I don't know what they do when they get busy. My girlfriend reported that her latte was fine, so I guess that's the conclusion. Pretty average.

We were surprised to find it very crowded at 4pm when we visited. There's a small area at the front of the restaurant and a lot of folks were gathered there waiting for their tables. It took several minutes before the hostess checked us in and let us know it would be a few minute wait. A bit later we were guided to our seats. I appreciated that they took trouble to make it feel like a special experience - with white tablecloths, decor and the cutlery. They seemed a bit short staffed that day so our server was helping out many tables. He was very helpful in explaining the menu, though we did have to ask specifically to receive the full tea menu. We decided on a few teas to share - a spiced white chocolate white tea, rooibos chai, and a hibiscus cooler (iced and non-caffeinated). The spiced white chocolate was fantastic. I wasn't as much of a fan of the rooibos but if you like less sweet teas this is a good choice. The hibiscus cooler was delicious and refreshing, and I liked that they let us take it to go! Our amuse bouche came out first - a delicious pumpkin seed savory small soup and it was fantastic. We eagerly awaited our tea tower - and it certainly did not disappoint! We are still thinking about the delicious spinach and artichoke pinwheel with olive tapenade - it was our absolute favorite. The savory sandwiches were also delicious. We especially enjoyed the clotted cream and lemon curd with the scone, and the desserts were delectable. We were stuffed by the end of our teatime! Our server was very helpful and despite it being very busy, we felt taken care of. I think this is a very worthwhile experience - the tea, sweets, and savories are all delicious and definitely worth checking out!

Unfortunately, our last visit changed our opinion completely. I watched the barista drop the ice scoop on the floor, pick it up, and then immediately use it to scoop ice into my drink. When I politely asked her to remake it, I was met with a passive-aggressive attitude. Mistakes happen, but using a utensil off the floor in a customer's drink should never be acceptable in food service--especially right in front of the customer. It also makes me question what kind of food-safety training employees receive. And this is exactly why I dislike being asked to tip before receiving the service. It's disappointing because we really liked this place and had been coming here for years. But after seeing this, we won't be coming back.

this place is a rare treat. i bring my kids here, i meet friends here. i am in love with their coffee, kaladi coffee. the pastries are consistently delicious. me and all my friends typically buy birthday cakes here. the outdoor patio is special, and they recently added some heaters outside which is nice. it's a really tried and true establishment, almost 20 years old now i just learned. i wish they had wifi, sometimes, but i do love to go to the trident for computering. it's kind-of cool to have a place in town, that isn't shouting out wifi, i guess. it's also an awesome place to get lunch, it's not just a sweets bakery. the housemade buffalo chili is my favorite. and it's impossible not to mention their from scratch mocha mix they use in their hot chocolate and mochas. yep. pretty darn good place. read more

Spruce is just down the hill from my house, so it naturally is my coffee shop of choice, especially in nice weather in Boulder. When the trees leaf out and the weather is a cozy 70 degrees, this is one of the most relaxing places to sip on an espresso, read in my book, nibble on a scone and let the day drift! If you like to people watch, then this is a great destination as the West end of Pearl is always filled with interesting people walking and biking around. To the owners: put out more water for the puppies...to often I see an empty or no water bowl, yet 2-3 dogs hanging out (or worse: tied up to a tree)). Great place! read more

I came the next day to see if they had set it aside, would give me a burrito on the house or at least a partial discount. She was uninterested. She said I'll give you 10% and it's not their responsibility to reimburse. That may be true, however I told her I have spent a lot of money here and will continue to do so, unless I'm not offered a nice deal for my business. She was again not impressed and didn't give one crap I said what I said politely however she couldn't care less about my business. So, as I told her, I will never be back and you can enjoy losing thousands of dollars of my business and I always tip 20+%. I have spent well over $1000 at this place over the years and now come here 1-5x/wk. I also have new work starting next door so I would've been coming here to spend thousands more over the next few years. I'm a massage therapist who care greatly about his clients and I would NEVER do business this way. The food/ costs are very low to keep a customer happy and coming back to spend thousands more. If you care about business integrity and appreciation, I recommend going elsewhere. In addition, I will be telling my business associates next door and another who works a few blocks away about my experience. Every chance I get with our open house coming up and all clients I see in the area will be told about alternatives to this business. Very skinny young woman, with long hair, tattoos, sparkly eye paint was the one I spoke with today at 2:10pm.
