Eric of Stacks heating and Air conditioning first came to my house in 2013. He said it might be late but my A/C was not working and it was August. Eric the owner showed up at 9:00 PM on a Thursday night and was able to fix my A/C and get it functioning again and diagnosed the issue as plugged condenser drsin lines and low freon. Eric and his wife Paige worked with my home warranty to get a replacement condenser and had it fixed in a little over a week. Since then Eric has replaced all my old duct work in my attic, replaced a furnace and added a larger return to make my house efficient and comfortable both summer and winter. I recommend Stacks to everyone that I can if they have issues or need some work done on their HVAC systems in their homes. Eric and Paige are a small family owned business and the craftsmanship and prices have beaten any and all estimates that I have received from other companies. I trust Eric and the guys that work for him.I trust them to do a great job, not destroy my house with a huge mess and to arrive on time when they say they will be there to start the work. Trust Stacks for your next A/C and Heating project. I don't use anyone else. read more

Eric seems to be out of business at this time. No answer at work and the cell phone is not in service. He has been an honest person and the work is fine. read more

If i could give a negative Star i would! I waited on them all day and at 3:00 i received a TEXT from them Simply saying "Your Appointment has been Cancelled". I called that number and no calls were accepted. I called another number for them and the guy that answered was extremely rude. He eventually told me their truck broke down. Well, that sounds like a problem alright but no reason for him to be rude to me. He refused to give me his name & he hung up on me. read more

Stacks AC owner Eric is a crook. He charged me $900 to add freon and clean condenser. The Freon leaked out in less than 2 weeks. He then tried to sell me a $5000 new AC and said he would credit my account for the $900 because he sent out an incompetent technician. 2 other AC companies said he cheated me And he did not clean the condensers and should have know the AC would not hold freon. Eric the owner promised he would send me at at least half the $$ back. We spoke 10 times. He Lied. He kept all the money saying he didn't have it. What does that tell you? He has to do home warranty work to just survive. He is a crook. Run. Hire a competent company who has knowledge. He is dishonest, and does not know AC work. read more

Eric at Stacks Heating & Air Conditioning came to me via our Home Warranty. He was very professional and explained the problem with my a/c very clearly. The warranty company did not cover everything, but Eric worked with me to make sure I understood what was needed. His team was clean and timely in their service. Overall a great experience. read more

It's hard to give a rating when they never showed up. I filed a claim on Wednesday with my home warranty company for an A/C issue and it was assigned to Stack's, who I called on Thursday when they didn't call me to set up a time. I was told Eric would arrive between 3-5 pm on Friday. At 4:30 i checked in with their office and was told it would be closer to 6:15. At 8:00 pm there was no answer at the office but the greeting left an additional phone to call. I called it and that turned out to be Eric's cell number. He said he didn't know I was on his call list for that day. He promised to be there the next morning (Saturday) between 9-10 am. At 10 am I left him a voicemail and text message. I didn't hear back from him by noon, so I called Home Warranty and got my claim switched to another HVAC company, which by the way, called me on Monday morning and showed up the SAME DAY. Stack's needs to find a way to stick to a schedule and live up to their commitments. And when something happens to cause a delay, inform the client! read more

We found Stacks on Yelp & decided to give them a call for a 2nd opinion. They sent Eric over within 2 hours (which was at 7pm on a Friday night). Eric took his time to take the system apart & get to the inside before he gave us a recommendation. He was awesome! He found no obvious source of a leak. He let the coils thaw, filled with freon & stop leak, checked the filter, cleaned the outside unit & made some recommendations to get better air flow. We are back in business! Sure beats the $7k for the whole new unit the other company insisted we needed even though they didn't even look inside the unit. We may have to replace a valve or weld a copper down tube where we suspect a small leak may be, and we will definitely be using Stacks for that work & any future A/C work we need. Highly recommended! read more

Stacks came out to fix my ac unit, charged us over $800 for supposedly cleaning and 6 lbs of cooler. How can you put cooler into a unit with a broken coiler Then they come back and try to charge me retail (I went thru American Home Warranty) to fix it Never gave me a written estimate for anything Warranty company was no help either. Cant believe they put the cooler in knowing the unit was broken read more

