Another person whose buywithme voucher they refused to honor. The email (which they sent just before they were scheduled to come) had two phrases that particularly annoyed me. "Due to circumstances beyond our control, it is with great regret I must inform you that Spotless New England will no longer be able to honor the cleaning you have purchased through Buy With Me." This really annoyed me as it was so gutless. It is precisely in their control to decide to renege on a deal. "Spotless New England is still available to come to your home and provide you a quote for a cleaning and schedule a time for a non-promotional cleaning now if you would like." Again this was just insulting. read more

I was really disappointed, especially after reading all of the other positive reviews here. Nick was nice at the estimate stage, which was done in-person after a walk-through of my place. Different story once he thought he had the business from me. I wanted to be home for the first cleaning or two. He was 45 minutes late, and ended up doing a pretty rushed job because I had to leave. Thorough cleaning on what was cleaned by his assistant. Even though he was late, he blamed it on me and actually ridiculed me for what he deemed to be too much clutter (specifically, things on shelves and stored under the bed). He had just done the in-person estimate the week before, so even if my place wasn't decorated to his personal taste it certainly wasn't different. But I was in a pinch, chalked this up to a bad day (for me or them or both), and tried again. I clarified the day, time, duration, and availability with him prior to the next cleaning. The next time, he was over an hour late, cleaned for 10-15 minutes, and charged the same amount. Really annoying, and a total ripoff. Nick uses Google calendar for scheduling. This sounds like a good idea, but he changed the day of the cleaning without checking that I was actually available. I emailed him to clarify and change the day to something that worked for both of us. The first time, I altered my schedule to be there. The 2nd time, he never responded to emails asking to change the day/time, except finally in a text message the day before to say that he was too busy doing a new estimate. For me, it's just not worth the time and hassle. Definitely would not recommend -- rude, unreliable, shoddy work, and massively disorganized. read more

Received a reply via email very promptly from the quote form via his site. The amount quoted, without even scheduling a visit for a real quote, was almost double what our association was paying previously. (We were looking for common area cleaning and not individual cleaning services.) After explaining that via email we received a reduced quote along with accolades of Best of Boston and "I cost a bit more because of the quality I provide..." schtick. After explaining we weren't looking for anything over the top, general common area cleaning is sufficient etc. the final reply was mind boggling. Nick's last response, as he kept implying all along, was that he was just around the corner and even said "...and we have 10 FB friends in common Lol (insert happy face emoticon)". I'm all for the small business man needing to get off the ground and build clientele etc. I support it wholeheartedly. I've been in the South End long enough to Know and see a lot of the small business owners I patronize grow and flourish over the past 20 plus years. But when you check someone's personal Facebook profile and then tell them about it as though that's a 'marketing' gimmick, I'm sorry, but that's far from professional. And there is a difference between being a 'business' and being 'professional' with your customers. PS: In response to the owners reply. The review never questioned whether you had quality service or not. It had to do with being too 'familiar' with a potential customer rather than simply professional. You can call it what you like but a professional company shouldn't be looking up FB profiles. If I had asked you for references you should have been able to provide them without snooping on me. In this day and age privacy should be respected not trampled upon like you chose to do. Just like you shouldn't have posted my full name on Yelp but since you chose to do so I'll have to contact HQ and have it flagged. Learn some boundaries and you'd have had much better results. read more

Typically, I haven't written any yelp reviews. However, I thought I'd contribute to the community and help others find a good cleaner by sharing my experience. Our objective for scheduling cleaning people was to hire people to do deeper cleaning that we generally don't have time to do outside of the usual maintenance work. Read great reviews and had high expectations, but the job was very cursory: Positives * Natural cleaning solutions Negatives * Many spots were not dusted/cleaned: tea-table, coffee maker, etc. * Kitchen Counter was still dirty * Soap residues still on the soap tray * Items on top of the shelf were not returned to proper position * Corners of the floor were not swept carefully Also, they broke our water faucet broke while cleaning, which we had to get replaced by our building management (luckily at no charge)... and one of the cleaners was practically on the phone the whole time read more

