In due fairness, presenting a VERY average three stars for a very average experience. In fact, it was so average that two stars is tempting, but in reality, nothing was wrong. But there was not a single thing that was outstanding, not even above average. The chips are good, thin, crisp, restaurant style, but average. The chili relleno that was a side order, came uniquely presented as a cross section, vertical, rather than horizontal and it was very reminiscent of a stuffed bell pepper in presentation, although it had Mexican spiced ground beef and an over pouring of thin cheese sauce. Yes, it tasted very average, almost muted or bland in flavors. The alambre tacos (3) were slightly below average as the steak was not well trimmed and due to that extra fat, carried a slight gaminess in flavor that was occasionally overpowered by the bacon flavor. I'm spoiled by my regular visits to 4 Locos Tacos and their exceptional alambre tacos. I had not visited this restaurant in several years, we chose it in a Monday whim when our nearby first choice was closed. The interior is classic campy Mexican restaurant stereotypical decor. It also looks like it has not been updated since n years and is showing a lot of wear and tear. With this location, we were wondering why it was relatively empty during a weekday lunch hour. Now we understand. At least something could've been a stand out? But there wasn't any. Our service was fine, but also average. Prices were good, but it's also a catch-22 - lower prices for average food, well you do get what you are paying for in that sense. We had higher hopes due to the longevity of this restaurant in its space, yet we were met with a fading grand dame and the definite feeling that the "bloom is off the rose." It is doubtful we would ever return, given the much better nearby options in the same category. If it is any indication, it was actually debatable as to whether we should even bother with taking home leftovers, which we ultimately did, but they were passed over by the boys, and us. read more

Great food and atmosphere! They have a wide variety of Mexican food, all of which is absolutely delicious. The service is friendly and fast, and on Tuesdays they do a "Taco Tuesday" special! I have tried this place on Taco Tuesday three times now over the past few months, all takeout. So, my review is for takeout tacos only as I haven't tried anything else here. They have a $1.50 special on Tuesdays for 3 types of tacos: beef, chicken or bean with either a soft or hard shell (on this last trip they charged $1.74 for each taco because there is now a takeout fee). I have only tried the chicken and beef tacos. I don't care for the chicken tacos as the chicken is very stringy and not how I would make a chicken taco (I'd either have the chicken ground or cut into small strips/pieces). The beef filling was okay but rather ordinary. The big problem is with the taco shells; they are way too thin and fall apart even before any taco sauce is added. Every hard taco shell completely disintegrated at the bottom from the beef filling, so it was impossible to pick it up and eat it. This *might* be less of a problem in the restaurant if eaten within a few minutes of being served (I am about a 15-minute drive away). The soft tacos were a bit better but kind of a big globby mess in the tray with no segregation between the tacos (same with hard shell tacos but not as bad). They give you a small bag of tortilla chips but every time I've been there the chips are broken up into tiny crumb sized pieces as the chips are extremely thin as well. Again, things might be a bit better if eating in the restaurant, but tacos are one thing I would not order again here. Perhaps if they made the shells thicker, kept the fillings and lettuce separated so customers could combine them just before eating it this might work (the cheese would have to melted at home or a cheese sauce used instead). I'm still looking for a great Taco Tuesday place in the area, but this place is definitely not it. read more

My family and I came here on a saterday night. the serivce was was good but my food was cold and my daughter ordered a pizza which we found out was a microwave pizza for $6.50 cents. my sons burger had a burnt bun and overall the meal was not very good and the chicken was too chewy read more

We decided to try somewhere different for mexican food and wanted to come here. Our server was great. Super attentive and friendly. We got the chicken fajitas, kid's taco with rice and beans, and a burrito. All were really good and filling. I love how they give you regular and hot salsa in the bigger containers that you can refill yourself. I'll definitely come back! read more

I have previously had good meals at this restaurant. This last time though it was not at all the same. It looked and tasted like Parmesan cheese on my beans and enchiladas! Couldn't finish my meal because it was awful. Very little sauce on the enchiladas and a lot of RAW onions on top as you can see in the pic. Will not be back. read more