My warranty company took advantage of me! The warranty company has been fired and Eric with Stacks is now my one and only A/C Guy! Honesty, I would rather pay him 2X to get better service but I don't need to. Honest work, fair prices and he clearly knows what he is doing. read more

Eric and his team have replaced 2 furnaces and so far 1 condenser for us. I am still new to Houston, but I am convinced it eats HVAC systems! They are always running, and ours were SUPER old so I guess we were luckily they were working at all. We had a few hiccups with the install, but nothing earth shattering. The reason I am writing this review is because of Eric's unwavering commitment to his customers. During and post installation, he always came by (often late in the evening and on super short notice) to make sure I was satisfied with the work and the systems' performance. In the dead of a Houston summer when every HVAC system in town is failing, it is nice to know that your service company is not going to drop the ball on you and your sweltering home. read more

What amazing customer service, and even though it was the hottest day of the year... They still came out late at night and took care of business..!i would recommend them any day..! And they won't rip you off. read more

Do not use Stacks Heating and Air. My husband has 26 years HVAC experience but is unable to fix our AC due to a warranty. Mr. Stacks shows up 4 hours late with very few tools. He charged us our $60 deductible and said he would return with tools. RED FLAG - What repair man shows up to a job without tools? He asked that I call back tomorrow to reschedule. The following day I called and schedule for Friday service between 12 and 2. I received a voicemail just before 2pm stating he would be late. I called at 5:45 and he said he had to reschedule. After my frustration he said he would come now. It is very difficult if not impossible to find a leak in the dark. We settled on Saturday at 12 noon for the repair. I called him at 12:15 to see if he was on his way. My number and my husband's number have been blocked. $60 dollars is no big deal but time lost and service mean the world to me. I have notified the warranty company, my bank, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the BBB. read more

If you are looking for an honest company to do quality work, call Stacks. They went above and beyond from start to finish. I cant say enough nice things and Eric stands by his word. Very hard to find a company like this! 6 stars if I could. read more

My furnace caught on fire over the winter and therefore my A/C didn't work when the weather got warmer. I have two A/C units, one for upstairs and one downstairs. The downstairs unit had been inoperative for a few years, but since the upstairs unit worked it didn't bother us too much. We had actually tried to get the downstairs one replaced before, and the guy totally screwed us over - fixed it, then it would break, then he needed another part that was a little more expensive... Anyway, I ended that cycle and we just didn't get it fixed because I didn't want to put more money into it. Then this summer I called out five companies to give me quotes, the first four were pretty big and well-known and all of them gave me varying and conflicting reports on my system. The cheapest was $7700 and just involved replacing the furnaces, the most expensive was over $20000 and involved replacing everything, including my ducts. They all examined my systems, told me various things (like telling me that they no longer made the freon for one of my units, so it had to be replaced) and, for the most part, being generally condescending. I was considering giving my business to the guy who was most polite, when I decided to look on Yelp and see what my fellow Yelpers recommended. Yup, should definitely have checked Yelp, first. So I called Stacks and Eric came out the next day. He was even early and I missed him because I was getting a quote on landscaping and left my phone inside. He was nice enough to come back a bit later and checked out my system. Now get this, he was the ONLY one to actually try and turn the dang things on! Apparently, the downstairs unit that had been out of commission for years had been tampered with. Something was unplugged and a very basic part had been taken. It was the kind of thing that, I feel, if you were an actual hvac person, you should have noticed. Instead, those previous four hvac techs were screwing with me. Eric was able to get it started, he even added some freon (because, apparently it wasn't discontinued after all and he had it on hand) and easily diagnosed the problems with my units. Turns out I didn't have to replace the entire units at all, just a few parts. He was able to get both of my systems up and running with no problems, for literally thousands of dollars less. The best part of it was that he was totally honest with me and didn't try to take advantage of my ignorance like those other shysters did. My a/c has been running nice and cool for over a month now! He also installed the Nest thermostat I got from Reliant for signing up for some plan or another. (When I asked the other guys about installing it one of them told me I would have to buy a new one because the ones Reliant sent out wouldn't work with my system.) Anyway, if you want someone honest who won't take advantage, plus does an amazing job, call them! read more