This sucks! I was so pleased with my first experience with these guys that I gave up Groupon-hopping and decided to pay full price. The second time was great as well, with very deep cleaning. However, the third time really soured me. My house was pretty clean to begin with (a rare event), so it should have been easy to make spotless, but the end result was not great. They didn't even move my loveseat to vacuum behind it! And it's a tiny IKEA loveseat that one person can move easily. I just moved it and there are a bunch of things and crumbs behind it, so I had to vacuum it myself. And the glass part of my coffee table was still dirty. I thought that would be the first thing they'd do. The cleaner accidentally put my dirty dishes from the dishwasher away into the cabinets (eww!!). When I texted the owner to ask if that happened, "He thought they were clean, if they weren't I'm sorry, he put them away." Can you imagine how irritating it is to know that a FEW dishes in your cabinet are dirty, but not know which ones? So the exact day I needed to save time by hiring cleaners, I ended up having wash every dish I own, and the owner didn't sympathize at all. Why couldn't the cleaner just ask me if the dishes were dirty or not? I was right there in my house. The first two times were a nice job, but I would need consistent excellence to commit to a place. I've had different sets of cleaners each time I've had service from them, so maybe it's just not practical to get consistent results every time. I'm going back to whatever is available on Groupon. read more

I recently had Spotless New England come and clean my apartment. It was an okay experience. They were able to fit me in within a couple days which is ultimately why I went with them, along with the great reviews. However, for my 650 sq ft apartment, with 1 bathroom, they charged $190. That seemed like a lot and I figured I could do better, but I was desperate for someone to come before we had house guests. Then they showed up late. Not the end of the world, but no phone call. I reached out to the owner, Nick, who I had been dealing with and he was apologetic and got in touch with the pair who would be cleaning the apartment and they showed up shortly - about 20-30 minutes late. The cleaning was pretty good, but I don't think it was $190 worth. The bathroom was definitely clean and counters and all that good stuff, but they didn't move things to get behind them which I thought was a bit odd. For instance, my laptop was in it's laptop bag leaning against a bench and I picked it up after they left and there was a dust bunny behind it. We really didn't have much lying around so this wasn't a big problem, but for an object like that, I would have expected them to pick it up to make sure they vacuumed the whole floor. Anyway, for my last minute needs, I'm happy I did it, but I won't go back to them at that price for a pretty good job. read more

Disaster. They arrived long before the scheduled time, so I had to cut an appointment short and race home to give them access to the unfinished basement that I needed cleaned. They took appx. one hour to clean a 700 sq. ft. basement for $180 plus tips for 2 workers. That should have been my first clue. (Or the second, whatever.) After they left, I remained in the basement to shuffle storage bins around, etc. When I eventually made it out to my driveway, I found it piled high with cardboard boxes that had been a BIG part of the job (clearly communicated to the owner in advance and agreed to before scheduling). Not only had they not been broken down at all, they were chockfull of plastics, styrofoam and other debris. The most awful part? When I finally got to doing it myself, it was worse than I thought: they straight-up emptied everything they swept and god only knows how many canisters full of Wet/Dry Vac contents INTO THE BOXES and then covered it all up with other crap and closed them up. Who does that?!?!?!?!?!?! read more

Spotless New England - Boxes full of plastic/styrofoam/debris and very much NOT broken down left in driveway. Didn't know it was there until they had already gone. - Home Cleaning Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

