They have a great selection overall and I like that they offer larger sizes on some of the trees and shrubs. This nursery and garden center in Aquebogue has a selection of plants, shrubs and trees like I never seen before anywhere else. It's gigantic! I kind of felt overwhelmed with how much and just how huge this place really is. I passed by it hundreds of times on my way out to the North Fork but since I need to redo my yard, I figured I'd stop in. I was seriously impressed by the selection. Prices even for the more mature trees and plants are rather reasonable as well. They do offer delivery but that's going to hit you hardest in the wallet. The staff is hit or miss, you'll either get someone who is friendly and helpful or a complete snob. This is a great place to come for plants since they seriously have nearly everything and recommended. I just wish they were closer to where I live. read more

This place is a must go-to if you are in the market for any type of plant for your garden. Huge selection of shrubs and trees. They have many perennials to choose from and an extremely knowledgeable staff that roams the grounds with clipboards to assist in plant selection. They have a small area with some peacocks and turkeys that the kids love. Inside they sell garden supplies and have a really eye catching supply of gifts. read more

I was very disappointed by the way we were treated when we went to the nursery to look for plants. We intended to purchase a number of items, but employees seemed to resent us walking around and looking at the displays. Very confusing and contrary to the beautiful setting. I suggest finding a nursery who cares about the customer experience. read more

We recently went in search of a new tree to replace an old dying cedar on our backyard. It needed to be on the larger, more mature side in order to fill that gap that was created so we went on a hunt visiting nurseries near our residence on Shelter Island and the North Fork. After 3 attempts we hit the jack pot at Verderber as they frankly have or can source just about anything you need from their over 180 acres of gardens. We were consulting a gentleman walked us around the immediate area to discuss and point out different options when we landed in front of a 15 ft. Japanese Maple that stole our hearts. He was not sure of its variety so he called in the owner's daughter Mary, who took over from there, showed us a few more options and then we arranged to buy and have it planted. Having seen other prices on trees, this was reasonable for their product. Delivery and installation run a little on the high side but of course we wanted it done right and a guarantee that comes along with it. We couldn't be there the day it was delivered so the owner John, who delivered and planted the tree himself Face Timed us so we could discuss the location and positioning. We couldn't be happier with the results and the personal touch. read more

This nursery is the best of the 10 or so I've hired over the years. They landscaped my entire yard and pool area in 1.5 days last fall. I watched in amazement as my half acre went from a scrubby sand dune to a lush oasis filled with flowers right before my eyes. I forgot to write a review then but had to make a point to write one this year as every single plant came back, as beautiful or more so then when it was put in. This is the third home I've landscaped and usually spring is for filling the holes of plants that didn't make it through the winter but this year, all I've done so far is weed twice. A beautiful nursery but I walked in there on a quiet weekday and was the only customer, only to be ignored by all three employees who were engrossed in a conversation about someone having crashed their father's Lamborghini. My wife and I searched high and low to landscape our house in Westhampton and spoke to several landscapers and nurseries. John Sr gave us the attention and guidance we needed, his proposal made sense for the property layout, and he delivered exactly as promised. He also was available to come back to spray for anti deer repellant and desiccant winterization, and stood by his warranties for the few plants that could not withstand the harsh ocean conditions. We were very satisfied with Verderber Nursery, after dealing with lots off subcontractors on a new home who promise the world and never show up, it was a pleasure to see Vanderber's truck show up in front of our house with all the trees and shrubs ordered, on time and with a full and reliable crew to do the install in just one or two days. The pricing was also extremely competitive. They were great to work with, and I give them 5 stars, and would not hesitate to recommend them to you. read more

My husband and I own a very small home and property in Water Mill. We wanted to have a new landscape design. When you have a small property in the Hamptons, it is difficult to get anyone to bother to look at the property let alone actually take on a job this small. Not true for the Verderber Nursery. A few years back, we had the good fortune of meeting the Verderber sons, Joe and John, when buying firewood. John, Jr. made a delivery to our home and we were asking about landscape designs and he said he would be happy to draw a design for us and said to contact him when we were ready. Se we did. We called Verderber's in the spring and made an appointment to meet with John, Jr. Best decision we ever made! John, Jr. came to our house and took pictures and measurements. He then drew a beautiful landscape design for our small yard. He drove us all around the nursery so we could pick out trees and plants. Once our final decision was made, he and his crew (who are all wonderful) arrived at our home and transformed it in a single day! We were so pleased with the design that we hired him again to design our backyard makeover. Again, they did not disappoint. John, Jr. is a very talented and skilled young man who we would recommend to anyone. I gave him a budget and he was able to transform our lovely, small yard into a beautiful, cozy and comfortable property. My point about Verderber Nursery is that no matter how big or small your job may be, they have the knowledge, skill and expertise to create a beautiful landscape for you.
