During the cold winter months, I found myself dreaming about summer adventures. This year, the 4th of July also happened to fall during America's 250th birthday celebration, and I wanted to spend the holiday somewhere I'd never been before. I'd heard great things about St. Michaels from several people over the years, so I decided it was finally time to see what all the hype was about for myself. As a solo traveler, I was looking for a hotel that wouldn't break the bank, would keep me close to all the fun in St. Michaels, but not so close that I'd be listening to the hustle and bustle all night long. As a forty-something adventurer, I appreciate a little peace and quiet on vacation, too. Enter St. Michaels Inn. Booking online was quick and easy, the rates were very reasonable, and the amenities checked all the right boxes for me: a seasonal outdoor pool, complimentary continental breakfast, and a location just minutes from downtown St. Michaels, Oxford, Easton, and all the adventures I had planned. I pulled into the hotel just a few minutes after the 3:00pm check-in time on the Thursday before Independence Day and was greeted by a friendly staff member who had me checked in and on my way to my room in just a few minutes. My first impression was a good one! The room was clean, bright, comfortable, and well maintained. The air conditioning worked beautifully, which became increasingly important as temperatures climbed well over 100 degrees during my stay. I was also lucky enough to have a first-floor room with parking literally just steps from my door, making it incredibly easy to load up for a day of adventuring! As the weekend went on, I found myself appreciating the location more and more. It was the perfect home base! I could easily bounce over to downtown St. Michaels, spend time exploring Oxford, make a quick trip to Easton, and then retreat back to a quieter spot at the end of the day without fighting the congestion of staying directly in town. Honestly, I loved the location so much that I was already thinking about my next trip before this one was even over. Another unexpected hero of the weekend? The 24-hour ice machine. During a record-setting heat wave, I made more trips for ice than I care to admit. It was always stocked, easy to access, and made filling my water bottle before heading out each morning incredibly convenient. My only real disappointment was the complimentary continental breakfast. I checked it out on my first morning hoping to fuel up before a full day of adventures. There was a nice selection of fresh fruit, which I appreciated, but beyond that it was mostly breads, bagels, English muffins, muffins, and the usual spreads for the toaster. If you're expecting a hot breakfast, I'd plan on eating elsewhere. Thankfully, St. Michaels has plenty of fantastic breakfast options nearby, so this certainly wasn't a deal breaker. It just wasn't much of a continental breakfast in my opinion. Overall, I had a really great stay. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, budget-friendly hotel that gives you easy access to everything the Eastern Shore has to offer without placing you right in the middle of the crowds, St. Michaels Inn is an excellent choice! In fact, I enjoyed my stay so much that I'm already planning another trip back to St. Michaels...and I have a pretty good feeling I'll be staying here again! read more

I recently attended a scrapbooking event at the St. Michael's Inn. There were numerous issues all of which fell on deft ears. Our event leader made General Sales Mgr Frank aware of these issues, but instead of solving the issues Frank avoided our event leader like a coward. You need to bring back Margaret. Margaret was kind, courteous and visited our previous events to make sure everything was ok. If there was an issue, she handled the issue. Margaret had great customer service. Margaret valued her guests unlike you Frank. Frank couldn't even be bothered to dress like a professional. Frank made several errors with reservations and blamed the errors on his staff when the person who screwed up was Frank. Frank you text our event leader and stated you would not be renewing our contracts for 2027. You didtn't even have the courtesy to speak with her in person. You hid like the coward you are. Frank you are not Manager material. You should not be in the hospitality business. Frank you should be ashamed of how you treated our group and our event leader especially. You are Incompetent. You are a disgrace to the St. Michael's Inn. You should be Fired. read more

This place is showing its age despite some attempts to spruce it up. Our room seemed always damp. There were sewer flys and dirty. The staff seemed overwhelmed at check in. True, we were a large group, many arriving at the same time but they knew the group was arriving and could have prepared in advance. Many waited two or three hours for their room. read more

DO NOT waste your time ! Online pictures ARE NOT an accurate reflection of what the property actually looks like. Seems like the place hasn't been serviced in years ! Motel style. Receptionist kept insisting if we cancel we would have to pay $1,000+ for any other hotel in the area. We found one about 15 mins away for about $10 cheaper than this place and it was well maintained. After seeing how the outside of the property was kept we didn't even make it to see the room. read more

