It is a shame, since I like my doctor, but I'm no longer going to support the office's shady business practices. Others be warned

I've always enjoyed interacting with staff, nurses, PA's, and doctors. They were always super-kind and even made sure during cold/flu season to make sure that patients with possible infectious viruses waited in a lobby that's separate from a waiting room for people coming in for other concerns so that communicable viruses are less likely to be shared amongst patients. Since the merger with UNC, I've tried to be patient with staff who are struggling to master what appear to be very complicated systems and record storage. The reception folks no longer have personable contact with patients, who wait in line for 10-25 minutes, with no regard for communicable diseases and no separate waiting area for folks who may be infectious. I've been in line more than once when a patient began to collapse, and we fellow patients are their only direct line of care. Staff are noticeably frustrated; their work days must be incredibly stressful. The UNC merger took place almost a year ago, and still staff whom I know to be super-smart, kind, and compassionate are struggling to master "the new system." Patients who check out have to go back to stand in the same line as patients checking in; there's no sign indicating there's a separate line for check-outs. I feel such sympathy for the staff at the front office. It must be awful for them. Those who have been there for several years seem cored-out, burnt out. I can't imagine why the practice hasn't ironed out the kinks in the "new" system that's no longer new, or found ways to treat patients kindly from the moment we walk in through the door knowing that we patients are experiencing concerns and exposure to communicable diseases before we even get checked in or called to an exam room. Staff morale seems low, and I wish there were something we patients could do to help front-office staff have a better experience and be able to focus on patients more than their computers.

She examined me and patiently gave me plenty of time to ask questions. I already knew what my problem was, as it had been diagnosed decades ago. I'd been "prescribed" an OTC medication which helped a little, but didn't prevent my pain (and other issues) from occuring on a daily basis. I saw 3 or 4 Gastroenterologists over the years & they always recommended the same medicine. Megha asked me if I'd like to try a prescription medicine, which she thought would be helpful, and I immediately told her "Yes!" Maybe I could finally get this pain & inconvenience under control! I have been taking the prescription medication for 2 weeks and it has completely changed my life for the better. I only wish that I'd seen her years ago! Everyone at the office was friendly and efficient. The office and exam rooms were very clean, as well. I was called back to see Megha as soon as I walked in the door--great time management, too! I would highly recommend Megha and this practice to everyone!

My doctor contacted this facility and when they contacted me I was in a meeting told them I would call them back. I need to get a colonoscopy. I have tried contacting this facility 12 times by phone (they never answer) and I have sent at least 3-5 emails asking politely to please get in touch with me. I have not heard back from them? For a doctor's office I find this very unprofessional and uncaring. I am going to drive over to their office and speak with their office manager. This is very frustrating and I wonder if I should even trust their services?

I have been seeing Dr. Jack Lam with Rex Pain Management for just over a year. In 2017, I had…read morepost-op hernia pain that Dr Lam was treating by administering injections. At first, I doubted it would help at all, but by the third injection (3 months apart each) the pain is nearly nonexistent. Then, after a car accident mid-2018, I went back to see Dr Lam for spinal pain. I've only had one epidural with Dr Lam since then (Nov 2018), but his technique and results were phenomenal! Prior to seeing Dr Lam, I had previously been seen by Duke Pain and was prescribed extremely high doses of pain medication for a pre-existing condition and it took months to wean off all the opiates. (I purposely chose to wean off the opiates as the long term use kept life from being enjoyable. Life just becomes numb.) I was worried that Dr Lam would just write for more pills and send me on my way, but this is not his philosophy. He is conservative in his treatment algorithms, yet remains thorough, thoughtful and *gasp* he actually listens to his patients. Dr Lam treated me like an individual patient with unique needs, not just throwing the same treatments at each patient. I was most appreciative of the fact that he recommended several options for helping to manage my pain without writing a prescription for opiates. This is how medicine should be routinely practiced! Also, staff is always polite, professional and is respectful of my time when I've visited the office for appointments or procedures. If you want a pain management provider that will look you in the eye while you're speaking, will actively listen to your concerns and needs, and is highly experienced with providing conservative, yet effective, treatments for your pain, please consider making an appointment with Dr Lam. He's worth every minute of your time to meet him and see if he can help you, too.

They used to be very good but this Dr. Shaw I'm sorry but I don't want anything to do with him.
