(Why would you want to chance getting hooked or tangled by someone's fishing line?) They've brought in sand for a makeshift beach which is nicer than sitting on rocks. The NO'S are as follows: No dogs, or other animals allowed. No bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, roller skates No ATV's, motorcycles, motorized vehicles. No fires, fireworks No alcohol, No smoking, No e-cigarettes, and definitely no chewing tobacco. One nice thing about the reservoir is there are several hiking trails close by, but be careful... this is bear country according to the many signs that warn you.

There was a small quarter sand beach while the last 3/4 of the pond was surrounded by concrete beaches. The kids ended up having fun with it but I still thought it was weird. Where are the trees? Where is the shade? Ha! NOTE: the water is quite cold; we predicted about 60 degrees. Too cold for me but my kids enjoyed it on this 100 degree day! I appreciate any effort on the city to bring local parks and ponds for the public to enjoy.

Payson Lakes Campground is beautiful! It is a short drive from SLC, but it feels like a different…read moreworld! This is a popular campground, so you will need to make your reservation well in advance, especially for the nicer/more private sites. I visited on Labor Day weekend, and the campground was full. Lots of kids running around. But our campsite (B20) was very secluded and private, and we had a wonderful stay! The location was close to the bathroom but not too close to our neighbors, which is our favorite combination. The lake was extremely low.. seeing the boat dock was almost comical, as it looked like a high dive over a long stretch of rocks! But it was also sad to see this, as I'm sure the lake was even more beautiful when full. My picture makes the lake look like a tiny swamp, but there was actually room for paddle boarding/kayaking. I didn't go in, as walking through muck to get to the actual water isn't really my thing. But I can see how it would be a fun day for a family with kids. Many of the campsites didn't have a private feel to them, so I would recommend browsing pictures online before choosing your site if you're picky like me. I did an inventory of the most private sites, so few free to msg me for more info. I will be back here for sure!

My review is centered just on the Payson Lake beach site. We had a WONDERFUL day here…read more First thing to note- it is a LONG, windy road in with no cell service! I had no idea it would be that way, but it was a gorgeous drive. It's $10 for the day, on your honor since there was no guard in the booth. Be sure to grab an envelope to stick in your dashboard! The lake and beach area is BEAUTIFUL! Bring your own life jacket, paddle boards, rafts, and kayaks out and enjoy the sunshine. The lake doesn't seem to have much of a current, so it's a great place to float and row around! I believe you can fish as well. You may be able to find a picnic bench or two, but plan on bringing your own seating and overhead coverings, because it is HOT in August! This is definitely a hidden gem in the Uinta National Forest, and we will be back! Enjoy!

If you come from out of town it's $10 parking. If you live in Springville you get a free parking pass but you have to get it from the town hall. Trail is rated moderate and is 2.6 miles round trip if you park your car in the parking lot by the…read morereservoir. Because there is NO parking by the trail head, I parked by the reservoir, and walked up the road past all the camping spots, and caught the trailhead. This will add 10 minutes at the most. Trail starts out by a sign pointing to different trails (follow the one that says Escalate Cross) it starts out descending some stairs then it is a single file trail with lush greenery. It was so quite you could hear a pin drop. I was the only one on the trail. So peaceful. There is a mountain bike trail parallel to this trail which I think is cool. That way you don't have to fight the mountain bikers when they come barreling down the hill.. Trail is shady for the first half. The second half is exposed to the sun. The closer you get to the cross, the harder, rockier, and slippery it becomes. Trail today was very rocky, dry, and slippery. Once you get up towards the cross (or I should say out of the trees) you will have beautiful views of the valley looking North. I was able to make out Utah Lake, but barely, because of all the smoke from the California fires. This a a family friendly, dog friendly trail if dogs are kept on a leash. Our 3 hr unguided trip had to be changed to a 2 hr guided trip only when I called two days prior to check on the trail conditions. We otherwise would have shown up the morning of with that surprise. So you can imagine the pricing had to change too, which required a lot of discussions. They do not allow refunds (even when they can't deliver what you signed up and paid for)- only allow reschedules which doesn't work well if you are visiting. The trail was great, however, we were only on the snowmobiles for 1:30 hours, or two hours.

We stayed here for my grandpas 80th birthday party where we had to drive around all day and pick up stuff for the party like balloons and such. Since we didn't spend all day at the campground the owner decided to sell our spot off after calling us once and not hearing a reply. We paid for three nights and were forced into an awkward situation where we now have to sleep at a rest stop for the night. They did call us but how do they expect us to answer the phone when we are spending time with family?? Poor business practices, would not recommend. Steer clear!!

We did not get very far as the kayak was so squirrely it was impossible to steer on Utah Lake without the fins. We headed back to shore and realized the kayak had also begun to take on water. We checked that we'd secured the plugs and valves correctly and we had, so there must have been a leak. Extremely disappointed with the product condition. The seats on the kayak were also placed in an uncomfortable way and offered no support when paddling, but that is more of a design flaw rather than the responsibility of the renters. When we took it back, I explained the issues we'd had and the store employee said they don't give out the fins since "they get lost and it doesn't really make a difference in the steering." I disagreed but he said it just depends on the person who's paddling in the back. I also told him about the possible leak and he just said they'd take a look and give us store credit if there was a problem. I told him not to bother in that case as we will not be coming back. I hope others have a better experience, but we were sorely disappointed in the rental product and the customer service.
