Upon first walking in, I was happy that I checked yelp to find an ice cream shop after hiking the Billy Goat Trial at Great Falls. The place was the cool little local ice cream shop that others described. Then the reality of the store set in. The guy serving ice cream was incredibly condescending. I saw him do this to two separate customers, where he was being extremely difficult. One customer asked for a chocolate milkshake, and the server asked in excruciating detail what the guy wanted, when all he wanted was a plain chocolate milkshake. Then the next woman went through the same experience. She was with a little kid who just wanted soft serve. The server, again, kept asking what kind of soft serve? Tart soft serve, vanilla soft serve, frozen yogurt? It's a kid, they wanted a regular vanilla soft serve. All of this with a huge condescending tone, like the server couldn't believe these customers were so stupid to not know how to order. Anyways. So then our turn comes up. Thankfully we have a different woman serve us. The ice cream was good, somewhat chewy in consistency. But... it was $12 for a sundae + a soft serve with sprinkles. Really?! Seems kinda steep for ice cream for two. High prices, rude service, and good, but not great, ice cream mean that I won't be coming back here again. read more

Was looking for a new ice cream place to try out tonight and stumbled across Sprinkles through Yelp. Decided to give it a try and it was AWESOME! First, everyone working there is super friendly. There are also a ton of ice cream options with some funky cones. If you aren't in the mood for ice cream, you can order a smoothie and even pressed juices. 09/25/2022 I had a very unsatisfactory, seemingly dishonest experience at Sprinkles Potomac on River Road today. I ordered a non-fat chocolate soft serve cone. The employee went to the soft serve machine, struggled with it and finally communicated that they were having trouble with the non-fat chocolate machine today. I then said, ok, I'll take the vanilla. Same deal...a no go with the vanilla. The machine spurted out a tiny amount that the employee was putting into an extremely tiny cup...not a cone that I had ordered. Strike two. I was asked if I wanted another soft serve option. I wasn't interested in Oreo or Coffee flavors. At that point, I kindly asked for my money back. Then the female employee spoke briefly with another employee who told me that Sprinkles does not offer refunds. What appears to me as being dishonest is that the employees seemingly knew that the soft serve machines were not functioning, allowed me to place my order and made several mistakes with the alternate order that I was forced to make because of the "no refund policy". We had been to Sprinkles years ago and had a very positive experience. I'm very disappointed and not satisfied about this experience. Also, bring your pocketbook. Two cones cost $16.44!!! My friend had ordered two scoops of mint chocolate chip ice-cream in a sugar cone, and I ultimately HAD to order one scoop of hard chocolate ice-cream with rainbow sprinkles (the sprinkles I was given were purple and pink from a large open container to the left of the non-functioning soft serve machines). Needless to say, we won't be back. Pleasing a customer, being honest and putting an "out of order" sign on the machines so that a paying customer wouldn't be misled, or refunding me my money when they could not deliver what was requested, were not at the top of the list for Sprinkles Potomac in Maryland. read more

Sprinkles has become so overpriced. For 2 mediums we paid $12+ and smalls would have been .60 less. The yogurt and ice cream is good but seems like a lot for a small amount of the treats - though I can only imagine what they pay in rent. I love taking my kids to Sprinkles! First off, the ice cream and deserts are delicious. Super cute decorated cakes and pies. I plan on coming back and picking up one for Easter. Secondly, the little gifts they have available for purchase are great! I picked up a mug for my friend and she loves it! I saw other reviews mentioned the new management and I have to say that I found the new owner to be wonderful. She was helpful when I asked questions about the cakes and was very sweet to my children. I work in Gaithersburg and live in Columbia. Driving to Sprinkles for a family treat was well worth the trip! We are very much looking forward to going back for my oldest daughter's birthday and it will definitely be our end of the school year celebration spot! read more

