Not much curb appeal but better than most mall offerings in the area. Was surprised that they had a pacsun, HM, American Eagle, Dillard, JCPenny, etc. pretty lively for a Sunday and decent selection of stores. Like most malls it feels like it's nearing its end but was a fun place to walk and explore. read more

I really enjoyed this mall. I haven't been here in years and I must say it was nice and beautifully decorated with Christmas music and trees and lights. Well lit, spacious and clean of clutter. Police presence and security observed. Stores were plentiful, fully occupied food court as well. Brand stores were JC Penny, Macy's, Dillards, Bath and Body Works, Victoria Secrets . Pricing is reasonable and sales are in full effect which is always a plus. Location right off the highway in the mist of shops, stores,restaurants and entertainment. Great area and basically a one stop paradise. read more

A shell of the place it was in the 80's -90's. Used to be the place to go hang out with friends. Aladdin's castle.... Nowadays it's getting shoplifted and the food court is meh...still has a Sbarro's so it's got that going for it.....I pretty much limit my shopping at Macys. read more

I don't frequent the mall often. The "Square" used to be THE place to shop. In it's heydey, each major department store was there --Sears (I miss you), Dillards, Macy's (formerly Famous Barr) and Dillards. Now, pretty much every third store front is vacant. Stores like Teavana, Things Remembered and Starbucks have disappeared. It's very disappointing. Many of the retailers are Mom and Pop establishments. I give them credit for taking the risk of entrepreneurship but their customer service skills need improvement. I noticed there weren't as many teenagers in the mall which is a good thing. read more

I stopped in here when traveling with a large group. (6 coach buses). This was a perfect stop for lunch. The food court was able to handle all of is and had plenty of bathroom options. Parking lot was great for our bus parking needs. I will for sure remember this place for future group trips. read more

First time coming here. I'm definitely a mall enthusiast and wanted to check it out. I was caught by the flying saucer looking structure above the Macy's. Plenty of parking here. I find it unique there is a stairway to the food court on the second floor. The mall is at least 85 percent occupied. It's mostly clothing and accessory stores than anything else. Food court features a fair variety of options to choose from. Tons of pop up shops. Plenty of busses come by as well. Overall, it's your casual mall but it definitely lacks excitement. No hallmark store, no fye, no game stop either read more

I've been coming to St Clair Square for well over 25 years now; primarily out of necessity because there isn't a decent mall within 40 miles or anywhere else in the metro-east! SCS used to be a pretty formidable shopping venue. Over the years, though, it's gone down hill. Far down hill! Many of the corridor stores you typically expect to see in a top-notch shopping mall, have come and gone from SCS, leaving behind vacant spaces or second-rate trinket stores. Some of the bigger department stores are still operating (Macy's, Dillards, J.C. Penney's, etc), but I can't help but wonder how much longer they'll hold out here. read more

The food court now allows indoor dining and it is absolutely PACKED on weekends so there is no way to get anywhere near a place to order without passing by a table full of people without masks.And when you place your order, you're going to be standing near a table full of people without masks while you wait. They even have a table about a foot from the food court entrance now. I won't be back to this mall until after the pandemic. read more

I'm giving this mall 3 stars for its location and selection in stores. I already have to drive 2.5 hours to go to a decent mall in St. Louis, but this mall offers all the stores I need without having to drive super far. It's surprising that you find a mall like this so close to southern Illinois. It has a Gap, Express, The Limited, Banana Republic, etc. The food court is nice and has a good selection of places to eat. The only thing I would really like is a Nordstrom and more high-end stores, but that would probably be asking too much. What I also like is that the mall is an anchor for other places around Fairview Heights. I saw so many nice strip malls with all the stores and restaurants you would really need. Compared to Carbondale, this place is like heaven. read more

I do not care for this mall at all! I find that there are many rude and unprofessional people that work and shop here. I use to frequent often but throughout the years I've slowly found out that a whole bunch of inconsiderate ppl that are always around. I only go here for a couple things...to bath and body works for their candles, or Starbucks on a promotion. Otherwise I avoid this mall at all possibilities or just go during the week, during the day. Avoid weekends and late night. That's when all the crazies are out. read more

