Avoid Spotless Cleaning Chicago with your life. We scheduled them to do a move-in deep clean and they claim they were here for 4 hours but did absolutely NOTHING. When I called to work it out with them Gricelda claimed their team "did their best" when they didn't even do a basic wipedown of anything I requested. They then charged my account for the full amount ($520) after I called to complain about the "service" and that they had tried to call me, etc etc. A total scam. read more

Save yourself the hassle. I had an estimate made via photo which they claimed to be there process and scheduled a service for the following day. Lamar showed up at 5:30 at the end of day and proceeded to double our estimate. In addition he scoffed at the amount of work even tho it was clearly defined during estimation. After discovering that the owner has been writing fake reviews about his business, I can't help but wonder how many of the positive reviews this company has received on Yelp are also fake... I just got a yelp message from a "Jack S." that seemed like an odd solicitation from a cleaning service. I clicked on the user's profile to see who he was. He had no picture, no identifying info, and had completed just 1 review (a 5 star one for spotless cleaning). So who is Jack S....the owner of Spotless Cleaning. How did I piece this together? Jack S. had emailed me on Yelp some time ago, offering to compensate me for an unsatisfactory cleaning job that I had Yelped about. At the time I was impressed by his offer to make good for services not delivered; however, I am displeased to learn that the owner of the company is (A) writing FAKE reviews about his own business and (B) soliciting Yelpers. Yikes, talk about unprofessional. I called for a quote, which I finally got from the owner after he told me some long, barely-related story after I mentioned I needed my place cleaned up. I went with a different cleaner in the end, who turned out to be less-than-ideal, so I gave them a suitable Yelp review... And then received a phone call from Juan, I presume, during which he gloated over the bad service of his competitor, having read my Yelp review. Now, I really do not like receiving calls from companies soliciting my business. I especially do not appreciate calls like this one. I used this company exactly twice and both times I had MAJOR issues. Round 1, scheduled appointment for 2PM. My doorman called at 1PM telling me the cleaning crew was there. I was in the middle of an appointment about a mile away, thought that I messed up the times, raced home only to find that they mixed it up. I called to complain and tell them that if they need to come earlier, they must PLAN and CALL, but the woman was extremely rude and hung up on me. I asked to talk to the manager....weeks went by...nothing. Finally the manager calls and apologizes, but nothing seems too sincere. Offers 10% off my next clean (big woop, right?) Round 2, they arrive a little late and we go to lunch while they are cleaning (I trust them). We are not gone more than an hour and when I come back, they are NOWHERE to be seen and the cleaning is very "surface". I expected them to be there when I got back, but they bounced since we paid them in advance. I was in complete shock...complaining is no use with these people, I just recommend you stay away. read more

I've used their service a couple times now, but I'm moving on to the next. They do a decent job so I gave them 2 stars, but a few things to consider: - late: they've never been on time (well, at least not to my place). This can be a problem if you have places to go - like work. - overpriced: they charge by the hour instead of a flat rate; and what they quote is totally just a quote - they charge more. - payment: they take cash, check or credit card (online); but pay right away because they will hound you every day if you don't. - convenience: they're generally easy to book on short notice. - new pet peeve: they left a rug on my bed - I should note that I have a pretty nice white duvet. My sleuth-like tendencies tell me that when they move a rug to clean the floor, they relocate it on top of nice clean things instead of to another piece of the floor ... yuck. If you're out of options, they'll get the general job done. But if you're looking for a great job at a great price, keep it moving. Earlier this year I scheduled a 3 hour Super Spotless Cleaning Service with Spotless for my younger sister who is a working single mom of three young boys under 6 years old; Spotless delivered in every single way. She lives on the South Side which is usually outside their range, but they were willing to accommodate after I explained this was a birthday present, they said they'd be willing to go early Monday morning at 8 a.m. They showed up promptly and whoa did they clean the hell out of her house. Again I can't stress enough that she has 3 boys under 6 and as neat and clean as she and they are, the apartment has the wear and tear associated with living in it. She called me later with enthusiastic praise "they steamed the walls" which I admit I'd never heard of in my life but considering i know firsthand that there were pen, marker, crayon marks on the walls, I thought "hot damn that's awesome". The fact that the products they used were non-invasive green based cleaners that wouldn't leave my nephews with ill effects was especially great. I did think initially $65 an hour was expensive, however considering they did everything but her dishes and laundry I can't complain and to know that she enjoyed her birthday and the boys enjoyed their shiny digs was gratifying. read more

