Aite yall so look lol being from Thomasville its always a favorite thing to see the new restaurants developing around the city. I like several hours away and travel back to visit family/friends. I became aware of St. James simply by riding by and seeing the crowd the night before. The next day my parents and I chose to dine. The restaurant is beautiful and the kitchen is perfect for the proteins they serve. Flaunting a wood fire stove as well as a traditional pizza oven. The bar is well stocked and lit well, becomes a nice focus point in the dinning room area. Our reservation was for 5:30pm and they legit dont open the doors until 530 lol we were sat immediately and waited on. The server was nice and very accommodating. We shared the Brussels sprout appetizer and it was uniquely plated. Shredded seasoned well and presented in a circle topped with pecorino Cheese. Seasoning was well (4.5/5) a little lemon zest or juice would make this a 5. My mother had and enjoyed the waygu burger and rated it (4/5). My father and I had ribeyes, his well down, mine medium well. NOW, the steak was good. Well seasoned and cooked to temp. BUT, it was the smallest $90 steak I've ever seen lol . I give it 5/5 on taste, but value for money 3/5. A nice touch would be to blow torch the butter on top of the steak as mine was cold and ended up not melting. St. James is my absolute favorite restaurant on "date nights"! We've been going for the better part of a year and it truly never disappoints! I always get the same entree, but when you see the pictures, you will understand. The bone-in pork chop is a thick cut, topped with bacon jam and minced scallions. It is a melt in your mouth cut of meat and can be cut with a butter knife! It's that tender! Their au gratin potatoes are the perfect blend of cheese and cream served in your own cast iron crock straight from the oven. Grilled broccolini is served along side of this delicious masterpiece of an entree! He got the grilled redfish served over a bed of creamy cheese grits nestled in a tomato cream sauce that was excellent. Not too rich and not too overpowering. Once again the perfect blend of flavors all in one entree. Everything is grilled over an open flame enhancing the flavor of the dishes. The service is great! We've never had a bad time and the staff is friendly, helpful, and truly on point! Whether you sit at the bar or at a table, you will have the best service. Staff was excellent, great ambience but I was disappointed by the non-seafood meat offerings. Glad they were using a local producer for beef, but the beef was still feedlot grain fed beef and while it was cooked excellently, it tasted the same to me as a steak that I would get at applebees. It's the same quality of feedlot, grain fed beef that is used at all other restaurants but was a lot more expensive. The pricing for the half chicken and the pork chop was crazy- why in the world would someone pay $36 dollars for meat that was commercially raised indoors in disgusting conditions, same goes for the pork chop? You could have bought a bucket of that same chicken from KFC for 12 bucks. Restaurant is excellent in many ways but drops the ball with pretentious pricing of commercial-quality meats. read more

The least accommodating experience I've been a part of. Made a reservation more than a week in advance for party of 8 for a 40th birthday. Were told by management that we would be seated next to each other, but at two tables. Despite many empty tables, were given completely separate tables where we couldn't converse. Server and manager gave wild excuses about how troubling it would be for the kitchen and server to put two four tops together, or even beside each other, despite the fact that it would be against the window where no through traffic was necessary. Didn't hold a booth for us. Didn't reserve a table for 8. Terrible approach. No attempt to resolve. So much attitude. If this is the policy it should be clearly stated in advance. If you are a party over 4, I would go anywhere else. We ultimately left and went to Liam's. What an exceptional, kind and accommodating experience. Opt for Liam's instead. read more

The St. James Restaurant in Thomasville, Georgia is a restaurant we have passed on countless trips from Tallahassee to Thomasville for a day of shopping and dining. Why we never stopped to enjoy this restaurant until recently, I'll never know. It's situated on US 319 before you actually reach the downtown Thomasville area. Most of our trips have centered around the Broad Street, Jackson Street, Remington Avenue, Smith Avenue, and US 84 shopping areas. This restaurant is completely modern and totally charming. When you enter the restaurant, you are immediately greeted by a bakery case that implicitly reminds you to make sensible choices to leave room for dessert! There is a full bar available and also seating at the bar for refreshments or dining or both. There is plenty of restaurant dining room seating in the main room and there's also a more private area which I surmise is used for the evening overflow of dinner or private functions. Our host and server both greeted us promptly and courteously. Servers are uniformed in jeans and white shirts, so the atmosphere is completely casual. My dining companion ordered the hot chicken sandwich, including a hot fried chicken breast, apple slaw, hot honey, pickles, on a brioche bun. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, including a herb marinated chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, truffle mayo on a brioche bun. Both sandwiches were served with fries, including pecorino, truffle, garlic, and herbs. The sandwiches and fries were delicious and served hot from the kitchen! Although the dessert case beckoned us, we had not saved room for dessert and because we were still doing additional shopping we were unable to keep desserts fresh in a very hot car on a hot summer day. This only reinforces our desire to return to this restaurant and perhaps just for the dessert course next time. What a lovely restaurant option in Thomasville. The sandwich options make a wonderful lunch with friends or family. We will certainly return to this restaurant again! Bread pudding was cold in middle and small portion. Yes, restaurants are changing for higher margin but C'mon, fries as a replacement for Octopus? Main features seem expensive for what's plated. Before we return and patronize this restaurant, will definitely call ahead for the real menu, and if it is like the same, sad to say we more than likely will opt for another option. We drove from Tallahassee and the food and service were top notch . Everyone was super friendly and its always reassuring to see the owners helping out. The ambiance is very modern chic. We sat at the bar and Tiffany was very sweet and informative and made excellent drinks The Oysters are super fresh, full of flavor and its always best when you get to pick where they come from. The Sticky Ribs were insanely good, definitely stole the show. The Fig And Duck Pizza was very outside of the box thinking and i love a chef that experiments with his menu. It was light and the flavors were subtle, definitely a great option for lunch but we wish we tried something more rich like the risotto. You must save room for dessert because The Bread Pudding was to die for so soft and fluffy not overpoweringly sweet. I am not sure what to say about Saint James Place. We had reservations for a special occasion and were promptly seated. We wanted to order wine before dinner. The wine prices were on the high side. They had limited selection, and then they had wine on tap. We ordered a few, and none of them were worth the price. I went to the kitchen area to look over the area and oysters. I am not sure what their business model is trying to be, but they do fly oysters from all over the country and they were beautifully presented. I don't know how they keep them fresh because I did not see that many orders of oysters go out the kitchen. They had a beautiful copper wood fired stove so pizza looked tempting until I saw some on the tables. The birthday girl ordered a hamburger, a Wagyu burger. The French fries were perfect. Half the burger was left behind. She also ordered Brussel sprouts which were shaved, mixed and molded. It was her favorite dish of the evening. I ordered the Burrata salad which was my favorite part of my meal. I ordered the black grouper and a side. How can a seafood restaurant that has oysters- NOT have cocktail or tarter sauce. My fish was dry and overdone so I needed something for it. I was brought their version of a sauce that had a nice spice to it but didn't go with the fish. We ordered a dessert. I will give this place another chance but if I am going to spend over $100 on my meal, I would like it memorable. They serve brunch and I'll try that. read more

