The customer service & bedside manner was next level, the kind you rarely find these days and definitely won't find at Ascension Seaton (AS). We had a devastating emergency yesterday, and went to Kyle ER after a horrible experience at AS. The receptionist, nurse, doctor, and specialists they brought in were amazing to work with, and helped me to feel comfortable in such a scary situation. I am beyond grateful for the help of Kyle ER yesterday and highly recommend them.

They don't balance bill after your insurance pays them (plus whatever your portion is, under insurance). I did their detox program. While I didn't like not being able to interact with anybody other than staff (I mean, it's a hospital setting, so...), they have Roku Tvs with Netflix in the rooms, and you can sign into any of your own services. Jason and Tina in particular are amazing, but I had no negative experiences with anyone working there. I will say, if you're there long enough for a meal, it's going to be a frozen dinner that they throw in a microwave. The upside is you have an exact calorie and carb count, if that matters (I'm on insulin, I have to dose based on carb intake - they let me self administer since I'm on an insulin pump). At one point they apparently would order from restaurants, but that probably cut into the CEOs hush fund too much (joking) Thr care is great. The food is terrible (I mean... It's a frozen dinner). The bill will max out your deductible (and likely your out of pocket even on a HDHP). But they truly do care, and they've stayed in touch to see how I'm doing. Tina, Jason, if either of you see this, thank you.

I had swelling and a purple tint to my ear, where I'd had a cyst removed 5 years ago. I put this in…read morethe intake notes. I specifically chose this facility because they advertise draining abscesses and minor surgeries on the website. On this list of services there is an asterisk that notes that only certain facilities provide "silica exams." However, that is the only service that has the note. In my intake notes, I literally listed "doxycycline (for acne)" as a current medication. I also listed amoxicillin as a medication allergy. When I was seen, I explained to the doctor what was going on and that prior to my surgery I'm 2020, it was difficult to obtain a diagnosis and that prior practitioners prescribed skin cream and bactrim, and neither of those worked. The doctor said she couldn't perform a drainage procedure because my symptoms were by the ear and it was "cosmetic." Completely understandable, but that should be one of the services with an asterisk note, at minimum. She offered to prescribe me doxycycline and I said I was already on it. The doctor asked why, and I said it was for acne and it was in my notes. In hindsight I wish I'd asked why she hadn't read the notes. She then offered amoxicillin, and I told her that in my notes I listed that medication as an allergy. Then she proposed bactrim, despite the fact that I just said I'd been prescribed that for this ear issue before and it did not work. At that point I said I would just leave and I wanted my copay refunded. There was no issue receiving the refund and the girl at the front desk was very apologetic. I wasn't angry with the girl at the front desk and told her it was not her fault. I understand if the procedure couldn't be done at the facility. My issue is that I cannot find any reasonable excuse why a physician would not have read the intake notes listing my current medications and allergies. I have concern for future patients and sincerely hope this issue is resolved internally. I understand this is a high paced, stressful environment but things like reading intake notes and understanding current medications and allergies shouldn't be overlooked. Edit: Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews beforehand because I was in so much discomfort I was focused on finding a facility I thought could provide treatment. In reading other reviews, it appears the standard response is "I'm sorry to learn your experience with Texas MedClinic Urgent Care did not meet your expectations." Anticipating this review will receive a similar response, I'd like to point out the Texas Occupations Code defines Medical Records as "all records relating to the history, diagnosis, treatment, or prognosis of a patient." Additionally, Practicing Medicine is defined as "the diagnosis, treatment, or offer to treat a mental or physical disease or disorder or a physical deformity or injury by any system or method, or the attempt to effect cures of those conditions..." I say this because expecting a physician to review the medical records I provided for this specific care is not an expectation specific to me or some unsaid expectation I had in mind. The State has regulations, laws, and definitions for a reason. One of those reasons is to provide notice to physicians and the public about care. So, to save anyone time in issuing the response I anticipate, I want to make it clear this was not a personal expectation. The expectation I had was that a physician providing care would read my intake notes, which is simply a basic component of practicing medicine.