Disappointed. I recently moved and am interested in finding someone to clean our place once or twice a month. I decided to have Spotless clean after I moved out of my old apartment. They arrived an hour early...so early in fact that I was not at home. The lady was friendly and did a decent job but you can't decide to show up an hour early. My place was clean but not sparkling. And it just didn't smell clean... Kind of wish I would've skipped the professional cleaning and did it myself. They called to follow up on my cleaning the next day and I gave my feedback. She explained that they used eco-friendly products and that might have been the reason for the neutral smell. Not my style, sorry...still looking. read more

I love Spotless Cleaning. They have cleaned my house 3 times now and I'm set up for monthly service. I think it may be my favorite day of the month now... the 3rd Friday each month, two great people from Spotless come to my house and make everything look great. They are thorough and always very careful. If they want to try a new product or cleaning technique on something they always check with me (which is totally unnecessary because they probably know what they're doing much better than I do anyway, but I like that they are concerned with my satisfaction). I like that with regular service I get the same people each month and they seem to really remember what worked/didn't work on the various surfaces in my house. They are very thorough and work hard the entire time they're at my house. Of course, with regular service I have a flat rate now, so I wouldn't care so much if they slowed down as to not wear themselves out! All I know is that everyone I've dealt with at Spotless has been very polite, professional, and the work has been great. Every time they leave the house looks and smells great. The best part is that they wash the wood floors, which is a chore I particularly despise. I can't find any fault with Spotless and now that I'm getting to know my cleaners I am comfortable leaving a key with them and letting them go about things regardless of whether or not I'm home. read more

So my partner, god love 'im, wanted to have a big birthday bash today. The only problem? Our condo has been under construction for the past two weeks and the flooring contractors finished up only yesterday. I called Spotless Cleaning and they were able to accommodate us with only a day's notice. They did the scrubbing, wiping and washing while we concentrated on moving all our furniture back in place. It worked and we are now ready to par-tay. Spotless was by far more thorough and detail-oriented than cleaning services I've used in the past. We live in a loft with high ceilings and windows plus a big commercial stove (that is now sparkling). The bathroom hasn't been this clean since... well, ever. The workers and owner were very nice and worked efficiently. We are very satisfied with this excellent service and will use them again for sure. read more

I told Juan how important it was for the crew to be on time (since my last company I tried no called and no show'd). They were 15 minutes early!! That is prompt. The team who came were really lovely and well meaning. They were late but called which I appreciated. I only had an hour with a Living Social voucher which meant they only did the bathroom and kitchen which was fine. I have not used a cleaning service before and thought I'd give it a go. I think I'm just a better cleaner than most because even with the discount it wasn't worth it. My tub did look better because they treated the stupid mildew, which was good, just not enough attention to detail. If you are looking for general cleaning and don't care about detail I guess this service would be ok. update: i changed my rating from a "2" to a "3" because i was offered another cleaning for free or a refund. I didn't take either because i also recognize that my standards may be too high. Nice to have the offer though. read more

bought a groupon... okay it was really a You Swoop, or Deal a Day, or one of the other million deal websites currently flooding my inbox, but they are all groupons to me, like tissue is Kleenex and inline skates are Rollerblades !! Okay on to the cleaning... easy to schedule a time, though I have weekdays off so that makes a difference. I have a fairly small appartment, but it was in desperate need of a deep cleaning, 1 bedroom is included in the general price and it was $10 for our 2nd bedroom. Yolanda and Maria were very nice and brought all the cleaning supplies needed which all companies do not do. They were here about 2.5hrs which is 5hrs total ! Everything looked great, my favorite part is that they will change your sheets if you set out new ones... lets be honest everyone hates changing sheets !! Awesome if you can afford it be-monthly or monthly, but also awesome to just do 2-3 times a year if you hate deep cleaning like me !! read more