In two words: A DUMP! Dirty inside and out. Rusty stairs and rails outside. We had a room on the second floor abutting a convention hall. The hall was booked by a religious revival group. It must be said that I am not judgmental about the group and their rituals. However they were extremely noisy with singing music and hallelujahs etc. The ritual went on until 10:00 at night and started again in the morning. Without anger I went to the front desk to explain the situation and asked for them to reduce our two night payment. I received a definite "no". When I asked to speak to a manager she said there was no one. When I asked to speak to the owner I was also told that was not possible. All in all I strongly recommend no one to book there at any time. read more

Normally don't like to complain but this place is a dump. The floor was not vacuumed well, there was stuff smeared on the walls, our light switch was being held together with a green hair tie and the room did not feel clean. I would never stay here again, and if we didn't get in so late, I would have left the hotel completely. For 188$ a night I expect more. The staff was nice but they didn't do anything or apologize for our experience. Maybe when the remodel is done it will be better. read more

My husband and I stay here every time we visit St. Michaels. We love the pool and the rooms are comfortable. They actually have HBO and other amenities. The staff is nice and the hotel is clean and in good order. Free breakfast tastes great and the room price is VERY affordable. $180 for two nights. Super price for what you get. Nice place. read more

Took a trip down to St. Michaels for one night. We normally stay on Tilghman Island but decided to stay at the Inn this time. What a mistake. The location was excellent but then it's all downhill from there. The room was clean enough but definitely not sparkling. The check-in lady was okay but the man in the morning didn't seem to be interested in anything. The breakfast, this is where we speed downhill and crash into a wall! This is Sunday morning, I walk in to the breakfast room and see empty egg and sausage trays. Okay,I guess they are working on it. After about 10 minutes I decide to go into the lobby and ask. Three words from the man, "No eggs today". Alright, I'll make lemonade out of lemons, let me get a muffin. NOPE! These things were harder than a rock. Okay, let's try some toast, NOPE! The toaster looks like it has never been clean. Oh well let's do some coffee. NOPE! Pure mud. When I brought this to the attention of the man in the lobby, his response was, " Yea, it's from powder". And, I didn't even mention the odor the water in the room had. But to be fair, that could just be Eastern Shore water. Spend a little more and avoid this place. read more

This hotel is ok for one night maybe two, but if you plan on staying for an extended vacation in Saint Michaels, Maryland, I would go somewhere else. We were attending a wedding in Saint Michaels, and a good chunk of the wedding was staying here and we wanted to be close to family. The rooms are decent sized, but very outdated and a little shabby. We asked for extra pillows to which we were told they didn't have any more and the TV in the room tended to do cut out. Normally, a TV not working wouldn't bother me, but I have two small children and I was trying to keep them somewhat contained in this room. The free breakfast they offer is just above an elementary school cafeteria meal. Look, I'm not judging because I ate every morsel when I was in here. Note, I was also severely hung over both mornings. The parking here is good and you're very close to the downtown Saint Michaels Not a completely awful experience, but the next time I'm in Saint Michael, I will probably stay elsewhere. read more

Shabby room, old dirty looking carpet, loud AC and fridge that would wake us up at night, damp sheets from summer humidity, and flies in the room! Very basic breakfast. We had booked two nights, but left after the first one. The only positive thing was the friendly staff at check-in. The check-out person let us cancel the second night, but did not express any concern nor say sorry. read more

My niece got married in St Michaels and this hotel had a pool so thats why i chose it. The pool was spotless...i actually saw the guy checking the chemicals and cleaning it which made me happy I guess the room was cleanish... i wasn't concerned, but they have flies. I actually kept the tv on to attract them at night, and there were a dozen on the screen I understand nature, but i was told they have a problem by the front desk, yet there are no fly traps anywhere I just opened the blinds and there are dead flies on the air conditioner I do think there is a better option than ignoring it..., read more

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and during that time the garbage was taken out once, and the room wasn't cleaned and vacuumed at all. There was something on the sheets that made me break out in hives. I did get replacement sheets, but I had to put them on the bed myself. I had to go get more towels because the maid took the towels but didn't replace them. I was told that I signed a document stating we wouldn't get maid service due to guests not wanting people in their rooms. This should have been pointed out to me when we checked in. It wasn't stated when I inquired about housekeeping on the second day of our stay. I have never encountered this at any other hotel and this has been since Covid. I wish I had read the reviews before booking this hotel. If you are attending an event such as the Ironman Triathlon, book early so you don't have to stay at this place. Very disappointed in the service. The desk people were nice and that's the only good thing I can say about this place. read more

