Gorgeous! Even though is 7 miles away from I44 and it is a local drive and lot of down hills it is worthy to visit. They take well care of this park and nature is Amazing just stop easy to get there and come back on the route. You might lose signal but it is a must stop

Been coming here over 20 years, great place to stay with beautiful scenery and lots of river access. Cabins are really nice as is the camping. I recommend checking out the trails, tons of wildlife. You may even see black bears, love this place!

This was my second time visiting the park. The first time I stayed with my family in the motel after the cavern tour. This time we stayed in one of the cabins. The cabin slept four people (1 full bed and one full futon). There was a fire place and full kitchen with the exception of an oven--microwave included. Wood must be purchased from the park store. It was reasonably priced. The park seemed well-maintained with frequent ranger rounds. We were unable to locate fishing access but it was fine since we spent the days hanging out as a family.

Affordable. Well stocked store with nice employees and good firewood. Walking distance to the cave and float trips. We were here on a weekday and had plenty of room. On a busy weekend this place will be cramped. Especially if you have slides. The locals use it as a swimming hole even though there is no swimming signage every where. We had them waddling through our campsite to get to a trail behind it without acknowledging us. Plopping in the river. Float down it and waddle back up and through our campsite to do it again. In fact we were told there is no one here. Park your rv wherever you like. A walk down to scope out all the campsites found all the ones with good river views on the grassy area full of swimmers cars with no way to figure who owns what to get them to move it for your camper. We stood by the store thinking we would avoid all of them only to have them waddle up there lol. So this place lost a star for the no control of the locals whom come and go as they wish all through the night even as the gate never closes. And there are no sights with sewage hookup. We have a little camper for our small family. Small tanks that require daily dumping. At least the grey. So we couldn't use the camper shower. The facilities here were decent. Especially with how often they are used by non campers. I doubt I'll stay here again. It wasn't all bad but the state park is right up the road and has sewage hook ups available. I'll try there next time.

Absolutely beautiful camping sites. Swim fish camp on the mulberry at historic site and caves where Jessie James eluded authorities.

Malinda, Greg and Dixie were all fantastic. Their service was amazing! They continually made sure we were good. We never felt like a burden, and felt like we belonged to a unique camping family. We have been to other campgrounds where there is a close knit community, and you feel as though you are infringing on their territory. Not here! Everyone was so welcoming, and invited us and our kids into different activities. It was such a pleasure and we will be back!

Bip was not allowed outside that morning. She was not put on the ground outside of our home until we arrived at cabin. She was in her purse at all times for the entire trip. Got to cabin36B at 1532 (3:32pm) Put up pin in gravel 1st thing. Left her there for 15-20 min as we unpacked the car and put away groceries. A hour later she started vomiting what looked like clear/ white spit. We thought it may be her flee meds given the day before or constipation due to the weird circles she was turning. Other ideas we were thinking were vestibular attack, elevation change, or possible bug spray/poisioning. Went to dollar general at 8ish and got Benadryl to see if it would help. Got back noticed it didn't have a syringe to administer meds. I went to my car to see if I had a saline flush, at this time the lady from came pulled up and ask if we were warm enough. I told her we were, and told her what I was looking for that my dog was sick and ask if she had a dropper or anything we could use. She ask could she come in and take a look at my dog. She stated she looked like she was "acting like the people "down town" on meth..last thought on my mind. Ended up calling the emergency vet hospital Veterinary Specialty Services 45 min away! After exam the vet said it looked like meth toxicity, and recommended a cystobladder needle aspiration to get urine to which she had to be sedated for. While waiting on the procedure, I finally ask them for something to calm her bc we have had to hear her cry at this point for almost 7 hours. It was devastating. They came got her immediately to go ahead and give her something to relax her. After she was examined it was determined she in fact had meth amphetamine toxicity. She was then admitted. We got back to cabin at 4am. On the way there we called the police to file a report to see what we could do. I ask them if they could come search the property or bring a dog or anything and they said there was nothing they could do and suggested I contact an attorney. The following morning I contacted Alitta the campground manager and let her know what was going on and what the the police said, I told her I didn't want to contact an attorney or take this further that it needed to go and we could handle this out of court, and she agreed. She offered to give me the refund for Sunday because she didn't need authorization to do that but she would have to wait on the owner or HR to refund Saturday night. She told me Sunday that the owner authorized the Saturday night stay as well and she would be reaching out to me. She was hospitalized in ICU until Monday morning at 4/23/26 Got refund Spoke with Alitta at 1650 She was not willing to give me names of the owners. Said for legal reasons. All she would tell me was Jennifer. She got very agitated when I ask. She would not give me a number to contact her boss or her bosses boss. She said she gave them my number and they would contact me. But they haven't yet. 04/24/26 1250: Finally spoke with Jennifer. Said there was an open investigation and she was not paying vet bills. And she had a lawyer but wouldn't give me a name. I called the Police Department back. Spoke with a Detective. He said there is no investigation on this subject. So this is the type of people you're dealing with. Be careful staying here! It could have been a child getting into the left over meth!!!

