Pros: -Classes are great and teachers want to help you. -After school stuff is well funded and well organized. -The sports events are fun to go to and the team plays well. -There's some elements of cameraderie (I'll focus on it later) -Food is fantastic. Cons: -Students can be right-leaning, some even bordering white nationalism (students have used pro-Confederate quotes on Instagram, and publicly have used racial slurs along with positive feelings toward bringing back slavery). -Homogenous school setting (almost everyone is a middle class, white, Republican prep kid that likes some sport. No one is really diverse or unique). -Lack of IEP/Special Ed programs. -The administration, while friendly, tends to favor the vox populi rather than the people getting bullied. You can see that my only problems with this school is the kids and the lack of IEP programs. Everything else about is good. If you want a good Catholic school for your child, I'd recommend it if they can keep to themselves politically. Otherwise, if they're Left of Centre all I can say is get the popcorn ready.

The students are very inclusive and welcoming here, but the teachers and staff treat them like animals. Security is not existent here, drugs abuse among good, well respected students is out of control, and all the school does is continues changing course materials and curriculums to become more progressive. The number of threatening emails, phone calls, and letters sent by 'Assistant Principals' is outrageous. There is definitely many class-action lawsuits in the making here...

These are the sort of community based events that a public school's facilities should be used for, bringing the general public in to show what the tax dollars are being used for, and giving prospective students/parents an idea of what's ahead next. It is a large auditorium, with comfortable seating and good acoustics. It can host a large production, with a lot of available seating. It also has dedicated auditorium parking very close to the main auditorium entrance, but it's limited. The studio had 6 shows in all this Sunday, and between show 3 and 4, it was definitely busy in the parking area, but everyone was dealing with it happily: a beautiful day outside and a show that makes you feel young.

That said, there are 1,000 students in a class. NT is probably best for those who are self starters. I spent the first two years there looking for my tribe. When I found small group of yearbook friends, it made going to school a far friendlier place. The students there bring tremendous talent in virtually all endeavors. This school district sucks. They have unyielding and unreasonable rules that make learning…read moreimpossible. For example, they allow only 3 minutes for students at their junior high to run between classes and, you guessed it, they are not allowed to run. The students have to gobble down their lunch within 15-30 minutes or be forced to throw it away. In elementary school, they insist on non-standard methods and require the students learn all of these complicated and cumbersome methods. Despite exceeding the average on state-wide tests from being self/taught math at home, the student can still get a near failing grade in math just because the non-standard methodology doesn't make any sense. They also require a physical ID just to take your kid home if they get sick for example. This is despite Illinois being a digital ID state. The district doesn't take any input from parents on any of these. The only time they engage parents is for "deciding" on poor options that don't matter anyway. Now, the same district that doesn't listen to parents wants even more of our precious tax property dollars to spend anyway they want on their costly pet projects that do not include bettering education. If you try to call the superintendent, you basically just get told that this is what they decided and you can go and pound sand. If you have a kid in this district, find a way out! They don't care at all about you here and take the community for granted.
