Tried Square Burger in downtown McKinney today and honestly it's the kind of place you hope to randomly discover. Nothing pretentious, just really good burgers done right. The first thing you notice is how simple everything is--in a good way. The burger is smashed perfectly so the edges get that crispy crust, but the inside stays juicy. The bun is soft, the toppings are fresh, and everything just works together without trying too hard. I went with a Smoky Burger and fries. The burger had that great balance of salty, cheesy, and beefy flavor, and the cheese was melted exactly how it should be. The fries were hot, crispy, and the kind you keep eating even when you're already full. The vibe is super laid-back too. Feels like the kind of spot you can roll into with friends, grab a burger, laugh a bit, and not feel rushed. No gimmicks--just good food and a chill atmosphere. If you're into simple, well-made smash burgers, Square Burger is definitely worth the stop. I'll be back for sure.

Food was delicious! My husband had the Mushroom Burger. He liked it very much. I had the Fish and chips but subbed for the Onion rings. The fish was very good. They use a beer batter. Light and fluffy. Delicious! There is a new dessert available. It is a delightful chocolate cake. It tastes like Grandma's!

Paul our server was great. The food was fantastic. The prices were very reasonable. I would say if I lived here this place would be a regular stop for me.

Set in quiet, unhurried oldtown McKinney, nice minimalist dream spot. Just step in, pick a seat, and drink order taken almost as soon as you sit. Server greets you nicely. Laid back 70s rock playing... Doobie bros., Chicago, love the vibe of soft 70s rock? This is heaven.. "Momma Told Me Not to Come".. is playing now. Mine didn't tell me not to come here. Had she, I would've anyway. It's Sunday, but they have a nice little crowd. This means they must be serving up good eats. Wife order a classic cheeseburger, I ordered a BBQ cheddar with onion strings. Will let you know after what the flavors were like. Pictures do not do the big burger taste justice. As gorgeous as they look, they taste 1000% better. Onion straws? Perfectly seasoned, not salty, not greasy at all. Perfectly done. Came out to view new homes in Melissa. Sadly, unless we buy out here, we won't be able to just drive the hour from Hurst for this burger. If you live within a half hour, well worth it. Peace y'all.

What a great surprise trying Square Burger for the first time. Went against grain and ordered a cheesesteak with side salad. The beef was flavorful and tender and the French role was nicely toasted and flakey. You can't have a good cheesesteak without a great roll. To top it off, i also had sweet potatoes fries - so delicious. I will certainly go back again.

Love this place. Every other place was packed so we stumbled upon this gem. There is ample outdoor and indoor seating. They have a full bar and a large menu full of options. I typically don't eat beef burgers so I opted for the tuna burger! Wow it's was so flavorful and the waiter was right; it tasted like sushi. The sweet potato fries were bomb. Better than the regular fries. The service was great and good came out quickly even with it being a busy Saturday. Overall looking forward to coming back. Such a good place for families and friends to gather. Very laid back atmosphere.

Okay, so we didn't actually eat here tonight.... We sat down, got a couple waters and looked over the menu and we just weren't feeling it. It didn't seem like the burgers came with any sides, so a side of French fries were $3-6 extra. However, the waiter was fast and friendly. We might give this place another shot some other time. But tonight it just didn't do it for us.

Some of the best thin sweet potato fries I've had and I've tried a bunch. One order is enough for two.

The fries were stale and the burger patty did not taste like traditional Texas meat. Plus the fact we had to pay extra for our stale fries.

Ask the Community - Square Burger

Do you have a turkey burger or veggie burger?

Yes, there is a delicious turkey burger on the menu. If you're looking for non-beef options, you can also try the salmon burger or the spicy tuna burger. Note that these are all made in-house from fresh ingredients - no manufactured, pre-formed…

Are there any gluten free options? Are the French fries fried with gluten items?

I'm curious if you have any vegan friendly options or options that can be altered to be made vegan? Vegan = NO animal products... No milk, no butter, no meat, no cheese, no egg, no animal stock, no fish sauce, etc. THANK YOU! :)?

Made to order!!!

What drew me is I remembered having eaten a great burger from a place in the area a long while ago…read more The pictures of burgers looks good and the name sounded right so we stopped by. The parking lot was like what I remembered but inside was a different layout so I am not sure if it was the same spot. Anyway, prices were very reasonable! When the food came out, we could immediately see it passed the eye test--cheese drizzling, real meat, grilled bun. First bite was excellent--I could taste the grilled bun, the flavor of the burger and even the crisped grilled parts of the meat. All other bites, just the same. Had me audibly saying "yum". On top of that, they offered horchata to drink and it was delicious. The fries weren't only well seasoned but they also had an usual kick of heat. This will be my go-to burger spot when I'm in the Garland area. Thanks for being great and charging fairly!

Lots of drink options from the standard soft drinks, iced tea, fruit drinks and horchata! The service is fast, friendly and helpful! The burgers and fries are the stars. I had the Big House combo (Massive, 3 patties with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo and mustard). it includes a drink and fries. Really good fries. There are more reasonable big burgers, but my hunger was unreasonable and I needed a burger that was too big to eat, a knife and fork burger. The flavor was absolutely spot on! I'm guessing each patty was a 1/2 pounder. perfectly caramelized, moist, beefy. Price was VERY reasonable. Yes, no burger was left behind. I did go home and take a long nap afterwards :)

I want to love this place. I really do, but with so many nice or better burger options available,…read moreI'm just going to say I will choose somewhere that offers medium rare burgers or hits high on the napkins quotient (as in, how messy and greasy it - the more, the better). Rodeo Goat seems more of a schtick theme. We started with the "Steaming Pile," which is basically characterized as bacon-cheese tots with additional goat cheese & a sunny side up egg. The egg was properly cooked. The portion was small for $10. It's really not a shareable size for more than two light eaters. There was zero hint of truffle oil. The Cowboy Cobb salad was a healthy portion, and all was good except for two things: the "jalapeño croutons" were not crispy in any way - they were like what would happen if a mushy hush puppy and tempura batter had a love child and it wrapped itself around an uncivilized jalapeño trying to socially climb. The second was that the burger patty had no cheese (why bother?) & I know it was an add-on. I ordered the Inspector Clousseau. Not much of a smash on the over-cooked patties. And, yes, I know what to expect from smash burger, but again, these patties were two the thickness of anything I've ever seen called a smash burger. More importantly, the pan sauce poured over the entire plate was cold and congealed. Generally, the flavor was okay. The service was nice, but at premium prices, I'm looking for elevated effort from the kitchen.
