Decided to stop and try this while out running errands. My wife got a waffle cone with caramel turtle fudge ice cream, I got a butterscotch shake. Both were delicious! The shake was smooth and creamy without being too thick to suck through a straw. After her first bite of the ice cream in her cone my wife declared Square Scoop to be her new favorite place for ice cream! Great place to stop for dessert if you're in the Fountain Square area. There's a bus stop for the new Red Line right across read more

Delicious hand dipped ice cream!! I visited Square Scoop last night for their Grand Opening and am so excited about this little shop. It is located in Fountain Square and has brought life back to a long time vacant store on the main drag. The store itself isn't very big and while the name suggests they only have ice cream, they also sell candy and a good selection of flavored sodas. They sell Sundaes Homemade Ice cream which is truly handmade one batch at a time & is some of the best ice cream around Indianapolis! I was glad to see a variety of flavors including Black Rapsberry Chocolate and Lemoreo (a lemon based ice cream with oreo pieces). I was truly surprised by how good this was! If you want a sample they are happy to let you try. They even had Sorbet and 2 different Vegan options. In addition to ice cream by the scoop you can get milkshakes, floats or sundaes. The prices were fair for a small ice cream shop downtown. They also have ample seating if you sit while enjoying your treats. It was such a beautiful evening we took ours outside and strolled around the square (hint: great date night idea). This is a fantastic addition to the Fountain Square neighborhood. Check them out today!! read more

I come here for the vegan ice cream all the time. The only thing that I would LOVE is if they had non-dairy milk for shakes! Other than that, everything is pretty fantastic. If you have dairy issues, the birthday cake is amazing and vegan. The service is always great and everyone is always smiling. That makes me feel great! Th aka for a great product and good service. read more

First, it's DELICIOUS. I'm a bit of an ice cream addict so I feel very qualified to make such a statement. Second, the flavors they keep in rotation are awesome. There is always something for everyone. Non dairy, GF, and vegan are always an option. They also have some of the nicest people ever on staff. My go to is a shake with Sticky Chewy Chocolate. If you like Ben and Jerry's chocolate fudge brownie you'll love it. read more

Square Scoop - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

this place is just the best. it has so many unique flavors, it makes someone who is almost always sick of ice cream excited to eat it. that person is me. i love trying their new flavors the rotate through really often. the staff are always super nice about giving you the samples. i normally take it to go but they do have a few tables for you to eat at. it's not a very big space but there's plenty of cool things to see if you take a stroll right outside. please come here whenever you are downtown and cravings something sweet!! read more

Had a fun time stopping in to Square Scoop for those grand opening! So glad to welcome more quality ice cream to downtown! Square scoop offers Sundae's ice cream, a local shop up in Giest area. I was a little bummed they weren't making their own but at least it's local! They also have tons of old and hard to fine candies and sodas which is really fun. It's the perfect location between the heart of Fountain square and Fletcher Place. Check it out! The Graham Central Station ice cream was delicious!! read more

Best ice cream in all of indy! Such unique flavors that will blow your mind. The service is impeccable and they will let you try different flavors to figure out your new favorite. Highly recommend the graham central station and lemon Oreo. You won't regret it! We love it so much that we even catered it at our wedding! read more

You want the true test of a pizza joint? Order a plain or a margarita pizza. You want to do that for an ice cream shop - test their vanilla ice cream. You'll get a quick sense of the quality of their ingredients! Within the first week of trying it out I've been back just to get another milkshake, the vanilla ones are that good! (It was not a warm day either when I went). The space itself is small but well organized, don't plan to sit with a large group. The line can get a little long depending on the orders but it's not an unpleasant space to wait with plenty of throwback candy favorites and an interactive photo booth to be silly at (or maybe the Stranger Things 'Scoops Ahoy' was a November First Friday thing?). Either way, bring a friend and have a good time! read more

My wife and I were looking for an ice cream shop In FS and were pleasantly surprised to find this gem. The shop is updated, clean, and simple. My wife had the cinnamon graham cracker ice cream with waffle cone and I had the mint cc. We will def return, the ice cream was delicious, staff extremely friendly and prices reasonable. Glad to see the resurgence of FS! read more

