A pretty big store, but prices were not that good. I don't mind paying more for well curated items, but this was your regular junk priced higher than it should be (a small used picture frame for $8). There are lots of good thrift stores in Escondido without going here! Service was ok with me, though heard them being rude to another customer. That said, I'm sure they get a lot of people trying to negotiate prices and that can get tiring. read more

The thrift store employees let me haggle the prices down until I got the items I wanted for less than what I would have paid on ebay. Most stores don't let you do that, usually the price is the price. Haggling is sometimes fun, as is getting a deal. I plan to be back. read more

This is a fairly nice thrift store that occupies a half dozen connected storefronts on South Escondido Blvd. It is well laid out with merchandise separated by type. Clothing occupies a large area on the northern end. Prices seem reasonable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Street parking only. read more

I like this shop, and bought all sorts of items. furnitue, oldies, clothes, hats, quilts. etc. Very friendly people. I also donate things to the shop. It's worth a visit. I got grand father clock there. they said it did not work. But, when I got it home it works. Got 2 of those. read more

This is a surprisingly large thrift store, with a little of everything from the usual clothes and books to furniture and housewares, with a variety of interesting decorative items. In fact, there are so many things in this store, that there isn't much room to walk around. Some garments are a little out of order (I was looking for sports bras and found them in 3 very different racks!), so be sure to look at several racks if you're looking for something specific. So-so prices, but I did find things that I was happy to trade for my money. I'll definitely stop in again when I'm in the area. read more

My favorite thrift store in Escondido. Betsy and the rest of the employees are very friendly. They have 50% sales fairly often, and you can get some great bargains. It's also a good place to find vintage or art pieces occasionally. They get donations of breads, cakes, bagels, etc. from local grocery stores for the patrons to take. You just need to donate a little bit to the food bank, which I am totally behind. I've found many things for costumes and parties here over the years. read more

Dropped by with my son's girlfriend yesterday for the first time. It is a lovely, well-organized shop with friendly staff. I read other reviews about high prices, but this shop is in line with the prices elsewhere. Clothing was half price and they had lovely items, but I no longer buy without trying clothing on. Alas, they have no change room probably because of the huge problem with theft facing all thrift stores. This shop carries housewares, sewing and knitting items, some furniture, clothing, handbags, jewelry, books and more. Worth the time to stop by. Better than expected. read more

Great stuff but most of the employees were not wearing their mask properly. The two ladies at the front had their masks way below their nose. Even when checking out customers (who were all wearing masks) the lady at the register was talking to customers with her mask down to her mouth. read more

It is closed and I miss it so much. I have purchased so many items here. I always check in to see what items have come in. The person in charge is a real nice woman. She is very reasonable. I have dropped off so many beautiful things myself. I only donate to them. I haven't bought clothes even though I have donated so many awesome shoes and clothes to them (Calvin Klein etc). The housewares section is where you will find me. Take your time and browse. I am looking for a lace tablecloth and can't wait till they open. Well organized. Like all thrift stores, this one has a ton of clothes. The kids clothes are in nice shape, but they don't have many toys, and I can't say I've ever seen kids books here. This SVDP location always seems to have a lot of medical equipment. I've seen everything from crutches and potty chairs, to motorized wheel chairs and hospital beds. The people who work here are really nice and will go out of their way to help you. They will deliver to the local area for a small fee, so snag up that couch or the elliptical you have your eye on. Insider tip. Don't forget to check out the parking lot in the back, it's not actually full of parking spaces! Instead you will find outdoor items like bikes, surf boards, exercise equipment, garden tools, patio furniture, and a whole slew of other goodies. A terrible experience. I drove over an hour north to come to their "blowout book sale EVERYTHING $0.50" , or at least that is what their online advertisement claimed. When I arrived they also had a big bright sign for this sale on their front door. I spent over 2 hours looking through about 5 full aisles of books. Within that time I had gathered well over 30 books. As I was ready to make my purchases at the register I was told that each book was priced about $6-12 EACH. I go to thrift stores for books often and this pricing alone for USED books is a total scam. They proceeded to tell me that only a very small UNMARKED table of books out the BACK DOOR of there store was apart of the $0.50 sale AND that if I wanted to look through them I would have to come back in 3 days to do so because they were closing. Note that this was after I had expressed that I had driven over an hour for this sale and would now be leaving with nothing. Aside from the blatant online false advertisement what upset me the most from my entire experience was that both women working the register had no sympathy for my case and even talked to me like I was idiotic for even assuming that the books I wanted to buy were on sale even though all there bookshelves were labeled with "all books 50% off SALE" but not a single book was marked with a price. After calmly stating my argument they shooed me and my sister out the store and refused to show any sympathy for our case, not even a "I'm sorry for the inconvenience". Both VERY rude women, but after reading the other comments I guess this behavior isn't only exclusive to me. Also note that while I was at the register there was also another elderly couple who were making the same argument about the misleading book sale who also had received the same horrible attitude and left with nothing. As for pricing, they were trying to sell an item of IKEA furniture for $20 more than the retail price, I would know this because I own the exact dresser. This is absolutely absurd considering they brand themselves as a thrift store but in reality are just selling overpriced used junk. I am 23 years old and consider myself to be very level headed during frustrating moments. I have never once written a review about any establishment before; however, after having such a terrible experience I had to write a warning. read more