It's an old beat up Route 1 style motel. I don't know if it was built in the 1600's, but hasn't seen a remodel in a very, very long time. The walls are paper thin. I can hear the people in the room loud and clear. The breakfast my group paid for was pathetic: all the breads, bagels, and pastry are frozen and tasteless, juice is concentrate, instant coffee machine top is covered in dirt and grime. The fruit is the kind you buy in 5 gallon tubs at Costco and tastes like acid. Sausage is the cheapest frozen kind that u can buy. And the girl who setup this jailhouse breakfast bar has the nerve to put out a tip jar. All this motel cares about is the bottom line and fleecing guests for every penny. It's been a depressing experience. My toilet doesn't flush. You might be more comfortable sleeping in a tent. No king sized beds. read more

We were in town for a wedding and as the only "affordable" option we chose this glorified motel. The staff aside, do not stay here. It's a conference center that resembles the RoseBud Motel from Schitt's Creek and not in a cute ironic way. Bugs on the pillows, gum on the headboard, and a random girl banging on my door at 4:30 and 5am yelling "help", did not make me feel safe nor relaxed. We were made to book two nights even though we only needed one, so essentially we were paying $550 to stay one night here. The room was $275 A NIGHT!! I have stayed at The Ritz in some cities for less than this. I was absolutely shook. I know some people have reviewed this place as "fine" because they are here for a conference maybe one or two nights. Do yourself a favor and just spend the same amount if not a little more for a much more enjoyable stay. We checked out early and never looked back. read more

So... depending on which website you go to, this place has pretty good reviews and poor reviews. So the good: it's easy to find, very reasonably priced and I used a UV flashlight- room was sparkly clean. Staff was friendly and when we had a toilet problem, maintenance guy came out within 5 minutes. The breakfast was decent, it had your usual bagels, cereals, muffins, waffle maker, scrambled eggs and sauce along with drink choices. The bad: it is located right off the main road Route 33 so you are prone to traffic noise at times. The building is set up like a motel so no frills, you walk out the door and you are outside so there's no hall or anything to roam a bit and due to same reason (it's all one floor also) you didn't particularly feel safe to open the windows. The town with shops is a bit too far to walk, plus there are no sidewalks but it is literally 5 minute drive and there are plenty of free parking spaces. For the price and cleanliness, this place is a value if you are just looking for the necessities. 3/18/18 Price is good and although it's not walking distance to downtown St Michael's, it is still quite close, so I decided to come back and stay here. Room was neat and clean when we checked in. Noise level was still a factor, we stayed in a different room than last time, the walls must be quite thin. Major downfall was ZERO internet connection. Called the front desk hours later only to get "I don't know what to tell you, yes we are having internet connectivity problems." read more

Water smelled liked sulphur! The room smelled damp and musty. The pillows were awful on the bed, the air conditioner was very loud! We were either freezing or roasting! The bathroom was awful. BAIT AND SWITCH! Don't trust this place! We arrived at the St. Michael's Inn on November 8, 2024 and presented our printed confirmation for 2 rooms. We booked these rooms back in October directly from the inn's website. The front desk clerk told us there was a problem. When he stated that the price was wrong, we said we had confirmation numbers and had called the week earlier to confirm the rooms. Another employee (the manager?.....we do not know as he didn't introduce himself) arrived and began bellowing. He said he would not rent to us at the price on our confirmation sheet! He then told us we would have to pay a higher price if we wanted the rooms. He said the price on the website and the confirmation sheet were both wrong prices. Rather than take the responsibility for the apparently incorrect price on their website, he continued screaming at us that the price on our confirmation sheet was much too low and that we needed--and I quote--"to call his website's booking agency and fight this out." The confirmation we received is a legal, binding contract! My guess is that this Bait-and-Switch is a way to trick/scam senior citizens such as ourselves. My advice: Steer clear of the St. Michael's Inn. read more

We needed a place to stay overnight , not a resort , so St Michael's Inn was perfect!! It is an updated motel, cute design outside, and I loved that you park your car right outside your door. The room was comfortable , bed was comfy, maybe a pillow update would be good, and shower pressure fine, although I did not like the soap, but the towels were absorbent and thick and plenty of them. The room had all we needed, a table and two chairs, a frig, micro wave and coffee maker and a TV of course. There is also a pool which is a nice touch. The front desk staff couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. Due to covid their breakfast has been greatly changed but they are stuck with that for now. Still, they had delicious fresh oranges, yogurt and bars...we would def stay here again, the price is right and it's a cute comfy place just a mile from the middle of St Michael's. read more

