I apologized and asked her if photos aren't allowed, and she said that photos are allowed, but I basically took pictures of all the plushies on the stand. I tell her I can delete the pictures, but she just tells me I can look up the plushies online instead of taking pictures of them here. She adds that I can even browse them online at 2am if I want to. I find my friend and leave. So much for browsing being free. I don't see how it's a good business practice to tell your customers that they should stop shopping at your store and instead shop online. I was trying to buy squishy needles for my two teenage children, who are only 13 and 14 years old. She refused to sell them to us because, according to her, they were "not kids." The way she handled the situation was unnecessary and made both of my children feel embarrassed, disappointed, and angry. Afterward, I called the store manager to share my concerns and provide feedback. Unfortunately, I felt that the manager didn't seem to care about my point of view or the fact that the interaction had hurt my family's feelings. The way we were treated left me feeling unwelcome. While I can't know the reason for how we were treated, the experience made me wonder whether bias played a role, and it left me feeling as though we may have been treated differently because of our race. No customer should leave a store feeling that way. I am without words after reading other reviews here, that totally make sense on our experience at this store. It is sad to see that my family and I are not the first and definitely not the last people that would have this type of experience at this store.