I would not bring my kids here in the evening again. There was hardly anyone around aside from several unsavory characters. A lot of the store spaces were empty anyway. On the other hand, I appreciated security being visible in the parking lot both when I arrived and as I was leaving. read more

We really like this mall. It's nothing fancy, and we'd love a Banana Republic, but there are still some good shopping options, including Dillards and Macy's (especially the Backstage section, which is like a mini TJ Maxx). Food court leaves something to be desired. They have a nice little play area for small children. Unfortunately, sometimes bigger kids play there and make it unsafe for toddlers. read more

I'm a child of the 1980s and 1990s. I spent my entire youth in a shopping mall. Not this one but a shopping mall. When I walk in now which is pretty rare they feel a little sad. The stores are abysmal and the employees aren't helpful and the stores don't stock ¼ of the merchandise the company sells online. Generally when I do visit it's to return an online purchase. Today I returned an online purchase and got some lunch. It was satisfactory but malls just aren't what they used to be. Especially this one! read more

St Clair Square was the place when I was younger, so it was great to go in and see it still up and flourishing. The food court had a lot of good options. We went searching for the candy store which had closed BUT they had gumball machines which worked. And I was especially excited to find Starbucks! Way to go SCS! read more

This mall continues to go downhill! I guess the management fired their cleaning crews about a month ago. The entire mall is filthy . I've been in outhouses that smelled better than the restroom near the food court. Won't be going back. read more

Many other reviewers claim that St. Clair Square is a "nice mall," but nothing here impresses me. In general, St. Clair Square has the same stores you'd find in most suburban shopping centers -- Aeropostale, Macy's, Hot Topic, Bath & Body Works, etc. It's perfectly adequate for general shopping, but I wouldn't call this a stand-out mall by any means. The mall is easy to get to, visible from the exit 12 ramp of I-64. And it's surrounded by many other shopping enclaves and stripmalls, so you can easily make a day out of buying clothes, bedding and lumber from a variety of stores. St. Clair Square feels small, though. Other reviewers mentioned that the mall is one of the biggest in the area on the Illinois side, but it doesn't feel that way to me. The concourses feel quite a bit more narrow than in other area malls and, thus, a bit more cramped. Also, St. Clair Square is missing a few important stores like Nordstrom, Apple and H&M, something that keeps me away unless I'm already visiting a friend in the area. There's nothing wrong with St. Clair Square, per se. I simply can't get everything I need there. I'll stick to the Galleria or, when I really want to go nuts, the Chesterfield Mall. They've got the stores I want and are much closer to my downtown home. read more

I grew up coming to this mall so it's always nice to come here when I'm home. After remodeling, the place looks a lot nicer even though there could be a larger variety of stores. I come here when there's something specific that I need or if I don't feel like driving too far, but if I usually find myself going to the galleria in Brentwood because there's much more variety and more activities to do in the area. I used to have fond memories of St.Clair Square however over the last 10 years I have noticed this mall starting to go downhill. There is still a Macy's, JC Penny, and Dillard's, however I have a feeling that if any of these stores were to shut down it would be a major hit to the mall and we would be one step closer to being another South County Center. As far as the mall itself goes it is bright, they really let in a lot of natural light however at times I think its too much. The selection of the stores is average, they have the normal stores you would expect to see like, Hot Topic, Spencer's, Gap, Bath & Body Works, Aeropostale, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, etc. However on my last visit I noticed more low rent stores, selling nothing but knick knacks or throw away items, which is never a good sign. Every time I have visited foot traffic has been very light, even on weekends. Yes, the parking lot looks full however I am not sure where those people are because I never see that many people walking around the mall. Another reviewer mentioned that the mall is missing several stores like Nordstrom, Apple, and H&M, however these stores would never survive here. Parking is available, if you cant find a spot in front just drive around. There is literally a sear of parking available. So finding a spot is not very difficult. Overall this isn't a bad mall, but there are many other options available in Saint Louis. read more