STRONG delicious margarita! Bartender does not skimp! So many places in Greenville we found you only taste the "mix" and not the tequila - not here. They're legit! Food & service was Very good!! I got the street tacos steak with cilantro & onions on soft corn tortilla. I asked for a "real Hot sauce" and they brought out a delicious super hot creamy habanero- extremely spicy & delicious! Only one complaint is my husbands burrito could have been a little warmer - although plate itself was very hot. Also, you may want to make sure to order 2 Burritos (as they are not huge) , next time he said he'd get the combo plate that contains 2. I ordered 2 steak nachos and a kids plain nachos. I always order the steak nachos from there and it comes with a plethora of things on it depending on what you order. Well today I put my order in for the same thing I get every time and it came with only chips and steak. Literally chips and steak! Nothing else. No beans, no salsa, no nothing that nachos consist of. I immediately called them and said, "This is not the nachos I always order. I specifically said I wanted everything on them but that the kids would be plain, not mine." Well whoever this "manager" was, he made them all plain and then when I said, "Well can I bring this back because it's not what I ordered or what I wanted?" He said, "I'd have to charge you again!" So not only did you screw me on an order but then you wouldn't rectify the situation for your customer who was willing to bring the order all the way back to you to show you YOUR mistake! You've just lost a loyal customer who orders at least twice a week with big family orders. More will leave if this is the way you treat your customers. Fix your mistakes when you make them and don't rely on the customers to have to pay again just to get their order right! Dirty business ethics! That's a $200 dollar A WEEK loss ($800 a month) on the managers part! Not good for business! read more

I've struggled with whether or not to write this review since I really don't want to write a negative review that may impact the livelihood of a family business. That said, I'm going to provide what I hope is a fair and balanced report. My family has eaten at Senor Salsa's probably 15 times (over 5 months) and had a top notch experience 14 of those times. The service those first 14 times was amazing. The servers are very attentive and the owner often comes by to make sure we are having a good meal. The food is very delicious, no frills but authentic mexican food on par with many of my favorite haunts back in phoenix where we recently moved from. Our last experience unfortunately changed my perception. We brought my visiting in-laws to our favorite mexican restaurant and my mother in law ordered fajitas. Upon lifting her fork, she found a huge clump of hair embedded in the meat. When I say clump, I mean a tangled coagulation of hair and meat. The entire staff was very apologetic and attentive, but what happened next was dissapointing. Instead of comping the whole meal, they only reduced our bill by 50%. Given the volume of hair and how skeeved out we were, i would have expected a full comp. If I were Senor Salsa, I would have gone so far as to throw in a gift certificate in the hopes that we would come back (industry standard right?) In the spirit of being fair and balanced, the staff explained that it was impossible this error was theirs given their quality controls. They said it must have come fom their meat supplier with said clump (although the hair was visible - thankfully) And so what WAS a loyal repeat family customer has found it really hard to return. Gonna keep this simple. 1. The good. They include chips and salsa with your meal when you order. 2. The waitress saw I finished them and brought out more while I was eating my meal. The bad. The sign mentioned drink specials, when I asked the waitress she said they were for happy hour. The ground beef tacos, I ordered had a steady stream of grease pouring out of them. It was a disgusting orange pool of slime left on my plate. The ugly. The taco shells were a day past stale. I made the mistake (?) of visiting this spot with a group of colleagues, one of whom had a deep passion for fine tequila. Of course he wanted nothing more than to share his appreciation of this potent liquor with his companions. Sr.Salsa does not care about its customers. I am going to encourage everyone not to go to this restaurant. They nickel and dime even their best customers. They messed up my order...didn't apologize and got me the correct order and then when I asked for my sour cream and Guacamole from my previous plate they said I would have to pay extra. My mouth dropped. The so called Manager (female) who is not the owner came over and got into my face about it. I told her to leave me alone and she said she would call the cops because I was yelling. Funny story is that I never yelled. I was rather pleasant comparatively. This is not a family friendly business at all. Avoid at all costs !!!! Their fish tacos are authentic, the chicken soup is REALLY good and their stuffed Poblano Peppers are delish! They have lunch specials, and the dinner prices are great too.
