    Roasted Corn $3
    Shannon H.

Friendly Staff, Plenty of Parking, Fair Prices, HUGE Pumpkin Farm, Perfect For Both Children & Adults. Columbus Day was my first time going to Stakey's. I anticipated a crowd and I was correct but the grounds are so large that it didn't feel crowded at all. The farm should be very easy to locate. Staff were directing traffic into spaces which made parking smooth. There were plenty of spots so even during peak times. I recommend coming early. The prices are very fair which makes the overall experience much more enjoyable. Pumpkins were 69¢ per lb or all you can carry for $30. All you can carry is more than ideal if your interested in getting 3-4 medium sized pumpkins, maybe less. The pumpkins are very heavy, so if your strong and have long arms I definitely recommend giving "all you can carry" a shot! Hayrides & The Corn Maze were $6 pp. Donuts were $5 for a pack of 6 & the Roasted Corn was $3. All the other prices for drinks & other foods weren't bad either. They also sell mums and other flowers that were fairly priced. *I do have to say they have plenty of picnic tables so if picnics are your thing & you want to save some $$, pack a few sandwiches drinks for the kids. The Pumpkin Farm itself was HUGE and had a ton of healthy pumpkins for picking! They had so many options when it comes to specialty pumpkins which I liked. The farm is well taken care of and put together. The staff members here were more than helpful & extremely friendly. The donuts were absolutely spectacular!! A word of advice...buy a few boxes, they're downright delicious! I also enjoyed the freshly roasted corn. Stakey's is a place where both adults & children can come to celebrate fall. This is not only a great place to take the kids for the day but also a great for a day date or spending time with friends. I recommend Stakey's as a go to place for pumpkin picking + fall festivities!

Down on the farm for some pumpkin-ing.

Yesterday, myself, my girlfriend, and her family headed out east to do a little early season pumpkin picking. They've been coming here for years (she and her sisters have shirts!), but this was my first rodeo at Stakey's. Being a born and raised Nassau County-er limits me to farms nearby my area where pumpkins can be properly picked, so it was refreshing to walk through an actual pumpkin patch and pick some orange produce straight from the vine. And when we started walking into that patch I realized it wasn't any skimpy little plot of dirt. It was a full blown field with two huge sides of pumpkins, gourds, and tons of vine-grown veggies and fruits. It was so large that at one point we lost half our group on the other side of the patch. With a wheelbarrow full of pumpkins, we checked out at the front of the patch which presents you with a challenge: carry as much as you can from the patch to the checkout counter for one flat price, or pay per pound. With the amount we had it was a pound kind of deal, though part of me wanted to see if we could actually carry the 15 or so pumpkins and things we had. Outside of the patch is a lot of farm fun with a store filled with items that can be purchased for your lawn/home, a greenhouse, snacks/drinks and apple cider donuts made on premises, and a little game in which you can man a water pump and race with a few others to try and get a rubber ducky from one end of a trough to the other (I won the second time). Overall, the staff was friendly and the experience was one to remember as it gave us plenty of wonderful pumpkins for carving and left me with a new experience I would love to repeat again.

This is my second year coming to Stakey's for pumpkins! My boyfriend and I happened across it last year because, luckily for us, it was open on a weekday when we decided to go. We LOVE it here. The pumpkin field is so large and there are so many varieties of pumpkins that it's impossible to leave disappointed. We love that you are able to pick your own pumpkins right off the vine, true authentic pumpkin picking at its finest! We went home with pumpkins of all different shapes and sizes, including gourds, white pumpkins, and small and large orange pumpkins, and were beyond happy with our choices. On our way to our car with our pumpkins this year, we were stopped multiple times and complimented on what we were told, and believed ourselves, was the PERFECT pumpkin. We were so happy to have found the perfect pumpkin to bring home, along with a bunch of others. The best part of Stakey's is the 30 dollars for all you can carry. I love watching my boyfriend attempt to carry 10 pumpkins at once while walking the 15 or so feet to the register to pay. It's so funny to see everyone around you trying to do the same and definitely makes the experience even more fun! I definitely recommend coming here if you too are looking for the perfect pumpkin!

Had a good time at this large pumpkin farm in Aquebogue which has large pumpkin patches, a lengthy wagon ride, mums as well as snacks and such. It's one of the few farms left that don't charge to get in which is a plus. Only thing extra is the $6 wagon ride and the corn maze is the same price. Pumpkins will cost quite a lot at $.69/ lb but you can opt to take the all you can carry challenge for $30. One person has to stand behind a line, stack as many pumpkins as he or she can possibly carry, walk 10 feet to the counter without dropping any and you get the whole bundle for $30! I got 6 nice sized pumpkins for $30. Not bad. The trick is to stack them stems down. Only complaint is that this place is insanely crowded with seriously long lines at check out. Take the all you can carry challenge and obviously, it's a shorter line. Will be back next year and recommended.

