We ordered matchas, a chocolate pan, curry pan, fruit sando, and the wanpaku sando without bacon. Everything was sooooooo good. The breads were soft, the flavors were spot on, and every single thing felt worth trying. Loved it and already can't wait to go back. Was finally able to try Stand after a cool co worker let us know she was picking up some lunch. I love sandwiches so I knew that was the route I'd take and wait for an in-person visit to try one of the matcha's I keep hearing about. So there was alot of comments about the egg and the chicken katsu. I decided to try the egg first. Packaging was the perfect size and sealed well. The looks of the sandwich was appealing so I was ready to dig in. So my honest opinion, its a regular egg sandwich, nothing stood out. It was stuffed well and the bread was fine but nothing to be wow'd about. But I will say my coworkers tried the strawberry matcha, the corn bechamel, and the sweet potato and honey toast. They said it was all good and worth it. But the true winner was the chicken katsu sandwich. For that alone I will be going to try that and some other things like a bento box or grain bowl. Finally tried Stand to see what all the hype was about. There was a line outside, but thankfully it moved pretty fast. I ordered the chicken katsu and was pleasantly surprised. The portion was generous and left me feeling full without that overly stuffed, guilty feeling afterward. I also tried the matcha, but it just wasn't for me. The packaging is super cute, and the tiny space has a lot of charm. I can definitely see why people keep coming back. STAND is a new concept in Coral Gables brought to you by the same team behind SHINGO. I have heard so much about it and, after visiting Japan, I'm always searching for more spots that transport me back to Japan without the price tag of a ticket. We ended up visiting since we were in Coral Gables. They are on Miracle Mile and super easy to spot. We came pretty late in the day around 2pm on a weekend, so I knew they would most likely be sold out of most of their items. When we arrived, the line wasn't too long and there were some seats inside, which was nice. When we got to the front of the line, the only food items left were the shio pan curry pastry, so we decided to grab one of those and some drinks. I got the signature matcha and my boyfriend got the hojicha. Unfortunately, they also ran out of their cold foam that makes each of these drinks signature so that was a bummer but we still wanted to try them out. The order didn't take too long to come out, which was nice. After we got the curry pan, it was piping hot so we waited for a bit to cool down. I was super hungry so I didn't wait too long and after opening it up to cool it, it actually wasn't too hot on the inside. To our surprise, there wasn't much filling for this, which was pretty disappointing. There was barely any filling and the curry taste was pretty faint. As for the drinks, the hojicha was pretty good but the matcha was also disappointing. I LOVE matcha but I think I'm pretty easy to please and this matcha tasted more like milk than anything. Maybe it was just a one-off experience but I was sad it didn't have more matcha. Their signature drink did come with a strawberry syrup that seemed to be made from scratch and was the redeeming quality of this drink. Been to this spot 3 times in the last two weeks at the time of this review, and yes I definitely think it's worth trying at least once! Things I've had: - Signature Hojicha - Egg Sando - BLT Sando - Curry Shiopan - BEC Toast That hojicha has me in a chokehold! I don't drink coffee, I needed a break from Matcha, and this is the main reason I keep coming back (I live 30mins away). All of the food items I have tried are good, though the BEC is the standout so far. If you're looking for a quick bite to go with your coffee/matcha/hojicha, the shiopan is definitely a good move. I liked the curry one and want to do others. Definitely be prepared to wait, the there's usually a line and it takes about an hour start to finish (and potentially more depending on how much you order & how many in your party. This third time I came around 2:40 on a Wednesday afternoon and it's been the shortest wait (no line outside and few people ahead of me to order). Inside can be cramped if there's a lot of people waiting. Was finally able to site down inside this third time, though I felt kinda rushed pressured to finish quickly since I was alone. Mad proud of the SHINGO team, they have definitely brought significant shine to Coral Gables! Will definitely be back for more. read more