The guys the spotted my camper were real nice. Hookups worked at our site. No life guards at the pool, ergo no rules being enforced. There are security cameras at the gate and the Lodge... and yes even at the pool so apparently no one is watching them. There is a teen center/grill which we were excited about but it never did open the whole time we were there. The miniature golf course is not very usable due to disrepair and neglect. As you might expect, the prices at the store inside the Lodge is $$$. The Lodge itself is nice but it has gambling machines (a lot). Due to the lack of supervision this could be less than ideal for kids if given money by the parents. It's not like they check your ID to play. The people that work here are mostly crabby, except the spotting guys. It does have a laundry area that's about as basic as you can get. Some machines out of order. There are lots and lots of golf carts which makes it very loud and dusty. Apparently there is no speed rule enforced because people go way faster than the 10 mph posted including the head guy. Fire pits are mostly adequate and it seemed that most spots had picnic tables. Not very nice ones, but they did have them. There's also an "Adult center" with a pool table, dart machine and I think a jukebox. Nobody in there and kind a dirty. M/W bathrooms as well. Hope this helps fellow campers!

When we arrived at check-in, it was super easy to get checked in and everyone was very kind. They have a store with some small items if you forgot anything. The owners live on site and they let me and my kids go visit their puppies and play in the puppies area/run house. They are very kind and spoke to us often throughout. They even offered to go to the store to pick AA batteries for us and a couple other things instead of us going to the store and purchasing it from them directly that was very kind and going above. The only reason for the four star is, I did call them to get additional towels for the cottage house we rented. Whoever answered the phone had hesitation in their voice, and seemed annoyed that I was asking for extra towels. They asked how many people were in our party because they saw a lot of people.kitchen told them yes we rented the cottage house +3 primitive cabins we had a large party, but we were not over using any space. He thought hesitation in his voice and I explained to him we only had two towels and he was more than welcome to come check if he doubted us he said oh that's strangely usually put four or five in the house I said well, they didn't then they offered to bring more as much as we all spent for the entire weekend. It was a little frustrating how we were treated in that specific scenario. They had paddle boats you could rent and we rented two. It was a decently priced 35 for four hours. They also have horseback riding and a couple other things that you can pay additional for. The cottage was fully stocked. The primitive cabins you do have to bring your own linens, which is clearly stated

However, my check-in experience was incredibly frustrating and ruined the trip for me. Upon pulling up to the Country Store (exactly as the check-in instructions stated), one of the property's loose farm dogs (a Great Pyrenees) began barking and jumping repeatedly on my vehicle, leaving behind scratches down to the primer. I stayed in my vehicle with my dog (who remained calm and quiet) secured in the backseat, as I didn't know if the loose dog was friendly. When the owner, Jonathan, came out, he put the dog up but loudly began blaming me for the damage, stating I should have gotten out to stop his dog or moved my vehicle elsewhere. He made multiple excuses and was very dismissive of the fact that my property was damaged by his unleashed animal. Jonathan ended up walking away and a different man asked me to go inside to check in. Flabbergasted, I proceeded with the check in process even though I didn't get an apology or any concern for what happened or how I'd been treated. The entire ordeal, including the hostility, really just ruined the stay for me and I ended up leaving early the next day. I did get an initial text from Johnathan apologizing and he offered to give me a free next stay and pay for buffing the scratches. I declined another stay, and notified him that I buffed out most of the scratches, but that some had gone through to the primer. I told him I would take care of it and I was not going to send a bill. Dragging this on further, he sent another message attempting to blame me again. This time claiming that my window being cracked a few inches is what caused his livestock dog to bark and scratch my doors. The constant blaming and complete lack of accountability for a guest's damaged property was unacceptable. It is a beautiful property, but proceed with caution, and be prepared for loose dogs and a defensive, unprofessional, owner.