During Outer Cape high season; Nick's team left fifteen bags of trash in our garage without communication for two weeks. When the third weekly vacation renter complained about a horrible stench and flies in our garage entryway; we enquired with Nick about the incredible amount of trash in the garage. Nick became incredibly hostile; saying he does not take trash to the dump. Which is fair enough - but to have the cleaning crew put trash on top of trash without a report to owners is negligent; considering the high rate for cleaning during high season. Who just puts new trash on top of old trash? If you look at other reviews it seems like his entire staff is poorly trained on how to deal with refuse - and Nick simply states after the fact that it's outside of their scope of work. That information should be clear upon agreement and we think he intentionally hides it because his hostile response and lack of accountability was troublesome. We don't usually leave negative reviews but wanted to ensure others were aware that Nick's team is not trained to deal with refuse; a challenge for a cleaning company and something typically within scope of work for cleaners. It's ok to be special though :) It seems as though there is not sufficient oversight to workers out in Provincetown - perhaps they do better work in Boston; but we recommend all Outer Cape homeowners to steer clear; unless they're trying to start a maggot farm. read more

I too found Spotless Cleaners through their BuyWithMe.com deal, and now we have them cleaning our house monthly. The guys are really good, seriously, our apartment sparkled after their last visit. They get all the stuff you don't really want to do: top of the stove, bathtub, the floors. It's a no-brainer for our household. They use green cleaning products and always make sure to fold the end of the toilet paper into a triangle (that makes me smile every time). I like that Nick also has email and google calendar as options for scheduling, as for me, it is much easier to communicate that way. In talking to my friends, their prices are on par or a little lower than some other people I know. Totally check them out. read more

Great service. Cleaned everything that we wanted to be cleaned and are professional throughout. They use good products and when something is wrong, they are good at communicating and finding a solution. I continue to use them. read more

I recently tried Spotless New England to clean my apartment and was very impressed with the end product. When I e-mailed Nick I thought it would take about a week or more to receive a response. Imagine my surprise when I saw an e-mail from him the very next day asking me when I would like to schedule my cleaning. We e-mailed back and forth and within 3 days I had a date and time for my cleaning. I was very pleased at how easy the communication over e-mail had been. The team that showed up to clean my apartment was professional and arrived up on time. They were extremely nice and I felt completely at ease letting them into my home. They were efficient and everything sparkled beautifully afterwards. I was really impressed with the number they did on my bathroom & kitchen. I didn't know whether to leave the apartment or stay, but when I decided to stay and read I couldn't even hear them cleaning. This was a nice bonus because I was able to relax and read a book while my apartment was getting cleaned :) I would definitely hire them again! read more

Nick and his team are so wonderful!! I went out of town and left my place being watched by a pet sitter and came back to what looked like a pig stye! Dirty dishes, gross bathroom, pet hair everywhere!! Nick was able to get his team out to me quickly on a very short notice and have my place thoroughly cleaned! Now I can finally sit back and relax in a clean space! Thank you! read more

I recently took advantage of a buywithme.com deal to get 2 hrs of cleaning for $49. From the minute I emailed Nick to schedule the cleaning until the time they left I was very impressed with the experience from start to finish. The appointment was scheduled via email, I received an email confirmation and a phone call before the visit. My one complaint was they were an hour early! Not exactly the worst thing but I had selected to be present during the cleaning as it was my first time using them and they called me at 1pm to tell me they were at my house, so I had to drop everything I was doing and run home to let them in. They brought a crew of 4 guys and all worked tirelessly during the entire two hours. The quality of the cleaning was fantastic, my place has never looked so clean! I haven't decided yet if I will hire them back on a regular basis yet but would strongly recommend them to anyone considering a cleaning company. read more

I recently TRIED to take advantage of my buywithme deal for a cleaning and although Nick had seemed attentive and prompt in his responses, I am now completely disappointed with their service. We had an appointment at 10:30 in the morning. I left work in order to be there for our first cleaning and at 11:17 they still had not shown up. I had emailed Nick both the evening before and the day of the appointment and did not receive a response. I then called him twice and emailed again to inform him that no one had shown up to our scheduled appointment, only to receive an email hours later "apologizing" for circumstances that prevented them from providing us with the service we paid for. I would certainly not recommend their services, especially since my roommates and I wasted time getting the house ready for someone to come clean it, I took and wasted an hour of my work day, for a service I did not receive and will not be receiving. read more