I typically use another service but yesterday, I called Spotless after making a last minute decision to have a cleaning service help me get this house clean for family who will be coming over for dinner tomorrow. They actually had a same day appointment available but it didn't work for me. The fact that they had a same day appointment is a big plus though. If I hadn't asked for the inside of the oven and the blinds to be cleaned, I think it would have been 2 hours or less so... After 2.5 hours, Cindy & Xochitl from Spotless Cleaning just left my home and what can I say? It's spotless! I love the fact that this company uses HIGH QUALITY 'green' products because I don't feel like the family is inhaling all sorts of chemicals. They also come with A LOT of microfiber cleaning rags and they don't use the same one the whole time (this is very good for preventing cross contamination). The only downside though, is their pricing when it comes to my PERSONAL budget (Note: 'Personal' because I think their pricing is reasonable considering their work and the quality products that they use which isn't cheap.) so I will have to stick with the company I usually use. I guess it's like the difference between going to the salon around the corner or at the mall to get your hair and/or nails done and going to Mario Tricocci, nobody goes, "Like OMG! I can't believe I paid more for better quality and amazing service" People usually go, "So I went to Mario's yesterday?..." That's how I felt using Spotless, "So like, I booked an appointment with Spotless Cleaning? They're so great!" Next time I need someone right away and can't get a booking with my usual, I will be calling Spotless! =) read more

I love Spotless Cleaning - I have used them for over 4 years between Evanston and Chicago, and would highly recommend them. My service has been a recurring, once every two week cleaning, for a 2 bedroom unit. All the employees who have cleaned my units have been fantastic. Not only do they do a super job cleaning, but they are also very respectful, nice, and kind. I've never had a trust issue - I've always felt very comfortable, having left valuables (and cash) out without a problem. Once, when I found a pair of expensive eye glasses with a small piece of the lens broken and reported it, I got a call directly from the owner that night just to give me peace of mind that whatever the cost was, they would pay for it. It ended up still being covered under warranty, but I really appreciated that he called just to put me at ease so I didn't stress about it. The best aspect has been the customer service - the email reminders have been fantastic, and whenever I ask to reschedule, they always have accommodated me. The staff is always responsive and tries to be as helpful as possible. I never worry at all about scheduling. Just like any firm - they are great at some things (e.g. customer service, trust), but are not built to do everything well. With scheduling, they sometimes come early (or late) by an hour or two. I scheduled all my cleanings during work hours, and have left a key with them (or the doorman), so it's never an issue for me. I think they might be a bit more pricey than a local maid - but for me, I enjoy having the peace of mind of a flat rate, reliability and trust, great customer service, and not having to deal with paying & filing taxes. I've been using this company for at least 3 years, really like them. The people they send are always nice, they do a pretty good job, and they're usually pretty quick at my place (which is only a one-bedroom). They do show up early a lot which is OK. I prefer to be home when a cleaning crew is there, but since I've been using this company for so long I'm starting to be OK with them showing up and me not being there yet. They do a good job cleaning I think - but my place is usually pretty messy, so I'm not picky. My only caution would be that, at least for me, now that I'm a regular I get charged automatically without knowing what the charge is going to be. That made me nervous the first few times it happened, but so far I've never been overcharged or surprised. So all in all, good cleaning, a company I trust, and good customer service. I give 2 stars for the cleaning teams but left out the other 3 b/c of the poor business practices by Jaun P. and his team. I love to support small businesses, but have to call this one out as a bad one. I don't recommend SCC based on my experiences with Daisy and most recently Juan--the owner--over the past several months. There are several issues I have had but I will sight the main ones that led to this review... Cons: 1. Took Daisy 6 wks and several times asking to change my # on record from my work # ---gave when I filled out their online contact me form---to my cell #. 2. Requested new teams---b/c of poor cleaning--3 times over 4mos but had problems with getting them to change despite a 'sure! no problem! we can do that for you' reply every time. 3. Had to turn away (the wrong team) at my door twice b/c of Daisy. (See #2) Talk about awkward situation! 4. Raised the concerns over the phone and even left a review of #1-3 on their FB page. The post lasted a few days but was taken down and NO ONE followed up about it. (Jaun--the owner of SCC-- later denied ever seeing it. What happened there?) *Google "Shannon m + Spotless cleaning chicago" to see my FB post for yourself.* 5. After the second, and last time, the wrong team showed at my door I called to complain but Juan answered. (What a concept!) I explained the issues and he seemed more upset with me for sending his crew away cuz It cost him money! WOW (It seems what's been written in my file was quite a different story than what REALLY has happened.) 6. Left things with Juan promising he would look into things/speak to Daisy and email me. NEVER happened! Over a week later and no follow from Juan. In fact the 3 times I have called since he's 'not available' and 'in a meeting'--don't you know that WE know this is BS?--or 'out giving a quote for a new client'. *I guess new clients matter more than current dissatisfied ones???* Pros: 1. Cleaning teams are always very nice, professional and courteous. 2. They arrive on-time, but mostly ahead of schedule in my 4 mos experience. 3. They use their own eco-friendly products--no 'clean smell' though. 4. They bring all their own supplies, including vacuums and such, to clean and even empty your garbage cans. 5. Usually have next day appointments if you need ASAP. 6. Were willing to work with crazy work schedule (changes) without any fuss. If you can deal with the poor business practice side of things then I would recommend you be VERY specific with what you'd like the team to clean per room and double check their work before they leave to ensure satisfaction---things I will now do with the next company. read more

