I was able to donate three large bags and they were very helpful and kind to assist me with taking them out of my vehicle.

I happened upon this shop on accident and I am so glad that I did! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The shop has a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. I would say that this store is broken down into 2 main areas. The first is what you might expect from a typical thrift/community resale shop. It has clothes, shoes, picture frames, lamps, books, kitchen items, etc. I like that I can pick up smaller home items here that other big chain thrift stores might not have. For example, I was able to get things for my desk like a stapler, clips, folders, notebooks, and pens. I've also bought lamps here. I like that they test their electronics before they put them out for sale. The second area is their furniture warehouse. Now this place is HUGE in the best way! It is very organized. There are 2 floors full of furniture. A staff member will accompany you. Both guys who have helped me find furniture have been very knowledgeable about their inventory and can take you exactly where you need to go to find the type of furniture you need. We bought a beautiful solid wood dresser for $60. To get it home, the shop referred us to a non-affiliated delivery service that often helps their customers. Ask about Fred! He and his team did a great job getting our new dresser to our home. read more

Went in and was told they were closing. I saw that they close at 4 and had driven across town to check it out. I walked in at 3:49 and they said well we're closing early sorry. Seriously? Why not just stay open for the extra 11 minutes. I saw something specific that I wanted but no deal. Will not be returning. If you can't give the customer the 10 min the. We walked in and were told to leave because they were closing. The store didn't close for another 15 minutes (5pm). This is the thrift store we always donate to and shop from. It is ridiculous to be turned away when they were still supposed to be open for another 15 minutes! read more

I was visiting the area, trying to visit every thrift store I could find in Belleville and this place was definitely a highlight. I was pleasantly surprised to find out this place is huge and has literally everything you could think of. The staff are also super friendly, which is always great. Do not judge a book by its cover. This building is huge and looks a little rough on the outside, but inside it is packed with fun bargains. The lady behind the counter was quick to greet us and offered to hold our bags for us so we could browse the shop. The racks were nicely placed around the shop. It was designed with clothes, housewares, furniture, kids items, etc....When we were checking out the lady behind the counter told us that our purchase would be benefitting 18 different non profits, wow shopping and giving back all in the same place. read more

I grew up in the area, but no longer live in Southern Illinois. So, when I'm home for the holidays (or otherwise), I like to hit as many thrift stores as possible. Vintage and consignment shops in Boston are great. But for bargain treasures, there's no place like home. Belleville has many thrift/resale shops and Community Kindness is among the best. Because every visit is unpredictable, I will gush over my recently purchased finds: -Three pairs of leather 80s heels. (Two suede, in black and blue. One not, embellished with gold elephants. GOLD ELEPHANTS.) -A whole bunch of doilies. (Some handmade, some not. A friend is getting married this summer and needs them for ambiance. Oh, some lace, too. -Hanging plant-holder made of shells. (I used to live in Florida. I love shells.) -Vintage brass buttons. (Ideal for capes.) If I lived nearby, I would certainly be a regular. The staff of volunteers are so friendly and the amount of goods they stock is somewhat overwhelming. There's an entire room dedicated to furniture and frames. Another room for records and books. I might go back for colorful crocheted blankets. read more

This a great thrift shop, well organized and prices are clearly marked. If you're looking for furniture there is a whole warehouse next to the main store just for their furniture and bigger items so be sure to ask. I will say that I wasn't thrilled to find that they were selling a several years expired car seat on my last visit there and didn't seem concerned about it; car seats should not be resold, but especially not expired ones. read more

I've been in the store 3 times and I love how the staff/volunteers counteract with me as a customer except for one I think she's the owner. She's always so rude and snooty. I have bought some glass vases, her staff was so careful with the items. But when this lady took over to pack the vases, she was so careless. When I asked her a question she didn't even reply, so I repeated the question and I received a total silence. I thought she was hard of hearing, then the mail man came and she greeted him and had a quick conversation. So I know she's not hard of hearing. So I repeated the question and she looked irritated and rudely pointed out what I was looking for. I felt discriminated I paid for my items and wished her a good day.They should take out the kindness part because I certainly didn't experience the kindness from her. I did like coming here but I don't think I would come back. I rather take my business elsewhere that would appreciate the value of a loyal customer. read more