Contacted them for a estimate, took few days for them call back, they left a message. Referring me to their website. Their website says they do not service Dorchester, just Southend, Back Bay and South Boston. So I emailed them to confirm, since I told him in original voicemail that I lived In Dorchester. I received an email back asking if I wanted a one time cleaning or reoccurring. I responded reoccurring. NEVER heard back from them. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and rather snobby. All set with Spotless New England. Odd name since they only service Southend, Back Bay and South Boston. read more

I trust my friends at Yelp for great recommendations, so when I spotted the reviews for Spotless New England, I reached out to Nick at once. He was prompt in his reply and scheduled an appointment to come out and give me an estimate for cleaning services. We scheduled the appt for 4:30 on Friday afternoon. I came home specifically for this appointment, and at 4:15, I received an email asking me to re-schedule. I didn't even get a phone call - and how was he to know I had access to email on my phone!? I replied back immediately expressing my disappointment and gave him some options to re-schedule. He didn't even bother to follow up - no email with an apology for the short notice, no reason why he couldn't make it and he didn't even re-schedule. Poor business etiquette in my books. I can't work with anyone who is that disrespectful of other people's time. read more

I contacted Spotless New England after seeing their "Best of Boston" award in the most recent issue of Boston HOME Magazine. I specifically needed my condo cleaned in advance of a large holiday party I was hosting. Owner Nick Dennis promptly replied and arranged to come out that day to give me an estimate. He walked through my condo, pointing out dust on the ceiling fans that would be taken care of and baseboards that would be cleaned. For my 1400 square foot, 2 bedroom condo, Nick quoted me a one-time cleaning fee of $240.00, and a fee of $140.00 if I hired his company for bi-weekly cleanings after that. I thought his fees were on the high side, but I was feeling desperate to find someone to take on this job on short notice. I came home on the day of the cleaning (the day before my party) about an hour after the cleaners had left. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The floors had not been washed, the rugs were not vacuumed, the bathtub still had hair in it, the coffee tables bore the same spill residues as they had when I'd left that morning. The dust on my dresser was still in place. None of the furniture had been dusted or vacuumed. And those ceiling fans that Nick had promised? Not touched. I immediately (and politely) emailed Nick with the list of items that had not been completed. I let him know that I would be putting a stop payment on the check, as this was clearly not a $240.00 cleaning, and I asked him to reply with a more reasonable amount in light of the work that was done. He took a few hours to get back to me and responded that he was "sorry that the cleaning wasn't up to my standards." Additionally, he said he'd been sick, and thus couldn't get out to supervise his cleaners as he normally would, but that he'd already cashed my check. I found it quite interesting that he was too sick to supervise, yet well enough to get to the bank within hours of the cleaning. In the end, Nick offered me a future cleaning at no cost, which I pointed out didn't help me as I had 40 people coming to my home the next day. When I asked him again to refund my money, he returned $40.00, thus charging me $200.00 for a poorly, partially cleaned condo. Poor service and atrocious customer service. read more

Can't say enough about these guys. To put it simply - always on time, very flexible with rescheduling on days that may not work for me, quality of their work is great and they listen if you have suggestions/requests on cleaning. I had many bad experiences with groupon or living social house cleaning deals and finally gave up and called Nick. He came the next day for an estimate which is also a better feeling than just getting a price over the phone. Would recommend to anyone. read more

Nick, of Spotless New England, is absolutely wonderful! He is very trustworthy, delightfully flexible and reliable, easy to communicate with, and most importantly does a great job cleaning our apartment. After trying two other cleaning services and not being pleased with the level of communication, thouroughness, and reliablity, Spotless New England answered to everything I was looking for in a cleaning service. Plus, Nick uses green products that not only are great for cleaning, but are safe around our baby. read more