Disappointing. Purchased Living Social deal and scheduled a cleaning for this morning - new year, clean apartment, you get the idea. The voucher was for an hour of cleaning and I asked them to focus on the bathroom and kitchen first, and to clean the living room floors when done. The Good: - My stainless steel kitchen appliances are fairly clean. The Bad: - My stainless steel kitchen appliances were only fairly clean. The Ugly: - Did not bother to dust thoroughly; there's a small cobweb in the doorway of my bathroom that is still there. - The sink faucets had spots... not very spotless. - The bathtub looks the absolute same... with the same dirty spots that I just cleaned myself with a magic eraser. - There was bits of food in the kitchen sink drain -- admittedly it was there before... but I don't think it's too much to ask to have said food bits removed during a professional cleaning. - Anything they dusted they just left the dust on the floor. Considering that my kitchen/bathroom were fairly clean to begin with, I'm not sure what the two spent their time doing. They did not get to the living floors... they were not thorough with the bathroom or kitchen... and the floors of the kitchen/bathroom are just as dirty. They were 20 minutes late but left at the originally scheduled time, leaving my two bedrooms completely untouched and the kitchen floor un-mopped. I would have been happy to pay the full, originally quoted amount + any extra needed for a full cleaning of my apartment but wasn't given the option. Two stars because the bathroom looked very nice when the ladies were done, because the phone operator was nice and responded to my online inquiry quickly, and for teaching me the valuable lesson that I apparently need to be much more specific about what I'm looking to have done -- which I'll utilize next time, with another cleaning company. read more

I scheduled a move-in cleaning service last Thursday on May 26th at 8am. For the quality of service I received, I would say it had been an absolute waste of time and money. In summary, the cleaning was substandard, mediocre, and not worth a cent I spent. I was explicitly told that move-in cleaning (and any other type of paid cleaning service for that matter) would involve a thorough cleaning of the floors, inside cabinet, fridge interior etc. To my utter disgust, the entire kitchen/living areas were sandy and dusty, the inside of cabinets was not cleaned, and there was even a shoe print on the kitchen floor! The bathrooms looked barely cleaner than they were before! This is so preposterous! Since this is a move-in cleaning job, I had no furniture at all and cleaning should be much easier and less laborious. I I cleaned the kitchen floor IMMEDIATELY AFTER your cleaning crew was supposed to have it cleaned and a Swiffer pad that I used was covered with DIRT. How is it possible that there was still so much dirt AFTER a professional clean? Also, there were brown spots on the interior of a kitchen cabinet that I was able to remove without much effort - all it took was an easy wipe with a paper towel. What is the point of hiring cleaners when my husband and I had to spend another three hours doing the job that your employees (or contractors) should have done and were paid to do? I was somewhat disappointed they missed cobwebs on the ceiling in the corners of the room (ceiling was only 8' high) and counter tops were not completely clean. The fee was $65.00 an hour--for two people. I might use this service again, but would suggest you take two minutes to put on your white gloves BEFORE they leave so you're completely happy with the end result. read more

