Complete mismanagement and delusional staff…read more Today I saw that they had restricted the bus throw Lane and were forcing them to make a multiple point turn around in what seems like a maintenance parking area with garbage cans and temporary fences. Then there were more metal temp fences which were clearly moved after the bus dropped off kids from a competing high school forcing the bus to literally drive into and manually move the fence panels all the while pointing fingers on with side of the bus to move into the opposite direction. I'm definitely letting my friends know about this. Staff is soo unorganized here. Not worth spoiling a Saturday afternoon over, or any other day. I can only imagine the confusion that other students here have to go through on a probably daily basis dealing with simpleton meathead culture like this.

We were blown away…read moreby how much fun he had at Dangerous Camp -- the floor of the gym was covered in nerf bullets and the kids were decked out in safety glasses, the leaders seemed intelligent and fun, nobody behaved like sore losers when they lost competitions, they made everything really enjoyable... great experience. The music camp was super small but they accomplished a lot and my son, the youngest in the group-- still had a really positive experience. I was actually surprised because it's hard to make a tiny music camp fun when you don't know what instruments you're getting and what skill levels-- but they did a fabulous job. We kept in touch with a few of the students and they were great. We went to the open house for the school this year and looooved the headmaster's speech. It seems like a private school that actually sticks by their beliefs and doesn't only cater to rich parents. I was left with the impression that they have great integrity, and the people there were respectful, polite, and fun.

WOW what a great educator! he taught my daughter so many things that made her the student she is today. the student love him because he is funny and never is boring! she had a blast in his room and was always coming home with a story about how cool mr R was. he always took the time to help my daughter and give her the one on one help she needed. he took the time to sit down and write me a letter many times to let me know what a great day she had or something she needed to work on at home. there are regular teachers and then there are the teacher that touch your soul. these 3 teachers i mentioned are the teachers that come into your life and are never forgotten for the rest of your life. there are 2 aides at Dever that shine so bright you need sunglasses. Miss Tony and Mrs. Bruno. these 2 aides go above and beyond their jobs and love the students as if they were theirs! i could never have asked for better aides for my child. these 2 ladies are keepers and it would be a huge disappointment to see either of them go. i just wanted to let you know that you both are greatly loved and i dont know where we would be without you! Dever school is really blessed to have some of the teachers and aides they have and i hope they are treated as the "gold" they really are!!

Academically - both my children tested and successfully made it in at Loyola Academy. Numerous other graduates from both of their graduating classes successfully made it into selective enrollment schools or are enrolled in honors/ap classes at other Catholic high schools. The biggest positive of this school, that I am just realizing in hindsight is the type of kids that go here. After realizing how "advanced" some other kids were in areas of sex,drugs,alcohol who came from other neighboring grammar schools I was so thankful that wasn't an issue at St. Barts. We have such good kids and caring families as well as a dedicated staff. I'm sure that goes a long way when keeping our kids out of trouble. It's crazy what's out there. We r so blessed to have been in a safe situationall all their grammar school years. I really want to clear up what "Jerry H." On this site said about the school caring more about basketball than they do about academics. Obviously by using basketball as the only sport cared about I have to wonder if this post is made by a parent from another school. Yes we have a fantastic girls basketball program. As well as other sports like volleyball and cheerleading. The school has no focus or governing on our athletics. We are ran separately from the school and through the parish. The only "effort" afforded our athletic program is by our volunteers who coach. We have a parish paid athletic director and that's it. Sports are not pushes...nor the focus of our school. If we have winning records and do well...we celebrate it...that's all! Jerry- your facts are also wrong when it comes to the "rules" governing athletics. Those rules have been around for years. They were resurrected as a type of reminders to schools about time spent. The only thing that has changes is that we had to drop out of one of the leagues we did. So did a lot of neighboring schools. I can guarentee our school was not a reason for the rules. We only practiced once or twice a week before the rules...and the same holds true for now.

Unfortunately, my impression of it does not match their enthusiasm. Although his teacher (Ms. Sarah) did follow some Montessori practices, it is just way too Roman Catholic for me. As I understood it from parents of preschool alums, the preschool is run separately from the K-8 school. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. As a non-RC, I was put off by how much religious education/indoctrination my son received. The school pushed The Church's political agenda to preschoolers!
