3.5/5 stars I've been here for both lunch and dinner, and overall both were delicious (*note, the word "overall". We'll revisit this in a bit) My first experience was for lunch where my mom and I began with the crab cakes. They were really good and were full of lump crab meat and not overly breaded. As an entree, the chicken sandwich was amazingggg! It was like an upscale version of "Dave's Hot Chicken" with the hot honey and cole slaw. I'm making it my business to return for lunch soon because the sandwich is truly that flavorful. Dinner: I brought my aunt here after raving about lunch. We began with the calamari (superb); it was accompanied by a sauce that's indescribable outside of "yummy". For her entree, she had the redfish with grits and enjoyed it. From the small bite that I sampled, I was a bit envious of how good it was. I, however, was not impressed by the steak I opted for. It had no flavor at all outside of charred and was not in the tiniest bit tender. The sides were also disappointing. The most lackluster mashed potatoes and bland broccolini. I probably could've made better myself. Dessert: my aunt and I had the crème brûlée and bread pudding and enjoyed them both. Moral of the story: everything I've had here so far is delicious except the steak. Don't waste your time or money on it; learn from my mistake. Everything else I've had was much better. The server we had during lunch was great, but my dinner visit server was not the best. She was not very attentive and also was not the most accommodating for my visually impaired aunt.

St. James is my absolute favorite restaurant on "date nights"! We've been going for the better part of a year and it truly never disappoints! I always get the same entree, but when you see the pictures, you will understand. The bone-in pork chop is a thick cut, topped with bacon jam and minced scallions. It is a melt in your mouth cut of meat and can be cut with a butter knife! It's that tender! Their au gratin potatoes are the perfect blend of cheese and cream served in your own cast iron crock straight from the oven. Grilled broccolini is served along side of this delicious masterpiece of an entree! He got the grilled redfish served over a bed of creamy cheese grits nestled in a tomato cream sauce that was excellent. Not too rich and not too overpowering. Once again the perfect blend of flavors all in one entree. Everything is grilled over an open flame enhancing the flavor of the dishes. The service is great! We've never had a bad time and the staff is friendly, helpful, and truly on point! Whether you sit at the bar or at a table, you will have the best service. It is more of an upscale menu but can be a casual environment. Kind of like 'Cheers' where everyone knows your name!

The St. James Restaurant in Thomasville, Georgia is a restaurant we have passed on countless trips from Tallahassee to Thomasville for a day of shopping and dining. Why we never stopped to enjoy this restaurant until recently, I'll never know. It's situated on US 319 before you actually reach the downtown Thomasville area. Most of our trips have centered around the Broad Street, Jackson Street, Remington Avenue, Smith Avenue, and US 84 shopping areas. This restaurant is completely modern and totally charming. When you enter the restaurant, you are immediately greeted by a bakery case that implicitly reminds you to make sensible choices to leave room for dessert! There is a full bar available and also seating at the bar for refreshments or dining or both. There is plenty of restaurant dining room seating in the main room and there's also a more private area which I surmise is used for the evening overflow of dinner or private functions. Our host and server both greeted us promptly and courteously. Servers are uniformed in jeans and white shirts, so the atmosphere is completely casual. My dining companion ordered the hot chicken sandwich, including a hot fried chicken breast, apple slaw, hot honey, pickles, on a brioche bun. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, including a herb marinated chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, truffle mayo on a brioche bun. Both sandwiches were served with fries, including pecorino, truffle, garlic, and herbs. The sandwiches and fries were delicious and served hot from the kitchen! Although the dessert case beckoned us, we had not saved room for dessert and because we were still doing additional shopping we were unable to keep desserts fresh in a very hot car on a hot summer day. This only reinforces our desire to return to this restaurant and perhaps just for the dessert course next time. What a lovely restaurant option in Thomasville. The sandwich options make a wonderful lunch with friends or family. We will certainly return to this restaurant again! Kudos to the owners who have found such a warm caring group of people to serve the Thomasville community!

This is the entrance and they have an assortment of phenomenal pastries made by the pastry chef.

We drove from Tallahassee and the food and service were top notch . Everyone was super friendly and its always reassuring to see the owners helping out. The ambiance is very modern chic. We sat at the bar and Tiffany was very sweet and informative and made excellent drinks The Oysters are super fresh, full of flavor and its always best when you get to pick where they come from. The Sticky Ribs were insanely good, definitely stole the show. The Fig And Duck Pizza was very outside of the box thinking and i love a chef that experiments with his menu. It was light and the flavors were subtle, definitely a great option for lunch but we wish we tried something more rich like the risotto. You must save room for dessert because The Bread Pudding was to die for so soft and fluffy not overpoweringly sweet. Overall, we fell in love with the food and excited to come back for more!