Don't bother! Expensive, mediocre! Had a mushroom pizza which last time I had it there was a scant amount of mushrooms. I asked waiter to make sure there were mushrooms.., charged extra! Ahh, St. James, what a wonderful surprise we happened upon. We were downtown for Victorian Christmas and knew finding anywhere to eat in that area would result in a multi hour wait. I asked one of the shop owners for a recommendation that was a little bit away from the craziness of the event and he recommended St. James. We were able to get a last minute reservation and off we went! Our server Kelly was so cute, she had the most charming personality and made sure to check on us often. The decor and atmosphere of St. James is BEAUTIFUL, we all ooh-ed and ahhh-ed when we walked in. We all got cocktails, a few appetizers and entrees. The standout dishes were the seafood risotto, everyone gushed over how good it was and the duck pizza. The fries get an honorable mention. This was definitely one of our favorite spots of our trip, we were so thankful for the kind local steering us to St. James! read more

We had an 8 pm reservation for 7 so they put us in a private room and had us a wait a few minutes while the room was prepped in a nice-sized bakery area. The restaurant itself is small, quaint and intimate with a woooonderful aesthetic. A nice full view of the bar and kitchen from the main dining area. Our waitress was Renee and despite the sniffles which gave me admittedly a little heartburn was great! Kind, patient and attentive. Now onto the food. It was fantastic and came relatively quickly. The milk buns were yummy, tasted like doughy clouds. They come 3 to a serving. I didn't order any drinks but the margaritas were claimed to be the best my girlfriends had ever tasted. Someone got the pear tree and it was a major miss. I had the duck flatbread and it was so tasty, they weren't skimpy on the duck and flavors of fig and lemon took this over the top. Someone got the risotto and said they wished the fish was cooked longer. The flavor of the risotto itself was not my cup of tea. The burger and fries were tasty. The other flatbreads were enjoyed by the other ladies in the party. The duck breast was solid according to the friend that got it. Now onto dessert. I love bread pudding and I give theirs a 7/10, but the ladies at my table loved it. We are sharers. :0) They also got the salted caramel blondie and the flavor was almost too much. Had dinner last evening with two dear friends from Tallahassee. I had the lobster with homemade pasta and I don't say this lightly - it was one of the best 5 meals I've had in my entire life. We ate there for dinner on 10/08/25 after driving from Crawfordville for an hour and 20 minutes. We had the first reservation time of the evening. The food took forever to come out, and it was so salty we could barely eat it. I did complain to our server after I had to flag her down, and she said she'd tell the chef and did ask if we wanted something else, however the restaurant was getting so full we couldn't wait another length of time to get new meals because we had a new pup at home in a crate. I ordered the shrimp pasta, my husband the 8- ounce fillet, and we had the calamari for an appetizer. I could not finish my meal--my husband ate his anyway and ate some of mine even though it was almost inedible. For $150 (with tip and no cocktails) it was a miserable experience and we won't be going back. All of it appeared to be triple-salted and I eat way too much salt normally so for me (and my husband) to say it was too salty is a big deal. We'd been there before and the food was great then. Again--we won't be going back again. Too expensive for a miserable meal. In hindsight I wish I had asked for at least a salad to replace my meal that I couldn't eat. Shouldn't be a danger of too much salt on that but who knows? read more

This weekend was my third time eating at St. James, first time going for lunch rather than dinner. First of all the restaurant itself is gorgeous and always has a lively, exciting atmosphere. The service is terrific. But the food is the star, for sure. The sourdough bread made in house is to die for. The sticky ribs and deviled eggs are phenomenal for appetizers. Yesterday at lunch I had the roasted turkey sandwich and it was like Thanksgiving on a plate! 2 people in my party had the steak sandwich and a third person had the hot chicken sandwich.
