Once we checked in, the guy told us we would be teeing off in "a little bit". Our tee time was for 1:16, and we checked in at about 1:05 ish. We then went to our car and grabbed our bags, and we pull up to the tee box before our tee time, at 1:14. We get there and the ranger is screaming at us saying that we are way late and that the whole course is now backed up, while swearing the whole time. He kept yelling at us as we tried to hustle, and he even made us skip the first hole while we still payed for the full 9 holes. Keep in mind that we were at the tee box ready to go, BEFORE OUR TEE TIME. Once we passed the first hole, there were already at least 2-3 groups waiting at the tee box for hole 3, and two other groups already on hole 2, so the hole course was backed up already. Then, about halfway through the round, I got yelled at and heckled by the group behind us for "playing too slow" when there were literally groups in front of us. If anything we were almost hitting into the group in front of us, but I guess that doesn't matter to whoever was behind us. My experience was terrible and I will never be coming back again.

The people throughout all departments were helpful towards me and my group. To extend my argument towards the perfect rating the course was well groomed and well kept. player issues such as divots in the greens could be chalked up to unclassy players.

You can tell they take pride in the condition of all aspects from greens, to fairways, and even the parts I have to hit from! The layout is entertaining. It's not your municipal back-and-forth layout. And the holes that do run along each other - those have decent separation (woods, wild grass) and space so you're not worried about an errant shot. When we were there, the greens were tough, but fair (not overly fast, but a good read was important). Some tee shots were tight - if you aren't an accurate driver, don't be afraid to hit something a little straighter (typing this is more of a reminder to me for next time - lol). Janesville is a bit of a drive for me, but it's totally worth it for this course - especially if you can find a deal (weekdays, evenings...) BONUS to be by the airport if you enjoy seeing aircraft taking off - anything from small commuter planes to military aircraft like the osprey and apache helicopters.

Placing an approach shot in the right green level is a must to avoid 3 putts. Overall the golf course is beautiful and challenging. Our experience however was not very nice. As we are turning into the back 9 they decided to shotgun an outing right in front of us. They simply asked us to bypass 10 and play it after completing the round (more about this to come). We thought the outing was teeing off behind us, but to our surprise the outing was teeing off on 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. We were playing with the outing!. That was chaotic, and no ranger to be seeing. This created a slow play situation that turned dangerous as outing players started to loose their patience and kept hitting golf balls that landed way too close for comfort. The fact there was an outing scheduled was not mentioned when we called for a reservation, or when we arrived at the clubhouse. It was a "surprise" at the turn. Once we completed holes 11-18 there were two foursomes, one teeing off and another waiting on Hole 10. I truly wonder if anybody is coordinating golfers in the course and for sure customer service is deficient at best. When we finished they were courteous but did not try to remedy their mistake. We paid to play 18 holes, called for a reservation and they decided to put an large outing on top of us without telling us and offered no apologies or restitution for their mistake. We traveled far to play Glen Erin, and left with a bad impression. I will not travel to Glen Erin as their reservation system means nothing, and they don't care about customer experience. I wish I can give a better rating as the golf course has potential.

The local…read moregovernment leadership won't invest money to alleviate the condition issues caused by the rain and flooding problems. (Not a great deal of money). The city complains that the courses loses money. The only reason it is losing money is because it has been closed so much and can't allow carts due to rain. I think they would rather sell the land for housing, but who would want to build their home downwind and with a view of that landfill. Not to mention the problems of constant flooding. The layout is awesome and it has been improving in the past few years. But you won't see the improvements if it has been raining more than a half inch due to the relatively low elevation. They call it Yahara 'Hills' but most of it use to be wetlands. It won't improve until local government changes or the course changes ownership.

Denny K's had a quality bathroom due to the fact that it had a toilet seat. Conversely Mitchell's Tap lacked a bathroom door, lacked a stall door, and lacked a toilet seat. The toilet was stainless steel so there would be the occasional patron that would leave a dump, and get ridiculed for sitting on the prison-style toilet.
