I'm not sure what kind of games this company is playing, but i had inquired about purchasing a Nissan versa note from them. i had told them over the phone i was considering financing and even asked what i should bring with me since i am a first time buyer. well they had told me they would text me on a Sunday to set up an appointment to see the car on Monday, they never called or texted back. i even asked the guy over the phone, if they would be open on veterans day since it was a holiday and he assured me they would be. Well i had someone drive me from Livermore to San Jose just in case i did walkaway with the car since those were my intentions. Their site says they open at 10 am. we got there at 10:30 and the gates were still locked. so i called to make sure they were indeed open. The guy on the phone said Yes,and that the person opening up would be there soon, but that he was running late. That he had already spoken to him saying he was definitely on his way there it would only take ten minutes. So i waited, and waited. then i called again at 10:50 and again he said only five more minutes, to just wait. Well of course i waited i drove all the way over here, i wasn't just going to walk away. i even walked to car lot across the street and tooka look at those used cars. Then 11:15 or so came around and still nothing. and they have yet to call back to apologize or anything. Great reviews, i was hoping i would walk away with a cute new little car, but the level of professionalism and disrespect just made me turn away. i guess ill keep searching for a new car somewhere else. read more

Excuse my long rant: BUYER BEWARE!!!! I really liked this place at first! I had purchased my car in mid January of 2018. Had a smooth time with the purchase. As all reviews state - Nathan was great. Family seems very nice. The car has not had any mechanical issues to . My low review stems from the fact that they're trying to tell us we owe more money in order for them to register the car AFTER purchasing the car. Mind you I bought the car outright with a cashiers check. We paid the full amount which was stated on the sellers contract. Shortly after purchasing, they asked if we could take the car to CHP for a vin verification so they could complete the registration and since the car was purchased from out of state. Did that as requested and was told they'd register it the following week. We received the pink slip in the mail, but never received our plates. (Car was sold with paper plates) I figured they'd be sent separately, but months passed and still no plates. I texted them asking where the plates were and they told us that they had underestimated the cost of the registration, and that we owed them $113. I guess nobody was going to tell me this had I not texted asking where my plates are?! I was shocked as from my understanding once you purchase a vehicle the DMV fees are obviously included in the contract, which they are. I reviewed my contract once more, confirmed I did indeed pay the correct amount which I did as stated on the contact. When texting them, they then sent a picture of a paper which we signed that they themselves typed up (we signed so many that I didn't even read them through all the way. I know - rookie mistake) stating that they try their best to give an estimate for registration, but that sometimes it's not always accurate and that we are responsible for any remaining balance. On top of this, we only got a copy of the sales contract and not of this paper that we signed. I found out of this paper via a screenshot that they sent to me when I started questioning the fact that they're holding our plates hostage until we pay that. So now, here we are 4 months later. No plates, no reg. Now we are going to have to pay this $113. And honestly, the fact that they're asking for MORE money months later after we purchased the car is aggravating, but what irritates me more is the fact that they would have never even told us had I not texted asking where the plates were. I advise everyone, READ ALL PAPERWORK CLEARLY and I HIGHLY recommend not signing that form about the registration stating it's just an estimate. They have the tools and power to look up the exact fees right then and there - my older brother owns a used dealership now and confirmed this with me. Never have I had to sign that before when purchasing used cars through large dealerships. My brother who owns a dealership agrees that he would never go after someone for more money after they purchased the car outright. He actually recommended I report it to the DMV. He also informed me that you can log on and find the exact cost of the fees at the time of purchase as I also stated above. I agree that it was my mistake for not reading it through prior to signing but they still should have given us a copy of EVERY form we signed and not just the contract. I found it shady and unethical. I will say besides this, they are very professional and very kind people during the transaction. And as a dealership they should make a better effort to charge the CORRECT registration fees upfront rather then months after the purchase. I believe they purposely "underestimated" the fees to get it down to the price we wanted cause they knew we were a cash deal. *****Also, in regards to your response. Absolutely NOTHING was mailed to us whatsoever. Secondly, if what you say is correct and you did actually mail something "several" times you would assume as a business it would be followed up with phone calls had you guys not gotten any sort of response, which also wasn't done. This proves my point in the initial review that had I not contacted them they wouldn't of gotten a hold of us. You claim changes were made, what exact changes were made to fix these issues? Furthermore, you state you collect $300 up front as a "industry standard." Upon review of my contract, significantly less was collected which also proves my last point above that they were attempting to keep down the final cost so that they can walk away with the sale as we were very set on the amount we wanted to pay. As I stated, my brother recently bought a used car dealership and you can easily run an inquiry for DMV fees, it's called a CVR report and that is an industry standard at all dealerships - not automatically collecting $300 as an "estimate." With this, you will know exact costs of dmv fees so that the appropriate amounts are collected rather then estimating and collecting $300 upfront when it could be more or less than that. ***** read more

This review is about a year late, but I think it can help instill peace of mind for the long term car shopper. ​ When you buy from Slipstream, you are buying from the owner himself, Nathan. It was refreshing not to deal with the huge corporate hierarchy of a traditional dealership. The entire time, I felt like he worked with me rather than against me (like the financing dept. at Capitol Mazda). Nathan was direct in answering my questions and addressing my concerns about buying used. It was not long after the test drive that I was sold. The 2006 Accord was in absolutely fantastic condition and I made an offer. People still compliment me on how the car looks brand new. The buying process itself was quick and painless. Efficient. As it should be. There's no reason to take half a day to process the sale of a car. Nathan kindly offered to take us to his offices after hours to sign the papers. Time from test drive, until papers were signed: maybe 1.5 hours, if that. Thats all it should take. I highly recommend Nathan at SS to anyone looking for a quality used car without the BS. I will be balanced in my review. I responded to an ad for a low mileage Miata that was being presented by this business and also offered financing. I contacted them and was told this particular car was really a private sale for one of the owners. They were unsure if they could get their bank to assist in financing since it was not through the business. Hubby and I drove to their business location to at least see the car but there were no cars. It was just a small office space in a building. The cars are housed elsewhere. That made us a bit uneasy, but okay. We were told we would need to make an appointment and the car would be at one of 2 places depending on what we set up. We decided to take a step back for the moment. A couple of weeks later, the contact touched back with me to see if I was still interested. I explained we had wanted to see the car first but I also wanted to see if he would accept a cash offer for the car, if the vehicle with my approval. We discussed an amount a bit higher and I then asked about financing if he wanted a high amount. Again it was left at the same gray area place. So I won't way my experience was bad but it also was not good. If this was a private sale, it should have been advertised as such without any mention of "financing available".
