This review specifically and singularly addresses their almond croissants. There are a legion of aspects relating to living in Australia and specifically a city like Sydney that I heartbreakingly miss. The people are marvelous, the country's landscape astoundingly breathtaking and staggeringly gorgeous, the beaches are the best I've seen in the world (these people know how to do beaches...California, take notes!)....and oh, yeah, I'm going to dare include in the same thought, the flat whites (Australia's superior take on a latte) are reason enough to move and live there if you are fortunate enough like us to have the opportunity.
But returning to this review, to this day I have not found a bakery here in California that produces almond croissants of the caliber to possibly be mentioned in the class of croissants as those baked here at St Honore Bakery. I have few vices but when a pastry is this tempting and magical, it's worthy of the highest remarks from me. Fresh is a given, baked here daily and when they sell out, you're kicking yourself for not waking up early enough. The textures - luscious, chewy outside with its generous, bounteous blanket of almond slivers enveloping an exquisite, opulent, abundant almond paste inside - made for many a weekends of slowly biting into, chewing and allowing myself to enjoy these masterfully created viennoiseries. read more
