I had noticed this place while passing a few times and the colorful butterfly garden caught my attention! Despite the 90+ degree heat, I found myself captivated in that magical space and grateful to the city employees who installed it back in 2016! You have beautified our city and given us a chance to get up close to incredible beauty and life! Our campion trail rocks but, wow! It needed some color and this little garden is bursting with life! If interested in using the Campion Trail, this is a great park and access point to hop on--just a 7 min bike ride or a 20-30 min walk from Los Colinas and the Famous Mustangs as well as the beautiful Lake Carolyn Promenade and Mandalay Canal.

Despite the constant flooding that occurs in the area when it rains, I feel like they still do what they can to make sure they keep up the park. They've actually expanded the width of the sidewalks which is great for the rapidly growing area. They've also added a flower garden for those who want to sightsee. The pavilion is also kept up nicely, be sure to arrive early because it is constantly being used by large groups for events and etc. The one thing I do wish they had along this part of the trail are bathrooms and better water fountains. But it's great if you like to stay active with biking and running and there is plenty of parking and it does feel safe for the most part. Spring/ early summer is a great time of year to go and check it out, stay cool under the shaded trees and enjoy nature!

I've only been through half of the trails and have really enjoyed it. The trail is paved and wide. There's nice little pockets where it goes through trees or next to trees so you get some nice shade on your walk. I'm not sure if there's unpaved trails but from what I can tell, the area right behind the municipal complex does not have unpaved trails because the trees and bushes seem pretty thick. I've seen both bikers and walkers. I think this park is a good size for walking/running but probably a bit small for biking. I say that because on my walk I saw the same bikers multiple times because they're having to do loops because of the size of the trail system.

Dog friendly. Plenty of resting areas and check points. Give it a try! There were all age groups there as well. Very simple trail to bond with your parents and/or your little one. My daughter and I went on a lot of off the main path to be more adventurous, it was great! There is all ages of people that were here, people walking their dogs, riding bikes (which was annoying) if you're walking/jogging on the main path. The view is great!! We did a hour adventure and clocked it almost 3 miles! This would not be good for the summer, would be too hot! Also there is paths that have no warning that if you go down them it goes to apartments, which suck because of you haven't ever been you have to come all the way back should be a sign that says to apartments (dead end). That was the downfall. But to get away and enjoy outdoors, this is a great place!! Even see all kinds of wildlife, my daughter pointed out a red tail hawk it was cool. With all the rain we could not go to more off paths because it was muddy and wet. So we want to come back and go on them! Plus just to come back to escape the world of being inside. Great place Richardson! A+!

My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon looking for a peaceful place to enjoy a picnic, and we mostly found it. The spot by what might be described as a swimming hole (with easiest access to water) was pretty crowded, packed with happily squealing children and drunk people on jet skis, but up on the grassy hill we had the place to ourselves. We spread out our blanket, gazed out at the water and ate our packed sandwiches in perfect peace. We even wandered up the hill after lunch and explored the little playground, basketball court, and picnic tables that were there. My only complaint might be the "restroom"-- two dilapidated port-a-potties that looked pretty bad and smelled worse. But considering that it's free park, free to enjoy the lake and a pretty nice place to be in general, I can get by with mediocre toilets.