Family Fun and Pet-friendly farm, took my entire family and the experience was simply awesome, the fact that pumpkin have to picked off their vines from the ground made the experience more natural and real... also has a cornfield maze $7 pp and hayride $5pp and the sold corn was delicious; We will return yearly

Oh, Stakey's. You and I have had one volatile, roller coaster of a relationship over the years. From perfectly pickable pumpkins to a muddy miserable mess Stakey's is at Mother Nature's mercy. Despite the year to year uncertainty I still recommend checking them out. No matter the down years I've had at Stakey's the good years outweigh them. When the weather cooperates there is a great variety of pumpkins from baking to carving and everything in between. In addition to your traditional pumpkins they offer butternut squash, acorn squash and miniature gourds that are three for $1. If you're looking for more than pumpkins Stakey's can still take care of you. They offer several large green houses that are brimming with mums, corn stock, Halloween signs, decorations and more. If you sign the guest book during your visit you'll receive free tickets for a hayride the next year. There is also a corn maze on the property and a snack shack with kettle corn, roasted sweet corn and more!

Ask the Community - Stakey’s Pumpkin Farm

Has anyone ever picked corn from the corn maze?

No, corn maze "corn" is considered Fake Corn, it is not the same as the corn you'd eat. It is also frowned upon to pick corn from corn mazes as it vandalizes the look of it as I've seen people try to also knock down entire stalks and just leave them… Read more

I brought my niece and nephew, and we easily had one of the funnest afternoons! The Barnyard Adventure is a paid area ($28.95 per person on weekends), but with eight acres packed full of things to do, it's worth every penny. To put the size in perspective ... it's like exploring six football fields lined up together! The highlights for the kids included getting up close with a variety of farm animals, a trike track, sports zone, and multiple playgrounds, pig races, a musical hayride ... there truly is something for all ages. The atmosphere is lively, especially with those pig races and musical hayride tours. My niece and nephew were totally engaged from start to finish. There are plenty of food stands throughout the property with the classic farm favorites. Apple cider donuts (my personal fav), popcorn, ice cream, and coffee stands for the grown-ups. Speaking of adults, a huge bonus is the vineyard right on the property. I treated myself to a glass of rosé to enjoy while the kids played, which was a nice addition. It does get busy, but the whole setup is well organized that it does not feel too crowded. Barnyard Adventure is one of those rare places that charms both kids and adults, making it a perfect fall or weekend family destination. I can't wait to come back next year for more memories (and donuts) with my niece and nephew!!

You can bring in picnic food if you wish, but they had hot dogs and basics to purchase as well as a small farm stand in the front. I would highly recommend for families with children of various ages but more geared toward 10 and under. Cant wait to go back again this summer.

Have been back a few times since. Once pulled in off the road... its such a lovely country farm with a big enclosed farm stand. Outside find lots of cheerful displays of seasonal farm items. Hay, tractors, pumpkins when in season, flowers and more. They have a nice selection of their own grown fruit and vegetables and carry other local farms produce as well. They have small signs clearly stating local, or "our own" which are always a treat to have direct from the farm. Helen's makes pies too. It's also nearby Brierrmere's down the block. The night before Thanksgiving, Helen's offered an alternative option to the long lines for pies. In summer I once tried a mixed berry pie. This time tried an apple and pumpkin. This was the year for less baking and smaller lines... this made it easy. Much appreciated. Pies seemed not too homemade. Crisp sliced apple with the same gel like cinnamon on most of the apple pies out here. Not too homemade tasting. Seemed more commercial frozen and bake. So for true homemade pies, try nearby Junda's or Briermere. For an ok assortment of grab and go pie, this worked. The lady's are sort of pleasant but leaning more toward efficient and courteous. Not the warmest vibe here on different visits. No one seems genuinely friendly like you might want at a small town shop. Once asked about a pie, and one woman sort of mocked my question joking "its a fruit pie" slightly sarcastic. The cashier on a another visit wouldn't show a pie, by opening a box citing the owners rules. So took my chances. Lol. That shouldn't deter you, its clean, fresh and pretty to look at. A nice stop off when touring at the beginning of the North Fork.

Initially the farm's main crop was strawberries, and thus the farm was named Strawberry Hollow Farm for their main crop and for the hollow that it sits in. Harvey's government work as a research wildlife biologist took him out of the country and away from his farm in June, the most important month for strawberries. By 1981, Harvey transitioned from growing strawberries to growing members of the pumpkin family, because the growing schedule for pumpkins matched his work schedule. When he retired in 2001, Harvey realized his dream to farm his land full time. In addition to farming crops, Strawberry Hollow Farm also has a small gift shop where they sell various crafts. My family and I recently visited Strawberry Hollow Farm for the first time. There are so many different varieties of pumpkins and other various gourds on display, and their mums were just breathtaking. My wife and I dressed our son like Linus from "Peanuts". There were several spots on the farm for us to stage a "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" photo shoot. In addition to jack-o-lantern pumpkins and sugar pumpkins, Harvey cultivates giant pumpkins that can weigh up to 300 pounds (the kind that you see at a County Fair). The craft shop was really cool too; lots of Autumn and Halloween decorations. In the winter months, everything is themed around Christmas decorations. We purchased a couple of sugar pumpkins to take with us. We enjoyed our time at Strawberry Hollow Farm and we plan on returning in the future.
