As a customer of ARCE Heating and AC since 2018 who has invested thousands of dollars in their services, I feel obligated to warn others about their unprofessional conduct and disregard for customer commitments. After years of them persistently promoting their maintenance plan, we finally signed up last year, believing it would ensure priority service and regular system care. How wrong we were. ARCE cancelled my long-scheduled maintenance appointment with just 24 hours' notice, citing a need to prioritize emergency no-AC calls. This cancellation came despite the appointment being made 6 weeks in advance and my having adjusted my work schedule to accommodate it. When I offered to reschedule to the following week - though inconvenient - they insisted they could only schedule during July 4th week, knowing I had already informed them I would be out of town. I was surprised by their inflexibility and unwillingness to work with my schedule, even when I tried to be accommodating. What's particularly frustrating is that regular maintenance is essential for preventing AC failures during peak summer months. By pushing my maintenance appointment to July, they're essentially creating a situation where my system could potentially fail during the hottest part of the year - exactly when emergency service would be most difficult to obtain. One can't help but wonder if this is intentional, as emergency repairs are far more profitable than routine maintenance. If they consistently prioritize emergency calls over their maintenance plan customers, why even offer a maintenance plan? The professionalism of their Operations Manager, Jacqueline, was very disappointing. She failed to call as promised, leaving me waiting for hours throughout the day. When a response finally came, it was just a dismissive text. After questioning when I would receive a call, I was told they were too busy and their only solution was to cancel my prepaid maintenance membership and issue a refund if I couldn't accommodate their last-minute schedule change. The refusal to even have a phone conversation about the situation insinuated that I, as a long-term customer, wasn't even worth a few minutes of their time for a proper discussion - even if the outcome wouldn't have changed. Talking to your customers is typically a basic professional courtesy. For anyone considering ARCE's services: be aware that scheduled maintenance appointments apparently mean nothing to them, and they'll cancel with minimal notice regardless of your schedule or loyalty as a customer. Save yourself the frustration and find a company that actually values their customers' time and honors their commitments. Update: In response to the business owner's reply: I want to make it clear that at no point was I "combative." I remained respectful throughout my communications, even when faced with last-minute cancellations and a refusal to even discuss other options than the one option they provided. Regarding their mention of "privacy boundaries," I have not violated any laws by sharing text message correspondence. In South Carolina, it is entirely legal to share written communications I was part of--particularly when done to clarify facts and protect against misleading claims. I shared these messages to provide transparency and defend myself from the company's attempt to discredit my experience. The fact that they responded with veiled legal threats instead of accountability is deeply disappointing and says more about their customer service than anything else. Any further threats from this company will result in me escalating the matter as well. read more

I requested help in fixing an issue with an AC ceiling vent leaving a water stain, most likely caused by some sort of condensation issue. I gave them my home address and requested a Friday that week if they were able to do so. The times they selected on a Friday were too late for me (4-8pm), so I asked for times available on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. On Monday, they offered 12-4pm. I accepted and said "let's do Monday". They didn't reply for 2 days. I messaged them again with "can you please confirm Monday 12-4pm?" They replied with "You were sent the confirmation for the appointment." Which is an incredibly rude way to reply, as I am left sitting here thinking "ok, you think you sent me a confirmation, but... a confirmation for WHICH DAY AND TIME?" I replied asking which day and time the appointment was for on their records. They replied with a screenshot of an appointment confirmation text message that was sent to the wrong number, not my number. So, they had made an error, and the screenshot showed Monday 4-8pm, not the Monday 12-4pm they had quoted me. Next they say I am "outside of our coverage area, sorry" and they cancel on me. Even though they believed they had confirmed an appointment already for my address??? How do you CONFIRM an appointment for an address that isn't in your "coverage area"? This is either a lie to not have to deal with what they perceive to be a "problem customer", or it's just the 2nd act of incompetence they have demonstrated here after first sending the confirmation texts to the wrong phone number. They can't send messages to the right customer number. They can't stick to the appointment time they agreed to. And they don't know what their own coverage area is and will book you anyways just to cancel you later. A comedy of errors with these clowns. read more

