We love Polak Farms. Amazing people and incredible produce! We have been vegetables from them for years and can't say enough good things.

You can walk across the fields, picking at your perusal without really bumping into anyone. Pumpkins will run 79c per pound but no entry fee required! This is the farm that used to do the "all you can carry" but things have obviously changed in 2020 and dogs are also no longer allowed. Now that we're all upset; we know why it's a 3 star review. The plot is huge and goes on forever. Even through covid; family's flocked to the farm to pick up their pumpkins & hay stacks. We walked through with masks even outside and at a 6ft distance. The disappointment this year was the crop. It took forever (even though we hit the farm first week of October) to find a pumpkin that wasn't already rotting. Something is either in the water; like they drowned or animals ate them or too much hand sanitizer! I have no idea but as we turned them over they had holes & dings, cuts and sad spots all over. We accumulated a bunch of pumpkins all different colors which was nice that they have an assortment of gourds and textures. Damaged or not we picked what we could. Some rotted within a week from too much damage but the pics were fun to take and my mom actually enjoyed trying to find one that wasn't gashed. Lol. The little things in life actually just made me feed back that 4th star.

I brought my niece and nephew, and we easily had one of the funnest afternoons! The Barnyard Adventure is a paid area ($28.95 per person on weekends), but with eight acres packed full of things to do, it's worth every penny. To put the size in perspective ... it's like exploring six football fields lined up together! The highlights for the kids included getting up close with a variety of farm animals, a trike track, sports zone, and multiple playgrounds, pig races, a musical hayride ... there truly is something for all ages. The atmosphere is lively, especially with those pig races and musical hayride tours. My niece and nephew were totally engaged from start to finish. There are plenty of food stands throughout the property with the classic farm favorites. Apple cider donuts (my personal fav), popcorn, ice cream, and coffee stands for the grown-ups. Speaking of adults, a huge bonus is the vineyard right on the property. I treated myself to a glass of rosé to enjoy while the kids played, which was a nice addition. It does get busy, but the whole setup is well organized that it does not feel too crowded. Barnyard Adventure is one of those rare places that charms both kids and adults, making it a perfect fall or weekend family destination. I can't wait to come back next year for more memories (and donuts) with my niece and nephew!!

With access to leave and come back, which we loved, we enjoyed hayrides WITH a singalong! Animals, a lot of games, bounce pad and more. Everything was super clean and exactly what you think a farm should be hahahh. The workers were all sweet and kind. We did enjoy a cup of there chocolate chip cookie. Very good. You can bring in picnic food if you wish, but they had hot dogs and basics to purchase as well as a small farm stand in the front. I would highly recommend for families with children of various ages but more geared toward 10 and under. Cant wait to go back again this summer.

Have been back a few times since. Once pulled in off the road... its such a lovely country farm with a big enclosed farm stand. Outside find lots of cheerful displays of seasonal farm items. Hay, tractors, pumpkins when in season, flowers and more. They have a nice selection of their own grown fruit and vegetables and carry other local farms produce as well. They have small signs clearly stating local, or "our own" which are always a treat to have direct from the farm. Helen's makes pies too. It's also nearby Brierrmere's down the block. The night before Thanksgiving, Helen's offered an alternative option to the long lines for pies. In summer I once tried a mixed berry pie. This time tried an apple and pumpkin. This was the year for less baking and smaller lines... this made it easy. Much appreciated. Pies seemed not too homemade. Crisp sliced apple with the same gel like cinnamon on most of the apple pies out here. Not too homemade tasting. Seemed more commercial frozen and bake. So for true homemade pies, try nearby Junda's or Briermere. For an ok assortment of grab and go pie, this worked. The lady's are sort of pleasant but leaning more toward efficient and courteous. Not the warmest vibe here on different visits. No one seems genuinely friendly like you might want at a small town shop. Once asked about a pie, and one woman sort of mocked my question joking "its a fruit pie" slightly sarcastic. The cashier on a another visit wouldn't show a pie, by opening a box citing the owners rules. So took my chances. Lol. That shouldn't deter you, its clean, fresh and pretty to look at. A nice stop off when touring at the beginning of the North Fork.

There is a fee to get in which includes many things depending on the package you choose. As 2 adults with no children, the cheapest package included more than we would have taken advantage of, as we only went for the apple picking and to get some snacks. One of the things we really like about Harbes, is that in your price of entry you are given small bags to pick apples. Other places charge an entry fee and then a fee for the weight of the apples you pick. Since our main purpose was to pick apples, we were a bit disappointed at the selection that was available. There were 4 kinds of apples available to pick. One of them was only a row or two and every apple on the trees was rotten which then left us with only 3 kinds to choose from. We walked the rows and then took the tractor ride out to the further rows but selection was still scarce. I think the thing that made us question the most, is that we were driven around to the back rows and passed a TON of rows with trees that were ripped off and they had the biggest and best looking apples on them. All of the closed off rows said they weren't ripe, but the apples on those trees in comparison to the ones we were able to pick were triple the size. All in all, it's a good experience, many photo worthy spots but probably best if you had children as a lot of the activities are geared for kids.

Despite going during peak fall season for apple picking, they have really done a great job to make the whole getting in and out MUCH easier. Biggest gripe is that it feels a little pricey for the tiny little bag they give you for picking. Apple variety was quite good and the staff gave plenty of helpful tips and directions to find the best apples in the orchard. Despite hwo busy it was, it still didn't even really feel TOO crowded just with how large the space is. The place also has options for food, wine, pumpkin picking, a corn maze, kids activities and of course apple cider donuts that can't be missed! This place may have singlehandedly renewed my faith in Long Island apple picking.

The store is not well-lit though it's a barn so take it with a grain of salt. They have some unique items if you take a look. Came here last year during the pandemic after Mother's Day weekend, there were plenty of plants and vegetable plants to choose from. Guess not a lot of people came to buy plants last year so we got a unique items last year including black cherry tomatoes, yellow watermelon, various types of lavenders, and bunch of other plants. We took a chance on a dried up banana tree that was for $10 and gave it as a gift as well as the other items we brought ($4 each, I believe). The tree survived. It's currently thriving and we are waiting for the tree to produce bananas. Last year and this year they also had baby chicks in the greenhouse. It's makes my day to see the chicks and you know it's Springtime. We went again this year after Mother's Day weekend and there were a few places and vegetables available. I picked up lavender grotto ($5), citronella ($5), and some succulents ($10). No dying or last leg plants this year. The choices were more limited since folks came out to buy the fruits and vegetables early this year now that places are opening up again. Guess we need to go early.