Wow- and I don't mean Wow in a good way. Huge disappointment when I realized that I was charged $270.00 for a pathetic motel room. One star is too high of a rating for this dump. The shower water and the sink water have a sulfur smell - making it impossible to take a shower or brush your teeth. The walls are extremely thin- I was able to hear the word for word conversations of the people in the next room. Don't book a room at the St Michael's Inn- you will be very disappointed and out of a lot more $ than this place deserves. read more

This place is a craphole. But, you know it's a craphole going in. So it's really not a surprising disappointment... It's more like you thought you were making a mistake going in, and then you turned out to be right. So, for this, I give 2 stars. You probably should have just stuck with your hunch! BTW - There's actually really cute places for $250 - B&Bs and stuff - on the water(!!) - just up the road. Definitely check them out. It is worth the extra scratch to avoid this place. read more

The check in area is cute and clean. Then it just goes to s*** We stayed here for a wedding. As soon as we got to our door it was covered in dead bugs and there were cigarette butts right outside our door. It was straight out of a horror movie. When we got inside I let out a sigh of relief because the room looked clean. Well thats until you look too close. The bathroom had a dying cockroach on the ground. There was hair all over the bathroom floor. There was what looked like dried blood all over the wall. I took a wet tissue and easily cleaned it off. Bleh. Disgusting. Why am I cleaning my own room? You couldn't go barefoot in there. The shower was miserable. I'm pretty sure I have third degree burn. The pillows were the lumpiest things I've ever felt. The place is amazing and doesn't at all give the feel of a motel but rather that of a fancy hotel. The game room isn't too expensive and a lot of fun. Rooms are private and the cable channels rocks! My only complaint is that all of the gathering rooms (game room, breakfast room) were all RIDICULOUSLY COLD. Like 50' or colder kind of cold. Like seriously, where was the heat?! I should not be so cold that I feel the need to struggle to carry my breakfast back to my room. That's just ridiculous. Fix the heat. With that said, the employees are super nice and my fiancé and I had a wonderful experience! Price was right and the place was amazing! Well worth the visit and definitely would come back! read more

Awful all around. Where to begin? The night before I called to try to cancel the reservation as my spouse ended up in the ER after a car/bike accident. They said I could only cancel prior to 3 (the reservation actually said 6). It was 8 p.m. No exceptions were made, even though my spouse was on an IV drip at the time I called. Second, after getting an ok from my spouse that he would be ok if I traveled alone, I tried to check in at 3 p.m. - the ridiculously late time they start letting you in. The rooms were not ready. They would not be ready until 4. This from the establishment that had just dinged me on my reservation because I had not met the deadline. Third, the room cost me $200. It was a dump. The beds were below-average Motel 6 quality. The bathroom had pubes and head hair on the walls and floor and there were dirt marks. A simple run of the mop would have taken care of it. The tub had yellow discoloring. The room also smelled faintly of cigarette smoke despite being zoned as a NON-SMOKING room. The AC unit did not work as advertised. It would shut off randomly and turn on randomly without fail. The TV is set so that the highest level of volume is about a 2 on a normal TV. You simply cannot hear your show if you lay back on your bed (you have to lie on your stomach and face the TV). Trashy neighbors barged into their room next door at 2:15 a.m. with their rugrats zipping up and down the hallways like spawns of hell. You could hear everything. The walls are paper thin. Keep in mind that this is $200. TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS. Would not recommend. Would never go back. Would avoid at all costs. Would rather go to a dentist for back-to-back root canals after gouging my eyeballs out and dipping myself in a vat of boiling vinegar than stay here. Did I mention that it has a 1950s feel to it? It's so outdated, a pair of bell bottoms is more in mode. Avoid. read more