Your typical ho-hum mall with your typical stores...and NO NORDSTROM. This alone makes me never want to come here. Aside from my unyielding adoration for Rogers and Hollands, this mall holds little to no value for me. They did (relatively recently) add Teavana, which is definitely a step in the right direction. I will say their Starbucks is consistently on point. When I was first hired on by Starbucks, I trained there because the store in O'Fallon was not yet open. Granted, it was Christmas time and they were packed the entire duration of my training, but the turn over in their store is very minimal. There are partners who trained me that still work there to this very day...7 years later. Do yourself a favor and go to the Galleria in St. Louis. read more

Like John H., I spent many years working in a mall. In fact, I was on the grand opening team for the Chick-fil-A at St. Claire Square many moons ago! Yup, it is old school and smells and looks like a typical mall. Why 4 starts if it is just typical? Because it is a survivor. Anyone remember: Jamestown Mall, St. Louis Center, Northwest Plaza, etc.? I've made many visits to this mall ever since my family would go on shopping trips here back in the 80s. So much has changed since, obviously! I even remember a time where there were three toy stores and no food court. One of my earliest memories is going to the Hardee's that was at one time in the basement by Dillards. I remember renting tuxedos at the mall, buying my cool brand-name clothes and hanging out with my friends here back in the day (and this was 20 miles from my hometown!). Nostalgia aside, there have been many changes - not just at St. Clair Square but on the shopping mall scene as a whole. Some of it for the worst. I fear SCS is probably the next to go, or at least that's how I felt last year (July 2015), as I saw some empty storefronts between Macy's and Sears. I made a recent visit and I noticed all of those stores are filled now, but for how long? Most of those new places are pretty much independent stores with just basic items that can be found in other places. Some of the major chains have gone, and as of this writing, Aeropostale is on the way out. The food court is still alive, and there is one new place opening up. I counted probably two empty storefronts this time around - so the mall has done some improvement. The main anchor stores are all still there, as well as some of the usual mall staples (Abercrombie & Fitch, Build-a-Bear, Hot Topic, Spencers, Victoria's Secret, etc.). The mall is clean, and at times it looks bare without some of the vendors in the escalator areas. But it still seems to be rolling pretty well in the soon-to-be post-mall age. However, SCS has gotten some bad publicity lately - a bomb scare, and robberies in the parking lot (by Macy's). I recall sometime in the mid-90s when someone was murdered at the Everything's a Dollar store, but that was during the mall's peak. It does have one 'chill-out' area, where there are plenty of seats and couches, where Olga's and Gamestop used to be. It has lost some of its magic over the years, but in a way it is still 'shoppable', I should say. I'll cut 'em some slack for continuing to replace what is gone...for now. read more

Good mall, but they got rid of the diverse stores. There's no dvd store, arcade, or bookstore. It's all clothing now mostly. Also the food court is filthy. I know they renovated and it looks a lot better, but it's not maintained very well. There is also less mall security at this mall than the St. Louis Galleria. read more

this mall is pretty nice overall. They have all the stores I need and conviently located the closest to where I live. I have been to a lot of malls and this is not that impressive, no big play area for kids or anything outside of stores and a food court. I love that all malls including this one have a Chick-fil-a, thats about all I get out of the food court and the wife loves the gyro place, found out she doesn't like the chicken there just the lamb/beef i go here cause its the closest otherwise i will cross the river if i have time read more

It was really nice to explore a different mall for once. I was very impressed with my first visit to St. Clair Square. We stopped before eating dinner with friends in Fairview and were quite surprised. It was spacious and very lite up with both lights and the sky through the windows. Every store you can imagine is here. They have a vast selection of food options as well. Quite easy to get to, off of Highway 40/64 when coming from St. Louis. read more

I love this mall. I grew up roaming this mall as a kid. Now, 40 yrs old I miss not being able to go there. I moved out west to Cali and I would die to have a mall like this around here. We have to travel forever to find a mall this size out here. The shops at the mall were always changing over the years. I remember Oak Tree, Dillards, EB Games, Sears and the two book stores (which now have moved out to make their own stores nearby). Had so many fond memories of bringing my daughter here to Build A Bear and also to let her ride the Carousel. She was so happy then. The food court was decent, but always crowded. You could never find a seat. Most of the time we ate chinese or pizza there. I use to love them giving out samples as we would walk past. The place use to always be packed out. It really is during holiday shopping seasons. I can remember waiting forever to get off I-64 onto the ramp to get to St. Clair. Sometimes could take an hour. My only complaint about the mall is it seems before I moved a lot of gang activity was taking place. Didn't see a lot of cops around anymore either. I hope that has changed in the few years since I moved. read more