I cannot say enough times how this place is my number one recommendation to take someone in Indianapolis. I'm like a 5/10 ice cream fan. Except for this place. Im 10/10 addicted. I have weathered snow, sleet, rain, blazing heat, skipped class, and been late for meetings for this ice cream. It has so much flavor. The flavor is matched by perfect mix in to flavor ratios. The flavor combos are unique and ever changing. I love this place. Go here. Their website has activities. Who doesn't love that? read more

Very cute, hole in the wall place. I had no idea this place existed but I was walking by with a group of friends and we (okay, I convinced them) decided to go in. Wide variety of unique flavors. I got the Graham central station and it was very good. I was debating between this kind and the raspberry chocolate truffle and the server recommended the Graham Central but offered a small scoop of the raspberry on top so I could try it. Both were delicious and unique. Portions are huge too! The server told me they are a newer business that started not long before COVID and when COVID hit, the business took a hit but they are hoping for a good summer! I told them I would tell my friends about them so... here you go friends! If you're in Fountain Square, make sure to check out Square Scoops! Perfect place for ice cream lovers and if you don't like ice cream, they also have candies and sodas for sale too! read more

A must try ice cream spot if you are around the fountain square area! Sticky chocolate (think that's what it's called) was great!

Sweet old time ice cream scoop shop. The weather is getting warmer and you must make this place a go to all summer!

If you want the best ice cream you've ever had, served by just the nicest people, this is it. We LOVE this place. I've never had a bad flavor, in fact sometimes it's hard to choose my favorite because they're all so good. They always give us whipped cream for our doggos too. Oh and chocolate covered espresso beans, enough said. Can't say enough great things about this place, I wish I could give more than 5 stars. If you haven't been, go now. read more

Best ice cream shop in town. Great selection of flavors, tasty ice cream, and always the best service!

When there is finally a local ice cream place in FS, you have to celebrate it!! I love square scoop and legit am so happy they have opened their doors. I went on opening day and I did not experience any wait time. Even the times I've gone after that, I am usually in and out in about ten minutes. Their ice cream flavors are all delicious and they offer vegan options! It is RARE to find ice cream shops in Indy with vegan options. I personally LOVE the chocolate vegan flavor but the birthday cake is good as well. I hope they flourish and stay open for a long time! Fountain Square needs this! read more

Really happy that this place opened in fountain square! Perfect place fo come to after eating or getting glass of wine from wine market. I like sundaes ice cream decently (which is what they use) and like how they also have a solid amount of candies as well. Kind of difficult to find if one did not know where to look for it. Even standing across the street at the wine market, my wife and I could not tell if it was even open. Other patrons had the same problem (is next door to city dog btw). Otherwise will definitely be back as is very convenient shop and something fountain sq was missing. read more

Lovely new old-fashioned ice cream shop in Fountain Square. Come for the delicious, locally made ice cream. Come back for the vintage candy and sodas (or have a float made). Non-dairy options and seating available. Staff was more than willing to let us try multiple flavors even when we visited near closing time on a Sunday evening. Will be back! read more

Best ice cream!!!! Got two pints to go: honey lavender and espresso with chocolate chips. Both were so good. Would love to go back and try all the other flavors. So excited to have this place in fountain square. Love the variety, love the ice cream, love this place and highly recommend to everyone! read more

We arrived on Sunday at around 4pm and it is a small quaint establishment with 3-4 tables with limited seating. The store was very clean and the bathroom were very clean as well. When we walked up to the counter we were greeted but 2 lovely ladies (employees) and they asked what we would like. They let us have samples to see what flavors were best for us. And they also gave us tips on what flavors are the most popular. So as we were paying we needed a receipt and apparently the manager need to help with that so he came out of the back and he wasn't mean but he wasn't as nice as one could've been. He didn't smile or tell us to have a nice day come back soon or anything. But the employees did. I enjoyed the sodas and the candies but the lighting was a little strange it was sort of dim kind of like mood lighting. I certainly will return the ice cream was so delicious and you get your monies worth. read more