Cozy Japanese style sandwich (and soon to be available bento) shop with matcha and hojicha drinks. Sandwiches 4/5. The packaging made the sandwiches difficult to grab, without making a mess. Recommend shop to use wrapping paper for each half of the sandwich (instead of wrapping at the bottom of the box). Or cut the sandwiches into quarters (see Ginza Sand in Tokyo). Taste was decent. Matcha lattes 3/5. Didn't have enough body to the drinks. Recommend switching to a more creamy milk and a thicker cream top. Overall, we appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. We snuck into Stand recently, the lines are always insane so we caught a small lull and even had a chance to sit down and eat inside. Food was well packaged and had good portions. The drinks were my favorite - i had the strawberry matcha latte. Looking forward to them expanding their menu, it's already posted in the restaurant of what they'll have soon. Very excited to visit again when the whole menu is available. There's very limited parking, even down where Stand is, def recommend walking if you can. read more

Been craving Japanese food for a long time other than sushi and I'm glad to see that this place opened up. Due to them still being in the soft opening stage, part of their menu isn't available yet and they sell out pretty early, so I recommend going before noon. I've been several times and tried majority of their items and I've liked every item so far. Drinks: Matcha Latte (not pictured) 5/5 - Not too sweet, perfect balance of umami Signature Matcha Latte 5/5 - The mascarpone foam and strawberry puree give it more sweetness than the regular latte while not overpowering it and masking the matcha. They balance each other out very well. Hojicha Latte 5/5 - Not too sweet with a roasted nutty flavor Signature Hojicha Latte 5/5 - Same nutty flavor with a sweetness that makes it more rich Food: BEC Toast 5/5 - Perfectly toasted, cheesy, packed with flavor Pizza Toast 3/5 - Wasn't a fan of having a big piece of tomato fall out whenever I took a bite, but it was very flavorful Corn Bechamel (not pictured) 5/5 - Creamy, cheesy, slightly sweet, and well balanced Sweet Potato + Honey Toast 5/5 - My favorite out of the toasts, torched honey which gives it a crème brûlée effect and balanced the sweetness. the chicken katsu sando is out of this world! the homemade milk bread is soft and flavorful and the perfect complement to the lightly breaded and fried juicy chicken. the hojicha was really tasty as well and my friend said her matcha was a 10/10. i got the special version of the hojocha with the sweetener and while i dont usually like my drinks sweet, this was perfectly balanced. i cant wait to go back! ps - not sure how it gets throughout the day, but i arrived 5 minutes before opening on a thursday and there were 5 people waiting in line. read more

Stand has been all over social media and DEFINITELY lives up to the hype. All of the sandwiches were incredible. So far, I've had the chicken Katsu Sando, the egg Sando, the tonkatsu Sando, and the fruit Sando. My favorite by far was the chicken Katsu Sando, but they were all incredible. If you get the egg Sando, you definitely have to really like egg but I do so I loved it. The fruit sando was also very refreshing and I think had the perfect balance of cream and strawberries. Very fresh! I also had the opportunity to try some of the bento boxes, and I loved the pickles and the potato salad. It was great value for the bento boxes since you also got to get a miso soup with it and rice. I also finally got to try the curry pan and cream pan and loved them both! Not too sweet and both super flavorful. It's obviously the soft opening so they don't have everything on the menu and they sell out of the shio pans pretty early. So if you go anytime later in the day, they're usually not gonna have it at least some of the things on the menu so I recommend going early if you want to try something specific for the time being. Lastly, I tried both the signature Matcha and the signature hojicha, and they both were perfectly balanced and not too sweet and great quality!! The staff was incredibly nice and had great suggestions. There was a line some days that I went, but the earlier I went there wasn't really any line. Regardless it moved quickly, and the staff was really helpful directing people in and out. it was really cute on the inside and there was plenty of seats although you might have to snag one while you wait for your food when it gets busy. Such a good spot for egg sandwiches! The one we originally wanted was already sold out, which honestly speaks to how popular this place is. Definitely get here early if you want your first choice because the lines can get pretty long and the good stuff goes fast. The matcha was also really good--a little milky for my preference, but it still tasted authentic and not artificial at all. A little clustered inside gets pretty packed. Had to check this place out while the hype is building, but I left a little underwhelmed. Got there around 9:30 AM and waited about 10-15 minutes outside, which wasn't bad. Since they're still in soft opening mode, most of the menu wasn't available yet. We tried the egg salad, chicken katsu, and pork katsu sandos. The chicken katsu was crispy, flavorful, and definitely the strongest item we ordered. Unfortunately, the pork katsu was extremely dry. Biggest surprise: the egg salad sando was the one I had been most excited for, but it ended up being my least favorite. I also had my eye on the strawberry & cream sando but they were already sold out. Their signature matcha was absolutely delicious and easily the highlight of the visit. Finally an authentic, delicious, and reasonably priced Japanese cafe in Miami! My friends and I loved everything we ordered during the soft opening, as we expected given its the chef behind nearby Michelin starred restaurant Shingo. Here's a smoother, more natural version you could use as a review: Super disappointed. I was really excited to finally try this spot for lunch. I waited outside in the line (where it clearly says "Line Starts Here") with about seven people ahead of me for nearly 30 minutes in the sun, only to get inside and be told they had already run out of the majority of their menu items. I feel like they could have been much more proactive by having someone come outside to let everyone waiting know what was no longer available. It would have saved people a long wait in the heat and a lot of disappointment. Hopefully they improve the communication because the experience before even ordering wasn't a great one. read more