He did not allow the charge for the additional $100 - which was levied by the "reservation service" BidMyCleaning.com based on the notes from Spotless Cleaning following the job at my home. He offered me a refund of $50 for the inconvenience of dealing with this problem. So while I would still review the cleaning service as roughly average - the people who came out were pleasant and thorough and the owner/manager is trying to be a responsible businessperson after the fact. Not too bad. Came on time and stayed for the duration of time scheduled. They were very nice and did a pretty good job. My negative part of the experience is that they seemed to only go down the middle of the room with the floors. They didn't vacuum or mop behind the couch, move any furniture, or even get under the coffee table. Not like they were horrible, but basically as good as I usually do. the place is pretty clean, but far from detailed, like described in other reviews. I've been on a mad hunt for a carpet cleaner and stumbled upon Spotless Cleaning via Angie's List. Juan, the owner, was very professional and personal over the phone and to my surprise, he was the one who came to do the carpet cleaning. Everything was done to my liking (I'm extremely persnickety) and to my surprise, Juan gifted the service to me. Don't know why...don't care...but it was a nice move because I will mos def recommend this company and I've scheduled monthly visits. Well done! read more

Delightful women, they were super friendly and very fast! After 1.5 hours my place is nearly spotless. I think it could have used another 30 minutes but they were late and couldn't finish, and there was some confusion about how much time i had scheduled. I hired Spotless Cleaning Chicago to clean my newly rehabbed home following construction before I moved in. I ended up contacting Juan several times because the date of my move was constantly changing - and he couldn't have been nicer about accommodating me despite all the changes. As a plus, he or someone else always answered the phone and returned calls and emails promptly - wonderful customer service all around. Cindy and Maria arrived right on schedule. They worked for 4 1/2 hours. No pun intended, but my home was spotlessly clean - and both women were very knowledgeable about cleaning products, friendly and cheery to boot. Hired these guys for a cleaning while I was at work and came back to a nice and clean house. I had hired another service to clean the inside of the oven when I first moved in, but I think they just wiped it down and didn't really get the baked on crust out. They quoted me 1.5 hour for 2b/1b, but called me to say it would be closer to 1:45 minutes because of the condition of the oven... I can understand. Not quite sure how they got rid of that gunk, but the inside looks like new! They even gave me a tip on how to save money on my energy bill by choosing a green supplier. definitely more than i expected considering my previous experiences. read more

We hired Spotless for a deep cleaning before extended family arrived in town for a weekend visit. It had been more than a year since we last used a professional cleaning service, and our attempts to catch every dust bunny were fruitless, especially when we realized that our guests' arrival was looming. We found Spotless here on Yelp, got through to them right away, and the woman who booked our phone appointment was professional yet warm. The two young women who cleaned our 3BR/3Bath duplex worked as hard and as efficiently as any cleaners we have ever used. They were friendly, diligent about cleaning exactly what we wanted, and, like other Yelpers have noted, they use organic products and lots of clean rags. PROS: Arrived on time, we were able to make the appointment with only 2 days' notice, willing to come to our home on the South Side, used their own vacuum, thorough cleaning of the areas we identified, took a check from a first-time customer, nice people. CONS: Expensive ($65/hr for two cleaners--it took 41/2 hours to clean our 1400 sq ft), blinds not cleaned as well as the rest of the place, minimal "clean fresh aroma" after the cleaning (but the place looked great!). It was worth the money for the deep cleaning; we would like to hire Spotless again (when our budget permits). read more

Here's the pros and cons, which we've observed several times over a while: Pros: - They do scheduling through email, and are always prompt and wonderful about replying. - I think they do a good job cleaning. - I really like the team that comes over -- they're always nice. - They have good availability. - I haven't found more reasonable rates in Chicago. Cons: - Yes, they are often outside of their time window. Most of the time this doesn't matter because my husband and I just plan on being out of the house all day, but every so often it does matter. Once when it was really inconvenient I called their main office and worked with the desk staff; she was really helpful and we worked it out. They comped me my next cleaning. - I've had a few times where billing was disorganized, but since I can schedule by email it's easy to keep an eye on our own account.