My husband and I stopped here and on a BLAZING hot day. I had a scoop of the black raspberry cheesecake. My husband had a scoop of the key lime pie. (I should stop here and say I am an ice cream snob. Y'all, I got some serious high expectations.) This ice cream was soooooo good. The staff was super friendly and efficient. We will be back for sure! read more

Square Scoop is a hidden gem in FS. It has easily become my most favorite ice cream shop. They update the flavors daily and post to social media often! LOVE everything I've tried! read more

Cute little ice cream stop in fountain square! The girl who helped me was very nice and let me try a sample first. I got the lemon Oreo which was surprisingly really tasty and creamy. They also serve an array of good sodas like jones. They have a good candy selection too including albanese gummy bears, chocolate covered cashews, malt balls, and a few other items. Great spot to stop after a lunch or dinner and continue your walk around fountain square! read more

Sadly, the scoops aren't actually square. Big let down for me. Great ice cream though!

We stopped in for the first time on a whim on a random Thursday. We were incredibly surprised by the quality of ice cream, size of servings, and the customer service. We're looking forward to stopping by again. read more

It's not everyday that I come across a local spot that has vegan options (apart from the grocery store), but Square Scoop has multiple delicious vegan ice cream options and honestly- flavor and texture were spot on! Had I not known, I wouldn't have guessed it was vegan. Definitely check it out! The staff is very friendly and will give you samples (multiple, if you ask nicely!) read more

Delicious ice cream, great vegan options and a very friendly staff. Cute spot in Fountain Square to grab a cold treat and walk around the area! read more

So excited to stop by this new addition to Fountain Square! It was fairly busy as they've just opened up but they have plenty of seating and staff to take care of you. I love the vibe of this place because they have old-fashioned sodas, lemonade and candy as well as dessert including ice cream, sundaes, and floats! Best part is you can choose a soda for your float - not just root beer floats! They have some unique flavors like the LemOreo which is kind of a shock to me because I am not usually a fan of Oreos or lemon flavored ice cream but I got to say is definitely unique and worth trying. The staff is extremely friendly and happy to explain their menu to you. My only gripe is the hours seem to be a little strange but I'm chalking that up to the fact that they've just opened up and I'm sure it will change once they're in business longer. All in all I think this is a great little ice cream joint and I am excited that we have more options around Fountain Square now! read more

Delicious local ice cream. Just what FSQ needed. Convenient to both the redline and Cultural Trail. Butterscotch malt was fantastic.

This place is awesome! I had a half scoop of key lime pie and orange pineapple. I never go outside the box when it comes to ice cream, but the guy that was behind the counter was so awesome and encouraged me to try different items. He was really great and made the experience even that much better! The ice cream was absolutely delicious, especially the key lime pie, that had swirls of graham cracker crust. I will definitely come back when I need an ice cream fix!! read more

Thank God more ice cream shops are opening downtown Indy! I was very pleased to see that Square Scoop was open in Fountain Square bc who doesn't want to top off their meal at La Margarita or Siam Square with an ice cream treat! Square Scoop fits the Fountain Square vibe, it has a small selection of very good ice creams, and the quality of the ice cream is great. I had the dark chocolate raspberry and very much enjoyed! read more

We tried it tonight for the first time and it was really good. The employees were w little frazzled since there were so many customers. Their mint choc chip is great as is their chocolate. They have a great selection of sodas. The waffles cones were good Overall we will be going back! read more

This ice cream is so yummy! I got the vegan birthday cake and the pumpkin! Pumpkin is by far the best!

Not a large variety, but the quality was good. Cute wall art of game boards mostly of yesteryears.

We came in for ice cream today, and I don't know who served us, but the lady in the 'You matter' hat made me feel like I mattered. I have a food allergy, and it can be time consuming and inconvenient to check labels and make sure that the ice cream that I would like to order is safe for me to eat. The line was through the door, but she knew right away which ice creams were safe, and she cheerfully and efficiently cleaned the ice cream scoop and double checked the label on the ice cream that I wanted. Thanks, Square Scoop. The lady in the 'you matter' hat made my day. read more