Unfortunately, both have left Seton, with the most recent one just having departed on 1/1/19. Seton notified me in a letter dated 11/27/18. Here are pertinent points from that letter: "* If you currently have an appointment scheduled after December 31st with Dr. XXXX, one of our staff will contact you to reschedule with another Seton physician, and ensure the smooth transition of your care. * We are also pleased to announce that XXXX XXXX XXXX, MD, Family Medicine will be relocating to Seton Family of Doctors at Hays and accepting new patients beginning January 14, 2019. * Alternatively, please feel free to contact us, (512) 504-0855, if you have any questions, would like to obtain a copy of your patient record, or choose to arrange transfer of your records to another physician." I didn't have an appointment scheduled but needed one so I called. I told them who I would like to see at the practice and they told me "no." They assured me that the letter clearly explained that I had to see the new doctor at the practice. I told them that them letter said nothing of the sort. Never mind the fact that I was due for a follow up before the new MD was seeing patients. I guess they figured a couple of weeks wasn't a matter of life and death. They were insistent. They were complete a--holes. And they still are. If you want any say in your care, go elsewhere. The one thing you will not find here is caring about what you want.

She is fantastic and we're glad to have her as our Primary Care Physician. She is the definition of what a Primary Care doctor should be. She familiarizes herself with your whole medical history and determines if you need to be examined further by a specialist. Then I found Dr. Wenzel... probably the very best Endocrinologist I've ever met. I left my last Diabetes doctor because I only saw the actual doctor twice in the year-1/2 I went there. Dr. Wenzel was very thorough, spent a good amount of time with me, and was kind enough to phone me (on a Saturday morning) to deliver the results of my lab work. Unbelievable! Needless to say. He's the ONLY endocrinologist I ever want to see. It's not just the wonderful Doctors at Seton, but also the Staff. From Reception to Nurses and PAs, you feel welcomed and cared for every visit. They also have their own Lab on site and it sure beats going to one of those places where you wait for a long time just to give a little blood. The Phlebotomist is the best I've ever seen. Never a bruise or sting. Smooth as glass. Seton also has the very best Patient Portal I've ever seen. It's easy to get a message to or from the Doctors, manage appointments, pay bills, and view test results. I just love this Medical Team and am happy to live close enough to use them exclusively.

You'd think people that worked in a hospital setting would be used to patients coming into the emergency room in pain???!!! I was actually shushed ,multiple times.!!!!! I presented there with what ended up being a pretty rare in fact of the rarest nerve disease. And it is so painful that people die from it because they refuse to eat. So this was my first experience with this pain and of course I went straight to the ER. They did tell me I didn't have an ear infection ,( I already knew that) and They kept telling me to be quiet because I was moaning constantly and every once in a while Id scream when the pain became too much to bear anymore. The doctor eventually came in and told me they were going to give me antibiotics and eardrops. I asked why and he said for your ear infection ??? But they said I did not have one and I knew that I did not have one also.???? I know it's a rare nerve disease but if somebody had just talked to me and asked me where and how it was hurting and everything they might have just figured it out. Side note ,, not related to my story - I asked for and received my husband's emergency room bill from that location and got them to take off $1,200 worth of charges for services never received!!!! Just saying when you get your bill in the mail from the hospital itself call them and ask them for an itemized bill . you will be amazed how much they're charging for that Ibuprofen theyg you $86 1 pill!!¡!

The malice, distain, deceit, incompetence, arrogance & conniving behavior from this staff member was absolutely appalling. I have never been so mistreated, the ruthlessness, cold-hearted arrogance that exudes from this healthcare professional is beyond comprehension. I'm terrified to think of the devastation this one person has made to patients of GAPC. The lengths this person was willing to go to ensure the procedure scheduled during my appointment did not take place was astonishing - and outright negligent and against the payer / provider contracts. Save yourself some heartache, dignity, time, & money by avoiding this cold-hearted, vindictive, narcissist. She shouldn't bring in control of medical bills or gave any contact with patients. Not only was my experience horrible, the treatment I paid to have done was DENIED due to the billing department incompetence.