How can you make a kid cry? Give her terrible ice cream! We took my niece in for a small treat after school. Little did I know it would lead to a huge mess. First, since when is a single scoop cone $6??? Really? Way to pillage the adults while giving the kids a crappy sugar high. Next, the ice cream was melting before she hit the door!! All over her hands, face, clothes, and my car. (No good deed goes unpunished) We went back inside to show him and he just looked at us. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and although the ownership has changed, I think the ice cream quality has very much stayed the same. My favorite flavor is the chocolate fudge brownie ice cream. It's a great place to go and grab a delicious treat after a hike on the C&O Canal. More recently when I visited, they also have quite a few frozen yogurt flavors available in addition to ice cream, and they sell a variety of gifts and home items within the store. I love that their frozen yogurt and ice cream toppings are all in scoop-free dispensers because it avoids cross contamination of allergens and also enforced utmost cleanliness between servings of toppings. They also had quite a few cute "dog" themed gifts that I'll be sure to take a look at on my next visit. The two employees that helped me with my order last visit were super friendly and diligent to my allergy requests, even going in the back of the store to check for a clean ice cream tub of the flavor I wanted to avoid cross contamination. I really do enjoy coming here for ice cream when I'm in the Village and I will continue to return! Sprinkles is a Potomac favorite for ice cream and I do recommend you try them out the next time you are nearby! read more

Here goes my sad review. My friend assumed this was like the Sprinkles in Georgetown. I insisted it was not. The storefront looks nothing like the other place. Place was empty. Two people in the store carrying on a conversation. A customer and I believe it was and the owner or manager. Not very friendly. We weren't greeted. In fact, it seemed like we interrupted their conversation. I'm sorry manager that you had to get up to make it behind the counter to help us, customers. #notsorry. So my friend, asked if they are related to the other place and gets a no. No welcoming feeling. Place was cluttered with junk and no labels. We asked if they had cupcakes and they did. I was expecting to see nice had decorated cupcakes like Baked and Wired or even worse GC. We were shown some cupcakes that looked like something you would buy at a bake sale. Owner/ manager said someone outside the store makes them. My friend still wanted a cupcake. I bought one so she wouldn't eat alone. We both got vanilla cupcakes. Nothing special and not worth it, especially for the lousy service. The cupcakes were expensive for something that looked that came from a bake sale. Best ice cream and candy/bakery store in all of Maryland! Great products- fantastic service and the new merchandise is really great! I love the chocolate peanut butter cups and their new 3D icing cakes. They are so insanely good! The 3D dog and fire hydrant was hilarious! I want one for my birthday this summer. Went in at 5pm on a Sunday after an afternoon of hiking. The line was nonsensical in this shoebox ice cream shop and the staff didn't seem to use your spot in line to determine the order in which you were served. I placed what I thought was a noncontroversial order, two vanilla soft serves in cake cones, one with sprinkles. The employee hands me the first cone and explains "it's too soft, I don't want to dip it in the sprinkles. Is it okay without the sprinkles?" This is more of a statement than a question, because when I ask if she can use a spoon to place the sprinkles on the cone, she says "no." So fuck you, too, Sprinkles. This is America. If I'm paying $10 for two cones of soft serve I don't want to hear about your sprinkle struggle. ITS IN YOUR NAME, you should be able to figure it out. read more