So they get stuff donated to them, correct ? So why is everything so expensive ? It seems that the persons that go there to shop are low income ppl like myself, looking for affordable stuff. You won't find that here anymore. I started stopping by here years ago. Then a new manager took over and all the prices were increased. The lady that is there on Saturdays is "Betsy", (I believe). She is horrible. Only friendly to her staff and some customers, others she will snub or worse. She in my opinion is racist. If you are brown she will treat you even worse. There is no haggling over a price for something with her, if she doesn't care for your face. I know it has happened to me. My other concern is the "free" pantry food they get, if it is given to them for free in order to help ppl in the community, then why are you coerced into giving a "donation" for it ? That is sooooo wrong, and obviously another way the store is making money on the poor. I am not sure that it can actually be a non profit store at this point. Maybe take out the "religious" affiliation in the name of the store. This used to me my favorite place back in the 80s-90s when there were several thrift shops (now all in 1) and it was Elizabeth Hospice. This place is over priced on dated furniture. The clothes are priced fine. We used to be able to park in the back of the shop and walk in the back- now the back looks like someone unloaded a dumpster. The folks in the back of the store are not the nicest, prices are not listed (make them up as they go) and it appears to be a haven for low lifes. read more

This thrift store was a lot better when it was run by Elizabeth Hospice. The staff varies between loudmouths who broadcast their personal business all over the store and snooty volunteer types. The stuff is pretty much what you find anywhere however, the place is pretty clean and organized. The prices are crazy high, you can find stuff for almost the same price at Ross, sometimes Ross might cost less. And don't dare find something without a price, some of the staff act like you are trying to steal something from them. It is really sort of the other way around. read more

Disappointing how the Deacon Guy treated a lady next to me re: refund for piece of junky furniture that she bought thtd did not fit in her apartment, Old gal 60's yrs of age. I like to see a hole lot less petty shop keeper business man attitude. Rude about "our Policy" you should know better, etc.---If we wanted crumby business in town, we have all the other low end stores. Shop local, only if there is respect and good business practices, other wise there is Wal-Mart and a new and better church and charity. Don't waste your time trying to call them. For some reason they don't answer the phone. I have tried numerous times to call during business hours but no one answers. Plus they don't have an answering machine (even tho they sell them) so you can't leave a message. Frustrating! read more

HANDICAP HOSTILE! We tried to bring our disabled daughter into the store in her stroller (which is her wheelchair) and they kicked her out since they have a "no stroller policy". The store manager said "Someone can wait outside with her, because if we let one stroller in, we have to let them all in". WHAT?! They need a new policy!!! been to this place many times over the years, since its down the street from the donut corner, best donuts ever! the place is like most thrift stores, hit and miss. its an older joint, jam packed w stuff. ive picked up good books, some cool shirts in the past, but nothing last time i went. but i was there thrift shopping w my nieces, and they found stuff they liked here too. we had fun scavenging the racks, and i walked out spending less than 45 buck for 3 of them, they must of had 15 or 16 items between the 3 of them, not bad eh. read more

This Thift Store lost my business when they posted signs stating no strollers in the store. As a new mom with a two month old the lady at the front counter advised me I could park my stroller in the conner. So am supposed to carry my baby and or the car seat and my huge diaper bag while I shop? I do think so. I've felt so discriminated. Like I was going to shovel clothes in the stroller? Love this store! The women and men who run/work at this place are awesome and always willing to work with you on prices. The real gems are out back - like "picking" - unpriced, gotta sort through alotta junk - but you can find that one great deal if persistent.