We had an awesome experience with Stacks Heating & AC. They not only replaced our old and broken furnace, but they did an amazing job updating the ductwork in our nearly 30 year old home - which was not an easy task. Eric is knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful! He and his guys did a great job and handled our home with care! We would highly recommend Stacks Heating & AC to anyone looking for a reliable and reasonably priced HVAC company! read more

They fixed my problem quickly, and kept the bill quite reasonable. Eric (owner?) is trustworthy and keeps his word.

If I could give a zero I would. They installed a fan/motor on a/c improperly and it subsequently broke. They are accusing my husband of tampering with the unit, instead of owning up to their poor workmanship, that was verified by two different air conditioning companies. Now I've been waiting for a new unit from warranty company for 17 days in the heat of summer. They claim they are a christian company, I don't think so, they are simply CROOKS that pass off their shoddy work for good money and fail to accept responsibility. If they gave away free a/c and paid my electric bill for life, I wouldn't accept it. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE, they are straight up thieves! Additionally, my indoor temp has stayed pretty much at 87 which I believe directly affected one of my rescued beagles, who unfortunately DIED unexpectedly last week. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! Furthermore, a bad review will get you not an apology but a nasty note to remove the review and an accusation of slander. I cannot stress enough, DO NOT USE THEM! read more

I found Stacks after ARS / Rescue Rooter Houston tried to rip me off. Eric was able to come out on New Years Eve but he found out that the part RR said was bad was in perfect working order. Instead, he replaced the ignitor for 1/4th the cost of the estimate from the other guys. The heater is working great and I saved a ton of money. Hopefully I won't have to call him again, but I wouldn't hesitate if my heater goes out again. read more

I do not normally write reviews, however in this case I felt that it was a must. Today I had an instance where another largely known A/C company came to my home for a "routine" system check, and though granted a few issues were found they ended up wanting to charge us over $13k. On top of that they left my home with my A/C unit completely powered down without letting me know or a clue as to how to turn it back on. I happened upon Stacks when looking for a second opinion & I am SO GLAD that I did!! Stacey was so helpful over the phone & Eric was at the house (after hours at that) with all of the necessary repairs completed in under 90 minutes flat. Did I mention that he did so for less than 4% of the other company's "bare minimum" quote? Honesty, courtesy, professionalism... these are only a few words to describe this company. Quality customer service is so hard to find these days, but for as long as we live in their service area.. Stacks Heating & Air will be the only company that we will use for our A/C needs. We cannot thank you enough Stacks!! read more

I rarely leave negative reviews and try to find the positive attributes of most businesses. Unfortunately I can't do that with Stacks. Via Home Warranty of America I requested service on my heater. I was given an appointment window of 1 - 3 pm. The technician didn't arrive until between 4:30 and 5:00 and seemed to be unaware of the appointment time. I had to leave but my fiancé stayed behind to keep me posted. Long story short, the technician couldn't find the issue (furnace would not cut on) and reported that "rodents had chewed through wiring." Since I had pest control techs on site I asked them to check for rodent infestation. None (which I already knew). I called Stacks and asked the technician what he saw. His answer: he couldn't visualize the wiring but guessed that it had to be rodents. There were also issues with the tech saying my thermostat was wired incorrectly (it wasn't) but I wasn't happy that he had guessed that the wiring was chewed without visualization. I contacted HWA again and they sent another company. The problem: a loose connection at the site of the furnace, fixed with a simple jiggle of a wire. My thermostat was also replaced and the heater is now working fine. I was fairly certain that rodents were not the problem, but I'm glad the pest control tech was there to verify that fact. All's well that ended well, but I could have spent untold $ if I had listened to and believed the tech from Stacks. Never again read more