Nick's crews are professional, friendly, and have a great attitude. Most importantly, they never cut corners. It's amazing. Seriously--I've come home to find my forlorn toothbrush holder looking super shiny and brand new. Beyond being a regular customer for just under a year, I recently hired them to do a HUGE project outside of town a bit--I bought a house that hadn't been cleaned in ages, and was covered in clusters of spider webs and a layer of dust. They fearlessly braved the webs and the piles of dust to get the entire place in perfect condition. They literally climbed the walls to get to the tiniest nooks and crannies. The team takes great pride in holding themselves to a superior level of quality, and it shows. Thank you Nick and team! read more

Nick's team cleaned our apartment yesterday and when I got home, I was so impressed! They were so professional: arrived on time, were efficient and so friendly and pleasant. I wouldn't think twice about asking them to come back! read more

1-star reviews inevitably seem harsh, but given the 4.5 star average, and my disappointing experience, I think this rating is necessary. In Sum: For one who by all appearances cares a lot about scheduling and timeliness (calendar invites and text reminders), Nick and co. are awful at it. At least Abby's attention to detail is rather lacking, and the cleaning was not spotless. Everyone seems somewhat unprofessional. The Scheduling: After scheduling my cleaning, Nick Google Cal's me and texts me the day before to remind me. On the day of (Friday) Nick texts again 2 minutes before the scheduled time to say he'll be "be there in 20." 41 minutes later I text and tell Nick it's a little too late and request a reschedule. Nick blames traffic on a Friday mid-day. Nick reschedules for another day and re-Google Cal's. Abby (the person Nick sends) calls 3 minutes after the re-scheduled time to say she'll be there in 20. Abby calls again 34 minutes later to say she's parking. The Cleaning: A little while into the cleaning, Abby comes to me and asks "I had a question. About the kitchen floors... did you want those cleaned?" Yes, obviously. After the cleaning, I look around and notice the backsplash wall behind the stove still looks greasy, and I point it out. I point to Abby and show her the adjacent area where I had scrubbed and how much cleaner it is. Abby says she wiped it but will do it again. It still looks dirty. read more

When Spotless New England came to our house the first time, I was present and the job was done very competently. The second (and last) time they came, I was not home, but my electrician was there working on a project in the house. My first inkling of trouble came at about lunchtime when my electrician called me to tell me that the cleaners had just left and he was standing in my kitchen watching soap suds spill out of my dishwasher all over my kitchen floor. He turned it off to stop it before he left himself, but the cleaners had obviously run it with regular dish soap. Thank heavens he was there and saw it or I would have come home to a kitchen floor covered with soap bubbles. The MUCH bigger problem was that when my husband and I came home with our young children at about 6:30pm, we opened the front door to the overwhelming scent of gas. They had somehow managed to turn the gas on on our stove (no flame, just gas) and it ran from about 11am until we got home at 6:30pm! We are lucky to be alive, and have a home, and so are our neighbors. Thank God it was a wet day and there was no spark from the door opening and rubbing the carpet or something. We had to keep the kids outside while we ran around opening every window and door and vent. When the gas had cleared (and my heart stopped leaping) I looked around the rest of the house to see if they had done anything else. They left a bottle of cleaner and a wet rag sitting on the floor of the upstairs hallway, and an attachment of their vacuum cleaner in my living room. They had not changes the sheets, despite my leaving clean sheets out exactly where I had shown them I would leave them (right next to the bed and pretty hard to miss), and they turned and left on the light to the screened porch. Then there are the 2 hours I spent scooping suds out of my dishwasher... These complaints about their cleaning seem pretty petty when I consider that my family is lucky to be alive, but I thought Yelp users might be interested. If I could give them no stars I would, since it doesn't really matter how clean your house is if it's in flames and there is no one alive to live in it. read more

