break down their equipment the one who had cleaned our main bedroom tried to sell me furniture/fabric cleaning services. Our leather furniture certainly didn't need "fabric cleaning" and the fabric covered couch and chair had both recently been recovered. He kept trying hard to sell me the services and promised me I would not recognize the 6 month old furniture after it had been cleaned. When I declined repeatedly he got angry and muttered some rather harsh language as he stomped off to prepare our bill. When he brought the bill in he was very unpleasant and I was more than ready for him to be gone. That's when we really started to notice issues. I went into the main bathroom and discovered black bootprints going back and forth across our beautiful white tile floor. The cleaner who had disappeared had used our bathroom without asking. Unfortunately, he had walked between the door and the water closet/toilet and back a couple of times leaving black bootprints all the way. Unfortunately, he had left remnants and marks behind in our toilet as well. But it gets worse. The main bedroom carpeting was drenched. It was clear that their system had dumped lots of water and cleaning fluid into the carpet but had, apparently, failed to remover any of it. It was as if the room had been flooded. I immediately went out and rented a commercial vacuum system to remove as much of the fluid as possible. I went over the carpet twice and removed a great deal of fluid but the carpet was still quite damp. After removing as much as was possible with the commercial vacuum, I placed multiple fans in the room and turned the A/C down to remove as much humidity as possible. We were unable to use the room for the entire weekend. I called the company and got the local franchise owner on the line. He was barely apologetic for the issues we had experienced. I went on to explain that an apology was of no help and that I was concerned about the carpet and possibly subfloor being damaged or ruined. The best he could do was to offer me a whopping 10% off if I wanted to pay them to come out and clean it again. That carpet was never right again and we ended up replacing it at great expense. read more

Our garage is carpeted and recently the entire contents of a 130-oz bottle of concentrated laundry detergent leaked out and soaked into the carpet creating a very large stain so we immediately called Stanley Steemer for help. Bobby and Travis, Service Technicians, arrived on time and did a wonderful job removing the detergent from the carpet as well as the stain and then steam cleaned all of the garage carpet and it now looks brand new. We are very pleased with the excellent service and quick response from Stanley Steamer and a Big Thank You to Bobby and Travis for their hard work - GREAT JOB!!! If I could give them negative stars I would. I brought them out to clean 4 rooms, stairs and an area rug. Over $500 later the area rug was still dirty, they came back out and then said to clean further it would have to be taken offsite. They charged me another $185 to take away, fast forward over a month and no word on my rug return. I have called 4 times, was told each time I'd get a call back as the rug dept was busy and they needed to outage my rug. I called again today to understand its return after no callbacks and was told Tuesday they could bring it back, only days they have are a 4hr window on Tuesdays, so time off work to wait for them to deliver as no other days are available. Terrible service unless you want to pay over $500 for cleaning then they are out that day. DO NOT USE this company. Still waiting on my rug. read more

A Stanley Steemer crew came out to my home in Charlotte to clean the carpet and another came to clean the ductwork. The former tore the bottom off my storm door and the latter tore the flex ductwork. Both were obvious damage but neither were reported by them. Their workmanship was also poor. Their charge was far more than they were worth. I would never call Stanley Steemer again. read more

Other companies don't have the sophisticated equipment to do a thorough cleaning, like the gas powered SSteemer truck cleaning system. Be wary of companies using small electrical cleaners. I had Stanley sterner come in April for my sofa and they did a terrific job. They came back three weeks ago for my loveseat and left dirt on the loveseat in two different places. Ive contacted them through the survey the sent me and directly. They've ignored both attempts at communication and won't even respond or apologize. I will not use them again. read more

