This facility is kept very clean and the staff is attentive. I witnessed the interaction referenced by a previous tenant Kathy R in a review below, and can only say that tenant was completely out of line, as the assistant manager went above and beyond to call repair technician for a door that appeared to have been rolled too far, and this tenant literally called right at closing. I heard the assistant say she had another job to be at, and yet she still called several after hr repair places on the weekend, and inky one was willing to come. This tenant yelled at the assistant, tking her she herself either had to fix it or wait with her things all night (!) The assistant then called her higher management, and neither the manager or her district manager were willing/able to come on site. This tenant even asked me to help roll down her door (I was wearing a cast!) This tenant even called police and lied to the assistant, telling her police says she had to stay with her items and were sending a patrol response lol, yet when the assistant called SPD they told her the dispatcher in fact told the tenant they don't get involved in tenant problems and weren't sending anyone. The tenant was very verbally aggressive, and the assistant still remained professional. All I know is I saw her tell the tenant she wanted to help, had to get to another job, and the tenant was welcome to stay with her things til the technician arrived. Secure yes, Got it only for one year a 5x5 and from $60 we end up paying a little more of $140 We try to call and cancel for more than a moth and nobody will answer. Because of work we never found anyone in the office and finally after we move they asked for 30 day notice that we were not aware since the beginning of the contrat So they are asking us to pay $140 for an empty 5x5 storage that we are not using for more than 2 weeks read more

The assistant manager is a horrible and hateful person..my door broke on my unit and all she could tell me was I would need to fix it it was my fault. My door to my unit stay open for 3 days and how they secured it was to put a bedtime in front of it. When I went there to talk to the manager she followed me to my car and told me to get off the property I was being evicted the she called the police and told them I was trespassing.I had just spoken to the manager and had a pleasant conversation with Robert and as soon as I was getting ready to get in my car she had followed me out and started threatening me with the poljce..She would not stop.The next day I told them I would be moving out..when moved out and got ready to go out the gate she had turned off my access so we could not leave. She would not answer the phone, my brother laid on his horn for over 2 minutes trying to get her attention but nothing worked. I finally got ahold of the district manager who then called down there and had her let us out..I rented from there for over 4 years and never had a problem until the day when my door broke..All she would do is tell me I was responsible for the door and I needed to have it fix. My unit was left wide open for 3 days and they did nothing..I now rent from Castle store and I got a 5 by 7 for 79.00 and at spfld store it was 134.00..they give u a lock for your unit..it is gated...24 hour mateniance person available bathrooms for the public.and move in specials. They dont require renters insurance because they have insurance on their units..Spfld secure storage I would not recommend to my worse enemy..The assist manager she should not ever be in customer service she is the worse read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is an absolute joke. We show up on a Saturday to get a U-Haul from this location because they say they offer this service. We go thru the automated check out (meaning we didn't have to speak to anyone to check it out). We pay for the truck and go to the lockbox to get the key and what do ya know it's not there. Like I said before their hours of operation say there are supposed to be someone here. There is a sign on the door saying they will be back in 30 mins but we have been here over two hours and no one has showed up. There have been around 10-15 other cars that have pulled up trying to get in the office to talk to someone and couldn't. I then called the company responsible for this godforsaken trash hole and they were basically useless as well. They told me they couldn't get a hold of anyone and then tried the district manager and they couldn't get a hold of them either. So basically we are sitting here waiting for someone to show up. We only had today to move and it's getting later by the minute so who knows what is going to happen. This place is run extremely poorly and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for anything. read more

For starters I was overcharged $58 dollars on my storage unit after being told numerous times over the phone that this wouldn't happen. They auto charged my card and never returned my money. Upon cancellation of the unit and moving out they proceeded to charge me for another full month of rent after I had filled out the cancellation form and removed my items. I've rented more than a few storage units in my lifetime, and the one thing they all have in common? You can pay your storage rent online. SSS's idea of Automatic Bill Pay is a piece of paper that you write your credit card number on for them to run manually once a month by typing your cc number into a card reader. Apparently, they feel their home office is more secure than a billion-dollar internet security industry. I guess the owner "refuses to get online." If my 70-year old mother can operate FaceTime, and Snapchat, I'm thinking the owner can get with the times. ;) I chose this location because the manager lives on-site, the units are well maintained, and they have video surveillance. It's not, by any means, the closest storage unit to my house but if you're paying to keep your things safe, I felt reassured that they are and, as of yet, have experienced any issues in that department. If going to the storage unit once a month isn't a problem for you, by all means, this is a great choice. But if you have a two-year-old and a four-month-old that go with you when you run errands... It's pretty inconvenient. read more

We had some issues with our move that caused us to have to use our truck a few extra hours, and not only did the manager David waive the fee, he made sure my car was safe while we moved AND parked the truck for me afterwords. I've used this place for more than 16 years and it was always clean and fairly well maintained, although all the cars and trucks being stored on the property sometimes made driving between buildings tricky. They also used to be reasonablly priced, with rental increases few and far between, but unfortunately that is no longer the case. A new "management" company took over the property a few years ago and they've raised the rental rate EVERY year since. This year, they raised the rent $20 for a 5x10. read more

I decided to go with this storage unit because the manager lives on site and provides that extra security that I was looking for. Staff is very nice and always helpful. Springfield Secure Storage has a great location, is clean, and safe. Previously, (until mid to late 2013) the storage units were maintained by "Ron." Ron was very on top of things and I never had a problem. Now there is new management and I have had problems almost every month from calls not being returned by the new manager, "Sue" to even realizing that my rent went up this month with ABSOLUTELY NO NOTICE. If she tries to tell me that she has to wrong address I will be very upset because she blamed another "problem" on this a month or two ago. The location couldn't be better and my belongings are safe, otherwise I would move my things....hoping for a bigger place soon so I don't have to deal with this.