Mmm Sprinkles is my only savior in Potomac, MD since Potomac doesn't have any ice cream chains (Baskin Robins or Coldstones)!! I am always craving ice cream! Now more than ever since the colder weather is slowly creeping in (don't ask why, but I crave cold things when it's freezing outside). I always have to do a quick stop here when I notice the neon light reading OPEN on. Inside the small Potomac Village storefront, you will find groups lingering over their ice cream late into the day, as the store closes when the crowd dies down. Beyond the family owned charm of Sprinkles, a rarity in a market dominated by chain-stores like Baskin Robin's and Coldstone, there is one defining menu item: Oreo Frozen Yogurt. Smooth, creamy, chocolatey, and addictive, Sprinkle's Oreo frozen yogurt is one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. A must-get if you decide to make the trek. Coming from someone who used to work at this place, which might make me pretty bias, i love it. Its been in potomac village for as long as I can remember. They get great ice cream, great bagels, doughnuts and have good frozen yoghurt. The prices are decent, in comparison to other major ice cream store chains, where you cant get stuff at breakfast time that is any good. (well maybe d&d). The Ice cream is alright, it didn't totally wow me, but it wasn't terrible. The flavors weren't labeled, so I had to ask, and since it was extremely crowded, it was hard to get through the press of customers to see all that was on display. For some weird reason, this place and one other place I've been to recently heat the brownies in their brownie sundaes, which results in a bit of a mess of melted ice cream soup. Most other places I've been to haven't done this, so I'm going to have to start asking for unheated brownies. On the other hand, I also tried a doughnut, and that was excellent. If/when I visited here again, I think I'm going to have to try a doughnut sundae. Note of warning: since this place is extremely busy and is super tiny, getting it to go and finding a place to go elsewhere to eat your ice cream is recommended. I was having such a bad day yesterday even though the weather was wonderful. I saw some folks walking around the little shopping center with cones and went on a chase to find the ice cream. The shop is small and crowded. Reminds me of the ice cream shops you find in the Northeast, PA/NY. Their customer service is good. They kept things moving in that tiny shop full of customers. This is by far my favorite fro yo EVER...above all of the fro yos & designer fro yos (pinkberry etc) I've come across, sprinkles is still the best. I make the 20 minute drive out Bradley from my parents house when I'm visiting to the village specifically for sprinkles fro yo. Brings me back to my high school days. For over 29 years we've brought ourselves, our kids, our family and friends to Sprinkles and enjoyed all of the treats - the non-fat yogurt, the cookie dough with rainbow sprinkles, the parfaits, the bagels and the donuts. My kid is turning 27 tomorrow, and her only wish was to have Sprinkles. Tonight driving in the pouring rain, I asked Siri to call Sprinkles because I was going to miss the 10 o'clock closing, and low and behold, he answered and stayed open. We all take for granted that we have such a special little treats store in our neighborhood. The owner said he thought he'd only last 3 to 4 years, but all the years I've lived in the neighbor, Sprinkles has been in the village. We are so lucky. He only deserves 5 stars. Small place, tricky to find. It's in the plaza and around the corner from the bakery - so when I parked there I had to explore to find it. The ice cream is good, it's from Thomas Sweet in DC. Their pistachio is gooooood - it's not dyed green and it has whole pistachios in there. I was full by the end of my small cone. Portions are generous. It's a little awkward of a setup - they ask you what you want before you actually get up to the ice cream counter. One of the best frozen yogurt places I've been to. Tons of flavors available and decent prices. I had the vanilla-oreo flavor and it was fantastic. I got the kiddie cup which was an extremely reasonable price. I live in Centreville, VA so I don't get out to Potomac much. Wish a place like this would open near us. We only have Pinkberry where there is not a good selection of flavors and the prices are sort of expensive. My mom got the chocolate-oreo flavor. A friend of mine and I stopped in here after I took him to Great Falls. It was hot outside. We needed to cool down. We ordered an ice cream each. I asked the lady for a water. She must have seen the sweat pouring down my face because she handed me 2 big plastic cups and told me the water was up front. I filled our water cups and I drained the dispenser. I told the man that it was empty. He said ok, but I should use the smaller cups provided. I informed him that the lady gave them to us. He said ok but didn't seem happy I had a big cup. I drank 3 cups of the big cup of water. I must have been dehydrated. I needed the water. I was so grateful that I thanked the lady for providing the bigger cup and not the Dixie cup which I didn't see until I got to the dispenser. Next weekend, I picked up my family from a 2 day, many mile bike ride. The rode up the big hill from Great Falls and met me in the bank parking lot to load the bikes. They wanted ice cream. They asked to go to Burger King to get soft serve. Yeech! I suggested Sprinkles. I said, there's a great ice cream place across the street and they're very nice and the ice cream is great. So, off we went. Everyone got scoop ice cream and I got an ice cream sandwich from the freezer. Yum! I asked the man if the lady from last weekend was there. He was the guy who had told me to use the Dixie cups. I told him I had returned because of how well she had treated me. He seemed very happy. He texted her and told her I had returned because she was so kind. This is a Mom and Pop place. Yes, it's small. Other reviewers complain about the size. Hush up! They say it's overpriced.