I asked if they could come back at the scheduled time. They agreed ... grudgingly. Never saw them again. Never got a call. It's amusing to watch the arrogance of these companies now. Drake from Stanley Steemer was so great to deal with today for our dryer vent cleaning, as was the scheduling person Lori I spoke with yesterday. Lori scheduled us right away this morning and she answered all my questions in a thorough and friendly manner. Their price is $125, which I thought was very reasonable as compared to another company that I called. Drake was professional, thorough, and took extra care with our dryer coil, and the coil that went through our house and outside to suck out the dryer vent in the roof. This is the first time we have had this service done, and will definitely use Stanley Steemer annually for this (fire prevention). They were recommended by our neighbor, which we are grateful for. read more

I had used this local franchise numerous times and usually without issue. This particular time one of the two crew was extremely unprofessional. The other did a fine job and worked quickly and efficiently. However, the problem employee absolutely soaked our expensive master bedroom carpet. When he was done it was literally sopping wet as if he had sprayed it down with a garden hose and never bothered to vacuum any of the water out. Moreover he spent about 30 minutes using our master bathroom without bothering to ask. This was during the time he was supposed to be cleaning the master bedroom carpet. His black soled work boots left a trail of black boot prints two and from the toilet of our master bathroom that we had to clean from our white tile and grout. After he finished with our master bedroom carpet he tried to sell us some furniture cleaning services. Our furniture at the time was mostly new and very clean. It needed nothing. When he finally gave up trying to upsell us he got angry and stormed out to his van. The other worker finished up by cleaning our upstairs hallway carpet and the front stair carpeting and left without incident. All of his work was fine. The carpet in the rooms he had cleaned were lightly damp like normal. We ran ceiling fans and let the HVAC system run to help dry them. They were dry within a day. When we walked into the master bedroom our expensive carpeting "squished" beneath our feet. Water and cleaning solution oozed up around our shoes and it was clear it has saturated both the fairly new carpet and padding. We had spent a lot of money replacing the padding and carpet only a year or so earlier and were concerned about the damage this could cause to the carpet and possibly subfloor. I called Stanley Steemer and finally got ahold of a manager who offered to have another crew come and clean the master bedroom carpet AGAIN and he would authorize a 10% discount for the second cleaning. I explained several times over that I didn't want more water put on the carpet that I just wanted this fluid removed. He would not do anything to help. I called another company and explained what happened. They sent a team out who vacuumed as much water from the carpet as they could. They also set up high powered ventilation and a couple of powerful dehumidifiers and left them in place for 2 days. They also checked our subfloor and crawlspace. The carpet did dry but it took a lot of vacuuming on their part and 2 full days even with high powered fans and dehumidifiers. The carpet was never quite right afterwards (stiff and rough) and the clean-up was expensive and time consuming. Bottom line, never, ever trust Stanley Steemer to do anything in your house. Replacing that carpet and padding was about $3000 and we spent more on the cleanup than we did on the initial "cleaning". My guess is that the technician started to clean the master carpet when he felt natures call. He then went and sat on the toilet for an extended period. During this time I suspect that the system continued pumping water and cleaning fluid onto the carpet. I cannot think of any other possibility for how SO MUCH water and cleaning fluid got dumped into one room. read more