The most important thing to understand is that you get what you pay for. This place wasn't as bad as I had read but it definitely had its share of issues. The good: clean rooms, hot water, sizeable bed. Most of all, very kind and serviceable staff. Sometimes that's all you can ask for. When I'm on vacation (a short weekend getaway), I'm rarely in my room ever anyway so I don't need the Four Seasons. It's a cute inn and serviceable. Clean rooms/bathrooms and less than a 5 minute drive from town (which was awesome). It doesn't pretend to actually be in the town so I'm not sure what other people's complaints are. That being said here were my issues. The bad: Walls were thin. We could hear our neighbors. One thing if they're in the hallway, another thing if we're both in our rooms. Power went out Sunday morning (yes, really) at about 7 am. Apparently this was the entire block, though, so I can't blame them for that. However, when I asked when it would come back, they said they had no idea. Service means calling the electric company and at least getting an estimate. Even saying "within the hour" "by lunchtime" and "by the end of the day" allows people to plan accordingly. Instead, we just waited to see if it would come back after breakfast. Meaning, no coffee for breakfast, no toast...nothing that needed electricity. I had what was left of the eggs/sausage before power went out. Felt bad for those who showed up after me. All they could have was cold cereal. Finally, we just decided to check out, go into town and leave our stuff in the car w/o having to come back to the hotel. Electricity and water finally came back just as we were about to leave. I had already decided to skip the shower at that point (what choice did I have?) but brushed my teeth with bottled water. When we checked out, nothing more than an apology. I guess that would have to do. I think this location is solid and it definitely has potential if it just got a facelift to modernize it a little. St. Michael's is a cute town with not a lot of options for lodging. It also has a lot of meeting rooms for events. If it wasn't for the power going out, it wouldn't of been as bad as people said. Nice people, clean rooms, serviceable breakfast, that's all you can ask for sometimes. read more

Great value! Clean, quiet, updated recently. The bathroom and plumbing were excellent. The clean pool was a wonderful break from hot travel, The front desk folks were friendly and helpful. We had spent the previous night at a smelly, musty establishment in Cambridge MD, and this was the antidote with fresh and clean surroundings. It is a budget Motel, and you get more than you would expect at this price. We were there August 14, 2015. read more

This is a bare bones motel a mile outside of town. The rooms are dated, the beds are serviceable, and you can park your car right in front of your room. I found the room to be clean, the pool to be pleasant, and the staff to be helpful. Location was not conducive to a relaxing getaway: the hotel is right off the main drag and the only way to get in town is to drive or walk along the shoulder of a highway. Given that we were in town for a wedding over the Memorial Day weekend, prices for most lodging in town was exorbitant. And it was helpful for the bride and groom to find such an affordable option. The lack of choices in St. Michaels are disappointing in that you can either stay at a budget motel (which is the St. Michaels Inn) or spend $500+ night. read more

Wow! This place is equivalent to a Motel 6! However it cost 290.00 for one night for us to stay there! The front desk Staff were dead and too mean to lay down. We brought our small dog with us. So 40 dollars of the charge was for him. When we called to make the reservation we inquired about any discounts for Seniors or Military and Vets, they had none. We asked if we could have a early check in. They told us to check when we got there. We did, and a flat no we can't do it was the answer. Now the room.... It smelled like a sewer, the water was odd smelling as well. There was some sort of no removable cover on the bottoms of the shower. It was covering the filth under it. The bed sheets were very wrinkled. When you turn on the air conditioner it smelled like mildew. In general the room was not well Maintained. Moving on to the free breakfast. There was no one to ask a question about the foods. They had some sort of round disk that were blended egg, tasteless. French toast sticks that were microwaved so totally soggy and stale bran muffins. The coffee was awful, most likely because of whatever makes the water smell like a sewer. The on line price for this Inn was 150.00 a day from Traveladvisor, Booking.com and Price Line all had 150.00 as the price per night. We came home and checked again and it had not changed. But the desk clerk flat out told me when I asked why we charged this higher fate that he looked it up and their rate was the same as he was charging us. I have 20 years in hotel management and this was the worst place I've ever stayed in. Normally you can find something positive to say about any place you stay. This Inn is just horrible and the staff are clearly indifferent to their guest. I'd recommend staying in Easton MD, which is only about 7 miles away. They have many good quality reasonably priced hotels that are dog friendly. I did t know the area before going there or that's what I would have done. read more

I tried ranking zero stars but it wouldn't let me.. I cannot put into words the agonizing filth and disappointment of this establishment. Hearing "Best Western" I was thinking I could expect at least two star quality - not so much. I second the consensus of the "old" smelling rooms - more like rank, musky, humid and damp. Remnants of a "smoke all you want" mixed with old used washcloth - everything from the AstroTurf carpet to crusty tiles in the bathroom and ?clean linens felt soaked. Turning on the air conditioning does not help. We resorted to opening the window (backing up to someone's residence). That's not the half if it. Morning after we checked in - no water! And no apology! Left for 6 hours only to return without water! No working toilets once the water came back! Still no apology. Rude front desk staff, most likely frustrated by the sheer volume of complaints. Continental breakfast was underwhelming. Overall - fail. Poor service, filthy old rooms, no water (?? Wtf), and refusing to switch rooms to one with a working toilet? It's a wonder the building still stands. Pay the extra money and stay at a quality B&B.. It surely can't be worse. read more