Came from Pembroke Pines to try it out but leaving disappointed. The tamago sando was decent I would say 7 out of 10. The tonkatsu sando was a huge disappointed. The gave me a burned piece, 4 out of 10. No it was not the tonkatsu sauce it was really burned. Its like dude if you over fried the tonkatsu why would you even send it out?. The person that cut the tonkatsu why would you even make a sandwich with it?. It tasted burned and I ended up throwing it out. The sweet potato honey toast was probably the best one, 8 out of 10. Sadly not a fan of this place. I had high hopes and was so excited to try a matcha and some sandwiches. Service was pretty good and the storefront is nice enough. But the food and drinks are terrible, sandwiches are soggy and have no flavor at best and downright inedible at worst. The drinks were so salty, and that's so strange! 10/10 yes! Stand is worth the hype and the price points are incredible! We went for the soft opening and arrived at 10am. Eric and Alexi are the dynamic duo that make sure communication is relayed to guests because you know Miami people can be.....Miami. lol! By the time we got up to the front to order a sandwiches (that's all they offered during the soft opening) there were two sandwiches left. We had the chicken katsu and the pork catsu. Both packed with flavor and pretty filling for a sandwich. I had the chicken without Mayo and I thought it was the way to go and will order it the same way next time. We both had matcha; one classic (cold) and one strawberry (hot). The space was cute, packed with breathing room and the service was great! The chef and Kenzi are always kind and ensure that everyone's experience is great! Can't wait until they are fully open and loving what they've delivered thus far! Everything I have tried during the soft opening has been delicious. The shio pan are perfect and my favorites are the cream, chocolate, sausage, and plain. The chicken katsu sando was out of this world. The chicken is so moist, the breading crispy, and the shokupan was so soft and fluffy. As for the matcha and hojicha, I had never had hojicha before, but that was super tasty. And the kagoshima matcha was my favorite. Been to this location 4+ times different times of day, different days that they claim they are "slow" and all they can offer is coffee or matcha. Which the Matcha is pretty good, but they never seem to have any food and are always selling out. Great business motto to have clients come back but if you are too popular you should be able to measure a rough estimate on how much clientele you are getting per day in order to satisfy more customers. read more

I drove an hour to get lunch at STAND, mentally rehearsing my order from a menu I practically know by heart. By the time I arrived, I was already tasting my meal. I patiently waited in line, ordered my drink, and then my food. "We don't have any food," the cashier said. An impressive business model, really. A restaurant with no food. What puzzled me most was the absence of a sign at the entrance. A simple "No food available today" would have saved customers the wait, the disappointment, and the false hope. Instead, we all got the full experience right up to the punchline. If you're not ready to serve customers, close the doors, fix the supply and production issues, and reopen when you're actually ready for business. It's a far better look than inviting people in only to tell them there's nothing to sell. The silver lining? There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby that are fully committed to the radical concept of having food available when customers order it. STAND, you're doing your brand no favors. You lost me as a customer. read more