Last weekend I was scheduled to have an air duct and hardwood floor cleaning with Stanley Steemer. I had scheduled these a week in advance and was specifically told that duct cleaning needs to be done before the floor so that any mess from the former will be clean d well later. When booking I was asked and I did provide info that I lived in a condo and the floor where I live. They mentioned that they need to get portable equipment for both cleaning due to this. All good. On the morning of the cleaning I get a text and also a map showing where the cleaning specialists were for the duct cleaning only to have them show up and say that the cleaning cannot be done in that day. The reason provided was that the portable equipment was sent for some other appointment. My thought was - is my business not as important despite booking it in advance and stating my living situation?? I also asked what about the floor cleaning later which their own service agents said should be after the duct cleaning and their response was - oh well and a shrug. I called their Charlotte office to inquire about the snafu and if there was another one likely to happen later with the floor cleaning. The agent lol was very understanding and also said she had not faced such a situation before and will try to see if both cleaning can be scheduled on Monday, this couldn't happen. She was told by the duct cleaning manager that it won't be so bad after they are done cleaning, I was definitely sure that it won't be the case. The agent told me that she has taken notes and that a manger would get in touch the following week, an entire week has gone by, no call. Later that afternoon the floor cleaning specialists came in and another series of surprises followed. They asked if there was wax on my floor and I said that I haven't applied it but that it's normal for hardwood floors to have been waxed. They performed some test and said there is wax and that it was another $800 odd to remove the wax and then clean. This would be over and above the $500+ quote I had already received. Again, when I provided details about my flooring why was I not asked about this and also told about the additional cost likely to be incurred. I declined the wax removing process and just went with the steam cleaning. The surprises continued, I noticed that the closets were not done, they are inside the room and also have hardwood, they said closets have to be changed separately. Uhhh...why? It's not outside my house or a separate room, reason is that it's a walk in closet, again why was I not told about all this nickel and dime-ing for what was supposed to be a simple 2 bedroom condo cleaning? The following Monday the duct cleaning folks came in and did their business and as I suspected despite them dry mopping wherever their equipment was - very heavy duty machine and large suction hoses etc, needless to say there was good amount of dirt on the floor from the wheels and hoses. Am hoping that by sharing this experience with my neighbors y'all can be aware of possible hidden costs and snafus involved. My learning is that If the house or condo is not too large, can get buy good steam cleaner yourself and get the job done. Air duct cleaning of course would need to get done by a professional cleaning company. read more

The customer service was amazing! They were both incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and wanted to make sure that I was completely satisfied with the job. Today, people are quick to complain, so I picked up the phone and called to let Stanley Steemer know how happy I was with the job and with Robert & Melvin. The young lady that answered must be from a call center or corporate but said she would let the local office know that I called in. The guys were professional, quick, kept me involved in the process, showing me what they were finding and what they were doing, and were done pretty quickly. Spent over $200 to clean a small 3 bedroom house, moving so the house is empty, no bad spots just traffic areas, spent about 35 minutes and the carpet didn't look any better. My husband asked them about the traffic areas and they said there was nothing they could do about that. Like others, I wish I could give zero stars. We'd scheduled a whole house cleaning (tile, wood, carpets) as well as an air duct/filter cleaning. Despite scheduling it 3 weeks out, I was called the morning of the cleaning to be informed that the floor cleaning & duct cleaning couldn't be done at the same time (makes sense but nothing online indicated that was the case nor did I appreciate the last second call to inform me of it - they'd had 3 weeks!!!). Moreover, the work done (or not done) was horrendous - the carpets were done well so no complaints there but there was zero evidence that the wood floors or tile had been cleaned. There was significant dust and debris on the floors such that even running a dry paper towel over the floor would have left a trail (i.e. impossible to have cleaned at all and have the floors look like that after). When I called to complain about it, was given the number for the manager which I then found out was just the general number so they had to search for the manager's name (Joe) to try to connect me. He wasn't available so went to his voicemail where I left a message with my name, number, & address and that I wanted him to come out & see the floors so I could get a refund (as I wasn't planning on having them "clean" again). A week passed with no response so I called again and once again he was unavailable (on the phone at that time apparently) so left a message with all my info & stressing that I wanted to be called back ASAP. Another week passed with no response so I instigated a dispute on the charge with the credit card company and that finally lead to him calling me late on a Friday. I was on another call so it went to voicemail and when I called back to try to talk to him first thing on the following Monday morning, it again went to voicemail and I, not surprisingly, still haven't heard back from him. I'd used Stanley Steemer in the past and was happy with their service but am beyond unimpressed with the Charlotte office and their level of customer service and will not be using them again. As you can see from the other reviews, its apparently a craps shoot as to whether or not you'll be happy with their service - up to you if you want to take that gamble! read more

