And, the manager didn't seem interested in customer feedback disappearing during this proceds. The most unfortunate thing is they didn't comp the meal but only wanted to send a steak home to- go after all their mistakes and everone else had finshed their meals. I guarantee that will be the last time we visit Mascoutah Steak House. It's sad since it's one of the restaurants I look forward to when visiting the area. But, never again. Customers should leave feedback before the restaurant fails. So sad.

Every table was full, which makes me smile, it being a small town business!! Such a difference in this visit from a few months ago! Our waitress, Lexi, catered to our every whim without hesitation. She was friendly, explained items on the menu, and we had 5 star service from her!!! Every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection! Fried chicken, moist with crunchy seasoned coating, not greasy at all! We also had top notch, hand breaded mushrooms and zucchini. Wow!! To die for!! I couldn't eat my chicken tortilla soup; it was too spicy for my taste. Lexi kept our drinks refilled, the owner brought us towels to dry ourselves with from the downpour we were in! Quaint, friendly local restaurant! We are proud of them!!!

I walked in and was overwhelmed by the sight of a large bookcase containing dozens of varieties of pre-packaged ramen. That wasn't the kind of soup I had in mind (because...pre-packaged ramen), but I thought I would give it a shot because I didn't feel like driving anywhere else. Apparently customized ramen is a cultural phenomenon that I was unaware of. The owners walked me through the process. You pick your ramen. You pick your toppings (meats and veggies). You take your "kit" to the ramen cooking machine and make your soup. I ended up being very happy with the results. The soup was tasty. The place was new and clean. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Five stars.

Waitress does not deliver food, just takes orders...Also, they don't put napkins under cold drinks so the condensation water is all over table...didn't ask if we wanted anything like dessert or more drinks, she just plopped down receipt before we were down eating sandwiches and ran off. We never did figure it out, but on the way back to I-64 we decided to have some Chinese at China King. Is China King a big chain? There is one with he same name in Kill Devil Hills, NC where we had just driven from. I suppose there are only so many words that they can find to put before or after China and a few are bound to be repeated. We both had chicken dishes. I will say the lunch portions are pretty large and modestly priced. I don't recall what exactly I had but Ms T had her usual Broccoli Chicken. I wanted plenty of vegetables, some chile heat and a sauce that was not sweet. So I told the lady that and that is what I got. I'm tired of accidentally getting the super sweet sauces and the battered, fried chicken and no vegetables. It is best to just ask. The food was OK and as I said, plentiful. But it was pretty bland and boring. Extra spicy was not spicy at all. The sauces were pretty light without much flavor. The vegetables were crisp and also generous. So, the food was not bad, just not remarkable. In a larger city, I would rate this two stars, but In New Baden with limited choices for Chinese, I guess I will round up to three.
