I love the special classes that they have for all grades. Every child gets the opportunity to learn Arabic, as well as participate in a dance class that teaches everything from modern dance, to tap, to breakdancing on a weekly basis. If students are having trouble in class, then teachers aides take them to the side to work on their problem areas. This is a small school, but that is perfect to ensure that all students receive the optimum learning experience. Fun note: The garden in front of Belding with the picnic tables is a certified wildlife habitat.

The leadership under Principal Yutzy and the time and care that the teachers at the school provide each student is a joy to witness. Students are challenged according to their abilities and are gently prodded to excel. It is almost like an extension of your family when it comes to the care/efforts put forth by the faculty & staff for the students. As a parent I can honestly say that my interactions at the school were more enjoyable and inclusive than they were at the private school. The education provided by all the GREAT TEACHERS over the years helped to enable my daughter to be prepared for that arduous task of Selective Enrollment and it got her into Northside College Prep. If you are debating whether to place your child at this wonderful neighborhood school; take the leap of faith as you will not be disappointed. We will miss Belding, but in our hearts we will ALWAYS BE A BELDING BULLDOG FAMILY!!

My teachers really cared about making sure that we got a quality education that would allow us to become articulate adults who were ready for whatever path we chose in life. I generally felt like they cared about me as a person, and that they wanted to make sure that I grew into a well rounded individual. I appreciate the time I spent St. Benedict, and I was well prepared not only for college, but for life in general. The church building itself is beautiful, but unassuming. The vaulted ceilings are cream, gold and a soft blue that, coupled with marble floors and dark wood give off a classy vibe. They remodeled it in the late 1990's, and I think the new décor was supposed to be more true to the original. It is not as ornate as some churches in the city but just as beautiful, without trying too hard, in my opinion. The priests were all right, and I remember the masses being engaging. I miss St. Ben's!

The communication to parents each week is very clear and informative. Our daughter is thriving at the school, we are very happy at St Ben's!

All I can say is I could kick myself for not coming here first. It has been nothing but a positive experience as a parent and a blessing for our daughters. From day one the students have been totally welcoming and lovely. Class size is half what it was at the other school and teachers are amazing. The staff and administration are very responsive and always looking to "do more" to make the school a better place. Parents have also been so friendly and inclusive. I highly recommend St. Luke to anyone asking a high quality education that combines important Christian values with academic excellence.

I initially fell in love with St. Luke School because of the environment and the Christian values…read morethat are part of the fiber of the community. There's safety and love that envelop the students as they walk in the door each morning. The love is given and received, and is almost easy to take for granted because it's just always there. The positive energy in the classrooms is due to the teachers and staff who have chosen to teach in a Catholic school almost as a vocation, as well as the children whose families have chosen this school. As a reading specialist and elementary and middle school classroom teacher, my trust deepened as I recognized the curricular knowledge base for which the administrators and teachers used to select their resources and programming. The importance of including phonics, spelling, and word study is important to me because I have seen the value of it first hand. Their understanding and knowledge of brain-research-based instruction as well as their understanding of meeting the needs of the WHOLE child is impressive and unique in our present educational climate. Additionally, the partnership between the teachers and administrators has been instrumental in making the curriculum accessible to the students. St. Luke's is truly growing and nurturing critical-thinking, independent, well-rounded, soulful individuals.

WOW what a great educator! he taught my daughter so many things that made her the student she is today. the student love him because he is funny and never is boring! she had a blast in his room and was always coming home with a story about how cool mr R was. he always took the time to help my daughter and give her the one on one help she needed. he took the time to sit down and write me a letter many times to let me know what a great day she had or something she needed to work on at home. there are regular teachers and then there are the teacher that touch your soul. these 3 teachers i mentioned are the teachers that come into your life and are never forgotten for the rest of your life. there are 2 aides at Dever that shine so bright you need sunglasses. Miss Tony and Mrs. Bruno. these 2 aides go above and beyond their jobs and love the students as if they were theirs! i could never have asked for better aides for my child. these 2 ladies are keepers and it would be a huge disappointment to see either of them go. i just wanted to let you know that you both are greatly loved and i dont know where we would be without you! Dever school is really blessed to have some of the teachers and aides they have and i hope they are treated as the "gold" they really are!!

The teachers communication as well as the office, more importantly the principal is beyond outrageous. The principal never wants to really tell the truth to parents and will yell at students, covering up secrets that will always show the truth someday. The principal had gone as far to fire a staff member due to telling the truth to the parents to help them get more knowledge on how the scenarios really are.