What a fantastic job! Nick came over with several others to clean my house and I have to say I have never seen it looking so clean. I moved into a place which had previously only been inhabited by male college students, needless to say it needed some TLC. I was ecstatic with the results. Also Nick was very available last minute, came on time and even a little early, and did a very thorough job. Highly recommend. read more

I emailed Nick at Spotless the week before Easter. I needed a deep spring clean before family came to stay with us, especially since I haven't had my apartment cleaned since we moved in in October. Nick responded right away and we set up a walk through for the next morning. He and his team came the day after that and did a terrific job. Nothing was overlooked- they thoroughly dusted, swept, vacuumed and got every nook and cranny. They even cleaned my windows, vents, bedroom mirror- things that I didn't even realize were dirty! Spotless is a bit on the pricey side but probably worth it in my book for the convenience and an excellent cleaning job. I love that Nick texts and uses google calendar and is so responsive; setting up the appointment was the easiest I've ever experienced with a cleaning service. I will likely be doing another clean in another month or so. I'm curious to see if the second time is as good as the first! read more

The service provided by the people who work for this company was superb and deserves five stars. They went above and beyond and I would hire them again, if not for the owner. My interactions with the owner of this company deserves one star. The cleaning crew was 90 minutes late, which is a problem, but is understandable. However, the bigger problem is that I wasn't notified until I called the owner repeatedly and all I received was a text claiming that traffic is the issue. The owner won't pick up his phone to notify a customer that the cleaning crew will be late, nor will he pick up the phone if you call, but has plenty to say via text (using the same number!). Also, don't schedule your cleaning crew for a place in Back Bay and expect them to make it to Wellington in 15 minutes, that is not fair to your workers. read more

I was hesitant to use a cleaning service, but so happy I used this one! I left my house a complete disaster this morning, having had a death in the family last night from trying to get ready to travel last minute and in the middle of packing for moving next month. Nick's crew (manager Chris with a few people with him since Nick was out of town) were exactly on time for the appointment, if not a minute or two early, and very kind, professional, and cordial when they walked in the door. I came home absolutely delighted with what I found. I told the crew not to worry about particularly messy areas of the apartment because it wasn't on their website as something they normally do (clothes on top of bed, etc.), but I when I came home, everything was in perfect order. My home is stunning, smells great, and there's not a spec of dirt anywhere. The price is great, and I would highly recommend them to anybody. read more

Spotless New England has been cleaning our 1600 sq. ft. Loft for 4 months. We are happy with the service but find it a bit pricey. Also we have noticed that the cleaners don't empty any of our trash cans. The staff is friendly and polite and even call to say if they are running late, that is a plus in my book. We have an 8 month old who need to nap twice a day, they have been curtious to try and clean when he isn't napping.....when he his napping, since we live in a loft, he tends to not take a good nap due to the noise of cleaning.would recommend them. read more

I recently hired this company to clean some specific areas of my condo before showing it for sale. I agreed on a price with the owner for the job and they arrived promptly the next day. I paid the agreed upon fee, then left for the day. When I returned, the oven and refrigerator had not been cleaned (except outside wiped down). The bathroom floor, which they had washed, still had a lot of dirt on it and there was soap scum in the tub. When I contacted the owner, he said that they 'did as good a job as they could for the price'. His website says "clean appliances". My opinion is that any reasonable consumer would understand that included the inside. He also claimed that we had a agreed on a price $50 more than I paid him. If that was the case, he obviously should have said something when I paid him before leaving. He then pointed out that the company website stated that inside of appliances "MIGHT" incur an extra cost. That was never mentioned during discussion of price, upon his arrival and viewing of the rooms or at any other time. After several emails back and forth, I remain surprised that the owner of a service company with such high ratings here responded to my concerns by making excuses and made virtually no efforts to rectify the situation. I will not be hiring this company again. read more