We called around 9:45pm last night and requested emergency service and explained that we have an elderly Father in the home with COPD and how important his health is and the need for AC and Arce showed up within about 1.5 hours and had us cooling very shortly after! Did you know that most HVAC Manufacturers will not honor a warranty if you don't have a maintenance contract with a Vendor? I've been in my first owner townhouse for about 3 years and have a maintenance contract with Arce. They were recommend by the Community Face Book users @ Waterside - Catawaba. It took some focused and intense diagnostics but the Arce team delivered. From the first call with Katie, I was impressed. I've been in the HR/Customer Service environment for 30+ years of my career at the Fortune 300 level and this lady is an exceptional pro. I got great service from the Team of Joel Carroll, Edwin Melgar and Dylan Fawcett. I have a dual zone unit and the damper motor went bad. Turns out it was clogged with insulation so after 3 years it gave out. They even sent someone out on a Sunday service call to make sure I could get my AC going. They ended up building a damper assembly unit to ensure the door would open and close and the air would flow smoothly & evenly. I also got a call from the Company owner, Mr Robert Arce (like R.C.). He understands the importance of Customer Service and going the extra mile to ensure professionalism and integrity. This is an exceptional independently owned and operated local company. Get on their maintenance program and rest assured you'll get quality service at a fair price. Your HVAC Manufacturer will not deny your claim for products covered under warranty. I especially like that they have 24 X 7 service contact. When they send a service vehicle, you will get a text/email that allows you to track the progress of their route. It is unfortunate that everyone else seems to have had a great experience with Arce, but we did not have that same experience. Our air stopped working on a Sunday evening and after looking at reviews of multiple companies, I decided to contact Arce that evening. I heard back very quickly and scheduled an appointment for someone to show up between 9-11 and we would be notified when someone was on their way. Well we had a miserable night of sleep that night as it was quite warm in the house, ended up moving downstairs to sleep on the couches! My husband stayed and worked from home to meet with the tech who would be coming over. As it was in the 90s, it was a warm and humid morning, again miserable for my husband to work from home. He kept checking in with me to see if I had heard anything hoping someone would be on their way. Around 10:30 I contact the company, (they were still within their appointment time), but we had not even heard a peep as to someone at least being on their way. Shortly later, someone ended up showing up, still never heard from someone that they would be on their way. My husband shortly later informed me that we had cool air in our house! When I got home in the evening, it felt like it was cooler in the house, but upon feeling the vents, it did not feel like it was cool air coming out. Sure enough, the unit was just blowing air, nothing cool and the outside unit was no longer running again. I contacted Arce just before 5:30 PM and said we were having the same issues all over again. Once a job in Matthews was finished, Robert mentioned he would come over. No estimate on arrival, but by 8 PM, I was getting frustrated with the lack of communication. I had not heard anything so I reached out yet again. I was told he was no longer coming as he was stuck in Matthews, but the tech that came out this morning would be coming over and I could reach out to him for a time arrival. I contacted the tech with the number Robert supplied and asked when he would be coming over. The response was absolutely uncalled for and rude. I was told "Look, I would have called, but the number in the system was an 855 number and I am on my way". A simple I will be over there in a few minutes would have sufficed. Plus, I had nothing to do with how our number was entered into your system, I gave the correct number from the start. Our tech arrived and only spoke with my husband. I was around and he walked by multiple times, never acknowledging me. A little friendliness goes a long way. At any rate, back to the job. He looked around again and it seemed like he was unsure of what to do. He had to actually call for suggested help. He then came back inside asking if we had any vinegar. Sure we will supply what you need for you. He used that to clean out the drain. The air started to work again. He commented that he was sorry for not getting it fixed properly the first time, and if it gives us problems again, to give us a call, but also mentioned he wasn't sure what was going on if this doesn't help. Really makes you feel good on whether something is fixed or not. Sure enough, it sounded like our drains were still clogged the next morning. My husband tried cleaning them out for a temporary fix just like Arce had done. At this point, we decided we would chuck up the loss and move on to another company. We had another company come out and while Arce was on the right path that the drain was clogged, they did not properly get it cleared out. The other company came by and did a thorough job with the suction and snake to clean out the drain lines. Since then, we have had no issues. Sure Arce helped us get by, but that's all they did. Frustrations with a complete job and communications were enough to say no thanks to them in the future. read more

Had much the same experience as the the previous reviewer. The came the 1st time and were very nice and talked us into replacing the whole unit so that we could have dual thermostats. What a HUGE mistake!!! The new unit was not installed properly from the start and Chris, the sales manager, knew there were issues but just left them. The air worked for a few days before freezing up and failing. They scheduled an appointment and never showed up or called. When the did finally show up they "fixed" it again which last a few days before failing. I had to call Robert multiple times to get any response or anyone back out. Turns out they had to replace the entire new unit with yet another unit because they sold us a unit too large for the space. The new unit failed as well. After a month of complete incompetence, a partial refund and still having a nonworking unit, Robert hired a different company to come in and redo all of the faulty work that his company did. I would say to stay away from this company. If Chris shows up at your house, get rid of him. He will lie to you and try to get you to pay for things you don't need and that he is not capable of nor knowledgable enough to install. Robert is nice enough but clearly lacks the knowledge to be trusted to work on your unit. read more

He was very professional and quite helpful, sharing information pertaining to my house and my circumstances. The information and advice would allow the system to run efficiently and keep me safer in the process. Robert is absolutely wonderful! Prompt responses to my messages and very personable. Wonderful communication. My upstairs AC was reading 78 degrees when it was set to 70. Everything so far has been great with Arce. John Michael who took my call was friendly and was able to get someone out to look at my unit the same day. Communication was via an automated system which told gave me the appointment details after making it. I was informed when the tech was on his way and once he was complete. Kris showed up and diagnosed the issue quickly and provided me with some different options. Kris wasn't trying to push me in any direction and only informed me of the different option. Excellent! Family owned and operated, which is what I prefer. I've been ripped off by the big companies several times before, so I decided to try Arce Heating and AC based on a neighbor's recommendation. They came when my AC went out on my house in the heatwave very quickly and on time. Was fast, friendly and affordable. I didn't feel pressured into any upselling like Morris Jenkins that tries to upsell you on everything. I use Arce Heating and AC for my rental property as well. They fixed a leak in my AC unit for a good price and the unit has never been colder. Highly recommend! We are using them now to install HVAC in our basement we are refinishing. A+++ read more

I was referred to this company by Craig, another AC guy in the area who was out of town when my AC was on the fritz. He referred me to them over a year ago and I've been working with them ever since. They are always very professional and are quick to respond, book a time to come out, and update me on their arrival, etc. Matt really broke everything down for me and when able, gave me multiple options.
