While I still wish I could walk down to the river from the cabins, it's really the only negative for me. The cabin sleep 2 in a private room, plus 5 more in the main room (one twin and 2 bunk bed sets). The main room also has a big table in the middle of the room with chairs that came in very handle when it started raining at dinnertime. Our friends in the cabin next door came over and we all ate inside. The kitchen was nice too. Nothing special, but it did allow us to finish up some food in the oven and have a crockpot going all day while we were on the river. And it gave us a small fridge. I also like that the cabins are really spread out. There is a big field with the cabins lining it in a huge circle, so you only have cabins to your sides and that's it. It really was a great setup to have 2 cabins that sleep 7 next to each other for a big group.

The lady that answered the phone was incredibly rude and denied that we paid for a float even having all the evidence. She said you are not floating with us and hung up. Leaving me and my father speechless and sad because we we're excited to spend this one last time together. Bip was not allowed outside that morning. She was not put on the ground outside of our home until we arrived at cabin. She was in her purse at all times for the entire trip. Got to cabin36B at 1532 (3:32pm) Put up pin in gravel 1st thing. Left her there for 15-20 min as we unpacked the car and put away groceries. A hour later she started vomiting what looked like clear/ white spit. We thought it may be her flee meds given the day before or constipation due to the weird circles she was turning. Other ideas we were thinking were vestibular attack, elevation change, or possible bug spray/poisioning. Went to dollar general at 8ish and got Benadryl to see if it would help. Got back noticed it didn't have a syringe to administer meds. I went to my car to see if I had a saline flush, at this time the lady from came pulled up and ask if we were warm enough. I told her we were, and told her what I was looking for that my dog was sick and ask if she had a dropper or anything we could use. She ask could she come in and take a look at my dog. She stated she looked like she was "acting like the people "down town" on meth..last thought on my mind. Ended up calling the emergency vet hospital Veterinary Specialty Services 45 min away! After exam the vet said it looked like meth toxicity, and recommended a cystobladder needle aspiration to get urine to which she had to be sedated for. While waiting on the procedure, I finally ask them for something to calm her bc we have had to hear her cry at this point for almost 7 hours. It was devastating. They came got her immediately to go ahead and give her something to relax her. After she was examined it was determined she in fact had meth amphetamine toxicity. She was then admitted. We got back to cabin at 4am. On the way there we called the police to file a report to see what we could do. I ask them if they could come search the property or bring a dog or anything and they said there was nothing they could do and suggested I contact an attorney. The following morning I contacted Alitta the campground manager and let her know what was going on and what the the police said, I told her I didn't want to contact an attorney or take this further that it needed to go and we could handle this out of court, and she agreed. She offered to give me the refund for Sunday because she didn't need authorization to do that but she would have to wait on the owner or HR to refund Saturday night. She told me Sunday that the owner authorized the Saturday night stay as well and she would be reaching out to me. She was hospitalized in ICU until Monday morning at 4/23/26 Got refund Spoke with Alitta at 1650 She was not willing to give me names of the owners. Said for legal reasons. All she would tell me was Jennifer. She got very agitated when I ask. She would not give me a number to contact her boss or her bosses boss. She said she gave them my number and they would contact me. But they haven't yet. 04/24/26 1250: Finally spoke with Jennifer. Said there was an open investigation and she was not paying vet bills. And she had a lawyer but wouldn't give me a name. I called the Police Department back. Spoke with a Detective. He said there is no investigation on this subject. So this is the type of people you're dealing with. Be careful staying here! It could have been a child getting into the left over meth!!!

The sound theatre is something to see and the colors are breathtaking. There is a gift shop, ice cream parlor, restaurant that consists of wraps, chicken strips, sandwiches etc. the grounds includes lodging, rope and rock wall, zip lining, canoes. Fudge counters etc. check the website for days and hours of operation and full pricing. Plenty of parking in its own private parking lot. This is definitely an experience for everyone.

They have so many activities to keep adults and kids occupied! Each day's activities are posted on a board in the lodge. The adults loved the tournaments-shuffleboard, ladder-ball, etc. 4 year old daughter had a blast with the train rides, crafts, and mostly the pool. There are evening festivities in the lodge such as a carnival, talent show, etc. lots of fun with the other guests. Great river floats in raft/canoe/inner tubes twice a day-fantastic! The pool was recently redone with a slide-very nice area. Lots of independent activities available from ping pong to Archery to mini-golf, plus play grounds. Meals are included and are good-burgers, chicken n dumplings, fried chicken, spaghetti to name a few of the dishes. Owned by several generations of same family. Owners and staff so nice and helpful! The cabins are clean and have ac-but they are old. I'm a priss and brought my own towels, pillows and bedding and made do. One advantage I've learned is having the Jefferson county fairgrounds about 15 minutes from my house. in the 3 years I have lived here, I have attended several fairs and events at the fairgrounds, and had a most enjoyable time each visit. Located in the Hillsboro Mo, the county seat of Jefferson county, the fairgrounds offer several events throughout the year, ranging from the county fair to tractor and truck competitions. I've attended a few events and each time I have had more than a mere pleasant time. sitting under the stars being entertained by a country music performer is a most delightful way to spend a warm summer night while stretched out on a blanket with a few cold ones by your side. the only downside to the whole experience is with parking issues, the fairgrounds pack them in when the fair is going on, and parking tends to get a little tight and scarce, but as long as you have a single ounce of patience, you should be able to navigate well and overcome your aggravations with the other drivers.. Jefferson county fairgrounds has a website that is very useful when planning on attending an event there, and the ticket sales for the fair are usually discounted for a short time before full price has to be paid. if your looking for a fun way to spend a hot summer evening, then head over to the Jefferson county fairgrounds, walk the midways and get enticed by the smell of fair foods floating in the air, and the sounds of people having a good ole time.. and take a moment out and enjoy things for a while..