    Brussel sprouts and sticky ribs

Absolutely delicious. One of the best meals I've had in a while. The Brussels sprouts and sticky ribs were phenomenal. The scallops are to die for. The bread pudding was exceptional. The star was that spicy margarita. It was perfection. My new go to spot. Great job.

Ahh, St. James, what a wonderful surprise we happened upon. We were downtown for Victorian Christmas and knew finding anywhere to eat in that area would result in a multi hour wait. I asked one of the shop owners for a recommendation that was a little bit away from the craziness of the event and he recommended St. James. We were able to get a last minute reservation and off we went! Our server Kelly was so cute, she had the most charming personality and made sure to check on us often. The decor and atmosphere of St. James is BEAUTIFUL, we all ooh-ed and ahhh-ed when we walked in. We all got cocktails, a few appetizers and entrees. The standout dishes were the seafood risotto, everyone gushed over how good it was and the duck pizza. The fries get an honorable mention. This was definitely one of our favorite spots of our trip, we were so thankful for the kind local steering us to St. James!

My dining companion and I arrive for lunch on a Saturday right as the problem was opening at noon. We were immediately greeted and advised we could sit anywhere we wanted. Our server came and took drink orders and return. Returned to take our lunch order. We ordered the Boris Burger, 2 - 4 oz smashed burger patties, onion jam, cheddar, lettuce, garlic sauce, served with kettle chips. My dining companion ordered the Spiced Grouper Sandwich, including a nice side piece of grouper that was larger than the bun, lettuce, red onion, garlic sauce, bun, served alongside kettle chips. The meals were delicious and filling. With an ice tea the total was about $41. The server sent my dining companion home with the an iced tea to go. The food was promptly served. Plates were removed on a timely basis. It's a refreshing and cool spot to give one respite from the souther humidity and heat. A definite gem for lunch! This place is one of the very best restaurants I have experienced in my eastern travels. Check out…read morethe inventiveness of the menu and know that the chef delivers on each dish: beautifully presented with complex flavorings. All six dishes we got were great. If I have to name only one, it's the escargot! At first, I was nonplussed about the lack of cocktails, but got over that as soon our awesome waiter -- I think his name was Mark -- brought a tasty Japanese pale ale.

Imagine this: you decide to try out a wine bar for their charcuterie! You arrive and the storefront…read morelooks like a ABC store. "Okay, you think, maybe this is a hole in the wall." You sit down with a dear friend and order their charcuterie board. $28 dollars for a two-person meat and cheese board. You wait in anticipation for your charcuterie to arrive while sipping on a $7 dollar bottle of sparkling water (which you learn later sells online for $1-$4). After not too long (thankfully), your waiter brings you the worst charcuterie board in Tallahassee. You need a numbered list to describe how bad it is. 1. There is barely any food on the board. 5 types of cheese, 3 types of meat, two types of crackers, three fruits, and olives. Sounds like a lot, right? Nope. Everything resembles remnants of cheese, meat, olives, and fruit leftovers salvaged from the can. 2. Each cheese offering is 3-4 "elementary school pizza party" slices, where about three of the slices equated to a single slice on a regular charcuterie board. You barely get enough cheese between two people to form an opinion on the cheese's taste, let alone be able to use the cheese knife provided to you. 3. When asking about the minuscule amount of cheese (just in case there was a hiccup in the kitchen), the waiter tells you that everything is measured out by weight. Also proceeds to tell you a story that other guests have also asked why there is so little cheese as a humorous anecdote. Also tells you about the best cheeses that are not on your board. 4. You receive similar tiny amounts of meat, crackers, and fruit, including one (n=1) bruised and small sliced strawberry, eight to ten (n=8-10) grapes on a stem, and two (n=2) wafer-thin slices of apple (both of which are dipped into the olives' juices contained in the plastic black condiment cup). 5. The crackers are not homemade. There're not enough crackers for the little bit of cheese you do get. One of the two cracker types is fried and tastes a bit like old oil. 6. All meats are fatty deli-type meats. Awful. 7. One of your cheeses and one of your meats are spicy with no warning or offered substitutes. 8. Your 8-10 grapes are noticeably squishy, bruised, and old-looking. When asked about them, the waiter tells you they look that way because they are "vine-ripened Tempranillo grapes." You (as in I) have had fresh Tempranillo grapes before. These are not Tempranillo grapes--they look like red grapes from your local grocery store. TLDR: Terrible charcuterie board for ants that costs you $28. You shamefully have to pay by QR code and leave hungry. If you want a delightful charcuterie experience, visit Hummingbird Wine Bar or Bar 1903. Both places have delicious charcuterie boards with larger portions and great prices.