I grew up going to this mall, and yesterday I visited it for the first time in ten years. They have music playing so loud outside the restroom that when I tried to make a phone call from one of the payphones, I just had to give up. The food court is okay. I went to the gyro place and ordered a veggie burger. But it wasn't a veggie burger, it was just soggy vegetables on a bun, with no kind of sauce or anything. It was gross. read more

This mall sucks and the security is terrible they are so rude.the security does not worry about the things that matter and just goes after stupid things that make them feel empowered.The mall is going downhill it's almost unsafe. There are creepers waiting to attack in the parking lot. It may be closer to your home but the 45 minute drive to the galleria/west county mall will NOT kill you. It's a much better environment there and MANY more stores there. I mean even the food court at st claire is going down hill. It's such a shame. Maybe they should close down for awhile and re open so maybe a new crowd and some new stores would be able to open because the building itself is nice. read more

I'll admit my reason for liking SCSSC is weak: it looks like the mall I first came to know at age seven. When suburban shopping arrived in my hometown, I traded riding up and down the escalators at the downtown Smith-Bridgman's for climbing up and down the green marble frog at the mall. Later, I held the esteemed position of lead stockboy at the Naturalizer shoe store, where one of my junior associates memorably walked from the second floor storeroom onto the drop ceiling, and fell through to the sales floor below. Obviously, it didn't take much smarts to be the lead stockboy. Especially with a manager who responded to every suggestion with "Don't think, John. It weakens the team." SCSSC is average in most respects, certainly subpar to many others today. Still, everything about it is familiar, and I can imagine the employee entrances, loading docks, and cardboard recyclers. Huge mall, probably the biggest and best mall on the Illinois side from Decatur down to Metropolis. There are two levels with all the essential stores inside. There are cool things for the kids, a food court and specialty stores sure to cure every shopping itch. It's always busy, so parking can be fun. But if you want to avoid crossing into STL, this is the place to shop. read more

I came to this mall on my final shopping trip in Collinsville with friends before going home to Chicago and the mall is nice and clean and I notice that they don't have a lot of closures since a few malls in Chicago have seen the proverbial shut down due to stores leaving for cheaper spots and more exposure with better clientele. Also security is present and you don't see any riff raff and excessive teens hanging out at the mall. It's better than some of the malls in Chicago where teens are using these spots to hang out in when they don't have places to go where they can socialize and not cause trouble. The area of Fairview Heights is nice too and the shopping strip is nice with different stores and restaurants. The mall is a nice spot and worth checking out if you're a visitor to the Collinsville area. read more

You know, I feel kind of bad picking on a place I once considered a cool place to hang out at, but the reality is this mall just kind of nose dived in the past couple years. The amount of turnover of retailers is sad. Hollister, Bath and Body and Hot Topic seem to be the only stores worth going to...well, and Cinnabon. It is almost as if kiosks of niche and novelty have taken over the main stores, and it feels like it is a decade behind other malls like the Galleria. The food court is boring and mostly just bad food overall. Things like smoothies are a thing of the past here. The big dept. stores feel like dinosaurs and really don't compete with strip mall stores like Kohls or the outlet stores. I agree with the other poster about possibly shutting it down and doing a complete remodel. read more

Someone with ERMC needs to get there act together why do they have the security officers sign a hands off policy that's on paper all by itself but yet has a policy book explaining stating the use of handcuffs. And if your truly hands off why carry handcuffs.the handbook was revised 2012. The paper was signed in 2014. Hmmmm does your clients and tenants to the mall know this information. Is that so when theres a major complaint that ERMC can wipe there hands of it. Im very curious why a company that has lawyers on staff doesnt have this policy in a book with the others you sign off on. I mean i got a copy of my file and to have both in there from over a 2 year gap. How up front is ERMC being. So how safe is being in the mall? Curious to the legal issues this could bring having both policys that seem to be in place.