We have used Stanley Steamer two times now and both times the service was great. Carpets and couches look much cleaner! I decided to put the scotch guard on the couch after being asked. Glad I was reminded of this as we have two big dogs that like to lay on our couches. We have never had our carpets cleaned and they were very dirty, thanks to those lovely pups, but look sooo much better now. The carpets in the three rooms are close to 10 years old, I hate to say. Save your money! Had them come "deep clean" our hardwood floors, and put down the protectant. I told them to leave after doing only 1 room, and paid for that only! I could have done better with a paper towel and 409..... The machine they use does not "deep clean", and they go back over with a swiffer. The room they did clean, looked the same after they left!! Save your money, hire a private/local company that will actually clean them.... Or do it yourself!! read more

Had this Stanley Steemer location out to our new home to clean about 3000 sq ft of carpets. Granted, they were not pretty to begin with, but I have used Stanley Steemer in another state numerous times before and they always get my carpets looking brand new! There were some stains and I understand they could not be removed and was fine with that, but there was plenty of dirt left behind as they only do one pass with their equipment. When I told them the carpets were still dirty,the reply I got was how he "promised me" what happened was that, they "were worn so much that the color is no longer in the carpet" and what I was seeing was a "shadow". I took some paper towels, blotted the still damp carpets, and showed the guy the DIRT on them. They did a quick second pass, just in one area, got up some more of the dirt, but dirt again remained. Then he wanted to argue with me over the price - which he had confirmed with the owner/manager before they even began the job. The stairs, still dirty, other rooms, still dirty. The worst $370 I ever spent and I really HATE people that lie to your face a swear it's the truth. This is someone's business and these young guys ruin it. read more

We called Stanley Steamers to clean our carpets after deciding to wait on having them replaced. Yes they were that bad! We have 2 dogs and 1 cat who had an infection that caused him to pee on the carpets. We were skeptical since the carpet was so old and stained, and they warned us when they saw the carpets that all the stains may not come up. It only took 30 minutes and all stains were removed! The smell was gone and we no longer want to rip the carpet up. We will next year but Stanley Steamer bought us some time! I wish we would have done it last year. read more

Extremely satisfied, have used them many times over the years and have never had an issue. They always offer to move things for free, they do a good job and the carpets are dry within 24 hours. I like being able to schedule them from the website without having to call, pricing is straightforward and reasonable. Very satisfied! Michael and Mark came at the scheduled time on June 30 to clean our carpets. They wore booties to protect our floors from outside dirt. They got rid of stains as well as dirt. Michael suggested that he could steam clean our large tile floor in the kitchen, bathroom and hallway. The grout was dark from years of wear, but he said he could get it looking as good as new. He was right, the grout is now back to its original light color! Wow. The guys were very professional, with Michael talking about cleaning techniques with his partner as they worked. They obviously love their job and love satisfying the customer. Will definitely have them come again to clean our carpets AND floor. read more

Used Stanley Steemer for hardwood floor cleaning- yes lots of dirty water in the sink but overall results were dissapointing and I thought it was quite expensive- $260 They also did an Oriental carpet and I had an upholstered chair cleaned and I was satisfied with their work. Our grandson barfed on our white carpet on Saturday night and we had a pretty dark stain. We tried unsuccessfully to remove it so on Sunday morning we went online and scheduled Stanley Steemer for Monday morning. They arrived at 9:20 (less than 24 hours after being scheduled) and completely removed the stain and cleaned the whole upstairs hallway, something we had been meaning to do, anyway. The gentleman who came to my house was very friendly and professional. However, he spent a total of 45 minutes in my house clean 3 large rooms and stairs. The carpet does not look clean and smells even filthier. What is worse is that it has a greasy residue and is still not dry. Even though I was upsold on the "deodorizer", my carpets smell like wet dog. I completely threw away $210. My Bissell ProHeat does a better job. I could not be more disgusted.
