I was able to donate three large bags and they were very helpful and kind to assist me with taking them out of my vehicle.

I love Salvation Army in Belleville. Usually, I find myself in there for hours on end with a cart…read morefull and only a few dollars spent. I've found some great things on my expeditions, especially in clothing and glassware. I especially love that a different colored tag/department is on sale almost daily. Like other reviewers have said, the staff here is so friendly and helpful. I once wanted a hoodie (several years ago) but someone had torn the tag off. I was willing to pay whatever it was, but the associate couldn't sell it without a tag. I understood and left with the rest of my items. My friend and I backed up when of the outside associates flagged me down and gave me the hoodie. He said it would go back through STL and take forever to get back into the system, if it even did. I gave him a couple bucks for it. While he probably shouldn't have been so kind in regards to his job security, I thought it was exceptionally sweet. Another positive about the friendly staff is that there's plenty of them around when you need someone. This place is a pretty frequent stop for me. My only complaint is that it's not rare to find stained, torn clothing or broken items in the store. I know there are limited resources, but these damaged clothing items could be donated (possibly benefitting S.A.) to one of those clothing bins where they're recycled and turned into rags. The broken hard goods could be disposed of or also recycled in some way, I'm sure. There are resources wasted by having it processed, priced, sent to the store and then stocked. Overall, great store. You never know what hidden gem you may uncover.

We had our first visit at the SA thrift store today located on N Illinois in Belleville. To say we…read morewere sticker shocked is disturbing. We understand prices at all retailers, thrifts, etc have increased. But when the majority of almost all the clothing is priced higher than purchasing brand new at a retailer, there's something majorly wrong. We commenting to employees, the majority stated "oh, we all know". The only thing they are able to do is give you the phone number to talk with corporate and leave bad reviews. So we're starting here. If you're looking for lower cost clothing for anyone, please steer clear of these stores. They are priced at corporate, then sent to the stores where they have no power over pricing. Stick to smaller thrifts who are non-profit. You will even find high prices at Goodwill & Savers, but the SA thrift is even higher than those mentioned.
